"The 48-year-old oceanside restaurant is most famous for its massive patio overlooking the Pacific up in Malibu, though in recent years changes to that property further north have brought about some uncertainty as to the restaurant’s future. This is definitely one of the oldest and nicest place in LA to offer good food next to a public and accessible beach. One of the best time to go is by mid-afternoon as it’s less crowded and in the winter you can enjoy the sunset by 5pm. They do offer a lot of seafood dishes from the traditional clams chowder to the lovely lobster roll. For the kids they have a couple off-menu options such as a special kids fish n chips. Definitely a great spot that I recommend for brunch and afternoon drinks and snacks.

Had some clam chowder and steamers which were very good. Nice location right on the beach with great views. Paid parking. Drinks are good but rest of menu is overly expensive.

What a gem this place is, like a restaurant from the 50s or 60s, the pictures on the walls show the vibe from that era. Gladstone sure has retained that flair. It could not be any closer to the sand beach, or else it would be on a boat. The service was excellent, the food was great, as well as the liquor and beer selection. And the atmosphere? Unbeatable, as a European, I greatly appreciated the location and the absute, unique, so lovely, atmosphere. Parking is right next to it. Great!

Come here for the view, but don't expect TOO much from the food. Restaurant ambiance is really nice and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, which is just beautiful. We got the shrimp ceviche and clam chowder, along with a few drinks as a quick stop after our beach day. Everything was OK, but nothing really blew my mind. -- our bill came out to about $100

Google
The food was terrible, took us 30 minutes just to get seated and at the start all of our plates were dirty and had gunk on them. Don’t order anything from the regular menu, everything was really bad and the mashed potatoes from the extras are literally a brick. Only the kids menu fish n chips were good. It also smelled really terrible and even the signs are broken and the lights don’t work.

Hadn't been here in a bit, and we came out for an early dinner. Loved everything made and served. Thank you, Angel for being such an awesome server. The brownie sundae was a great recommendation and was a hit 👌

Google
Outdoor deck dining. Pleasant service. Ahi sandwich was delicious. Caesar salad was good. Plexiglass obscures the view but keeps the wind out. Not what I remembered from late 80s, but fun to visit. Sun coverage over most of the deck. Easy parking and access for older patrons or those with difficulty walking.

Google
A great place for lunch with a stunning sea view. It’s a bit close to the road, but the sound of the waves drowns out the car noise. There’s parking in front, and you can also find some by the beach. The food is “okay”; I ordered a chicken sandwich, and my friend had the lobster roll, which was delicious. However, it’s a bit pricey for what you get, and the waitress seemed a little fake. Will recommend for lunch. The inside is super cool though.

Yelp
What I love about Gladstones is the close proximity to the beach right below it. You can valet park your car and have the enjoyment of beach plus yummy food at Gladstones. We went on a Friday during the daytime, and it was not as packed as I imagined. We ordered the calamari and burger...everything was so tasty! We also went during happy hour, but because we were in a large group we did not sit at the happy hour section (limited seating/bar). Our server was Devin (hope I'm spelling it right) and he was awesome! Very hospitable and charming also hehe. Devin brought us loaves of warm fresh bread as starters and was extremely patient with us...next time I return will definitely ask for Devin again! All in all this classic beachside restaurant never fails to disappoint!

Yelp
After touring the Getty Villa, we stopped for lunch at Gladstones at the Will Rogers State Beach Park. This iconic seafood restaurant has been around for 50 years and was slated to close last year (late 2023) but was saved by a group of employees and supporters. Since it was 1 PM when we came in, we chose to sit at an indoor patio table. We had a lovely view of the sandy beach, Pacific Ocean, beach goers and a coordinated family event with the L.A. County Lifeguards below us. Our friendly and efficient server (sorry, I forgot his name) identified himself as a former Honolulu-resident since he transplanted himself for higher education in Los Angeles. He gave us the rundown of Gladstones new Summer Menu and fresh seafood before taking our beverage orders. We didn't have too long of a wait as he delivered our refreshing cocktails (Bloody Marys and Kalifornia Kolsch) but it was just enough time for us to decide on what to eat. My BIL ordered the World Famous Clam Chowder and Brioche Lobster Roll and I ordered the Crispy Calamari to share and chose the Tuna Tartare. Yeah, my husband and brother-in-law were surprised that I only ordered appetizers for lunch. However, my husband surprised us by ordering a Classic Burger for lunch. We teased him about ordering a burger instead of seafood at this seafood forward restaurant. He justified his lunch choice by wanting hot, fresh, and crisp French fries, which our server said were "the Best." We wolfed down our tasty food and drinks and enjoyed the view, excellent service, and eating experience here. Still, many of the tabletops seemed sticky because of the constant ocean mist and the vinyl bench seats were worn and a bit tattered; I wouldn't make this location a dining destination. 3.5-stars

