My great Aunt, who's originally from the Brooklyn area, ADORES this place because she stands by its authenticity. She wanted to come here for her 80th birthday. I'm quite delighted we did, as it was a very enjoyable experience on a Thursday night.
We got reservations for our 8 person party and were promptly seated once we'd all arrived. The inside is a bit intimate (that is-- cramped, but not unduly so, my great aunt was still able to make it to her seat with her walker) with homey Italian decor. If you're planning to go at a busy time or night or weekend, reservations are probably a good idea because it didn't look like they could pack too many people in there at a time.
Bathrooms are gender-segregated despite being singletons... so that's pointless, may as well have two gender-neutral ones instead then, imo; could use a refurbish, they were looking worn out.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive and fun; they seemed to enjoy working there and interacting with folks.
We were kept waiting on the bread awhile, but once they'd gotten fresh bread, they kept it coming, replenishing as we snarfed away at it, refilling our oil and garlic dip too. Appetizers were out quick! Calamari was delicious and had good texture. With so many yummy-looking menu options, I had a hard time settling on just one. But I got the lobster ravioli as an entrée, and each one was pleasantly plump and filled with lobster. Nice!
This would've been a four-star review, but honestly what tipped it to five for me was the bonus carafe of Dr. Pepper I was brought, and the AMAZING Lemoncello cake. I normally never splurge on dessert at a restaurant, but the birthday girl insisted, and I'm so glad she did. Some of the best lemon cake I've ever experienced. The delicate fluffiness of it, plus the flaked white chocolate on top was just exquisite! I savored every bite.
Grabbed a mint on the way out and made a mental note to come back again sometime to try more of the menu!
