Best Cheap Eats in NYC

"A Contemporary Vietnamese fusion spot run by a Czech chef whose pho shows patient technique: a fragrant, slowly simmered broth with satisfyingly firm rice noodles, plus inventive fusion dishes such as a creamy, spicy coconut-lemongrass soup and a panko-crusted codfish sandwich dressed like a bánh mì." - Bobby Doherty

Can you believe you can get a pho with beef, chicken, or pork for just $14.50 on the Lower East Side?! Their noodle soup is highly customizable: first, choose your base: beef, chicken, or vegan pho, spicy lemongrass, or coconut curry; then select your protein: sliced rare eye round, beef brisket, grilled pork, grilled chicken, or vegetables. You can even add roasted bone marrow for just $6 more! They offer two sizes: $14.50 for a small and $16.50 for a medium. Personally, I found the small size more than enough. It’s generously packed with noodles and meat. My friend thought the medium might still be on the smaller side for those with a bigger appetite. *Coconut Curry Lemongrass Pho $14.50 I chose the coconut curry lemongrass soup, which was the most recommended base in online reviews. It was quite spicy, but I ended up drinking a lot of the broth. Yet I did notice some dryness on my tongue afterward, which made me wonder if it contained MSG. For the protein, I got a mix of rare eye round and brisket. I preferred the rare eye round, as it was more tender.

Google
Not authentic Viet food! I was homesick and searching for a pho spot nearby when I was deeply disappointed with the Chicken Pho I had here. The owner and chef don’t seem to be Vietnamese, as grilled chicken is never used in pho in Vietnam. This completely ruined the taste. Even if I tried to consider it a fusion dish, it’s simply bad. The grilled chicken meat was incredibly dry. Don’t ruin our people food with your bad creativity.

I liked this place a lot. The interior is cute, service was good, and my curry was tasty. It was pretty crowded on a Saturday night but we were able to wait for a table. One thing to note is that they don’t have a liquor license so all the cocktails are soju based.

Google
One of my favs in nyc 🤫i want to keep it lowkey because its a bit small inside but they deserve their flowers. When you need a flavorful broth and god ingredients this is THE. SPOT. I get the spicy lemongrass soup with vegetables. Pristine. Perfect intersection of Thai Vietnamese cuisine. I can't say enough good things about this place. The bahn mi are amazing the bread is excellent pickles are excellent. I love the chicken one and the fish one (still need to try the beef) Love the savory betel leaf wagyu appetizer also

Google
Ordered delivery via Grubhub and decided to get the coconut spicy lemongrass soup (eye round and brisket). It tasted similar to pho, but instead of just beef broth, it was mixed with coconut milk (couldn’t taste much of the lemongrass, which I was okay with). It definitely had a kick to it, but it wasn’t overwhelming. It came with the same sides you would get when you order pho, like bean sprouts and jalapeños. The brisket was perfect and tender but didn’t care so much for the eye-round steak (good meat portion). I usually get it cooked when getting it delivered but didn’t get a choice when ordering on Grubhub, so I had to reheat the broth to cook the meat. Overall, I enjoyed it and wouldn’t mind ordering it again.

Google
Great little spot! My friend and I went for dinner and I got the boba tea, a tofu banh mi and he got a chicken banh mi. All excellent specially the bread was delicious. Also got scallion pancakes which was the perfect way to start the meal. Service was a little slow.

Google
Very delicious! The savory mini pancakes with mushrooms were a star. Really liked them and I think they’re gluten free (didn’t verify). The vegetable pho is great because it comes with tofu and there’s lots of bok choi, peas, and mushrooms. I love the fibre boost. And you can get it with any broth (I liked beef > chicken). It’s a great spot for gluten free friendly food. Good prices for pho. One appetizer and 2 mains came to $42 - very reasonable prices.

