This place is family owned and the owner was amazing! The menu is so good you have a hard time choosing what to eat. We got our food and it was perfect everything tasted amazing. We even got some delicious cookies to take with us. The servers was friendly as well. Very nice chill environment. If I am ever in ft. Lauderdale I will return there!

Needed a quick meal after arriving in town and found Gilbert’s. I can’t say enough about the friendly, courteous, and welcoming atmosphere that is created by the staff. The food was hot, fresh, and made to order.

I had been wanting to try Gilbert's 17th Street Grill for quite some time, after hearing about how great their burgers are, and attending a Friday night concert at the nearby Parker Auditorium (the guitar playing duet Rodrigo y Gabriela) was a perfect opportunity to stop in before the show. We were greeted at the ordering counter by the owner, who I recognized from a news article. She was very friendly and told us a bit about the history of the restaurant in Florida. Orders are taken at the counter and your food is delivered to your table when ready. It's more of a cafeteria style place, with an expansive seating area. We tried the caesar salad which was excellent, the brie burger and a basic cheese burger. They were every bit as good as we expected. The fries are also pretty amazing. We arrived around 630 on a Friday and it quickly filled up over the next hour. My only regret is that I couldn't try more of their burgers (the Dominican sounds amazing) and I look forward to heading to Gilbert's a second and third time for more of they're amazing food.

We stayed at the Embassy Suites and we were craving something unique. The front desk woman recommended Gilbert's. We were still undecided while walking in the area. Some wonderful woman must have seen our struggles and asked what we were looking for. After we said food...she pointed behind us and said we MUST try Gilbert's. Oh how right she was. We were greeted by the owner and she gave us a quick rundown of how things worked and a bit about the company's backstory. We were gushing about how great it was. Our server was Lexi. And even she was amazing!!! 100000% recommend Order: "The Havarti" & "The Hickory"

Excellent place! We were visiting Ft Lauderdale when we came here. Looked like it was a nice little burger joint when we walked in. Order at the register and they bring your food out. But the service I feel made it feel like more than just a nice little burger joint. The staff kept coming to the table to make sure everything was going okay. The food came out so smoothly, just the only thing is I asked for my burger to be medium well and I think it was medium or medium rare. It's ok I still ate it lol. It was delicious, regardless. They don't have a kids menu and the food is a little pricey ($60 for 2 with dessert). But everything was awesome.

This place is amazing! I love the burgers - best in the nation - and all their menu items which Lenore Gilbert makes herself. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is sooooo good. This really is a 5 star restaurant and I drive from South Miami every week or so to get my fix of the many home made items. I highly recommend this small slice of food paradise.

Amazing burgers! The goat cheese & caramelized onion burger is orgasmic! This is a family-friendly, family owned business with awesome food, awesome service, and Lenore Gilbert, the owner, is a joy. Everything is home made! This is my third time driving 45 miles to partake in the best burgers and desserts ever. What an enjoyable experience!

A mellow burger spot is always what's good in just that many ways especially when they are doing it right! So coming here was kinda a random thing as we wanted to go to the beach on the way home and this was the bookmark that was right in our path so we stopped and what we found was some yummy burgers! Of the many options I went with the Dominican burger it was very yummy and kinda unique as it had a thick cut piece of salami on it along with a fried egg to add that much more zest to it like it just hit the spot for the time being in that burger type of way! Overall this was a mellow little spot with some nice people working here if I lived in the area I'm sure I'd be back to try what else is just that good!

This place is a local gem, and I can't believe I haven't tried it sooner! In short, the burgers here are unbelievable. I got the burger with caramelized onion & goat cheese, and it's probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. My boyfriend got the Brie burger, and he said the same. The owner came around and personally talked to the tables while we were there, which was an awesome touch. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. We haven't stopped talking about it.

Gilbert's isn't a typical place I would give a five-star review, but they earned it. We actually went on our way to the airport, finishing out our vacation. We certainly chose the right place. When we entered, we were greeted by the owner, who explained their history and their philosophy. It was a very interesting story. I'll leave you to hear if you visit. Let's say they care about everyone who visits and treat you like royalty. They have a very nice menu with lots of options. They are known for their burgers, but I had so many in Florida that I decided to try something else. After looking for a few minutes and asking some questions, I decided on a half-rack of ribs. We sat outdoors. It's funny that we were the only ones outside since it was beautiful outside. You order at the counter and they serve you at your seat. I ordered a half-rack of ribs, which came with a few options of sides. Feeling unadventurous, I asked for fries. While I typically prefer smoked ribs, they do partially smoke them. I like that the meat didn't simply fall off the bones. It was served in their barbeque sauce. I traditionally don't have sauce with ribs, but the sauce worked well with the ribs. All in all, I was quite satisfied with my lunch. Gilberts is a "must try" on my list. We plan on going back the same time next year. We fully expect to visit again.

