"It’d be easy to cut a few corners, running a beach town deli that would draw in summertime crowds no matter what. Maybe take a little break from trying hard, or trying at all. Thankfully for everyone involved, Giovanni’s would never. The family-run deli makes a truly outstanding hoagie, one that would be among the best—even in Philly. The Diablo, with hot capocollo, is a favorite, and vegetarian or not, you should try the Jersey Basil with ruby red local tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. (If you’re not, though, definitely add prosciutto.) Instead of a backdrop of the Schuylkill, you’ll get to unwrap one from your beach chair, fending off seagulls while you enjoy the ocean view." - regan stephens, sydney mcelwee, candis mclean

Ordered the Diablo Italian Sub/Hoagie. Fresh Roll, nice amount of tasty meats, fresh veggies and they have cherry peppers to upon request. My first visit. People were friendly, King Sandwich, so yummy. When you walk in the store the smells carry you to the counter. Fast service, clean store, nice people, excellent food. I will be back. Thank you for a great experience.

Fugetaboutit, this place is the real deal. Giovanni’s has the best sandwiches in Sea Isle City and beyond. The meats are top tier, the bread is always fresh and delicious, the portions are very filling and the service is very good. The roast beef is rare and tender as it should be. The prosciutto is melt in your mouth. The sharp provolone will cut your tongue, Yum! They have other great (Italian) food items in the store but my go to is the Hoagies. The “Old World”hoagie is to die for.

Google
The staff was all so nice! We got our food in record time and the attention to detail was incredible. All the ingredients were super fresh and the menu options are so authentic. It’s hard to find a deli with prosciutto in general but I’ve never had better than the kind they use here. It wasn’t stringy and melts in your mouth. I’ve been craving it since I first tried it. Highly recommend this place

Google
I didn't particularly like the meatball Parmesan sub which influenced the 3 star rating. Other than that, it is a nice sandwich shop, Friendly staff, limited seating inside just a small counter top and two small tables outside but is very close to the beach so you can pick up a quick bite and picnic there! Just be prepared, is cash only.

Google
Great bread, great meat, and great cheese. Perfect ratio of all three. They put on just the right amount.

Google
I came in here to get a loaf of Italian bread and picked up red peppers for our Italian dinner. This is a great authentic Italian deli. Decent prices and the food was great! Had a little trouble trying to find parking, without using the parking app, but I was successful! 👍

Google
Pepper turkey and pepper ham - amazing! Love the Macaroni salad too! Everything is super fresh. Liscios rolls

First time going in. Felt like I was right at home back in South Philly. Seeded roll, great cuts, and very friendly staff.

Yelp
So I spot Giovanni's this afternoon while attending the Sea Isle festival but it was after I had already eaten. With a 3hr trek home I decided to grab an Italian Hoagie for dinner. The owner hooked me up by wrapping all the fixing separately....lets call it a travelers sub. Bottom line, the sandwich was good despite not getting to it several hours later. Next vacation, I will eat all of that and more on the spot. Great service!

Christopher S.

Yelp
Really love Giovanni's after going multiple times the past few years. The energy inside is always amazing, the staff is so friendly, and both the sandwiches and side items are excellent. The picture doesn't do it justice below -- the Italian Diablo was super good with a great seeded roll and with a definite kick to it. Will be ordering again. In my summer tour of Jersey Shore Sandwich Shops, this is right at or near the top of my list. Highly recommend!!!

Bill F.

Yelp
Great consistent quality sandwiches and Italian deli items. Italian hoagie on seeded roll, side of red skin potato salad and deli pickles

Sandi M.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! The best meatball sandwich I have ever had and I consider myself a meatball connoisseur( (not really but I REALLY love meatballs. Amazing! I was just sorry I agreed to split one with my friend. We also split a delicious Italian Hoagie. Service was friendly on the mid-week day. I'm sure they are slammed in summer so be patient...it's worth it!!!

Branden B.

Yelp
Great family owned business that represents a historical spot in Sea Isle City. I knew the original owners decades ago. Happy to see, smell, and taste the continued quality of sandwich's there.