Google
I loved the location and the Queens atmosphere, so I was excited to try the Manhattan spot as well. However, the dish I ordered didn’t taste as spicy, and I had to ask for extra chili oil. Unfortunately, the broth wasn’t as good as I remembered from Queens. On a positive note, my friend ordered the coconut spicy lemongrass soup, which was really good! I highly recommend trying that. One last important thing: the prices were very reasonable for Manhattan, especially since you can choose between small and large portions. The small was perfect for me, and with tax and tip, my meal was still under $20! Overall, I loved the atmosphere of the place, and it’s definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
The spicy coconut pho is a panacea. Not even kidding. Should be prescribed by doctors along with antibiotics for any sickness. Very cute inside and staff is always nice.

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures. But we used to come here every week when I lived in the Bronx. Ordered their pho with bone marrow. Their pork belly buns Spring rolls Summer rolls Thai iced tea Service is good servers are nice I miss their little spot before they moved to the bigger location. I feel like the broth was better, they might have changed their cooks

Yelp
Legit Vietnamese spot in the neighborhood. I don't eat beef but my friends like the bone marrow appetizer. The puffed sesame and rice crackers it came with were very nicely presented and carried a nice nutty flavor and were light and crispy. Enjoyed the green curry noodle soup on a rainy day. Could've had a bit more kick to it, but all in all, delicious meal.

Yelp
this place is so good i'm upset I didn't find it sooner! the ambiance was beautiful and the place was decorated perfectly. the service was quick and attentive - they were filling our waters every 5 minutes. the food was absolutely delicious! the fresh seaweed tuna roll was refreshing and light. the mixed seafood in their broth was hearty and the seafood was fresh. the toast was perfect to soak up the broth as well. my boyfriend ordered a cod dish with vermicelli and was amazing!! the fish was tender and so soft. everything here was great, I highly recommend!

Yelp
This spot came highly recommended by a friend, and overall I really enjoyed it. The interior was smaller than expected but decorated well. We started with the crispy spring rolls (they were way bigger than I expected) super crispy, and flavorful. Definitely a good appetizer to share. Originally came in planning to get the bone marrow pho, but ended up going with my friend's favorite: the spicy lemongrass pho with bone marrow. Very glad I did. The broth was rich, comforting, and had the perfect amount of spice. The bone marrow added a deep, buttery flavor . I got a large, but honestly a small would've been more than enough -- the portion was huge. The cocktails were okay honestly nothing bad, just not super memorable. Service was decent as well not the warmest, but we got everything we needed. Overall, if you're craving good Vietnamese food in the city place is definitely worth checking out .

Yelp
The spicy lemongrass soup has great flavor. I would consider coming back because it is a convenient option but it didn't knock my socks off. Would be great on a cold, rainy day.
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint inside with nice interior design. The pho was really filling for what was deemed the small portion. The flavor was good and you got a decent amount of meat for the price! They also have infused water which I found really refreshing and unique.

Yelp
As someone who grew up eating authentic Vietnamese food, this is probably my favorite Vietnamese spot in Manhattan. The dining area is decorated to be warm, welcoming and almost tropical-like with various plants. Every time I've been here, I've had the pho, which is flavorful, served hot and honestly, feels like it heals the soul without being too heavy of a dish. I've also had the opportunity to try their bone marrow add-on, which I thought was unique and tasty. This is definitely a much more "rich" option to choose and you can easily share this with someone. I've also had curry here, which was wonderful and had a unique flavor. This is also much more filling. This spot has cured many hangovers for me.

Yelp
I came here for the first time a few days ago and really liked it. The pho was really good, I didn't love the noodles but the broth was good. I also got the bone marrow for an extra $7. It really hit the spot. The chicken wings were very crispy and wonderful. My friend got a drink and she said it was great. I really recommend coming here when you're craving some pho on a cold day. It was a cute place to sit and chat. We weren't rushed and the service was good. The food and drinks came very fast.

Yelp
This might be one of my favorite vietnamese restaurants in New York City. Not only are all the menu options good, but the atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming. My go to order is the spicy coconut pho, and it is the perfect level of spice for me. The broth is great and I liked how the spice doesnt mask the undernotes of the actual broth. The noodles are chewy and yummy. Although the portions may seem smaller than other pho places, it is actually pretty filling. If there was any questioning of where my friends and I would want to go to grab lunch, this would definetly be one of the places. Service is also just as great, my friends and I are never rushed to finish and the staff ensure we like things the way they are.

