We visited today. We don't visit a lot, but Giovanni's has always been somewhere special to go.
It was a bit disappointing. Our waitress, I believe, had better things to do. My husband and I both ordered chef salads, mine with parmesan peppercorn dressing, and my husband ordered thousand Island dressing. Our daughter ordered a small Margherita pizza, and we ordered breadsticks with both garlic butter, and marinara.
Since we ordered the chef salads, those are normally ordered as meals, we assumed she would know to bring it with our daughter's pizza. Silly us, nope, not the case. She brought it at least 15 minutes before her pizza arrived. Gave my husband ranch dressing instead of thousand island dressing. Didn't apologize for bringing the wrong dressing.
Eventually brought his correct thousand Island, then brought our daughter's pizza after that. After she delivered that, she asked if everything looked right. I had to remind her about the breadsticks. She said she had to check if they were done.
She brought them after the pizza and way after our chef salads.
Now, when we arrived, they were not that busy. Maybe four tables, maybe ten people total, and at least two waitresses. Actually, more people arrived as we were waiting for our check . Yes, she disappeared for about 10-15 minutes. She apologized to the table next to us for disappearing. Yes, she even said she disappeared to them. She didn't apologize to us for disappearing. She just handed us our check.
We enjoy visiting Mom & Pops. Not today. I should have chosen a different Mom & Pop to visit. I guess I have had my fill of Giovanni's to last me a while.
My husband, blamed it on post-Covid employees. I miss Debbie who used to wait tables there. She was the best. She treated every table like they were her only table.
I understand, she is no longer there, I just wish they had wait staff who actually wanted to be there.