Josh S.

Yelp
This is a very good place for a hoagie. They use Liscio's rolls which is always a good call (I like seeded) and they do advertise some Thuman's on their menu so that's a plus too. We ordered the Italian (cooked salami, genoa salami, Thumann's hot capocollo, provolone) and the Old World (Prosciutto, dry capocollo, sharp provolone). Both were good, the rolls were fresh and they had what they said would be on it. My only points of contention are that the meats on the Italian were cut a little thick but on the Old World they were cut perfect. Also, they do something that I see in Delco a lot and can't get my head around, they put the lettuce on the roll first, then the cheese, then meat and so on. The problem with this is the lettuce which is comprised of mostly water gets the roll soggy, it doesn't take long at all. Second, if you take a bite you get all of the flavors of the meat, cheese and tomatoes and then suddenly a pocked of rabbit food. It just doesn't mix right. But those issues are minor, they make a mean hoagie and I would actually travel out of my way to get one again.

Nick B.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I always come here to start our trip in Sea Isle and it truly never disappoints. I love the Italian Diablo sandwich and think this is a great deli with many options.

Maryanne C.

Yelp
Meatballs/sausage/sauce/ bread made a delicious dinner for 12. 6 hoagies fed the gang lunch and they loved them. Seeded rolls way to go. Thank you for great service and food!

Diane B.

Yelp
Quality is always good Go there every time we are down. This time we tried to order 2 -6 inch sandwiches- the young girl said "we can't cut the roll"- I said I want a 6 inch sausage and a 6 inch turkey- use the same roll. She said ok. I got a 12 inch sausage and 6 inch turkey (obviously they cut that roll). Specifically asked for seeded rolls and got plain. Charged correct price.

Denise T.

Yelp
Best Hoagie anywhere! I'll be back soon! I was in the mood for an Italian hoagie and found Giovanni's. You will not be disappointed! Denise Tenaglia

George M.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the Italian Diablo subs we ordered. All ingredients were fresh and tasty. The subs were large and the price was reasonable.

Donald R.

Yelp
Another week at the shore and my lunch spot everyday and it hasn't disappointed as usual. The staff are the best and the food is fresh and always amazing. My favorite sandwich spot hands down.

Payal P.

Yelp
Looking to Sea Isle for an Italian hoagie? Look no further! Giovanni's Jersey Basil is a local favorite. The sandwich shop is a local family owned business. We added on prosciutto which really complemented the basil and mozzarella cheese. The Italian hoagie was really good as well. We tried out the regular bread as well as the seeded. Both tasted freshly made and were very soft. Both hoagies had a good meat to cheese to bread ratio! Hoagies aren't usually my thing (I am an add chipotle sauce/mayo- which might not even be a hoagie at a point) but for a tradition hoagie- this is worth it!

Jim S.

Yelp
You have to try this deli if you have not....the best Italian hoagie you can buy on the island. Brat other Italian food as well.

Heather B.

Yelp
Something happened since last year , we would go out of our way to get these sandwiches. Now they are just mediocre. The bread used to be amazing! Now it's just ehh. Our order was wrong and just not good . I wish if they changed the bread they would go back to the way it was last year and year before

Lauren L.

Yelp
Absolutely love Giovanni's. I've been traveling to Sea Isle for years with my family. When we go down for the week, we are in there 3 or 4 times. Their Italian is a classic. All of their food is delicious. The service is wonderful and the owners are beyond kind.

Charlie B.

Yelp
Great sandwiches just like you would find in South Philly. The prosciutto was excellent

Samantha H.

Yelp
Came here a few times this summer. This is a nice little Italian deli. It isn't big compared to other ones I have been to. You can get sandwiches made to order. But, when I came here it was mainly to get things for dinner. One visit, we got chicken cutlets to go with dinner and they are delicious. The meatballs are also amazing and huge. I got chicken salad to have for lunch one week and it was really good, but heavier on the celery, so depends on if you like it that way. The prices I found to be reasonable. The employees were nice. Definitely a good place to have in Sea Isle.

Liam S.