Yelp
I really haven't had great Vietnamese food in New York. I'm sure I'll get killed for that take like any other semi-polarizing take I have, so let's chalk it up to me not having been to the right spot yet. I'm a hopeless optimist, so I had a great feeling walking into Ginger and Lemongrass that I would have finally found a great Vietnamese spot. My eternal optimism, as it so often does, let me down once again. While there were some high highs, like the grilled beef wrapped in bettel leaves and thai coconut curry, there were equally low lows - that vermicelli bowl had overcooked, lukewarm chicken and the ingredients felt like they had been sitting for a little too long... Everything else (the shaken beef, chicken wings, steamed pork belly buns, summer rolls) were a solid 7/10. Good, but not great. Good is the mortal enemy of great. Overall, it just felt a little uninspired, kind of like this review is. It's hard to write when I'm not inspired. I honestly would come back and just get like 3 orders of the grilled beef wrapped in bettel leaves. Those were elite. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Yelp
Service - the service was good. we were seated five minutes after we came and they were pretty attentive with anything we needed. Food - Overall, wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Yellow Curry with Mussels: this was basically like soup instead of curry. it didn't come with any veggies and the mussels were overcooked. Anything else you'd like to add Lemongrass Tofu Sandwich: the sandwich was good, but it didn't have anything outstanding about it. The bread was really good, but I've had better. It was missing a flavor element. We came Friday around 2 PM for a late lunch. The place was pretty lively and well decorated. I've been meaning to try this, so I was a little bit disappointed. Maybe we ordered wrong, but I might give it another shot later.
google avatar

Yelp
3 stars cause most of the things on the menu are a hit / miss. The summer roll would've been great but the pork inside was SOSO SO dry, even the sauce didnt help the dryness. If the meat was more juicy or tender it would have been great!!! The spicy lemongrass pho noodle soup however is ALWAYS a hit!! Def give that a try.

Yelp
Received a delivery order from here the other night. Everything *looked* enticing but was basic for the most part. Ordered: Chive Dumplings + Tofu Summer Rolls + Veg. Spring Rolls + Panko Cod Banh Mi + Lemongrass Tofu Banh Mi + Lychee drink + Passionfruit drink + Mushroom Dumplings + Ube cheesecake with dragonfruit + some kind of mango pudding dessert. BF thought all apps except the summer rolls were a little fishy. i didn't note that with the only ones i tried (chive dumplings). The saving grace, my Cod Banh Mi, was incredible. Ordered it "super spicy" style (jalapeños + chili oil). Never had a non-vegan version before. Crispy exterior roll, soft interior, crunchy classic julienned veggies, a beautiful symphony of flavors. I had the other half of it the next day straight from the fridge and it was almost just as great. I didn't get a chance to try the desserts or other apps aside from the chive dumplings -- i thought they were a little undercooked/doughy and could have had a more pronounced chive flavor, but my parter was not a fan

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed my experience! Service was fast and efficient. Initially thought I would be dining solo due to some plans that fell through, but the staff were very accommodating when I asked to add another person to my party halfway through my meal. Their iced coffee was so delicious. I ordered the green curry, which probably could have benefited from some extra salt, but overall pretty good. My friend ordered the coconut lemongrass soup and I immediately regretted my order. The soup had incredible depth of flavor, I wanted more even though I was full from my food. The infused water was an unexpected but fun touch!

Yelp
I almost never rate takeout, because well, it's takeout, but the Pork Belly Vermicelli Bowl tasted like they warmed some frozen Pork Belly up in the microwave and paired it with some mushy rice. So either don't get pork belly from here or don't get takeout from here.