Probably the best tasting burger I've had. I called and ordered over the phone . Regular cheeseburger with all the fixings. The flavor of the burger was incredible and cooked perfectly. Next time trying other Burger selections

The atmosphere was quaint, very laid back. The service can't be beat... they were very friendly. It's a family owned business, which my boyfriend and I love. The half rack of ribs literally fell off the bone and were cooked to perfection. The fries were crispy and delicious. My boyfriend had the Dominican burger, and he said it was phenomenal as well. Overall, we will be back. I see why everyone raves about this place!

We were staying at the Embassy Suites prior to our cruise and wanted to eat something other than from the Hotel restaurant. It's literally a 4 minute walk. Wife order a cheeseburger and it was cooked to perfection. The fresh cut fries complimented the well seasoned burger. I ordered the mahi mahi sandwich with sweet potato fries. Chef suggested to go blackened and add mushrooms. What a great recommendation. Service was wonderfully and would highly recommend.

A Family-owned and run restaurant. The restaurant is cute with an outdoor seating option. It is a casual place. As you enter they have the specials on a board to the right. Right next to it, they have the menus. Someone was there helping and answering my questions. He directed me to the cashier where I placed my order and paid. He gave me a ticket to display on the table of my choosing. Later on, they brought me my order. Voted the best burger in South Florida and I am having a grilled Mahi sandwich lol. Only because I had a burger yesterday. I liked the Mahi sandwich it was good. It came with really good fries. I got a mixture of sweet potato and regular. They should also be known for their fries. They are gooood. The restaurant is located in a big plaza. With plenty of parking all around. The staff is very nice. The service was great and the food was good.

Back again and just as good! This time we had the Crispy Codfish Sandwich (very very good) and the Large Tossed Green Salad with Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette dressing (also incredible). Our side was the Coleslaw because as good as the fries are, we like the coleslaw enough to have two salads! This is a don't miss place.

We had just arrived in Florida, and after getting our vehicle, we wanted a quick bite to eat. After looking at Yelp, this place came up, and the reviews were great, so we thought we'd give it a try. I'm certainly glad we did. The burgers are amazing. I had the Cajun burger, which was drenched in Frank's hot sauce. It had a good kick to it, but what really made the burger was the quality of the beef. It was cooked to perfection and juicy. The food did take a while to arrive, but the service was good. The runner was apologetic, and when it was ready, he got the order out to us promptly. The atmosphere is a sort of sports bar, tvs playing espn and random games. Very cool and relaxed. Good for families.

This is a casual place that popped up on my Yelp map. We were searching for a dinner place away from the beach that wasn't swarming with the college kids for Spring Break. This is the Angus Beef Crumbled Bleu Cheese Stuffed Burger. It was delicious; fries were above average. Order was ready pretty quick. Service was great. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table.

This was a nice family owned restaurant with the owners present and working along side the other staff. The hamburgers ere good, but a high light was the key lime pie which we shared.

Service: It was weird upon entry and thankfully got better. The owner was at the front where she appeared tentative, not necessarily inviting. The daughter came over and interceded with a welcoming smile where I was relieved. We ordered carry out. Food: The burger was well made. It was well done but still juicy and flavorful. I ordered the chimichurri burger on special. It was delicious. It took me two days to finish the Greek salad. An ample serving. We may have been did up charged for the cheese on the burger as mentioned in one of the previous reviews, but it was still excellent. Ambiance: It's a family restaurant where the daughter works the tables and the son takes the orders. I'm assuming the mother is the owner who is supposed to greet everyone upon entry. There are indoor and outdoor space dining areas. There are lots of families enjoying a meal together. We may come back and have dinner there.

Listen I know a few of y'all have been here and read my reviews so you already know I don't typically give 5 stars on a first time visit. It's few and far between. But this place gets it right on all levels! I landed in FLL early so I wanted to do a little shopping before going to my hotel. After shopping I was like oh gosh I could eat a really good burger! I walked out of the TJ Maxx and saw a five guys right across the parking lot. I was like omg! I can't be in FLL and go somewhere I can get at home! So I went to Yelpies to see what they recommend. And man this place did not disappoint! The flavor of the burger was amazing! Service was fast and the restaurant was nice and clean. The burger was amazing! I wasn't a huge fan of the fries but trust me when I say the key lime pie made up for the fries!! I will definitely be back when I'm in the area!

