Gigi's Pasta

Pretty good setup and made to order pasta. We ordered everything and it was tasty. The pasta was a little too soft and not within “al dente” standards. We had the amatriciana, truffle, lasagna, and caprese salad. The accompanying bread was also good. Will try the dessert options on the next visit.

I recently visited Gigi’s Pasta, and while the ambience was very nice warm, inviting, and well put together the food unfortunately did not live up to the setting. The pasta itself left a lot to be desired. It was largely unflavored and overall quite forgettable. Given the atmosphere and presentation, my expectations were much higher than what was delivered. To make matters worse, the bread paired with the pasta was genuinely disappointing and did not complement the dish at all. While the space has a lot of potential, the food experience fell short and did not match the quality the ambience suggested.

Ordered through uber got the food in about 20 minutes and I thought it held up very well and was delicious. I got the baked penne and the rigatoni beef Bolognese both were good but the baked penne stood out I absolutely loved it and will return to get that dish again.

Gigi’s Pasta truly exceeded my expectations. The quality of their food stands out from the moment you walk in. Their pasta is incredibly fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly — you can immediately tell it’s homemade and crafted with care. I tried their signature pasta options, and each bite was rich, comforting, and beautifully seasoned. The lemonade is by far the BEST 🍋 I’ve had anywhere — super refreshing, well-balanced, and the perfect drink to pair with the pasta. Their beverage selection overall is impressive, with Italian sodas, spritz options, and fresh drinks that complement the menu nicely. The service was excellent as well. The staff was friendly, quick, and very welcoming. The atmosphere is fun, bright, and clean, making the dining experience even better. The décor and presentation of the food station are eye-catching and give the place a unique charm. Gigi’s Pasta is definitely a spot I recommend 100%. Fresh pasta, delicious sauces, great service, and the best lemon drink in town. I will absolutely be coming back!

Amazing Made to Order pasta. Literally the freshest pasta you can eat. Tastes so good! Tried 2 different Pastas. The Selene (Chefs Specialty Pasta) with whipped ricotta (chefs kiss) and the vodka with crispy panchetta on top (Build Your Own). Literally cannot go wrong! Well worth the wait!

The sauces? Chef’s-kiss good. Rich enough to feel indulgent, but balanced enough that you don’t feel like you need to repent afterward. The vibe is chic-but-not-trying-too-hard, the service is warm, and the portions are generous enough that you feel cared for, not judged. And yes, I absolutely took half home so I could “reflect on the flavors later” (also known as: eat it in my car). If you’re looking for a place that feels elevated without the ego, delicious without the drama, and cozy without the chaos — Gigi Pasta is your girl. Just don’t be surprised if you leave plotting your next visit before you’ve even finished your tiramisu.

Gigi’s Pasta has been buzzing since it opened, and after spending the day exploring the Umbrella Art Fair @ The Square, I couldn’t resist stopping by to see what the hype was all about. Gigi’s nails the vibe with bright lemons, bold stripes, and that playful coastal-Italian energy. The menu is all about fresh, made-to-order pasta where you choose the pasta type, the sauce, and the extras (ricotta, burrata, chicken—yes please). The surprise star of my visit? The warm focaccia sprinkled with coarse sea salt. Simple, but unforgettable. They also serve a refreshing lavender lemonade, which feels like the perfect little upgrade to your meal. There’s counter seating and plenty of tables inside the food hall, making it an easy stop whether you’re solo or with friends. I went for the truffle mushroom pasta topped with chicken that was rich, cozy, and full of flavor. A true comfort dish. I’m already planning a return trip to mix and match another combo because the options are endless.

Gigi's Pasta has some of the best pasta I have ever tasted in my entire life. Despite being a new spot, their food tastes as if they have been doing this for decades. I created my own pasta with radiatori and basil pesto sauce. I added chicken, calabrian chili oil, and ricotta to the pasta which elevated it to another level. The service was spectacular and the restaurant is decorated gorgeously. It's notable that there has been a lot of thought and effort put into the opening of this restaurant and I am so glad that it is here! I will definitely be a frequent customer and bring all of my friends to try this lovely new spot.

The pasta here is so good! You can tell that it's freshly made in-house. My coworker and I each custom made our pasta bowls. You can pick from 4 noodle types, a few sauces, and some proteins. Depending on the protein, the price will vary. I picked the gigil pasta with vodka sauce and meatballs which my total was about $18. I feel like it is a bit pricey for a small portion, but that's dc pricing for you! I love their decor. The lemon tree all over the top gives it a nice aesthetic.

Went there twice around 1pm. Waited for about 20 minutes both time. I waited about 10minutes from the time I received sms notification saying order is ready. The first one I had was excellent. I went back today and the pasta was overcooked and sticked together. The sauce was cold and meatballs were average. I may go back If there is no wait. Overall very disappointed.