Yelp
Food 2.5/5 Service 3.5/5 Ambience 3/5 Pretty decor inside. We walked in at about 5:00pm and were seated immediately. Service was good. Our family ordered the Pho with beef and the bone marrow, the fresh spring rolls with shrimp and the fried spring rolls, a vermicelli pho and a medium beef pho (my dish). The table water was refreshing and interesting infused with fresh basil, slices of ginger root and cut lime. The food is average at best. The broth in the beef pho did not have any depth of flavour and the beef was very lean and chewy 2/5. This is a Vietnamese restaurant and a Pho is usually a mainstay. I do not recommend it.

Yelp
The best pho I've ever had! Cocktails? Even better. Everything is so well balanced. From the food to the drinks. Service is great. Very attentive. The decor is so cute as well. This place is such a gem. Keep up the good work guys! x3

Yelp
This place is amazing!! At 8 on a Friday night we were quoted a 45 min wait for 6 people. So we went to a bar and then was called 20 min later to come back, we could make it back later then they wanted us to but were very accommodating. The moment we sat down we were given water, I love that. And it's special water infused with mint and fruit! The waitress even asked if we had any allergies. The space is small but there are two bathrooms in the back and the whole restaraunt is decorated very nicely. There is a giant Buddha statue sitting on the bar. It's so cute inside and very relaxing. The food was amazing. I got the salmon roll, and split it with my husband's chicken sandwich. The salmon roll was good. Green tea noodles didn't taste like anything different from regular noodles but it was cool to try. The chicken sandwich had good flavor, we got it mild but it was still a bit spicy. Portions are a good size and the prices are super affordable. It was about $15 for the sandwich. And $13 for cocktails. $15 for pho. Very large portions for the prices and quality of food is high. The ube cheesecake was delicious and had fresh dragonfruit and blueberries on top. Great consistency, sweet but not too sweet and I tasted the ube. I got the cocktail with Pandan in it and it was delicious. I loved it. It was so pretty and had edible flowers on it as well. They even have a cocktail with boba! Everyone loved their food and drinks. It was about $35 a person for us which was really good price for NYC. The tip is included for a party of 6 but we were totally okay with that. Wait service was so nice and attentive and refilled our water. I would definitely come again if I am in the area.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Great service, good food, and nicely decorated restaurant! We got the tofu summer rolls, wings, and spicy lemongrass soup. I'm not sure what's up with some of the reviews cause this place is 10/10.
google avatar

Kyna V.

Yelp
If I could give a restaurant 6 stars, this would be it! Their coconut spicy curry pho blew my mind! I recommend adding bone marrow in it, it makes it even flavorful. This was such an interesting fusion of viet and thai food. This place is not expensive either. This restaurant was unforgettable. Their service was also great and the spot is so cute
google avatar

Yelp
Hm...not sure what to say about this place because I really wanted to like it. The beef tartar bone marrow: This was fatty and pretty good. I think the flavor could've been stronger but overall it was fine. Really loved the chip/cracker it was served with. 3.8/5 The shrimp eggrolls were fried to perfection. They were yummy. 4.5/5 The wings were okay. They were on the saucy side and slightly spicy but not too memorable. 3/5 The pho: brisket was dry and the broth didn't taste authenic. I know it's a Viet fusion spot so I will give it that but hmm...I feel tons of hole in a walls in Chinatown do pho better. 2.5/5 The shaken beef was so dry! It came with rice which was great but ehh. Not too fond of this. 2/5 Service was good and it was so crowded! Like to the brim. They have lots of customers so maybe it just wasnt for me.

Yelp
Haven't had Vietnamese food in a while so decided to give this place a try esp since it was a recommendation. We only had spicy vegetable lemongrass soup (came w thin noodles) and UBE cheesecake due to dietary limitations. Both items were good and I absolutely enjoyed the Thai iced tea. Service was good and the decor is beautiful! Curious to try their lunch menu.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite pho spot in Manhattan. I always get the coconut spicy lemongrass pho with rare eye round & bone marrow (which is only $6 extra). The small soup itself is only $13 which is very affordable for NYC. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is very cute and aesthetic. It's a small spot, so definitely better for small groups. The service is usually good, but in this cold weather they've been getting busy so it might be a bit slow at times!
google avatar

Yelp
Soooso yum!! Some truly authentic vietnamese food. It was AMAZING!! Perfect place for a cozy meal in a cold winter. Everything was flavored so perfectly, it tasted like I was eating my Vietnamese friend's homemade food. Portions were perfect (which I find to be sometimes difficult to find at some restaurants).

