The 18 Best Ice Cream Spots In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Ginger’s now has locations in Beverly Grove and El Segundo, but this boutique ice cream shop started in Culver City, where it became a local favorite thanks to the huge number of flavors, flexible tasting policy, and super creamy and smooth ice cream. They’ve got everything from raspberry panna cotta to Vietnamese coffee, but you’ll probably find it hard to go past the billionaire brownie. You can get your ice cream in sandwich form, or you could go the ice cream pop route. Live your truth." - cathy park, brant cox, sylvio martins

Google
Our whole family loves coming to Gingers for the absolutely best ice cream. Our favorite is definitely strawberry, but the lavender and honey flavors are incredible too. They even have the rare passion fruit — an unbelievably amazing taste. For chocolate and vanilla lovers, it’s pure paradise with rich flavors and plenty of toppings. This ice cream never fails to impress — we just love this place!

Google
They have lots of flavors. Everything I’ve tried there is delicious. It’s a bit pricey so wouldn’t come here regularly but it’s a treat once in a while. The pint is a great deal compared to individual scoops.

Google
Bf and I came here twice during our trip to LA. Glad they allow samples but it does get busy during the weekend (as to be expected). Flavors are alright, I would only come here to try different flavors each time (which is what we did). Only bummer is that we were looking forward to trying the Campfire Marshmallow flavor, but when we asked to sample it (twice) the worker scooped from the Viet Coffee bin both times. Albeit they do look similar in color, but we were already defeated from the day we had and didn’t bother saying anything cuz at the point we just wanted some ice cream. Overall I wouldn’t go out my way to get ice cream here, but it’s alright if you’re in the area.

Google
Great little local corner ice cream spot in the neighborhood! I like that they offer a whole vegan section as well, and they use a coconut milk base…I’m allergic to almonds so I can’t have an almond milk base. good ice cream isn’t cheap anymore at most places… But, they are about average with every other quality ice cream joint. Good selection and great quality ice cream. They give you a decent size serving and they will split it between two different flavors for a small extra charge. I do crave ice cream from this place now, not gonna lie… It’s definitely worth it to give it a try.

Google
Yum, yum, yum. What an ice cream place. So many incredible flavours- very simple, to extremely mind boggling creations. Staff were super helpful and friendly. My friend who can only do Vegan says this is the best spot for Vegan ice cream. They even had a Boo Halloween flavour! They source their produce locally from farmers markets, and make their brownies and cones in-house. And absolute delight of a spot if you go for dinner across the street.

Google
lots of street parking around the area, especially towards the evening/night time! good selection of ice creams and even vegan ice cream! a bit pricey for ice cream but i think it’s made up for how large the scoops are. $12 for 2 scoops can be easily split amongst 4 people. their pint/quart to go containers are also glass jars, which also justifies a bit of the price difference. otherwise, average pricing for this area, i highly recommend :)

Google
Great ice-cream in the Venice / Mar Vista area with very cute patio seating to the side. They have all the traditional favorites but also some great creative flavors, which I love. We prefer this ice-cream place in comparison to Salt & Straw. Highly recommend.

Google
I have been eyeing this place for years, and I always wondered what the big deal was. Last night, on our way home from my favorite sushi place, we decided to stop by and give them a try. The place is cute and the staff is helpful and super friendly. My kids like to taste all the flavors, and we usually get impatient staff who refuse to give them more than 1 or 2 samples. To our surprise, the young man behind the counter was amazing and gave them whatever they wanted with a smile. Once we got our ice creams, my son dropped his on the floor while being playful. He was really sad, so I asked the guy to give him another one. I was expecting to pay for it, but to my surprise, he replaced his ice cream at no cost. The quality of the ice cream was amazing and not overly sweet. I hate eating ice cream at most places because it is usually super heavy and too sweet. We tried the lavender, mint chocolate, salted pecan, S'more, and some more, all of which were just delightful. I am sold and will be coming back for more regularly. Ratings: Service: 5/5 Quality: 5/5 Flavor: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5

Yelp
Delicious ice cream eats with hipster outdoor seating. They let you taste their different flavors - everything was pretty good. Had a couple scoops and hung outside to enjoy the nice Los Angeles summer weather. Would come back!

