This supermarket is a great addition to the city. It's a literally giant modern supermarket. Upon entering the store you can find a nice Starbucks cafe. There's an escalator for human and escalator for the shopping cart. On the second floor there's a door to go to a nice size patio to enjoy beautiful weather and city view. Near the floral section you can find French macarons, cupcakes, and gelato. You pay it there. The macarons are pretty good but a bit too sweet for me.
There are rows of handhelds scanners that links to your Giant card. You scan your groceries and pay what you bought. I haven't tried it but a friendly employee explained it to me.
If you don't have a Giant card you can apply at the customer service. It allows you to get special prices. Also at the customer service, you can find a map of the store which is handy due to the size of the store.
There's kombucha station by the produce section. There are some local products such as varieties of peanut butter and almond butter. Once you pass the produce you will find sushi station where sushi are preapared on site, Salad works, prepared foods including varieties of uncooked flatbreads that can be made there. As you follow along on the left you will find Mission Taqueria. Their main restaurant is at 15 and Sansom. At the back area you will find varieties of beer on tap, in the fridge, and on the shelf. You can find soft pretzel to, perfect companion for the beer. There are seating areas and tv to watching sports. Also you can enjoy the view of river while you are enjoying your beer and or dessert, which are available next to the beer section. You don't feel like you're in a supermarket.
What is special about this supermarket is that they carry a lot of local products: High Street Bread, Isgro's pastries, Claudio's pasta and cheese, DiBruno's cheese spread. Next to the deli station is the cannoli counter where you can pick the shell ( regular or chocolate covered), choose the fillings (regular, strawberry, blueberry) and put some toppings if you like. However I don't recommend the regular cannoli, it's bland.
They have products that I've never seen them n other stores such as plantain flour, crepe mix. Most importantly, at the meat section they have dry-aged beef in a special glass display.
There's also a special section dedicated for plant-based food.
At the checkout, there are several self service and the regular ones. The register station is similar to the ones at Trader Joe's. No conveyor belt, small space to put your groceries so you have to unload them a bit at a time. Very environmentally friendly with paper bags.
In summary, this supermarket gives you a different kind of experience. I called it grocery shopping with a view.