Yelp
Gladstones is an iconic restaurant. It is also a beautiful piece of Heaven on Earth, with its amazing scenery. And, to top it off, the food is delicious and fresh. Jody is a skilled and considerate waiter, which made our experience even more special! I highly recommend Gladstones for any beach, seafood, or drink lover! It is so enjoyable without being rushed. Just as a note, the Manhattan chowder and sourdough bread are incredible. And, to top it off, Jim Harris, the General Manager, is always around, hovering, to make sure everyone is satisfied and your encounter at Gladstones is positively memorable!

Yelp
This is an establishment that you come for the views rather than the food. The view is wonderful- perched right on Will Rogers Beach. Unobstructed views if sitting inside along the window, on the deck or on their catwalk! Plus they have happy hour on the weekdays from 3-7pm. Happy hour consist of drinks and food. The drinks include pina coladas, margaritas, beer, and wine. The happy hour drinks are from $5-10 dollars. Also the menu consist of a variety of food items. We tried the calamari- and we thought it was overcooked and fishy. The tomato sauce that came with the calamari was good. The cheeseburger for $10 was a better option- nice bread for the bun. The burger itself was not very thick. Note happy hour is only at the bar or on the catwalk. The catwalk has limited seats and the bar is a bit removed from the ocean view. Both locations are not accessible for those who are handicap- and the hostess would not make an exception for our group. Service has room for improvement- first of all you need to be accommodate individuals with disability. You need to provide equal opportunity for all. Second of all, the service has room for improvement- you don't just throw a check down and walk away.... As for parking- there is a city run parking lot. Parking ranges from $7-15.00. Its cheaper to secure beach parking than restaurant parking- even with validation. Beach parking is only $7.00. Plus there is parking on the streets too. Just be careful when parking and walking on highway one. Given the memories here and the view, despite the poor service and ok food, we will back for the views.

Yelp
Service is pretty terrible, even though it's always dead inside. The food is OK nothing as astonishing. The patio seating is wonderful and has a beautiful view. The vibe is ok outside..

Yelp
This Resturant location is perfect- right on Will Rodger's Beach. You can sit inside or outside. They also have a little area with a fire pit you can hangout at with a drink. Heat lamps are available for those chilly nights. We started off with some drinks pina colada and strawberry daiquiri. Must say the pina colada was refreshing and nicely blended. The daiquiri wasn't so much; the bottom was all liquify and the top more foamy. Not a good frozen mixture. We ordered the clam chowder - which was warm and thick- just the way I like it. Mix it up yourself good though; because most of the clams are on the bottom. If there was some bacon added to it; would have made it even better. I ordered the lobster roll: which was actually pretty good; that bun was toasted nicely; the filling mixture of lobster roll mix was good. Very tasty sandwich - I didn't want to put it down. The homemade kettle chips were good; wish there was some kind of dipping sauce for them. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich; the chicken was seasoned pretty well and the bread tasted freshly baked. The service was good- fast and friendly. Loved the beach views and umbrellas. Valet Parking is next door between $13-$15. The more expensive price on the weekends.

Yelp
Gladstones provides a picture perfect ocean and sunset backdrop in addition to great food to match! Unfortunately they don't take reservations so it's best to come on a weekday. We came in the middle of the day at an off time and had no issue getting a table. They also have a parking lot with valet so you don't have to worry about finding parking. We sat outside on the patio and the sun felt great but sadly the wind was too strong so we ended up shifting inside before the food came. The staff were very nice about it! In terms of the food, I really really enjoyed everything I tired including the Crispy Calamari, Lobster Roll, and Chocolate Cake. The lobster roll was put on brioche bread which was a great complement. I recommend ordering this and I also wish they had had a warm option for it too. The cake was the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had at a restaurant. It can be shared by 5-6 people!