Yelp
Woah, what a treat. This $8 single scoop of lychee pomegranate sherbet was Devine. A unique flavor I have not had before. I was tempted to buy a $30 quart but was afraid it would melt on the way home. Definitely brining a cooler next time. Ginger's is on the higher end of hand made ice cream but definitely worth the scoop. Treat yourself...and make sure you sample a few flavors. Street parking is a bit limited and I had to feed the meter. There is plenty of seating outside. We enjoyed our scoops on some comfy chairs and the weather was perfect. Enjoy!

Yelp
So many flavors to choose from! I swear I tried like 20 flavors before I could make a decision; I felt so bad for the person helping me out but she was very nice and provided some recommendations based on the flavors I was sampling.I ended up getting a single scoop of the calamansi yuzu, which was an awesome, refreshing sorbet to have after dinner. My friend and I were thinking of getting a scoop each, but as soon as she scooped my one, we decided to share because it was such a large portion. I think I would've opted for the kids size if I knew how high they were going to load it up with ice cream! They have lots of seating outside for you to sit and enjoy your sweet treat.

Yelp
One of our favorite ice cream places in LA. They have an amazing and ever-changing array of inventive flavors, and the scoops are very generous. The ice cream has a great mouth feel to it - creamy without being too dense. Some of my favorite flavors are the cherry chocolate brownie, raspberry panna cotta, and pickled strawberry and blueberry pie (it's not sour). My husband loves the lavender honeycomb, and my daughter loves the pink grapefruit pink peppercorn EVOO sorbet, to give you a sense of how interesting their flavors are. It's a bit off the beaten path but totally worth the trip
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Such creative flavours and shout out to their wide vegan options! I'm not vegan but I loved their flavour offerings for began ice cream just as much. Bonus because it sits better for those with lactose intolerance. I loved that you can sample flavours before deciding which one to buy. Shout out to their service for being so patient with people who are sampling. Highly recommend - can't go wrong with any of their flavors, they've got options for people with a sweet tooth or for those that prefer something lighter. In a nice part of town, not too many seats but a cute vibe for a last min scoop.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I found this place driving from a nearby park. We're both fans of a good ice cream scoop. ICE CREAM & WAFFLE: good taste over all. There's so many unique flavors and almost too many to make the best choice. It's good though, plenty of variety. The waffle cone had vanilla bean in it, pretty good. HOWEVER, it is too too sweet I mean too sweet. Everything else is good, but we won't go back since it's much too sweet. SERVICE: a redhead man was helping us. He was friendly but not very customer service oriented. No complaints though, I understand they're tired. AMBIANCE: best part, it's on corner, nice colors, plenty of nice casual movable seating outside.

Yelp
This place is simply amazing but Parking can be a nightmare. I thought this was just another bougie ice cream place. And while still bougie, the service and flavors set them apart. They have gluten free options and all healthy options to choose from. But if you're having ice cream, just have the real thing. I tried their Vietnamese coffee and brown sugar bourbon. It was heaven! They have sugar cones and waffle cones. Also cookies and brownies. The place is small so with a few people it may feel crowded but they have sitting area outside. Great for families.
google avatar

Sharan K.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream spot of all time. The flavors are so unique! And if you're a non dairy ice cream lover this is the place. There's so many options and you honestly cannot tell that they're vegan! Scoop sizes are definitely generous as well. My husband and I usually share a single scoop size and split and get two flavors (they charge $0.50 extra for this, totally worth it) but it's the perfect amount. Service is great the get you in and out quickly even with a line and people sampling (which they allow you to sample as many as you want). It's a mom and pop vibe with high quality ingredients!
google avatar

Lilou K.

Yelp
BEST ICE CREAM EVER! The cutest place with outdoor seating, tubs of their ice cream to take home, and delicious ice cream! The service is so kind and fast. If you are thinking about going..... trust me... you should go.
google avatar

Therese G.

