New Korean Restaurant Ghama Zone Korean Opens in Round Rock - Eater Austin

"A new Korean restaurant is going to open in Round Rock early this year. Ghama Zone Korean will be found at 118 East Main Street starting on Thursday, February 1. The restaurant’s menu boasts traditional and modern Korean dishes. Of particularly note, there are three specific appetizers. There’s the pockets, which are Ghama version of inari sushi where nori is swapped with bean curd that envelopes rice and fillings (think kimchi shrimp, pollock roe, pork, bulgogi). Then there are kimbap, which are rice/vegetable/meat combinations rolled in rice and dried seaweed, with options like duldak (spicy chicken), tuna salad, or a vegan iteration. Finally, there are ggochi, skewered dishes with items like boiled eggs, tofu, rice cakes, and more. There are also seafood pancakes, a potato pancake with truffles, and fried chicken. For fuller entrees, Ghama serves jjim (meats) such as galbi jjim (braised short ribs), jjim dak (braised marinated chicken with glass noodles and vegetables), seh-woo jang (steamed shrimp), and bibimbap (rice with meats and vegetables). Then there are soups and hot pots, like the beef rib soup and the army base stew with a slew of meats, tofu, kimchi, and vegetables. Dessert includes hotteok ice cream (South Korean pancakes), bingu, and sweet tteok (rice cakes). The lunch menu offers sets centered on the pockets, ggochi, and kimbap. And then for drinks, there are Korean wines, hot and cold sakes, other wines, beers, and nonalcoholic drinks including teas and sodas. Chef and owner Peter Kim wants to open Ghama as a way to “expand Korean food and culture.” He also describes the restaurant as a “traditional and modern cozy-vibe restaurant that tires to serve higher end but affordable dishes.” Previously, the Round Rock address was home to Mexican restaurant Eltakobar. Ghama’s opening date on February 1 will be a limited service one. Expect indoor dine-in services and takeout orders." - Nadia Chaudhury

GUYS WOW • the decor was beautiful and sleek. Dark browns, gold spoons/chopsticks, even the employee's uniform was nice. The atmosphere was peaceful and tidy. •. Our waitresses were so nice, pleasant, and friendly smiles • we had the tofu pockets - which were INSANELY delicious! The bulgogi, chicken, and seafood ones had an incredible char on them! The fried salmon pocket had a fried shrimp on top which was a delightful bite of texture. The rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will make sure to FOR SURE come back any time I'm passing through.

This is one of the restaurants our family visits often when dining out. As the menu continues to expand, it’s fun to try new dishes each time. This time, we had the sous-vide bossam and bibim makguksu. The sous-vide bossam was incredibly tender—something you can’t easily find elsewhere—and had a light flavor without being greasy. The seasoning in the bibim makguksu was also delicious. There are still more dishes I’d love to try, so I definitely want to keep coming back. The atmosphere was great, and the service was excellent, too.

In a town full of great food, the short drive up to Round Rock was worth it to eat at Ghama! It wasn’t the typical Korean restaurant but the food was TOP NOTCH! But even better than the food was the reunion of old, world traveling co-workers! I’ve traveled more with these two than just about anyone on this planet…was an amazing time to catch up and share old stories…service was fantastic and downtown Round Rock is an adorable town…having a Round Rock Donut location doesn’t hurt either!

I’ve visited this establishment several times, and really enjoyed the food. Bossam has been ordered at almost every visit. Most recently, we did not make a reservation. So, the hostess asked us if we would be like to sit at the bar, which we don’t mind at all. But, after sitting down at the bar, we noticed red splashes and stains on the counter that were visible. A couple of minutes later, the same hostess asked us to move to a table instead because someone finally noticed that the counters weren’t properly cleaned and prepped for incoming guests. I would rather stand and wait for a properly prepared seat than be lead to any spot that was available.

My friends and I went here for dinner one night. Food definitely wasn’t bad but it didn’t quite feel/taste like authentic Korean cuisine. The atmosphere was really nice though and the service was great. While it wouldn’t be my first suggestion, I wouldn’t mind going back again.

Had an incredible Korean meal here! The food was absolutely delicious—everything tasted fresh, clean, and authentically Korean. The spicy stir-fry dish we ordered was full of flavor and so was the beef rib soup, and the portion size was very generous. Plus, the unlimited side dishes were a great touch and super tasty. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but you really get what you pay for in terms of quality and portion size. Definitely worth every penny. The restaurant was very clean and had a welcoming and hip atmosphere—great for both family meals and date nights. Service took a little time, but it was a busy weekend and the staff were clearly doing their best to keep up. They were kind and attentive, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Will definitely be coming back!