Yelp
I had a great dining experience at Ginger and Lemongrass- delicious food and delightful cocktails- love the atmosphere of friendly and comfortable with pleasant decor. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. Definitely worth the visit!!!

Yelp
Ordered two coconut lemongrass soup for delivery. It was soooo good. A bit spicy but not too much. The lemongrass flavor was not too strong. Citrusy... the chicken had very nice grill flavors. The chicken was also very moist and soft. The delivery came right on time. I can't comment on the place since I didn't go there. Love it.

Yelp
Terrific lunch at Ginger & Lemongrass on the LES. We started with the roast pork buns. Two of us had the vermicelli bowls (one lemongrass chicken; the other with pork belly). My other friend had their curry. The food was great! The restaurant is a beautiful space and the service is terrific. They also have a very interesting cocktail menu. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My partner and I visited Ginger and Lemongrass on a Friday night and waited 45 minutes for a table. The interior is very cute and welcoming, perfect for photos and also just a happy place to be in, especially with the decor and overall vibes. The Yuzu Margherita and Thai iced tea were both very yummy drinks (the Yuzu Margherita grew on me after a few sips). Thai iced tea was free since I checked in on yelp! I ordered the spicy lemongrass pho with the beef brisket combo, and my partner ordered the beef pho with combo. The beef pho was good but nothing special. The spicy lemongrass soup on the other hand, was really good. My partner definitely stole my soup a few times. The spring rolls were fresh and good as well, but the pho sides (the lime and bean sprouts) were very sparse. It came with 3 slices of jalapeño so we asked for more, which they gladly provided. Overall I enjoyed the food and ambiance - the pho was nothing special but it would be a cute place to grab noodles and a drink for a date or friend gathering once in a while!

Joe B.

Yelp
Been on a hunt to find the best Pho in Manhattan and i think i just found it. The spicy coconut lemongrass pho with chicken. Added vegetables also. Its insanely good. Completely Gluten Free. Serious serious pho shop here. They drinks are also pretty cool and the staff is super nice. Food comes out fast as always at a Pho shop and discounts for cash

Yelp
Expertly crafted Vietnamese food with additional featured menu items. We ate as a family, and each of us had a delicious plate. The passionfruit mousse and pea flower tea were outstanding. Our soups, helps us cope with the cold. Thank you for making us feel at home.

Yelp
My favorite viet food place ever. I always get their spicy coconut lemongrass noodle soup with eye of round beef and grilled shrimp papaya salad. I love the soup. I love how their food is not overly seasoned, the taste has layers, and got me ordering from them multiple times a week. Really nice interior design as well! Considering the quality of this place, they are so good for their prices!
google avatar

Yelp
I have never been so DISAPPOINTED in a viet places before. The food was either too sweet or salty. We actually came here because the review was good and the atmosphere looked very pleasant. We ordered: Thai Iced Tea: it was wayyy to sweet and you could not taste the tea flavor at all. Never have I had such bad thai tea. Wings: WERE SO FRICKEN SALTY. At least it was crispy tho. Spring Roll: was made with really thick skin and super chewy. Shaking Beef: was only ok. This dish is suppose to be such an amazing dish. They had watercress that was not cooked and drenched in lemon juice. Although the white rice that came with the shaking beef was good but that was it. The rice was good. Save yourself the disappointment and skip this place.

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened here-- the Yelp reviews are great (at time of review) and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, yet I had lowkey one of the worst phos ever here. I wouldn't necessarily say it was bad, it was just so bland that after a few bites I had absolutely no appetite for it. My friend got the Bahn Mi, which had a weird aftertaste but we couldn't pinpoint what it was. At around $13 each the food is definitely delightfully inexpensive, but I'd rather pay more for good food. Service and staff were nice, though the food came out pretty slowly, one of the servers repeatedly checked up on us which was appreciated.