Yelp
All flavors are superb at Ginger's! Although the priciest of micro creameries, I truly believe they are the best. They use real chunks of honeycomb, brownies and berries in creamy churned bases of dairy or coconut milks. I usually get a pint and share, but this time this indulgence is just for me. Definitely worth the trip to Ginger's every time!
google avatar

Kevin E.

Yelp
AWESOME! So many great flavors to try. The key lime was really tart and so good. The passion fruit had intense flavor, not just a hint. And they had many vegan options for my dairy intolerant daughter. Staff patiently let us try lots of flavors but were still efficient. The shop had lots of outdoor seating so we could sit and relax and enjoy our ice cream. I got a single scoop but it was really big. I think I'll get a junior serving next time!
google avatar

Peter H.

Yelp
This is a really cute handcrafted ice cream shop. There are a ton of very unique flavors and if I remember correctly, there is a very large selection of gluten free choices. I'd saw get the ice cream and waffle for best overall taste. Choose whatever flavor you like but I HIGHLY recommend the butter pecan! The only downside is parking is tough!
google avatar

Celine I.

Yelp
Lots to taste and everything is amazing! came here around 10:30pm on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy (probably because it was a cold night), but the staff was soooo nice! They let me sample as many ice creams as I wanted and the selection of vegan flavors was amazing! Ended up getting a split scoop of billionaire brownie and milk and cookies and it was soooooo good! The scoops here are huge, so I could see myself sharing if I just needed a small treat to cap off the night! Parking wasn't so bad, but it is street parking so keep your eyes peeled! They also have plenty of outdoor seating around the corner to hangout if you want!
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding! Most satisfying cup of ice cream or sherbet I've had in a long time. Original flavors (especially love guava) and when I despair my favorite is out of season -- I discover another one!!
google avatar

Trinny T.

Yelp
My lavender and honeycomb ice cream is delicious. I ordered a regular size and despite it was pricey, the portion was big. Beware of the honeycomb sticking hard to your teeth though. It is crunchy like cookie. Overall, this is a place I'd recommend friends to try. The cons are there isn't any parking. You can park in the Beverly Grove area though. Street parking is hard to find. The shop is also tiny and don't have enough places to sit.
google avatar

Judy H.

Yelp
Amazing little ice cream shop. Total hipster vibes with great ice cream options. They have vegan and prepackaged Togo. The service is always pleasant and it's super clean. Definitely worth stopping by!
google avatar

Alexis D.

Yelp
Ice cream is obviously so delicious. They have a ton of flavors with great variety and it's what makes me come back every time. However the service has sucked 3x in a row now. It's these blonde high school girls that look like their parents forced them to get a summer job and they're taking it out on customers instead of just sucking it up or finding someplace else to work. They give me the GenZ stare when I ask for anything and they just look like they're in silent agony the whole time! Praying for yall. I know it sucks to start having responsibility and being an adult! I've worked in service growing up too and I know it's hard some days but also can you not look just a little less annoyed that you're there? Also don't serve me soggy ice cream lol. Close the freezer doors.

Yelp
Stopped by this cute handcrafted ice cream shop after dinner. There are a variety of flavors, and the staff is super helpful if you're unsure of where to start! We walked in near closing so we beat the line, but there were a lot of people in line around 8pm. The prices are a little steep (~$7 for a kiddie scoop that isn't well packed down). However, you're definitely paying for the variety and uniqueness of their flavor profiles. I loved how they included different textures in some flavors! Mine had a vanilla base with brownie chunks and pecans -- I forgot the name of my flavor. My partner got dark chocolate s'mores (a dark chocolate base with cookies and marshmallows). Overall, I'd stop by again if I'm in the area for food! There are cute tables set up right next to the shop so you're able to enjoy ice cream with your party. *PS It'd be cute if they decided to serve dog friendly ice cream cups. Saw a few dogs in line, so we stopped by hoping to pick our dog a pup cup but there weren't any.
google avatar

Brianna R.

Yelp
So many fun, unique flavors! The staff is friendly and don't scold you for wanting to try flavors, which is always nice. I opted for a cup, but you can smell the cones when you walk in, so I'm sure they're great. The ice cream tasted really rich, balanced, with real flavors. Lots of vegan options, too. There's some seating outdoors. Parking is street parking.
google avatar

Corina R.

