This is the place you're looking for in Galveston. Was recently there while traveling and wanted to find karaoke...Karen and crew were super attentive, welcoming, and fun. Good drinks that are super reasonable. Go for the karaoke (starts at 9pm)!

Perfect place for a stranger. If you don’t know anyone in town, come get your drink, smoke your cigar, have a little chat with bartender. Slot machines in and you can smoke indoors. Lovely!

Great place to play pool. Excellent pool players. People on karaoke real good also.

Stopped in and was immediately greeted by Carmen. She was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcomed along with some of the locals that came by. Wish we lived closer so that I could pop in more often, but would definitely stop in again when in the area.

This was a great place my granddaughter and I were on a little excursion, we decided to ride to Galveston for the day and we went to a couple bars and this place was just a small little bar and the atmosphere was very good the bartender was extremely nice and the people that were in there were great to it was early do it wasn’t very crowded but it was perfect. We r grieving over some passing of close family members so we just wanted to sit and enjoy ourselves and that we did. We even left and came right back to it because we had a little car problem so we needed to sit awhile in a cool place to get our heads together to get home and we went back and played some music and just sat and enjoyed. So I highly recommend this place it was very peaceful and welcoming and very homely.

Yay dive bars!!!! After walking around the Galveston Pier, my husband and I decided we (actually I decided) we needed to get sloshed. I looked up the closest dive bar from where we were and we happened on Gizmos. The bartender was very friendly, and the drinks were cheap. They had plenty of locals enjoying an evening out. I was a bit taken aback by the smoke and slots, but hey! When in Rome right? The place is just the right amount of clean and dirty, just the way a proper dive bar ought to be. Its's a dive bar folks!!! No frills. It is what it is, and Gizmos is a great dive bar.

BEWARE! IF YOU'RE PAYING WITH YOUR CARD ALWAYS ASK FOR THE RECEIPT READOUT OF WHAT YOU HAD AND WHAT YOU TIP! I just got back to Louisiana after stopping in at the bar for a few hours and I asked the bartender (I can't remember her name but a Hispanic girl with glasses?) What my tab was and she told me so I said close me out. (I payed $36 and some change on the card and signed it) and I tipped $15 cash cause the service was good and my bank statement showed that I had the initial $36. THEN a few days later the amount was updated and it said $110! That would have to mean she added a tip on there AFTER THE FACT FRAUDULENTLY! I called up there and tried to talk to someone in charge but apparently they "couldn't find the transaction." Ownership should take notice to this. I can't believe their own bartenders are robbing customers. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE! SIGN BOTH AND KEEP THE ONE FOR YOUR OWN RECORDS!

Great local bar with friendly bartenders and awesome company!!! Really fun atmosphere!!!

The atmosphere in the bar isn't bad by any means. But I don't recommend unless you're a local. Some of the locals are creeps. I went to the bar to get a drink for me and my girl and I could literally see every man in this bar look at her like a piece of meat. Most bars have men like this but it was just a very creepy vibe from most of the men in here. Bartender was rad and drinks were priced well. If you don't care about the creeps, you'll have a blast here.

Gizmo is a Galveston landmark! If you want to know where the locals are - we are here! No food (other than chips) but great drink prices, fantastic staff and warm welcome. Smoking permitted (no foodservice is why), pool, games and great conversation. Karaoke on Tuesdays (usually) and live entertainment most weekends. Parking is streetside so plan on a hike on weekends - but that shows this place is popular!

Great neighborhood local bar. Everyone was warm and friendly. The bartender Carmen was very nice to everyone who walked in, including my dog! Prices are good and walking distance to pleasure pier! I'll be back with my husband!

This little neighborhood bar has recently been renovated including the management,who is super sweet and very quick to deliver you a cold beverage. If you have been there in the past be prepared to be pleasantly surprised and if you havent been there yet you should for sure check it out. Great happy hour,comfortable atmosphere!

Seemed like a cheers like my home bar in Arlington. People were very friendly and drinks were great.

I was really skeptical with the perfect score on Yelp but this bar is amazing. Great service. Reasonable price. Really nice dive bar atmosphere.

Sometimes you just wanna go where everybody or nobody knows your name... This is the place! Come get cheep beers and a nice pool table where you don't have to play "around" people that give you dirty looks when u ask them to move. Plus my favorite Brenna is here during the day Wed-Fri 10-5.