Yelp
best hoagie at the shore and not even close. everyone that works there is super nice and appreciative. top 3 hoagie place anywhere

Alan D.

Yelp
Best hoagies in SIC for many, many years !! Great quality Italian meats and cheeses, with top quality seeded rolls !! Long hots a must as well !!! Staff and timelines of delivery always on par !!

Sarah K.

Yelp
Love this place amazing sandwiches and Italian supplies they even sold us a head of garlic.

Alicia O.

Yelp
As always, food was delicious, staff was warm and friendly, store was clean and organized. Always our go to when in SIC.

Yelp
We recently placed a catering order for our beach day wedding and Giovanni's exceeded all expectations! We ordered 100 subs & 10+ lbs of pasta salads, picked them up the day before the wedding and were worried that they wouldn't be as amazing by the time we served it, not the case at all! Everything held up perfectly and all of our guests were raving about them! The seeded rolls are epic, the rotini salad was amazing and the macaroni salad was perfect! Their hoagies were the one item at the wedding for which 100% got eaten and people still asked if we had any leftover the next morning!

Joe T.

Yelp
The go too place for sandwiches Enough said. Try the macaroni salad as well. Order ahead to save on the wait.

Mikyung H.

Yelp
Philly style hoagies as you can tell by their roast pork & broccoli rabe and their support for the eagles! Sandwiches are simple and to the point, they weren't trying to reinvent the wheel and come up with crazy variations to their sandwiches. Would've loved to try their italian hoagies but refrained since I am pregnant at the moment. Overall, great experience and would order again if in the area postpartum!

Melissa H.

Yelp
This place is awesome! They have the best Italian hoagies on the island, hands-down! We ordered an Italian hoagie last weekend and it was amazing. They also have good macaroni and potato salad. Don't miss this place when you are in Sea Isle City! Love it.

Robin G.

Yelp
We found this place by accident, but what a happy accident it was!! We had biked over from Avalon to lunch at a cute outdoor BYOB spot, but it was closed (still in off-season), so we started riding around and stopped over at Giovanni's Deli and quickly looked them up on Yelp - 4.5 stars?! Green light by me! Despite being offseason on a holiday weekend, this place had a line! We waiting and spent the time deciding what we wanted. There were 2 couples, and we each decided to order a 12inch sub to split. We actually both sprung for the 12-inch seeded roll they were advertising for .25 cents extra - definitely a good call, the bread was amazing! My husband and I split our "usual" which is turkey, roast beef, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion with a little oil/vinegar. It was supremely delicious! They had a pickle vat (sounds slightly unappealing to call it that), and were selling pickles bigger than my hand for $1.19 - so naturally we got two! Pickles were delicious, but also MASSIVELY too much, even though I split it with the hubs. And yes for the record, we spent the meal making big-pickle jokes #adultsohard. Chips and drinks available by the register/cold cases respectively. Even outdoor seating for groups or individuals, right on the sidewalk in front of the shop - both covered and uncovered. No frills, no nonsense, but a really good deli! I would definitely eat here again.

Erin P.

Yelp
We had the best Italian hoagie from this place! They have a extensive menu of sandwiches all of which look amazing! The people were friendly and service was quick! Overall highly recommend!

Catherine S.

Yelp
The best hoagies you will ever have. Very kind shop owners with amazing meats and deli items!

Alexandria G.

Yelp
So far we have been here 2 times and bought 5 different sandwiches. They have all been amazing. We are all planning one more trip here before we leave.

Peter S.

Yelp
If you're getting subs in Sea Isle, this is where you go. Fantastic bread and the meat quality is far superior to your standard beach sub shop. I always stop by when I'm in the area.

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Came in here 15 min before they closed to pick up a hoagie for the road. I got turkey and cheese with some specific instructions. They made it perfectly. Everyone was very friendly. I was very impressed with the amount of Italian products for sale also (lupini beans, cheeses, pizzelles, etc.). There is no seating. I'll be back.

Sam S.