Voted Best Burger in South Florida...No... Best Burgers in the US!!! Heard so much about this place for years and finallly made it here. For some reason I always end up in Fort Lauderdale on Sundays and it's the only day they're closed, but I was coming home from the airport on a Saturday and decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did! Family run and operated. Mrs G is usually there and if you get the chance to meet her...enjoy...she's great and will give you history of the restaurant and tell you about all of the food served and point all out her children. It's so nice to see someone who is so proud of her restaurant, what she's created and her family. Now for the food. Probably THE BEST burger I've ever had! Fresh Angus beef cooked to perfection topped with grilled mushrooms and onions. Served with fries and they will split the fries between the hand cut and sweet potato if you cant decide. Oh and the Ribs...OMG.. mouth watering, they fall off the bone. This was my first time here...but not my last.

I had been to Gilbert's several times about 8-10 years ago and it was great. Made it back today for lunch. It was quick, but the food was fantastic. My boyfriend and I split the Caesar salad and the special burger of the day, Churrasco burger. It was cooked perfectly with a ton of flavor. The salad was light and refreshing, but perfectly tossed and full of flavor. They were quick to bring me a honey mustard for the fries. I saw some holiday cookies in the window and received a deal for buying a half dozen. (Haven't tried the cookies yet, but check out the picture!)

Came for lunch with my elderly mom & hubby. I heard great things about this place. We all had burgers. My hubby was hungry so he also ordered chicken wings with garlic & Parmesan. They were delicious. When we got there- we thought we had to order & serve ourselves. We were a bit surprised but Richard explained that we order at counter & the food will be brought to the table. We were very happy about that. This is a family run business & I have to say- they do treat you like family. Richard was very concerned that my mom would be ok eating her burger. He really seemed to care that she could. That was one of the nicest things anyone has said to us. I had the burger with mushrooms & onions- unbelievably huge- & delicious.I ordered regular French fries- which is a treat for me- always order coleslaw- they were so good!!! Hubby ordered the Dominican burger which was delicious as well. Both my mom & hubby had sweet potato fries with their burgers. They agreed they were so yummy. Lastly- the place has outside tables are well as tables & booths inside. By the counter is a blackboard where the specials of the day can be seen, I didn't get to take pics of the food- next time for sure! This pic is of Richard & me!!! We had a lot of traffic today- but definitely worth it! By the way- the key lime pie was amazing!!! We will be back soon!

Searched for "Best Burgers in Florida" before our trip south and Gilbert's is one of the top spots. I had a cheeseburger w/ American - one of 14 different burgers offered. My wife enjoyed their fresh-caught Mahi Mahi sandwich, one of 6 fish offerings. Both were excellent, cooked to perfection. Lots of other menu items are offered. We chose coleslaw for our sides, and that was good too. Their freshly brewed tea is great. Order and pay at the counter, with food delivered to your table, either indoors, or outdoors under a large canopy. Service is speedy and polite; good for families with kids, small groups, couples, and singles. Take-out, too. We saw current and retired law enforcement officers enjoying lunch, so you know this is a high-value place. This is a family-run business with the owners transplanted from the New York metro area. The son of the founders takes the time to welcome you and, if you're interested, engage you in charming conversation. We'd visited Ft. Lauderdale on our getaway day returning home. There's plenty of free parking in this shopping center location and it's just a few minutes from the airport.

Family-owned and operated in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Passes through for lunch with family. The family members on site were very friendly and welcoming. We all had burgers and/or sandwiches. I also tried one of the amazing-looking cookies. The food was good. The expediting of our food was off. Much of it came out but then there were a couple of items we had to ask about and it wasn't clear why they didn't come out with the rest of the food. I was so full, I didn't have any room for the cookie so saved it for a later treat. It was really good once I got to it.

I ordered the lentil soup with a cheeseburger and fries and my sister got the carrot and ginger soup, salmon and a mixture of fries and sweet potato fries. We also shared a slice of chocolate cake. Both soups were delicious ! I see why this place in known for their burgers - it was delicious ! My sister commented that her salmon was cooked perfectly ! Customer service was above par!

Highly recommended place to eat in Fort Lauderdale! We ordered the wings for starters and it's superb! The ahi tuna salad is huge and the fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I also got the Louisiana Cajun Style burger with cheese and served with coleslaw on the side. It was delicious! We're very happy with everything we ordered. If we weren't so full, we would have ordered a few of those yummy looking treats they have on display. Check out my photos and you'll see. There are plenty of tables inside but it doesn't feel cramped. It's clean, well-lit, and not noisy. It's in a shopping center so there's loads of parking space that's free. You'll see the menu on a countertop on your left when you get in. Decide on what you want to eat then go to the counter to place your order. Ours came out without waiting for ages. Consumed a 5 star burger today from this magical eatery. The Brie burger was so fresh, juicy and satiating. The best first burger experience I could have had from here. The staff was so kind from phone order to departure. I truly look forward to returning soon. Fries are fresh and seasoned, every single ingredient is high quality and well put together. My only preference would be the actual meat being seasoned a bit more but its such good quality meat the natural taste is sufficient. Huge portion that foes not leave you feeling heavy since the ingredients are worthy. The takeout boxes are vented to prevent sogginess! Thank you for operating such a great business! Fantastic food, perfect environment for kids after a day of travel. Service was super friendly, food was amazing. Plenty of cool stuff on the wall to look at. Good amount of "loud" to where it was okay the kids had energy. I had the Dominican burger which was top notch. And the key lime pie blows any other key lime pie I've had out of the water.