Google
I am very tempted to give this place a 4, but the food is the deciding factor and it was excellent. We made a reservation, but there didn't seem to be a wait when we arrived. We ordered a bunch of apps and the pork Bulgolgi and the army base stew as entrees. My only complaints are that the spacing is really tight. We had to move the table away from the wall to get some elbow room. The table was super small and pressed up on the wall. It was also pricey in my opinion, but that seems to be the way of things now unfortunately. Try the kimbap; it's some of the best that I've had.

Google
Traditional Korean food in a contemporary setting. I saw that description before coming, and I echo that vibe and experience after thinking about my first visit to The Zone. How's the food? It's exquisitely scrumptious! Each dish arrives at the table beautifully presented. The taste matches what your eyes have already seen, which looks wonderful. We tried two appetizers and two other dishes. For the appeatizers, Sutteok-sutteok ($8) and the Seafood Pancake ($18). The first was two skewers consisting of sausages (think Lil' smokies) between sweet rice cakes shaped like penne pasta. They tasted good, but it was really not my thing. The second dish took a mix of squid, shrimp green onions and carrots and lightly battered it before serving. Generous portion. They were amazing! My friend had the Beef Rib Soup ($25), and I had a Bulgogi Kimbap ($16). He said the soup they really knew how to cook the disband the meat fell off the bone. Broth and noodles complimented the beef well. There is a lot of flavor on the bones. Kimbap is the Korean version of sushi, or vice versa from their point of view. While there are similarities, I found it to be much lighter. There were a lot of Kimbap's to choose from, but the waiter said she loved the Bulgogi. That type has marinated beef, egg, romaine lettuce, carrot, cucumber, daikon, and green onion with a sweetly drizzled on top. I am a sushi fanatic, now apparently, I am crazy for Kimbap, too. Service was wonderful. It was our server's first day! She did really well, obviously good training and a familiarity with the food. What a great restaurant for downtown Round Rock. Try them out, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Amazing food! Loved the food and ambience. Service is very fast and the quality is good too. Try their tofu pockets

Yelp
When I first moved to Austin I thought there was no good Korean food except at H Mart. Well I did not try this place until recently and I do believe this may be some of the best Korean food in this town. The host and staff were very friendly and the dishes came out in a timely manner. Galbi jjim was insane. Galbi jjim always hits so maybe that's my bias. But we ordered a few dishes and it ended up being more than we could finish between the two of us for dinner. I think the prices are fair for good Korean food, and everything was seasoned well, and the flavor of everything from the starter to the banchan to the short rib was insane. Ambiance is nice and in a cool part of Round Rock. I used to live in pretty much Koreatown and ate a lot of Korean food growing up so my standards are high. My standards were met and we will be back. 11/10 would recommend.

Yelp
I love the food here and have tried something from just about every part of the menu. It's a really cute ambiance inside. I've also ordered take-out and it was just as good as eating there. My only complaint is they tend to take a long time with the soups, so you pretty much have to get an app if you're really hungry.

Yelp
The ambiance was busy on a Saturday night but since we called and made a reservation they sat us right away! This place has some steep prices but almost everything is shareable. We got a couple of dishes and they all were great! I started off with some Strawberry Soju to drink and their scotch eggs. The server gave her recommendations and they were quite helpful! Our server was sweet and patient with us which we all appreciated. The bibimbap was not the best I have had but it was still pretty good, I don't think I would order it again from here. I got a kimpab because it was sushi and it was so fishy I could not finish it. Our server made sure to tell us it was not Japanese sushi and it was Korean sushi, I gave it a try and misfired. No biggie. I will be back here to try different items it was a wonderful experience with awesome service.

Yelp
Yum! This is located in downtown Round Rock! There is plenty of street parking along the street and some garages nearby. The inside of this restaurant has a nice luxurious looking aesthetic! The service was great. We tried the Kimbap, boneless chicken wings, and the little pockets. We ordered the pockets wrapped in tofu and they were sooo good, I've never had anything like it before. They're like little bite sized boats of flavor! They're about $4 a piece. The Kimbap tasted so yummy, we ordered the shrimp katsu one. Our friend ordered the beef rib soup and it looked super yummy! Overall, everything here was delicious.