I like the idea of a pasta bar, where you can get it quickly and on the go. I ordered the rigatoni with à la vodka sauce and burrata as an add on. My food was ready in about 10 minutes and my meal was filling and the burrata was a positive add. I wish the bread, which comes on the side, was softer. In terms of pricing, with no add-ons, the pasta is $12, which is a solid price for anyone on a budget. Adding an protein or extras jumps the price to about $20.

We saw the place and wanted to try it so we got a pasta bowl with vodka sauce and meatballs. The whole thing was kind of bland and honestly not a ton of food for what you get. It is not worth your money and there is plenty of other good food in western market so you are better off getting anything else.

I must say that I saw this on TikTok and got excited because it reminded me of Vapiano's from how you choose the pasta and a sauce and a cook it there. I did not like that. The roasted chicken is chicken thighs and not chicken breast. The pasta was decent and I appreciate that they make the pasta themselves as well as the sauce, but it did not fully meet my expectations. Will I go again? Maybe if I'm in the taste for pasta because it's only a couple of bucks for my job but I don't think I will be running to go there..

This place is amazing. I love freshly-made pasta and am generally willing to pay up for it but am happy to get this very high-quality pasta at an affordable price point. Easily much better than Vapiano's -- the pasta has more heft, depth and texture and the sauces (bolognese was my fave) much richer. This is better pasta than at other celebrated joints around town like Filomena or Sfoglina, in my opinion. Maybe you just can't get as wide of a selection, such as seafood elements. But the food is delicious, and the homemade touch is hard to miss , even in the luxurious cannoli filling. Per other reviews, Gigi's may be smoothing out operational challenges as a new place. There were a lot of people when we visited, so there was a bit of a wait. But highly recommend a visit. Hopefully this becomes the new Vapiano's that DC'ers can all enjoy all around the city.

I was subconsciously thinking about Gigis several days after going there to eat- it was that good! Their pasta is made fresh on site and their sauces are the right mix of tart and creaminess. The freshness of the pasta is amazing and I haven't tasted anything like it in DC. I loved the rigatoni beef bolognese, and the radiotori pasta has such a unique tecture! Try their lemon soda and cannoli too - both are delightful. I am definitely coming back because I Have a serious craving!

So I was hoping it would be like Vapiano's. At first it seemed like that, until you got the menu. It's less options. But the options seemed decent so figured I'll try the Bolognese and add the complimentary Calabrian chili for a little spice. I was warned it was 30 minute wait. IT WAS NOT. Got a copy of my receipt at 7:03pm. Got the text it was ready at 7:54pm it was ready. Yes. 51 minutes for pasta. But it wasn't ready at the point of text, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. So one hour for pasta. The bolognese was meh. Not even any spice. I added a lot of parm cuz parm makes anything better. But still, bolognese was meh. Would I do this again? Maybe if there was no line and it was less than 10 minute wait.

I really wanted to like this place. It had great reviews on tiktok but after trying it, it's just not the place for me. The branding is gorgeous and the stall they have at the western market is beautifully decorated but the food was meh. The pasta tasted like it was slightly over cooked. I also go the gigli pasta and noticed a few strands of a different kind of pasta in my bowl. The marinara sauce didn't have much flavor, and I know they have extra toppings and such but I feel like a sauce should be able to stand on its own (flavor wise). The meatballs were meh as well, but I liked that you could tell that the looked homemade/in house.

Went here because of Eater. In the first few bites I thought "Meh." When my dinner companion and I walked outside, we both said, "It just wasn't good." We hadn't even finished the pasta. The quality of the pasta was not good. It wasn't the worst pasta I've ever had, but it was near the bottom of the list. The sauces didn't save it. One of us ordered pesto, the other marinara. They were both bad. Extremely oily. You could barely taste any basil in the pesto, and it was so oily it was like eating green Mac n cheese with a whole lot of oil poured on top. I was disappointed and said "Not a repeat." But after leaving the market, I still had this tinny, metallic after taste in my mouth. It was so bad I stopped somewhere else and bought a cookie and water just to try to get that taste to go away. My dinner companion soon had to run to a restroom. Clearly, dinner didn't agree with them. So, this experience was bad beyond just "Meh" or "Not a repeat." Yes, as other diners have mentioned, you have to wait a long time for the food, and the people cooking it look like they don't care and aren't in a hurry. The vibes aren't great. But none of that would have bothered me if the pasta had been good. One last thought to leave you with: when I asked how the marinara was, my dinner companion said "Gritty. You know, like something used to make it wasn't properly washed." Not the first adjective you want to come to mind when someone eats your marinara: gritty. ​