First time coming to this restaurant. Saw it had good reviews so I decided to try it. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly face. That was a great touch! Went to the counter to order and took request of getting the Havarti burger. The burgers were good, nothing spectacular. What makes this place super great is how amazing the staff is! Every happy, attentive and friendly! For that I would definitely come back!

I have been going here since they first opened, nice family run business with the best hamburgers that I know of. For a healthy choice ask for saute vegetables instead of the fries.

Everything about this place is amazing! Easy parking, excellent service and food is fantastic. We were greeted right a away and food is made to order. We chose a table and a very nice employee came over right away with napkins and silverware. The food came out about 15 min later and we were first greeted by the most amazing smells. Then the flavor's knocked our socks off! We had both the sweet potato and regular fries. Both were great, I liked the sweet better but my boyfriend loved both. The burgers are very large so hard for me to bite it so I used the fork. I've been here before and had their grilled chicken wraps and veggie sandwich and it never disappoints.

TL;DR: if you are considering to do a delivery with them, don't, they don't respond orders and leave you waiting for nothing. I wanted to try out their Brie burger that I had an eye on for a while. So I decided I would order from them. I selected what I wanted and tried the group order feature from the app they are using to delivery food. After some struggle we could not make it work so decided to take orders the old fashion way :-) We placed the order around 6:30Pm and waited. After some time I decided to check on when our food would arrive. Turns out the restaurant did not answer and so after 20 minutes the order was automatically canceled. We had to find another restaurant, get people to pick again what they wanted and ended up in the rush hour with long delivery time. Gilbert, remove the delivery option if you cannot handle it. It's as simple as that. :-)

Oh WOW!!! The owner actually greeted us and told us about the establishment and menu. Which made me change my order the something even more amazing!!! It's one of those cafeteria ordering situations and you pass the bakery counter first to stare at the largest most insanely beautiful cookies in the world! These are piles of amazing!!!

They do have great burgers and fries, i visited for the first time, the dining room has a very diner dive ambiance to it. The restaurant is run by a family. Basic service is provided by a food runner, don't expect full service, but the person bringing you the food was friendly and attentive. He explained the menu and the ordering process. I ordered the basic burger with mushrooms, caramelize onions and swiss cheese. It was cooked to perfection, very good burger. My wife had the portabella mushroom sandwich and she did enjoyed. She had the sweet potatoes fries and she loved them. We sat in a booth that had seen better days. Is a good place for locals to have a beer and eat great burgers. We will be back.

Burgers were good. The one I ordered, Italian style, came at the right temperature I ordered. My husband's was well done (we both ordered medium). Flavors were good. Environmental is very nice and staff were very friendly and very helpful.

My wife and I were staying at a location hotel, and we were disappointed with the food at the hotel restaurant. We saw excellent reviews for this restaurant and decided to try their food. We picked up twice and experienced some of the best food in the area. I ordered the salmon twice. Then, the Greek salad with grilled chicken. Since we are moving into Fort Lauderdale, I will continue to come back to enjoy another meal.

Soooo good! Stopped in for lunch and I got the Blackened Tuna, with my wife opting for the Tuna Sandwich. The Blackened Tuna was nothing short of amazing. I got the tuna medium rare, bit the typical rare would have been great too. I live in a landlocked part of the country where seafood is not always prepared correctly so I can be a bit skittish, but they know exactly what they're doing here! The sauces were an excellent accompaniment, with a nice kick of spiciness. The slaw was outstanding. My wife's sandwich was a massively stuffed delight, with a very tuna forward preparation, as they don't add a lot to the tuna, which allows the delicious flavor to be the focus. Her slaw was more the standard creamy coleslaw, but also very good. Service was outstanding, and pricing is very reasonable. Gem of a place.

I got the brie burger since I like crispy stuff, cheese and meat....it was really good, moist and well seasoned...a place to come back.... Gilbert's menu will let you choose from great burgers, ribs, home made soups, salads and more...... Daily blackboard specials ensure that you can enjoy great food off the regular menu choices. They are also known for their homemade Key Lime Pie and Cheesecakes. The Gilbert family has served south Florida for the last 10 years and has over 40 years experience in the food service industry. A family member is always on site to ensure quality and great food.....

This is the best burger joint in South Florida. The burgers are thick, steak/house style with a very beefy taste and so juicy! The service is also the best - they make you feel like you are at their home, and it's a family owned business so you are!