Yelp
Super good ice cream. They have flavors. You cannot find anywhere else. Stuff that you think is weird but taste delicious. It's a bit pricey, but once again, you get what you pay for and I highly recommend stopping in for a scoop
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Yum! Even on an overcast and cool day, ice cream is always a good choice! Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon, no line and quick service. Our ice cream was creamy and flavorful!
google avatar

Martha N.

Yelp
This place is a serious Gem. The young lady behind the counter made this experience so awesome. Tatum truly helps make the place stand out. She was friendly and funny. Helping us try different samples and helping us decide on our final choices. I think this place was worth the wait and now I understand the hype. Loved most of the flavors, but I have never found boysenberry flavored ice cream before. It was delicious. So was the billionaire brownie. I can't wait to try more flavors next time. With the summer in full swing, everyone should try this place and see for yourself!
google avatar

Andy T.

Yelp
This place is great. The ice cream is so....creamy and flavorful. They had a seasonal strawberry flavor when I came and it was definitely not artificial at all compared to some other ice cream spots. Don't let the prices push you away. A single scoop for 8 dollars (?) is humongous. Make sure to split it in two flavors or do a double scoop and split both into two flavors. Get all those flavors in your belly. The staff is great. They were really patient when it came to us sampling. I really enjoyed the mocha oreo flavor. There's a good number of sitting areas outside the building too.
google avatar

Emmanuel J.

Yelp
Stopped by Ginger's Devine Ice Cream on a whim and I'm so glad I did! I ordered a Butter Pecan waffle cone, and wow; SO good. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of pecan crunch. The customer service was just as sweet. Super friendly staff, no wait time at all, and everything felt really welcoming. The whole place has a chill, relaxed vibe with a cute aesthetic - think cozy, clean, and Instagram-worthy without trying too hard. Keep in mind, just like the rest of LA... there is only street parking and it gets tough. Thankfully, I drive a small car. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Ginger's is definitely worth the stop. Can't wait to go back and try more flavors!
google avatar

Jenny S.

Yelp
FINALLY got to try Ginger's and man have I been missing out, the constant crowd here is very much justified The first 2 flavors I tried were winners and I ordered them immediately with a split scoop ---Lavender honey comb + blood orange chip: they just nail the flavors and sweetness level here, not to mention the texture It's probably a good thing I live so far or I'd be here way to often
google avatar

Natalie Z.

Yelp
My first visit to Ginger's was their location near the Beverly Center, and I was blown away by the sheer amount of creative and vegan-friendly flavors (I am not vegan, but it's nice to see that there were many options). I remember loving the pickled berry pie ice cream. My most recent visit was to the Marina del Rey location after a Costco Run. Parking here is a little challenging, but I parked in the neighborhood and was in and out in 15-20 minutes. Again, I was excited (and overwhelmed) by all of the unique flavors. Before I decided, I sampled a vegan flavor, EVOO with pink pepper and grapefruit, but did not enjoy it. Oddly enough, it kind of tasted like vodka. I got a split scoop of pistachio and the smoked almond rocky road. The pistachio was disappointing--it tasted overwhelmingly of fake pistachio-almond extract, which I think was worse than the pistachio ice cream you can get from Ben and Jerry's and Häagen-Dazs. The smoked almond rocky road was much better and had a good almond-to-marshmallow ratio. I'll have to come back to sample their most popular flavors, but after this experience, I am not jonesing to go out of my way to do so.
google avatar

Camsie M.

Yelp
I was in town visiting friends, who are obsessed with this place! We easily found street parking and the store is on a super cute strip. There are so many flavors! And they are all interesting and unique. Lots of vegan options which I appreciated question... I had the chocolate peanut butter crack, and the passionfruit. The chocolate peanut butter was not quite salty enough for me, but the passionfruit was the real stand out. Delicious!
google avatar

Lorraine A.