Yelp
Yeah, I know. But, its still the Gladstones experience you go for. On the beach. Great for people watching. Decent menu. And, its a local icon. I had not been here in years (moved away and was back in the are for a long weekend vacation) and just had to go. Loved the view, sitting outside against the rail. Service was good. Food was good. There are better seafood restaurants, but if you have the time and area looking for a unique overall dining experience, definitely go. Lunch is the better option over dinner.

Yelp
Located right on the water on the west side of the PCH in Pacific Palisades. Gladstones is a nice brunch or lunch option but the biggest selling point is the view and not really the food. They also have another location down in OC. Gladstones is a more casual version of Moonshadows down the street. They have a very large parking lot attached that offers valet and self parking. However, you must check in with the attendant first and parking is $15 for self parking, which I believe is a bit expensive given that for beach parking in the exact same parking lot it's $8. I wanted to lie and say I was going to the beach instead, but figured they would watch me walk into the restaurant. Kind of odd that there are two different pricing choices, especially given that most people will stay a shorter time at the restaurant versus the beach. Inside they have a lot of seating options, both indoor and out. Inside is designed kind of strangely with huge open areas in the middle of the booths that are pushed up against the walls. It could definitely use a touchup on the inside and some modernization. Pricing is a bit expensive but that's to be expected for the location. This is not really elevated food location so that's why I don't suggest it as a dinner location, which is what we had for our visit. Our server was pretty nice, although very slow to check in on us and especially to come over and bring the menus at the start. The hostess was very polite though. When we arrived for our 6:30PM Saturday dinner all of the outside tables were taken so we chose to sit inside. We sat at the booths on the inside right against the water, which was nice view. All of the booths are quite uncomfortable though and the cushions definitely need to be replaced. They have a very large menu filled with all sorts of seafood classics, but I decided to try their seasonal menu because one of my favorite items was on it, which was were Sand Dabs. A very classic LA and West Coast only fish dish so I could not avoid that. It was actually pretty good, although the sides could've been better. It's a very easy fish to cook so I expected it to have some great buttery flavor. I also started with a Clam Chowder Bread Bowl and thought that was very good. It could have had more clams in it, but I enjoyed it as a starter. Overall, it was a nice meal, but could've been better. It seems like Malibu does not have a lot of great food quality options but more so places that have good scenery. Even Moonshadows, Nobu, and Duke's are surpassed food quality wise by other places more inland. Giorgio Baldi just west of the PCH for example. You come here for the view and that's the main reason.

Yelp
Beautiful view. The smell of the beach is amazing! Sitting on the deck I believe is the best place to be. The deck is huge, so there are plenty of opportunities. Last time I was here was many years ago(35+)- when first moved to this city...today it was slow, but the food was still fresh and GOOD! The service is a bit slow, but take your time with a friend... enjoy each others company and soak in the view and you will leave refreshed, relax and feelibg satisfied that you had a yummy meal.

Ronald M.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been here but the food is just as delicious as I remember it being. Beautiful view while you enjoy a good meal and they had live music this time. Gladstones has some of the best clam chowder on the west side, if not the best. Service was awesome!

Kimi L.

Yelp
My parents have been coming here for years! I am home visiting Cali and my dad decided to take us up here to watch the storm and enjoy some food and drinks. Not one person was there... we had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a good amount of time. We probably spent a few hours here just catching up, watching the ocean and rain, and enjoying some good food and drinks! The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful. The views are beautiful. Such a great experience! We also met a friend, who I hear is a local! His name is either Jerry or Gary but he was a cool bird. Thank you, Gladestones!

Alicia J.

Yelp
The restaurant is on the beach so the ambiance is beautiful as far as the view is concerned. Service was great. The food was very tasty. The Mac and cheese needed more seasoning and sauce. The fish and chips were reported as being very good by those that ate it. The clam chowder was delicious. The shrimp scampi was flavored and well seasoned. The dinner r special of steak and tomatoes was excellent! The drinks: G&T was wonderful and so was the vesper. One more thing...that sourdough bread hit the spot!!

Phillip Z.

