"Choose between two very nontraditional and flavorful breakfast sandwiches at Gjelina Take Away. First up is the turkey egg sandwich featuring a fried sunny-side-up egg, rapini pesto, and fontina on brioche. And then there’s the GTA egg sandwich with braised kale, melted gruyere, a fried egg, bacon, and hot sauce on an English muffin." - Mona Holmes
"A lot of people in Venice seem to have the kind of job that allows them to take three-hour lunches (probably because they just sold their new networking app to the cloud, or however it works). If you are not one of those people, you will probably not be having lunch at Gjelina today. But if you’re in the mood for one of their sandwiches or pizza, there’s hope - skip the lines and order from GTA next door. The slimmed-down menu has most of the Gjelina classics, as well as some stuff you can only get there - so you can take your pork meatball sandwich back to your desk and eat like your IPO depends on it." - jess basser sanders, amy clark
"Gjelina Take Away is the counter service version of Gjelina, and is just as much a staple in Venice as its larger sibling restaurant. Plus, the food is just as good, and much more affordable. It’s easy to feel like a stereotype ordering kale salad in Venice, but the one here is so good that we really don’t care. For something a little less healthy, go for the brisket banh mi or pork meatball sandwich - they’re both great, and come on Gjusta’s bread. After you order at the counter, head to the adjacent alley and you’ll find some seating." - brant cox, brett keating
"After closing down for a bit, Venice’s excellent GTA is back, serving salads, sandwiches, and most importantly, pizzas. The Mushroom with truffle goat cheese is excellent, but our favorite will always be the Lamb Sausage with confit tomato, rapini, mint, and pecorino. Get a chopped kale salad with shaved fennel on the side - not only is it good, but you should definitely be eating more vegetables. Takeout and app delivery available." - brett keating
"Gjelina is one of the Westside’s best restaurants and you’re craving it badly. But it’s also a complete production to get into and you just want to stay at home and drink wine with your elementary school best friend tonight. Accomplish both with Gjelina Take Away, the adjacent to-go version of the original with fantastic pizzas and sandwiches to help soak up all the wine you just bought. Get the pork meatball sandwich." - brant cox