Yelp
Wow, what a great find! The food was awesome and the service great. The restaurant is pretty nice also, great for a casual dinner or dinner date. It's nice to find a place with good food that's not either a dive or a super high end place

Yelp
It was a busy night and we ended up waiting for over an hour for a table but the host was friendly and accommodating. For the most part, no complaints on service. Food was great--there were some real winners and some just ok. The biggest winner and the reason I'd come back every time is the short rib steak. It easily fed our table of 4 and was a real winner. The green onion vinaigrette that came with it paired perfectly. The ghama jungsik was cool and helpful for variety. The soy marinated eggs were great and you got to sample the 2 diff pancakes (seafood and truffle). The neat part is you get the raw marinated crab and raw marinated shrimp--the GM mentioned the owner personally made them herself. It was my first time trying these raw dishes so these might not be winners for everyone but I did really enjoy the crab. I'm glad they gave us gloves too because it was messy. The just ok--limited banchan but the kimchi and radish kimchi were solid. Ended up treating the ghama jungsik as a fancy banchan for me albeit a sort of pricey one. Bulgogi that comes with the ghama jungsik is alright but hard to compare when we dug into that short rib first.

Yelp
So far I've only tried the kimchi stew, like I was really craving for some that night and I am thankful this spot opened up in Round Rock. The place is clean and looks pristine. I need to yet try more food so I'll definitely be back

Yelp
I am so excited to discover a delicious Korean restaurant in downtown Round Rock. If you can't find street parking in front, there is a lot in the back where you can park for free. **SERVICE** We went for lunch on a Sunday and there were plenty of seats available. They have both counter and table seating. Our server was attentive and checked in with us to refill the side dishes throughout our meal. **FOOD** - Bulgogi Pocket & Kimchi Shrimp Pocket (5/5) - I was super intrigued by their pockets since I've never had them before and wow these were incredible. You get the option of either having with tofu or wrapped in seaweed. We got the bulgogi one with tofu and shrimp one with seaweed which I think were perfect pairings. - Bulgogi Hot Pot (5/5) - I wanted a soup dish with noodles and this did not disappoint. I love the little cauldron it came with. The pot has glass noodles in it but the dish also comes with a side of rice. I initially thought it was pretty small but I was surprised how full I became by the end of it. I would say it was the right portion for me. - Bibimbap (4.5/5) - It's been awhile since I had bibimbap and I would say this was pretty good. I loved the soup that it came with on the side. Initially I thought it was miso soup but learned that it was a chicken soup base. Needless to say, I will definitely be returning here. Everything was so yummy!

Yelp
The service was decent, and street parking is available, which is convenient. For drinks, I tried the Chamisul strawberry, and it was surprisingly better than expected. As for the starter, I had the seafood pancake, which I highly recommend. It was perfectly crispy on the outside. For my entrée, I went with the Dak-Galbi. It had just the right amount of spice and was packed with flavor. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. The army stew was enough to share between two people. I think this is one of the best date night options in Round Rock

Yelp
Stopped in on a Fri night. They were busy, so about an hour wait for a party of 4. Friendly staff, and got to kind of watch everyone else's orders to anticipate ours. It's modern style decor, a little trendy, and great food. We ordered the Ghama hansang, short rib steak, army base stew, seafood pancake, Terra beer and Jinro grape bottle for the table. General manager, Jonathan?, was really nice when bringing out our food. Hands down winner of the night was the short rib steak. So delectable. We all were so stuffed and had huge plate of bulgogi left. I'm not usually a raw marinated crab fan, but there's was good! Definitely check out this place in the heart of downtown Round Rock.

Yelp
A great little gem in Round Rock. Service has improved for sure since my last visit. We were seated quickly and attended too nicely. Food was delicious. We tried new options and were not disappointed. I do love the counter top seating area, though it can get a little busy with people walking behind you at times. Still not overly noisy, and very comfortable inside!

Yelp
What I love about this restaurant is it consistent. At this point I have visited this restaurant at least five times. I've tried various items on the menu and I'm always happy with what I get. There is a large menu, so there are many more dishes to experience. I have tried the Garlic wings, Galbi JJim, Bulgogi (one of my favorites), Hot Pot Bulgogi, Beef Rib soup, Bacon Kimchi Kimbab, Crab Salad (another one of my favorites), Crab all in pockets, Avocado mayo mix pockets just to name a few. I have enjoyed everything. In the beginning Banchan was not offered. Now that issue has been corrected and now, they serve 2 types of Kimchi, fish cake and a macaroni salad. They keep the restaurant clean, and the service is always very friendly. The decor is nice with rich dark woods and modern lighting fixtures. I always sit at the tables but I will mention that they have a very attractive bar area. I suggest you visit, I know I will be back soon.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant on Father's Day and had a fantastic experience. Arriving at the right time, we were lucky to score a table immediately. By the time we were finishing our dinner, there was quite a line forming, so we felt fortunate with our timing. Our waiter was both helpful and pleasant, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. The food was delicious-- we particularly enjoyed the spicy pork bulgogi and the army base stew. We also tried a tofu pocket and a few seaweed ones. Next time, we'll definitely opt for the tofu pockets as they held everything together better than the seaweed. Overall, it was a great meal and we look forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Giving some grace due to the workers appearing understaffed during peak hours. We called ahead to make a reservation for Saturday night dinner. We were seated right away but waited about 10 minutes to get menus. Throughout the night the restaurant got more crowded and it became more difficult to get anyone's attention to pay for our meal. The food itself is pretty good and offers a good variety of traditional Korean dishes. The original tteokbokki is solid here - pretty spicy but also has a slightly sweet undertone and adding ramen and dumplings made it even better. We also ordered a Crab All In tofu pocket (fave), sweet chili wings to satisfy our Korean fried chicken craving, and hodduk ice cream for dessert. Side dishes weren't especially generous but good enough. The restaurant is clean, modern, and located in the newly revitalized downtown Round Rock that is fun to walk around. There's also plenty of parking around the block.