Yelp
One of the few places anymore where you can get real, quality Italian cold cuts. They don't skimp on the meat and the rolls are always fresh and never "gummy" like Amoroso's. I have to say though, I got the roast pork and broccoli rabe today and instead of the pulled pork it was a drier, less tender, and less flavorful sliced pork loin. Bring back the other way!

Min A.

Yelp
Excellent spot for good sandwiches, pasta dishes and everything in between! Their pies are good, too! Friendly service, fresh food, and that's a winner for me!

Patricia O.

Yelp
Great food. Great customer service. Best hoagies on the island. Highly recommend. Enjoy!

Jim C.

Yelp
This is my go to spot when hitting the beach in Sea Isle. The hoagies are great, nice rolls, freshly sliced meats and cheeses too. The rest of the food is good too, like the pasta salads and caprese. You can't go wrong with anything here and the people are super friendly.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Yum!!! Ordered 2 hoagies to go. They were delicious and the pasta salad was great too! Love the little noodles! I would highly recommend this place!

Tom D.

Yelp
Best deli on the island. Italian hoagie is awesome. We had ordered an anti pasta tray which was so good all our guest raves about it!

Mary S.

Yelp
Great place for takeout and.Italiano food. Love their Italian sándwiches and native specialties l

Michael H.

Yelp
Love this place. Best deli meats and bread. Love there pickles and loaves of bread. Highly recommend

Jamie L.

Yelp
Always amazing food and service! I can't not get a hoagie from here when I'm in sea isle!

Shannon B.

Yelp
Love this place! Quick service! Very friendly. Amazing food. Call ahead to place your order to avoid a wait. Highly recommend the chicken special sandwich and the macaroni salad

Mj N.

Yelp
Giovanni's has the best hoagies on the island, the caprese hoagie is to die for. And don't miss the homemade pizzelles!!!

BethandGus H.

Yelp
We were on vacation, so we did not have our cats with us. The door to Giovanni's was wide open and I'm sure any cat could walk right in with no problems. The beach is a block away, so this was the perfect spot for mid-day beach fun lunch, otherwise known as MBFL. Beth was sunbathing and Gus got the vegetarian hoagie. In true form hoagie makers are supposed to make you feel intimidated and rushed when ordering your hoagie, then take forever to make said hoagie and finally finishing off with an aggressive hoagie wrapping sequence ending in the pulling & tearing of masking tape (that doesn't stick anyway) thus sealing the hoagie order. Giovanni's was not withstanding in this instance - tantalizing the taste buds with their sultry display of hoagie maker customer service. There is no doubt the hoagie makers at Giovanni's are hoagie masters, artists, if you will, at creating the hoagie. The perfect amount of oil and vegetables on a roll whose divine softness yet firmness makes you question: Where did this roll come from? DELIcious The hoagie Gus ate that day was a true vision from start to fart.

Eddie B.

Yelp
This, year round, Deli is outstanding! The food, consistency, and customer service are all top notch. I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here, and I get food from here 2-3times a week. In the fall, winter, and early spring they offer some of the best soups this guy has ever had, you can taste the love. The old world Italian sub is what dreams are made of, the meatballs are some of the best I have ever had, and the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is tasty AF, very friendly and good prices... And they are open year round!

Natalie T.

Yelp
Holy cow! They have the best macaroni salad I have ever had. I have passed by this place for the last year and regret just now stopping in. Their chicken salad is also pretty amazing. I am glad I found this place and cannot wait to return! Probably one of my favorite sandwhich shops in Sea Isle.

Lauren C.

Yelp
My family ordered from them for a party and the hoagies were delicious! Ready on time and super friendly staff! Highly recommend!

Catherine F.

Yelp
I ordered a roast beef sandwich on rye, expecting delicious deli rye bread. I got the cheapest supermarket rye, no flavor at all. The roast beef was not generous. Jersey tomatoes are among the best in the world. This tasted like it was from a Canadian refrigerator. Typically high priced sandwich at the Jersey shore. i would not recommend this restaurant.

Jo S.

Yelp
I am a very big fan of their hoagies, you can't go wrong. Try their Italian hoagie or chicken salad, you can't go wrong with either.