Yelp
I love Gladstones and so happy this place is still around. There was a report that the business was going to be sold and turned into a fancy, high-end restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I love a fancy restaurant but there is something just so wonderful about having an option to grab dinner or lunch on the beach and showing up in my hiking gear. I started coming here regularly in 2019, and the place is truly special. Service can be very much hit or miss. I've had completely awful service where the server is nowhere to be found (like on my latest visit) to very attentive service. The tables are right on the beach and it's just so relaxing to hear the waves crash as you're waiting for your meal to arrive. I've ordered a lot of the dishes on the menu, but my absolute favorite is the lobster roll with French fries. It's just perfection. I also recently tried their Caesar salad with chicken, and that was tasty as well. As for the sides, I love their broccolini. During the weekdays, they offer a limited happy hour food and drink menu until 7 pm. It has Pina Colada and Margarita's on the menu for $7, but I love the wine list. I always get the Justin Cabernet from Paso Robles. I'm so happy this place exists. It's the spot that I often thought about when I moved away with so many relaxing, post-hike meals right along the Pacific.

Van V.

Yelp
This place is about sunny SoCal at its best. Great deck with the best views and sun. The food and drinks are decent tavern quality. She had clams in broth and I had the tuna tartare. We just needed a light bite after a great visit to the Getty Villa. Margaritas and then nice glass of wine. Servers: excellent. Our main one said this is her 15th year here. Wow. After we walked the beach and saw a good number of dolphins. So fabulous. Gladstone's remains an institution blessed by the sun and the ocean! I love it! Cheers!

Lele S.

Yelp
Came here early Saturday and it was not too crowded. We were able to get seated outside with a beautiful view of the water. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The parking cost $5-$6 and you can walk down the beach after you eat. There is a public restroom and a separate restroom for customers.

May K.

Yelp
This is such a legendary place. Visited there for the first time since over 30 years ago. I have not been there for a long time but the place is still amazing. First because of its location overlooking the beautiful beach. And the outside and inside seating along the beach. The foods are good too. We like their clam chowder very much.

Ashley M.

Yelp
An OLDY, BUT SUCH A GOODY!!!! I came here with my honey after hearing that this icon of seafood history in Malibu, had been given a 2-year reprove before the city had them close down or move (I hope they let them stay forever!). Admittedly, I've been here before, but wanted to share the love with my fiancée. It was a lovely sunny day in the mid 70s and a gentle breeze wafted over the patio upon our arrival. I was already smiling.....Getting to share my favorite memories is always the BEST! Upon arrival you are given a choice of sitting inside or outside on the spacious patio. We chose the latter, and our table was about 100 feet from ocean sparkles and lapping waves. We started with refreshing cocktails. Being that we are both rum afficianados, we elected to order the rum punch. It was perfection! -Just the right amount of "burn" and lots of Fruit forward flavor. We next ordered two small cups of their famous chowder, which perfectly complimented their hot steamed sourdough and butter. Entrees: We splurged and ordered the large sampler platter, including fried clams, fried calamari, Lacey fish filets, shrimp, and onion rings. It truly was enough food for 3! Plenty to take home for dinner tonight too! I ordered the brioche lobster roll...nice and buttery with just a hint of acidity. Final thoughts: Great views. Great food. Great service. Great memories.

Emily P.

Yelp
I absolutely love going to Gladstones and was so thrilled that their lease was extended. Came here with my mom for Mother's day and we had an oceanfront view. The service is always wonderful and attentive. The sourdough bread is essentially perfect. This time, I finally ordered the clam chowder and I was not disappointed as someone that has spent a lot of time in Boston. It was flavorful and creamy- will definitely order again! Always love the calamari and the ceviche, those are my standard purchases! I also want to give a shout out to the steamer pot with the new bread that they are serving with it! The bread was flavorful and paired nicely with the clams. Also, if you want to stick around after your meal, there is a beach right outside that you can stick your feet into the water. Basically a perfect Malibu beach restaurant! Love it.

Karen L.

Yelp
Came into Gladstones for first time with a friend. Came into the restaurant around 2 pm, was greeted by our server, Devyn, and he provided great customer service from fast service to recommending a great dish, the Linguini & Manila Clams. He was very attentive and made sure we were doing good. The ambiance was relaxed and chill. You really can't beat being next to the beach. I would come back to try other dishes and enjoy the beautiful views.