Yelp
Came here to get lunch with the guys in the weekend. It was pretty packed but lucky my friends already got a table. The restaurant itself is a bit small but located in the downtown RR area. So you can walk around afterwards. We ordered several dishes to try. The chicken wings was meh. Not crispy enough but well cook. The seafood pancake is really good but not traditional. It was also very greasy. The beef rib soup was good but don't expect beefy-ness in the soup. Prices are a bit expensive. A bit more expensive than traditional Korean restaurant. 4/5 The one thing that I would complain about is the service. I get that they are busy, but one of my friends wanted to order an entree because he forgot. The waitress said she will come back but after like 15mins. Then she forget to get his order again. So he given up on ordering. They also mess up our check with some other table. They took away my water away when I was still there talking. 2/5....and the standard tip is 20/22/25%. Not for that kind of service.
google avatar

Hannah A.

Yelp
What a gem of a restaurant! This was our first time here so we ordered the $70 entree which comes with 9 mini entrees and a full entree sized bulgogi. It also included rice, soup, and side dishes. It was a massive amount of food and very delicious. The only two things we didn't like were the cold jellied shrimp and crab. I'm a huge seafood aficionado but those were too weird even for me. The service was also great and the ambience was lovely. My only suggestion would be to include a list of what's in the 9-entree meal with a short description because we pretty much had no idea what we were eating

Yelp
Wanted to check this place out since they had Galbi jiim on the menu and that's been a hard dish to track down in Austin. Came in for dinner with the family. Cool spot in downtown Round Rock. We ordered: Seafood pancake Galbi jiim Pork bulgogi Dak galbi The seafood pancake came out first and was REALLY good. Super crispy and the right ratio of batter to seafood. A nice start. The galbi jiim was really solid, especially for the the area. The menu says it's for 2 people but we were a party of 5 and it was plenty for all of us. The short rib was cooked well and the sauce was tasty. The potato slices were a tad under and I wish it came with more "stuff" (back in my California days it would come with tons of potatoes, rice cakes, etc). I'd order it again though, and try the spicy version. The pork bulgogi was pretty average. It came with a small bowl of lettuce leaves and truffle aioli for dipping...I presume to make some sort of wrap? Never seen it served like this but it was interesting. It was a little bland for me and I probably would skip this next time. Dak galbi was solid. Good sized chunks of chicken cooked well, generous amount of onion garnish. I wouldn't be mad if someone wanted to try this again but I would probably try other stuff first personally. Other things thoughts: Staff was really friendly and efficient. The banchan was really disappointing though. There were only 4 (kim chi, radish, fish cake, and mac salad) and they came in these tiny little dishes. Of course it's banchan and you can always ask for more (which again the staff were more than happy to grab for you) but I would have enjoyed more variety and slightly larger portions so we didn't have to bug the staff so often. The last thing of note was that three of us ordered soft drinks. We all asked for a refill. When my check came, I was charged for 6 drinks, so I guess refills aren't free? Which is fine but I dunno, felt a little...nickel and diming when I was already paying like $150 for dinner. It also wasn't advertised on the menu as such. Overall I'd come back to try the spicy galbi jiim and other stuff like the tofu pockets and bossam which are fairly hard to find here. If you're curious I'd say it's worth checking out at least once.

Yelp
Beautifully decorated restaurant with elegant table settings. My one complaint is that the rectangular shaped chopsticks were hard for me to hold and therefore use. I find rounded ones much easier. Our server was attentive, and had my food remade when it came out containing onions which were not listed on the menu. He was very apologetic about it too. My friend ordered some of the pockets and a kimbap, and she said they were all delicious if a little messy to eat. The starter items were fun to try and refreshing. The soup was simple but good. My beef bulgogi was tender and delicious. I subbed eel sauce for the white sauce it normally comes with. I will be back again to try more dishes.