Yelp
My new favorite ice cream place! Ginger's Divine Ice Creams is a small shop in between Culver's city and mar vista. Walking in, you are immediately greeted by three nicest employees as well as the sight of the various choices of ice creams and baked goods. We were helped quickly and we took to sampling out the different ice creams on display. I ended up settling for the raspberry with brownies as well as a giant chocolate chip cookie. Everything I had was delicious and you could taste the amazing quality. The shop is small so there's no seating inside but there's a few tables outside along the shop that you can sit at and enjoy your dessert. I would highly recommend!
google avatar

Skylar K.

Yelp
The ice cream here is so delicious. Anytime we are near Gingers, we always have to go. The service was very nice and let us try lots of flavors. They also have great outdoor seating with plenty of room to enjoy ice cream.
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
We came up on this after a full day of driving around LA and I am so glad Yelp found this for me. Ginger's has great ambiance, great service, tons of great flavors to try and huge portion sizes. It's no where near my home but I will for sure be back.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Ginger's has lots of cool flavors, the service is spectacular, and it has a cute little outdoor area too. I personally loved the vegan chocolate peanut butter, it was even creamier than the regular version! I also tried this pickled berry (& cheesecake?) flavor, but the chocolate peanut butter was definitely the best! Ice cream: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: 4/5
google avatar

Cassie O.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream place in all of SoCal! Love the yellow chairs outside and it's pricey but they give huge scoops so it's worth it. Lavender and honeycomb is my go-to. Whenever a friend visits me from out of town, I bring them here!
google avatar

Brenton B.

Yelp
Amazing!! Always happy to see the white/yellow little bungalow housing this amazing neighborhood ice cream shop as we cruise down Washington Blvd. Parking is on street both directly in front of shop and also down the adjacent residential street. Sometimes there can be a line but definitely worth the wait!! Very happy and friendly staff who genuinely want to help and also care about your experience. Ice cream is fabulous!! Great texture, consistency, and flavors. Definitely get some packed to take home as well!! Stop in as soon as possible!!

Maxwell G.

Yelp
The ice cream here is amazing and so is the ambience! There are so many flavors to choose from and the staff are great. We got helped by an employee named Emerson who was so kind and patient. We will definitely be coming back! Thanks Emerson!
google avatar

Chad R.

Yelp
Not messing around! They say it's divine and yes it is. The selections of seasonal standards and vegan options is impressive. The unique proprietary ice cream pops and pints to go just add to it. The outdoor seating helps because this popular ice cream joint has a flow to it. If you are considering this after a dinner at Hatchett Hall or just while you are in the hood... just do it.
google avatar

Gloria L.

Yelp
Food = 4 Service = 2 Parking = 3 Visited for the first time last night. The ice cream is good, and they have a great selection of vegan flavors. The service however was off. The worker who served me seemed annoyed when my partner and I asked to sample two flavors each. There was a mixup when we asked for two scoops - one flavor each scoop (because my partner and I were going to share), and he gave me one scoop split between two flavors because I think he thought it was just for me. Not a big deal, mixups happen, and I wasn't annoyed yet until I saw him rolling his eyes at us. Sheesh, dude. He did apologize for the mixup, and maybe it was genuine. Maybe this dude was just having an off night, because he clearly didn't want to be there. My friends who are regulars say that service is usually good. It's a little pricey at $8 for one scoop and $13 for two scoops, but perhaps I'd visit again to try out more of their vegan flavors.
google avatar

Evelyn R.

Yelp
5 stars for customer service. The girl wearing a Ginger's goodie today behind the counter was super nice and helpful. Great customer service. Great ice cream and baked goods. Would definitely come back and recommend this place. Large selection too. My favorite was the key lime pie flavor :)
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
Although the ice cream continues to be amazing, the people working in the store are very unfriendly and not helpful at all. I've had several friends mention this lately and I noticed it myself today and last Sunday. I'm really bummed about this . It makes me not want to visit Ginger's anymore
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
All the ice cream on display was melting, and the caramel and other toppings were apparently frozen solid so customers weren't allowed any. The whole store was uncomfortably warm. I'm sure the ice cream tastes just as bad as it seems to suck to work there. It sure is disappointing because this place was once decent.
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Really delicious ice creams and so much variety! The shop is small and most seating is outside but the ambiance was great and felt like a retro ice cream spot. I absolutely loved the lavender honeycomb flavor! It was not too sweet and the honeycomb was crunchy and caramely in flavor. The kids scoop came to be almost $8 with tip so a little pricey. Service was not the best since the worker helping us seemed a little stoic and overworked but I would still want to come again to try more flavors! Street Parking can be found in the neighborhood or just outside
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
The cookies 'n cream was delicious. Quick and Friendly service. Outside seating is cute.
google avatar

Lo S.