Susan C.

Yelp
We came here for yummy cocktails and a great meal! We arrived around 2:30 on a Friday. You pay for parking next to the restaurant - self park or valet park, your choice, the same price. I think it was $11. It's right on the beach. We ate outdoors, where there were lots of umbrellas to protect us from the sun. Inside is gorgeous too, with nautical theme and booths that look like boats. You can't go wrong either way, just make sure you get a great view of the ocean. The waves are soothing, calming and mesmerizing. Now onto the cocktails. We ordered some wine and some cocktails. Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect temperature, cocktails were well crafted. We had piña colada and strawberry dragon fruit Mojitos. The food was mostly good. The calamari was over cooked but we were so hungry we finished it anyway. Oysters on the half shell were excellent. The steamed clams were okay. Shrimp scampi was good - the prawns were huge. Lobster roll was more of a lobster salad than what I'm used to - was more lobster salad in the bun but was still good. Fish and chip was excellent. Both the fish and the fries were great. We'd love to come back here but read that they are closing soon. Thank you for the wonderful memories Gladstones!

Josie K.

Yelp
I love love this place! If you know me, you know that i come here at least once a month all the way from Arcadia. Love the location, love the food and love the service! I remember when they were going to close down at one point I prayed and prayed to stay open and I'm so glad it did. Jim is amazing... look forward to keep coming back again and again. Thank you for having me and my friends and family

Tombstone R.

Yelp
Great food. Fantastic ocean view since it sits on the beach. The patio is very nice to feel and hear the ocean. Direct beach access. Parking is ample.

Roch B.

Yelp
GLADSTONES - THE LAST REVIEW It's true. According to our waitress, Richard Riordan's Estate sold off the property following the death of RR. Their last day would be 9/11/2023. Based on that news, we decided to make the run one last time. SO glad we did! The food has reached new, better levels compared to where they let it slide in the past. Yeah, I'd been there too, back in 2019 and 2021 and '22...the food became meh and the service was lackluster...after so many storied years of raucous parties at the end of Sunset on PCH here at their bar, the loaded cocktails and perfect fresh fish - I'd heard the grumblings about the slide into oblivion - and yep, experienced that for my very own self. But on this glorious, sunny, perfect beach day, the fates aligned and we were treated to a meal beyond compare. We did splits on: SOURDOUGH BREAD BALLS CALAMARI CHIPS & GUACAMOLE All fresh, hot and flavorful. The IPAs were frosty cold. The Margaritas were extra special - RIP Jimmy Buffett... The ocean breezes on the patio were replenishing. The lines to get in were deep. The indoor seating was near capacity. Our timing was perfect. Other things ordered: CLAM CHOWDAH' - of course! AHI TUNA BURGER - FIVE stars! LOBSTER ROLL - WOW! Maybe it's true. Maybe a light bulb does burn just a tad brighter...right before it burns out. Listen, if you're a 'Stones fan, hit this place one last time - before that historic light goes out. It's G-licious.

David R.

Yelp
I have been coming to Gladstones for over 35 years. I noticed it's been slipping as of late. The views are awesome we were greeted fast and had our choice of seats we chose to sit on the patio that's where they lost it Our waiter just didn't want to be there drinks came 10 minutes never refilled till after lunch clam chowder in bread bowl was ok but not special lobster roll was ok but lacking in stuffing roll was what seemed to be a few dinner rolls and the grilled shrimp cocktail was marinated poorly i probably won't be back because they have lost there way

Genevieve H.

Yelp
So sad this place is closing! Bit of a long wait at 5pm on da Saturday but the outside is so pretty so we had a nice view. Service was a little slow and they were obviously busy, but our waiter was super funny and has been there for 25 years. I got the chicken sandwich and fries which was delicious and my friends got the burger with sweet potato fries which was also good, and they polished off the shrimp tacos and lobster risotto. The sourdough appetizer was so good and warm with the whipped butter but we had to mangle it a bit to cut it. Overall a great time! We had an indoor ocean view table during sunset which was just perfect.

Danielle S.