Yelp
I came to this location last Friday to get a meal to-go. Let's get to it, shall we? When I walked into the location, I was greeted by the host, who advised that I could place an order with him and wait at the bar while my order was being prepared. Once I placed my order, I sat at the bar and watched various Banchan being made. The restaurant has a clean aesthetic and sharp/crisp lines in all decor throughout the restaurant. What I got: Bulgogi hot pot Jeongol is a Korean word for hot pot. There are a variety of ingredient options for jeongol, such as Korean bulgogi, fresh seafood, dumplings, mushrooms, tofu, and fish cakes. Bulgogi jeongol is a Korean beef hot pot dish with marinated bulgogi meat, a variety of vegetables, and glass noodles (dangmyeon) in a savory and slightly sweet broth. Usually, leafy vegetables are used for dishes such as this like napa cabbage, spinach, bok choy, watercress, Swiss chard, choy sum, etc. However, this dish featured carrots as its vegetable. I was able to taste both the savory and sweet undertones within this dish. However, the lack of vegetable variety within this dish was a disappointment. But, this establishment is supposed to be 'non traditional', so perhaps this is the reason why for the lack of some traditional elements within the dish. Crab Salad I've had a Korean cucumber and Crab Stick Salad. But, this was not that. It's a traditional crab salad with fresh greens, cucumbers, onions, and cherry tomatoes. This salad was simple and is exactly as described.

Yelp
Very tasty korean concept food! We've been here 2x and each time we were impressed with each dish. Flavors are on point with some simplicity and twists. We've enjoyed the variety of kimbap rolls, tofu skins (recommend the bulgogi) and bibimbap (with soup). Kudos to the chefs for nailing the taste of each dish. Interior is modern and the kimbap bar area is a unique touch to the space.

Yelp
Amaaazing meal at Ghama zone! Think: all your favorite Korean dishes (inspired by the chef's mother's recipes) brought to you in aesthetic presentation and a modern, minimalist environment. While I'll admit I'm a newb with Korean food (and we need more spots in Austin), I went with a few friends who knew what they were ordering! We tried a variety of dishes and all were pretty great, but there were a few absolute standouts. The short rib steak was one of them -- it was phenomenal with amazing flavor! We all also loved the kimbop (seafood mix), tofu pockets (fried salmon), and tteok bokki (original with cheese). A few other things we had were the bulgogi, beef rib soup, spicy marinated raw crab, and hodduk ice cream -- all great! Service was exceptional, high-touch, and we were constantly checked on and taken care of. Dreaaaaming about this meal (especially the short rib steak) and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
The food is all really delicious! Of all the Korean restaurants I've tried around the Austin area, this might be the best. However for the prices, I don't think it worth it at all. The tofu pockets were each $4/5 and it was kind of crazy to me that dishes like tteokbokki and kimbap and army stew (notorious for being cheap and like quick at home options or street food) were actually quite expensive. And sadly, I wasn't even full when we finished the meal. I can understand needing to make a profit and maybe the location of the restaurant is expensive. But the pricing kind of disappointed me. It turned the restaurant from somewhere I could go for reliable Korean food to a place where it's nice to try once but idk it it would be worth it or fiscally responsible to return to too much.

Yelp
Pork bulgogi is wonderfully sweet and tasty. They have some seaweed salad and scallions on top, which was interesting, but also delicious. It comes with truffle butter!!! Soo good!! I put some of it in the lettuce with the meat and ate it as a wrap. I'm quite familiar with Korean food (used to work at a Korean restaurant) but love how the server explains all the different sections of the menu-from Tteokbokki to kimbap. Love the portion size. I was only able to finish half and I was hungry!! I did finish the bowl of rice. If you ask for more rice, it does cost extra. Side dishes are refillable, as is typical with Korean food. You can ask for these before your entree comes :) Love it so far! Can't wait to try more!

Yelp
Simply the best tofu pocket I ever had. Tried this place for the 1st time, and I am definitely going again. I had the bulgogi and crazy chicken tofu pockets. Crazy chicken was my favorite, though bulgogi was great too. I can go just to have the tofu pockets, it's that good. Also, had their seafood mix kimbab. It was amazing but overshadowed by the tofu pocket. We went to the restaurant and placed a to-go order but next time, we plan on eating at the restaurant. It looked like an upscale, cute restaurant. Tips - Don't call the kimbab as sushi. They don't like that. My husband was called out for that :) This restaurant opened like a month back and don't take to go orders over the phone very well. So it's better you order in person. This might change over time.