Yelp
*sigh* Just the thought of this place warms my complete soul. This place is absolutely incredible. Located in the heart of Lower East Side (luckily walking distance to me), Ginger and Lemongrass is what I crave when I'm extremely exhausted after a long flight, on a cold winter day, when I'm feeling a bit under the weather OR just when I want a truly home cooked meal that is FULL of flavor and fresh ingredients. As a celiac (gluten-free) customer, it's amazing to know that they're menu is pretty much (~90%) gluten free and they're happy to make accommodations to ensure it's safe for me. My continuous go to's: - Shrimp summer rolls: 10/10 SO GOOD. So fresh, so delicious and always a hit. - Sweet & Spicy Chicken wings (NOT gluten free, avoid if you are GF): overall very good and flavorful! - Coconut Spicy Lemongrass with 5 star beef brisket: 1000/10. Do yourself a favor and just order this if you want a warming full of flavor pho dish. It's served with rice noodles, jalapeños, chili oil sauces and much more. The beef brisket is INCREDIBLE and the only meat you should get with this soup. It's so tender and just adds so much flavor to the soup. - Bone Marrow: SO JUICY and worth it for $5. HIGHLY recommend and the staff always goes above and beyond. Quick tip if you live near-by, ditch the DoorDash/UberEats fees and call them directly to deliver your order to save yourself some money

Yelp
One of my favorite places!! Best soups from pho to curry. Very good size portions and I'm satisfied every time I visit/order from Ginger and Lemongrass. I do love the location, it's tucked away from busy blocks of LES. Although the restaurant is small, you can snag a table without a crazy wait. AND it's also excellent for delivery. I've gotten soups delivered, which could be a hit or miss for restaurants, and they came well packed and as tasty as during a dine-in. The appetizers and cocktails are also great. I've tried all apps from the menu and enjoyed everything. Highly recommend the pho or lemongrass soup and papaya salad. Simply the best!

Connie L.

Yelp
Spring roll - salty. Not crispy. Skin was thick and chewy Chicken wings - salty. Crispy though. Shaken beef - bland. Beef was mushy... not tender... not good. Thai iced tea - too sweet My friend and I were so disappointed. The atmosphere was ok.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
Mediocre experience. I had the pork and mushroom spring roll and the beef pho with sliced beef round. The broth of the pho was not flavorful at all. It tasted like grocery store bought broth. The broth is the most important part of pho, and it was messed up. There was also too little broth. The bowl was not wide enough to store the broth and noodles, so there was just way too much noodles.

Yelp
Ginger and Lemongrass was founded by a European couple who fell in love with the flavors of Southeast Asia, studied those flavors in their country of origin, and opened a restaurant featuring those flavors. And almost as a rebuke to all food purists and zealots, Ginger and Lemongrass is a testament that no matter who makes the food or how the food is prepared, it can still be delicious. In an unassuming exterior on Rivington St, Ginger and Lemongrass serves one of the most flavorful meal combos with your choice of entree and appetizer at the very affordable price of 15 dollars (and a little more during peak hours). I chose a Shrimp Summer Roll for my appetizer and the Spicy Lemongrass Pho with brisket. While my friend chose a Tofu Summer Roll with a Grilled Portabello Mushroom Vermicelli Bowl. The summer rolls were fresh and light served with a tasty peanut sauce. The texture was perfect (unlike the bad summer rolls you get with the chewy rice paper). The flavor imparted by this Spicy Lemongrass Pho for 15 dollars is almost criminal. The broth was fragrant, savory, light, not too spicy, and flavorful. They also give you their house made chili paste on the side if you want to up the spice (which I highly recommend because it also adds a nice sweetness and depth to the broth). They also give a decent amount of meat and just the right amount of noodle for a filling lunch. My friend also enjoyed his vermicelli bowl. Service is friendly and the ambiance is casual and lowkey. None of the pretentious overpriced Asian Fusion decor or energy is here which makes the place feel much more endearing (like a hidden gem). I will definitely come back for a delicious affordable lunch that doesn't make me feel bad about myself.