Yelp
The bourbon chocolate ice cream was pretty unique. Glad we have a local ice cream shop, and their flavors rotate. There's some outdoor seating, and none inside
google avatar

Claudia B.

Yelp
This was our second visit to this wonderful ice creamery. OMG, I didn't think it was possible to improve upon an already perfect experience here, but they did !! This time, I got 2 little scoops in a cup. I got the Billionaire Brownie again cuz it's sooooooooo good, and I paired it with butterscotch with Oreo cookies. Wowwwww !! Aside from always intense flavors, there's LOTS of added ingredients to sink my teeth into and taste. Lots of fudge, brownies, pecans, marshmallows, oreos, butterscotch, creamy vanilla ice cream. There's just no shortage of flavors, and it's incredibly delicious and satisfying. Dare I even say kind of orgasmic? Lol. But it is.
google avatar

Patty S.

Yelp
Yummy!!!! They stay open until 11pm!!!!! Great staff! To-go mini cooler bags for take-out soooo good. I highly recommend them. They are on a busy street, but surprising enough there is always plenty of parking and it's a peaceful adventure. Not loud. Very pleasant
google avatar

Melinda C.

Yelp
Tons of flavors to choose from! I sampled the yuzu boysenberry and it was my favorite but they were practically sold out of it by 6pm. Workers were nice enough to hand out multiple samples to people in line. I ended up getting a single scoop of the raspberry panna cotta ($7.95). Street parking only.
google avatar

Virginia D.

Yelp
VEGAN REVIEW Best place for vegan ice cream on the west side. Many flavors. Line can be long, but worth the wait. Cute shop.
google avatar

Sean F.

Yelp
Ginger's is a cozy little boutique ice cream shop with 45+ unique flavors of some of the most tasty ice cream I've had in a while. On a Friday night, which is when I went with my girlfriend, the line was quite long but the staff were quick to move people through while allowing multiple taste tests. In a place like this, you really want to choose the right flavor, and not once did I feel rushed making a choice even though there were a good number of people behind me. And I easily tasted at least five different flavors! I eventually settled on a scoop of Vietnamese Coffee, and my girlfriend went with half Vanilla Bean and half Yuzu Boysenberry (both pictured). They were both really unique in their flavor profile and very cold, but not overly frozen, which made them easy to eat. Once we had our ice cream, we made use of the ample outdoor seating to eat our scoops before they melted. There's about 10-15 seats and 4-6 little tables for groups to enjoy. And the string incandescent lighting adds a pretty intimate mood, perfect for a summer night. Ginger's is great for the ice cream enthusiast! Pro tip: get one scoop! The scoops are ENORMOUS. My girlfriend couldn't finish hers, and even me being a big fan of ice cream, had trouble finishing mine. The staff really makes sure you get the most out of the $7.95 you pay for one scoop, which is great, but... it's also a lot of ice cream. Another pro tip: bring some form of digital payment or your cards, because this location doesn't accept cash. I don't carry cash anymore and I'd guess many others don't either, but something puts me off about a business that doesn't accept legal tender.

Yelp
Below mediocre flavorless overpriced ice cream. I had to power through eating it. Lacked the right creaminess, sweetness and texture. Lady giving samples was quite rude.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Yummy ice cream. The shop is cute and I love the string lights at night. The young lady helping me was kind and patient, especially as I wanted to try three flavours and they were quite busy. I got a split serving of Billionaire Brownie and Vegan Almond Mocha. Both were delicious. My friend told me I should try the big brownie or a cookie ice cream sandwich the next time I go so I am looking forward to that!