Yelp
This place exceeded my expectations! I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to Korean food so seeing menu items referred to as pockets and bedazzled gimbap did not fly very high on my radar of things to try. The pockets (inari) were surprisingly well balanced, I ordered the pork belly pockets and I may order them again in the future, maybe 2, maybe 4. I've had my fair share of inari in the past and it's pretty hit or miss for me, all the flavors and textures have to balance. I can only speak to the pork belly one and it definitely ranks up there. I tried the beef bone broth soup, I can see myself craving this particular dish. It tasted like something out of my mom's kitchen, the beef came off the bone with very little struggle, I hate having to fight my meal. The bowl of rice on the side was unexpected since these days most restaurants charge you extra for it if requested. The sauce on the side was chefs kiss, paired so well with the whole dish. My only complaint is that aside from the pockets, the prices seem fairly high. My beef soup dish was around $24 alone. Let's just say, my Korean parents would never happily dine here.

Yelp
Been here twice already since they opened. So glad we've now have our first Asian fusion in downtown Round Rock, it really stands out. I only ordered 3 "pockets"each time as they are pretty filling with stuffed rice! To people like me who eat smaller portions, this is perfect and affordable - comparing with other dishes on the menu. Both time I sat at the bar and let the chef recommend whether to pick tofu or seaweed pockets. Only thing I'd point out is the hosts and servers seemed lost both time. They weren't busy... but "looked busy" and clueless @@ we waited for a while to be greeted and seated when some of them just walking back and forth finding things to do‍

Yelp
3.75 stars, but rounding up to 4 This is a "modern Korean" restaurant was one of the first things we were told as we were seated. After reading reviews online, we went in with little expectations, especially understanding that the food will be on the more "fusion" style. With that in mind, we thought everything was pretty decent. We did not get the gimbab or pockets, and instead opted for Dak-Gangjung (sweet crispy fried chicken), Pork Bulgogi, and Army Stew. Everything was decent, especially the Pork and the Stew. Pork was supposed to be spicy, but wasn't at all - our waiter told us next time we could ask for the note to be added and the chef (who we were told is Korean), would be happy to oblige since they had to "tone some of the spices" down for the clientele. Based on some of the info we gathered from talking to our server Kevin, seems like the owner/chef didn't shy away from actual flavors, but may have received feedback earlier on that might have changed that. So next time we'll be sure to ask and see if any modifications can be made when it comes to spice levels. It also sounds like the banchans may or may not have been given to guests at the beginning (or maybe you only get them when you order entrees), but we did get them without having to pay extra. Only kimchi and radish were provided, and we did like their flavors! We used to live in LA where Ktown reigns supreme, so we didn't and still don't expect Austin to have similar joints (at least not yet), but Ghama Zone didn't really disappoint. Be aware of prices. Nowhere in Austin can we get affordable food anymore, especially in a hip restaurant set up like this, so honestly that shouldn't really be a surprise. We'll likely be back at some point when we don't want to travel too far!

Yelp
Grabbed lunch with a friend at this new Korean restaurant in downtown RR! Service was fast and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. Great weekday lunch specials ranging from $13-$15 that come with soup or salad. I ordered the bulgogi bowl which came with a generous serving of ribeye meat over rice & glass noodles mixture with vegetables and white sauce. The meat was marinated well and flavorful, veggies were fresh, and the noodles were delightful. I think the white sauce was just okay - I will be requesting eel sauce as well next time to give it some extra flavor. I'll be back!

Yelp
Had a hankering for Korean food and found this new restaurant and was super hopeful since it is close to work. While the service was excellent and the food was beautiful, I can only give it a 3 star rating. It is quite pricey and parking can be a trial since it is in Main Street Round Rock. I got the spicy rice cake with mandu,(dumplings). It was good- but it needed more flavor and spice/ Korean food is basically salty, spicy and has umami- I also got the OG kimbab it was beautiful but sooo bland and weirdly wet. I will reserve judgement as I'm getting over a cold but at this point, my half Korean side was crying. The waiter was super sweet and offered to call the manager and assured me that the owner was Korean. He said that the owner didn't want 'traditional' perhaps the name should include a 'fusion' warning. Beautiful, and clean.

Yelp
The pork bone soup was yummy and full of flavor! Large portions. We were able to take it home and eat it for days! Had a few of the hand rolls. They were decent. The banchan portions were small and not the best quality. Some of the food was overpriced, some were priced alright. Over $50 for Galbi jjim.