Yelp
This is a really solid little spot. The service is great, super friendly. The restaurant has a very relaxed vibe with cool decorations. They also do a lunch special - $17 for an appetizer and entree. The spring rolls are very vegetable-heavy which I personally don't prefer, but the peanut sauce that comes with it is amazing. The beef pho is delicious, especially paired with the beef combo. The coconut spicy lemongrass soup is also insanely good, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the chicken with it. Only real complaint is that you have to add a lottt of sriracha to make it spicy. Their iced matcha latte is surprisingly great - with oat milk it's the perfect sweetness level. Overall love this place, it's a great lunch spot.

Yelp
Came here on a whim on a cold day. Cozy interior and cute decoration. For two, we really enjoyed the coconut spicy lemongrass soup - the flavor was so hearty and delicious. We thought the shaken beef was just okay - great sauce, but the beef was definitely overcooked.

Yelp
My friend and I came on a Sunday afternoon. I expected a wait but the place wasn't busy at all and we were seated immediately. We shared the beef wrapped in bettel leaf, which was super good. Then we both got the chicken pho. I got the small size, which is still super big. My friend also for ginger honey tea, which she liked a lot. This is definitely some of the best pho I've had in nyc, so I'd love to come back.

Yelp
I love me some Viet food, but sadly this just wasn't it for me. I first heard of this place through Instagram - mainly because of the nice decor and ambience.. and I'll agree with that, the interior is really cool. However, the food was a bit too Americanized for me. For starters, all the items on the menu were English food items. I'm obviously not Vietnamese, but I like seeing authentic Vietnamese dishes on the menu (things I don't know) to validate the authenticity of the restaurant. The quality of the food was good, but the pho was just lacking something.. that fatty rich flavor just wasn't there. For example, you know when you walk into a Chinese place and everything is in Chinese and everyone is Chinese... THATS when you know it's good. It's a chill spot for a quick lunch, but not my favorite.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Been here a few times along with the Whitestone location. Ginger and Lemongrass is a vietnamese fusion restaurant that seems to combine both thai and vietnamese style dishes. I came here most recently on a Friday evening with a friend without any reservations. Our estimated wait was about 40m-1hr, which was reasonable for a busy Friday night. Luckily there are a lot of niche cocktail bars in the immediate area. My friend shared the beef carpaccio, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The cocktails were great as well! Asian inspired cocktails are always a good hit. I got the thai yellow curry with mussels and noodles, which is my usual go-to order. My friend ordered the pho which had great flavor. The only thing she mentioned about is that she wishes they offered tripe in pho selections. Otherwise the service and food was good! Would come back here again!

Yelp
I visited with some friends yesterday after having this on my list for a while. Our friends were late, and when we asked for a table they said we could only be seated if our friends would be here in the next 5-10 minutes (totally reasonable, but just saying to make sure you arrive together or know how far away they are!). We ordered the fried chicken wings as an appetizer, and all of us ordered pho for the main dish. I thought the chicken wings were really good, but the pho was not very flavorful, with kind of mushy/weird textured noodles that I didn't really enjoy. My friend ordered his with the bone marrow add on, which he said was worth it since there is quite the generous amount of bone marrow included. So might be worth if you like bone marrow a lot, but otherwise, I'd probably go somewhere else for pho!

Yelp
Awesome Vietnamese spot! Walked in at 7 on a Saturday and there was no wait. My boyfriend and I tried: + Thai iced tea - free with Yelp check in + Summer roll with shrimp + Beef pho with spiced rare eye round and beef brisket combo + Massaman curry with chicken and white rice + Ube cheesecake The summer rolls, pho and curry were all standouts, but the cheesecake was my absolute favorite - worth the trip just for that. Great prices, too.
