I don't think you would plan to make a day of it, but this is a fun little stop in Eastsound, and if you're in town tasting all the things, you're definitely going to want to swing by Girl Meets dirt to do some sampling.
I saw their products in the market, and found out online that they have this small tasting room. It's not on the main drag in Eastsound, but just barely around the corner in a new development, with plenty of parking or a stretch-your-legs walk back out on the main road into town.
I was very charmed by the packaging and info from the products I saw, and that charm continues in the tasting room, with products on the shelves, some merch, and a few other friendly products (San Juan Islands salt, for example) and that's about it. The nice person at the counter was busy in the back with jamming tasks, so they let us just taste each of their jams and shrubs at will.
I like that they have in-store flavors only, as they just landed a big deal with Safeway and the product will become more ubiquitous in the Northwest, they'll still have plenty of reasons to visit in person, and those flavors are said to change every month or two (or three).
I loved hearing the story of the company, the history, the connection to the island and as a lifelong devotee of heirloom varietals of fruits and veggies, I'm loving the vertical integration that helps the company preserve the island's agricultural heritage and their friendly stewardship of those old old trees in partnership with the landowners. It's a fun way to spend 20-30 minutes, grab a unique gift, and taste all the lovely flavors of jam. Donut peach and lime, though. That's the one!