Yelp
Great little place for good food. I haven't had the opportunity to try most of the food, but I've had the bulgogi rolls and they were amazing. The sauces were tasty and not too spicy. Fast and friendly service and great decor. Nice spot in Downtown Round Rock to stop by and have lunch with this nice weather we've been having.

Yelp
The employees are very helpful. The restaurant is well maintained. The food quality is outstanding. Our issue is that we are unfamiliar with this type of food.

Yelp
So glad I stumbled upon this place. It's tucked in downtown of little RR and it's a hidden gem. They serve very unique and traditional Korean food. Love their mini seaweed boats and tofu skin pockets. Those were one of the highlights to this place. Service could improve a little bit but overall a frequent restaurant I would go to. Sorry forgot to take pictures because it was so good when the food got here.

Yelp
Delicious kimbap! Wings could be a little crispier, but the sweet chili glaze was really tasty.

Yelp
I came on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch with my best friend and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't super packed and that the staff sat right away. I've been really looking for better Korean options in or around Austin for some time. I come from Killeen, which isn't too far away but has more Korean food options due to the large military population that resides in the area. Once we sat, we looked over the menu to see what was different from most of the Korean restaurants in Austin, and I liked that this menu is so diverse and vast compared to other Korean menu options. They have jjim, tofu/seaweed pockets, and kim bop of different varieties. My friend and I ordered some Kim Bop, tofu pockets, and Beef rib soup to share. I'd say if we came back, we would get the Beef rib soup and the tofu pockets again. I felt the kimbap was a bit lacking in the overall combination of flavor depth I usually experience from K-bop (a Kim Bop restaurant located on Guadalupe). The service was attentive and friendly but didn't give us much indication of the beef rib soup since the waiter hadn't tried it and was unwilling to spend the money on an employee meal to try it. My only complaint is that the soup didn't come with Banchan so I can't attest for any of those items. It's a great spot to check out in downtown Round Rock, and I'm really satisfied that good Korean food has finally made its way out to the surrounding areas of Austin!

Yelp
Tried for lunch and returned following week for dinner. For Lunch... 4 pocket lunch combo ($18) was a good size. It came with kim chi and radish as the banchan and light soup. I loved all my topping choices, crab all in, seafood mix. Their bulgolgi could've been more meat to rice portion but the flavor was good. The Myungran could've used more roe but I didn't mind. Shrimp and Shishito Pepper Skewers ($2-3 each) were perfectly panko fried; not oily. Hot and crispy. For Dinner... Ghama Jungsik ($70) was a nice variety. It also came with a light soup, one bowl of rice and the two daikon and kim chi banchans. The house sides of came first while they heated the grill. Apparently, they told me they up the sides from 6 to 9 dishes. The steak was a bit thin, so it didn't take much at all to cook but I wish it was q thicker juicier streak to go with the nice show! It came on a bed of nice scallion with soy and sesame oil. We ate everything. Only con was a bit overbearing flavor of truffle oil on the bulgolgi and gamjaechae, which we have this feedback in the end. Both times servers were great and knew about the food and were humble enough to ask for feedback after both my meals, which we gave. They're definitely listening to reviews, asking for feedback and doing training to address critics. Yes, they're Korean own.

Yelp
Starting with the location, it is in a prime spot in downtown Round Rock, which is so nice to stroll around the area after eating. This location has been so many different businesses over the years. Hopefully, this one can stick around for a while. The greeting was lukewarm, and the servers were very friendly. The food didn't seem very traditional for Korean, but it was delicious! Hope to go back and try more things on the menu, I saw other tables eating noodles that looked amazing. I didn't get a picture of the broth soup, but it was very comforting and tasty!

Yelp
I see this location has changed names and concepts within the past years. Change is always a constant, and this time, it was a change to improve. Ot looks really nice inside. The service is definitely great. Our waiter, Jordan, was very informative and knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations. We had Dak-Gangjung, which are the boneless wings for appetizer and the Army base stew. All was served with a side of kimchi, very good flavors and perfect spiciness, in my opinion. I need to come back and try new items and also become more knowledgeable about the menu items I can get. I made the mistake of getting my stew with noodles, which made it more like a Ramen soup. However, this absorbed the juices of the stew, and then I ended up with a lot of noodles that I couldn't eat nor take with me. When I saw "stew" in the name, I thought it was a think broth, but it was a more liquidy soup like Ramen. Again, this was on me for not knowing well. But this is why I try to look at pictures from people who have tried dishes to have an idea of the size and heaviness of the food. I like what they did with the place, especially love that is a different type of cusine in Round Rock. Kuddos!!!

