"I'm looking forward to Ghama Zone Korean, a new Korean restaurant opening at 118 East Main Street on Thursday, February 1 with a limited opening offering indoor dine-in and takeout. The menu blends traditional and modern dishes: three standout appetizers are the pockets — Ghama's take on inari sushi that swaps nori for bean curd and envelopes rice with fillings like kimchi shrimp, pollock roe, pork, and bulgogi — kimbap rolls with options such as duldak (spicy chicken), tuna salad, or a vegan version, and ggochi skewers with items like boiled eggs, tofu, and rice cakes; there are also seafood pancakes, a truffle potato pancake, and fried chicken. For fuller entrees Ghama serves jjim such as galbi jjim (braised short ribs), jjim dak (braised marinated chicken with glass noodles and vegetables), seh-woo jang (steamed shrimp), and bibimbap, plus soups and hot pots including beef rib soup and an army base stew loaded with meats, tofu, kimchi, and vegetables. Desserts include hotteok ice cream, bingu, and sweet tteok; lunch sets center on the pockets, ggochi, and kimbap, and beverages range from Korean wines and hot and cold sakes to other wines, beers, teas, and sodas. Chef-owner Peter Kim says he wants to "expand Korean food and culture" and describes the restaurant as a traditional-and-modern, cozy-vibe spot that tries to serve higher-end but affordable dishes." - Nadia Chaudhury
