"Subtlety of flavour is what this chef prizes: the native flavour of the ingredients must shine through. Exemplifying this principle are the wanmono, with broth prepared using Rishiri kombu for its umami. Delicate broth highlights the flavours of seasonal ingredients: fat greenling in spring, hair crab in summer, daggertooth pike conger in autumn, oysters in winter. Takikomi-gohan, mixed rice, cooked in a broad-brimmed pot is a point of pride. Lift the lid, and seasonal aromas billow out, announcing the changing seasons." - Michelin Inspector

Really disappointing experience. Together with my fiancee we were having a celebratory evening after getting engaged, getting big promotions and as a conclusion to our 5.5 week trip. As food lovers we wanted to have a michelin star experience and this restaurant was recommended by a friend who had an amazing experience a year earlier. The evening began great; good service and the staff had placed a 'congratulations card'. The ambience was really nice so we were excited for the rest of the course. We took a glass of champagne and the sake pairing. 8 courses we were gonna receive. The first dish was nice; mixture of crab and seasonal ingredients. But hereafter the dishes got worse. A soup with no taste, a yucca with only a piece of yuzu on top of it and to top it of we had for dessert 2 small pieces of fruit and this all for a wonderfull price of 450 euro.... The only thing we liked was the sashimi but to be honest I had better sashimi on all occasions in Japan. The sake pairing was nice.... Furthermore there was no interaction with the staff, this could be a Japanese thing but in all other restaurants we went there was a lot more interaction. In summary this was our worst place to dine in the whole of Japan and we came out crying instead of laughing after a night what should have been a memorable evening. Don't go in here unless you want to eat very boring food or if they found there way up again.

For a kaiseki experience at a one-star Michelin restaurant, expectations for both flavor and presentation are understandably high, yet the meal could be elevated further to truly match its prestigious rating. While the seasonal ingredients and multi-course format showcased authentic Japanese tradition, a few dishes lacked the complexity and refinement one would expect at this star level. Service and ambiance were pleasant, but some courses felt routine rather than memorable, indicating room for greater innovation or deeper care in preparation. A one-star Michelin rating signals “high quality cooking,” but to fully justify its distinction, the kaiseki here should show more standout creativity and exceptional flavors in every course

We enjoyed a refined and well-balanced meal at Ginza Toyoda. The ingredients were exceptionally fresh and clearly of high quality, with each dish showcasing a thoughtful approach to seasonal flavours. The atmosphere was quiet and serene, which allowed us to fully appreciate the meal without distraction. The sake pairing complemented the courses nicely and added to the overall experience. For those who are less accustomed to strong seafood flavours, the dishes here are well-balanced and not overly “fishy,” making it approachable for a Western palate. One note for first-time visitors: the signage at the entrance and on the street is only in Japanese, which might be a challenge for those unfamiliar with the language—something to be aware of if you’re visiting from abroad. Overall, a solid Michelin-starred experience in Tokyo.

This was my first Michelin experience in Japan, and it lived up to our expectations. We came for the lunch service. We were served a seven course meal, including my first ever experience with cod milt. The flavors were nuanced, balanced, and clearly prepared by someone who takes pride in their cooking. The service was extraordinary- I feel more on par with a 2 or 3 star restaurant. My favorite item was the rice pot- scallops prepared with rice was amazing! Also the fruit dessert gelatin was absolutely delicious. I could have eaten nine of them.

I had a summer lunch set today. They change the menu in monthly based and this month is Yuzu month. Every meal is connected with yuzu with layers of different tastes.

Very very disappointed. I have no choice but to say, awful restaurant. First, when I enter owner talked with regular customer and did not say anything to me. He forcused on the coversation. This is not common in Japan, and I felt it was rude. Second, almost of all plates were normal but not beyound ourexpectation. Not diserved as michelin star. Just for your information, the free green tea was very lukewarm. They seems not have HOT green tea. If you wanna lose your (not reasonable) money with boring dishes, you should go.

Traditional Japanese 8 course meal. It was easy to make reservations through their website and they were patient and accomodating. The chef made an effort to communicate using Google translate.

We booked through an Amex's pocket concierge which is a great way to have high quality dining experiences whilst in Japan. A fantastic meal, staff were extremely friendly and good in English.