Yelp
Everything tasted so heavenly!! The short rib steak was to die for. Just the perfect flavoring of savory and sweet. Meat was tender enough and I love that some parts were fatty. The bulgogi soup was a bit too sweet for my taste but understandable because bulgogi is usually on the sweeter end. I still enjoyed it though. Loved the truffle potato pancakes! So crispy and the dip was so creamy and they both paired so perfectly together. Definitely don't sleep on this place. It is pricey but worth it. The short rib steak was $60 but can be shared with another person, so not bad at all. Service was great at first until they switched out our waiter who was very attentive. Our waitress ended up not being as attentive and didn't really check in on us. We had to go get her to ask for even a plastic bag to take our food home. The person working at the bar that day was so sweet to us though. He helped us pack our to-go order.

Yelp
From diverse Korean delights to an array of inari flavors, their menu is a taste sensation. My partner really loved their spicy pork inari. And don't even get us started on the oozie goozie hodduk with ice cream! The food came out at a reasonable time. We took a star off due to customer service. There was a family that got seated before us even though they requested a table 30 minute after us. We know they didn't have a reservation because they were loudly exclaiming it outside. I'm not sure if they got seated before us due to them constantly pacing in and out asking about updates, but it was mildly irritating.... our waitlist said we had no tables in front of us.... we decided not to say anything since the store is new. Hopefully, it won't happen next time!

Yelp
New Korean spot in downtown Round Rock! I had the carbonara tteokbokki, which sounded like a good idea at first but it was not (plain alfredo sauce with bits of pork). My table also ordered the army stew, which was such a small portion for $20 and noodles were an extra charge. There were a few side dishes served (ban chan) - kimchi and radishes. Service was good. There is free street parking and also a parking garage nearby. I prefer Korean cuisine over Korean fusion so unfortunately this didn't hit the spot. I don't even believe that they had tofu soup on the menu. However, some of their other dishes seem to be better.

Yelp
If you're looking for traditional Korean food this isn't the place but it is decent given the location

Yelp
I know Ghama Zone isn't technically in Austin, but it's definitely my favorite restaurant in the area. My friend and I visited after some raving reviews from other friends, and wow. It's absolutely worth those stellar opinions. Our waiter (shoutout Isiah) was SO nice and friendly, and he gave us such a good introduction and rundown of the menu. He recommended the rose teokkbokki and short rib. My friend and I also got a tofu pocket to share. Ghama Zone also has some banchan like radish and kimchi, both of which are actually really good. If you like more fermented kimchi, their kimchi is bomb. The teokbokki came out really fast, and I loved it. The rice cakes were perfectly cooked, and I love that instead of fish cake, it had bacon instead. I definitely recommend eating kimchi with the rice cakes because it can get really heavy. The sauce is delectable, and I'm just such a big fan of rose sauce. I don't think there's another restaurant in Austin that has rose teokbokki, so it hit a craving I've been having for a long time. The seafood tofu pocket was delicious. It tastes a little bit like a piece of sushi or kimbap, and it's filled to the brim. The star of the show is definitely the short rib. Wow. My friend and I were exclaiming over this dish the entire night. The meat was so fatty and soft, and the presentation was STUNNING. I loved the little green onion salad it came with, and we just couldn't get over how delicious this entree was. We would order it every time we come here. The other reviews say that Ghama Zone is expensive, but honestly, almost all Korean places are expensive. For their quality and service, I don't mind at all. Their portion sizes are also decent, so I don't think the prices are all that shocking? I'm probably biased now, but Ghama Zone, you've gained a hardcore fan.

Yelp
Excellent food. Quick service. I was only able to get photos of desert: dinner got scarfed too fast for pics. The tofu pockets were my favorite (crab all the way was the best), while my wife enjoyed the vegan Kimbop immensely. Their take on Patbingsu was great, but I was missing my favorite place in DC thats always heavier on the fruit instead of even on the toppings of red bean, fruit, and rice balls.

Yelp
Atmosphere is suitable for families and couples. Lots of alcohol options esp wine. Customer service was great. Food was a bland, and shaved iced wasn't cohesive enough. Overall though I was okay about the Korean food here. Not too flavorful. People are great though and there's a parking garage nearby for free.

Yelp
Was nearby and decided to stop by and I am glad I did. I had not had the food I had at this meal. We had Hot Pot Bulgogi and Pork Bulgogi. All the food was yummy. Service was friendly, and attentive (thank you to Dimitri). He had us sample a "pocket" and I will return to make a run down that list. We drank a Chung Ha (wine). They have plenty of room. I would highly recommend eating and drinking here. If nearby give it a try (we will be back). Enjoy!!