Yelp
Lunchtime and the only ones seated inside . Out waitress went ghost on us! Interesting enough she stated there was a huge party earlier in the day and she was cleaning up etc and got busy. She brings out 2 bowls of what they call clam chowder soup and there were ZERO clams! Huge disappointment especially at $15 a bowl! Food quality has definitely gone downhill in general.

Eric F.

Yelp
My friend and I came by for a quick bite and it wasn't too bad. Ceviche was a little meager and acidic though otherwise fine and the crispy calamari was solid. My mai tai was strong though not well balanced. On the upside, decent service and the expansive ocean view was legit.

Justin W.

Yelp
I mean let's just start off with the obvious. The view is horrible. Honestly pretty sure it's the view you pay for here. Food is decent but not amazing especially for the price. Also I miss the peanuts that they used to have up front. I will say the staff here is always friendly and it's fun to watch some of them surf on their 15 min break,

Nae K.

Yelp
Love this place.... always a nice vibe by the ocean. The food is great and service is too! The manager Alex is amazing and always very welcoming!! I highly recommend Gladstones!!!

Lawrence K.

Yelp
I was at work right down the street and everyone decided to come here for lunch. I ended up ordering the breakfast burrito with bacon and sauce and absolutely loved it. They have an amazing chipotle aioli that works well with it. Definitely could be slightly bigger for the price you pay but it's also in a pretty wealthy area, so I get it. The service was fast and great, and the view of the water was very relaxing as well. Some of my other coworkers got the seafood omelette and the burger and they thought it was really good. They also have a nice music playlist being played in the background, that adds some additional relaxation to your experience. I definitely need to go back and try more things but so far, it's a very enjoyable experience. The camera on my phone is broken, so I apologize for not being able to add any photos.

Ciara M.

Yelp
I liked the view of the ocean and the dolphins in the distance. The food was also good.

Armen A.

Yelp
Gladstones... one of those places that's so terrible, you wonder how it's still open. Literally just clam chowder and views. That's all. They don't even have the cool take out foils. Just left from a family dinner and reminded myself why I hate this place. Food was terrible all around. I don't know why I keep returning. Like 1x a year is sufficient. I really wish they would do something about it. It's so sad. Bland fish and chips, bland cheeseburger, bland Caesar salad. Drinks were good, service was good. That is all.

Brittany J.

Yelp
Always love coming to Gladstones. Great spot to come for lunch or dinner to watch the sunset. It is however not the most up to date. They have a new Happy Hour/Golden Hour now from 4-6pm, but only at the bar. The shrimp taco plate is always my favorite. You get very good portions though prices are expensive

Pat O.

Yelp
The linguine w clams was perfect and the cajon halibut was moist and delicious. Our favorite Bloody Mary's were still delicious. Service was attentive and, of course, sitting outside on the beach is a great day. Perfect!

Kelly C.

Yelp
Second visit. Enjoyed all the food, drink, and sunset! Service wasn't 5 stars like first visit, but no big complaints.

Dirk P.

Yelp
Overpriced crap. They are so lazy, they won't give you a box unless you pay the bill, you pay the bill at the table like in canada with a scanner and they waitress looking over your shoulder, then they will conveniently forget the box for your leftovers, and won't say "thank you, come again" if the tip isn't large enough.

Timmy S.

Yelp
Located on PCH this seemed like the perfect spot for two hungry friends after a visit to the nearby Getty Villa. I've passed this restaurant for years but have never stopped for a bite. I wasn't missing anything. Self parking, as of the date of this review, was $11. We sat inside at a window booth as it was a rainy day (they have an enormous patio which would be perfect when the sun is out). The view of the ocean was wonderful. It's all about the beach view here. Service was excellent but my meal was terrible. Don't come to a seafood restaurant if you don't like seafood (like me). Seems like an obvious observation but my friend was craving crab legs so I figured they must have a couple non-seafood options, which they do. I ordered Mary's roasted chicken, a half chicken which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The sides were quite good but the chicken was dry and tasteless. Honestly what you get at El Pollo Loco is far better and yet I was paying $35 for this plate. Although my rating does not take into account my friend's order, she said the Alaskan King Crab legs were fantastic. She paid $120 for a pound which seemed insane to me. But this is definitely a touristy sort of spot so sort of expected. A touristy spot for those who like seafood but for those who don't, it's a very hard pass.

Yelp
Used to be nice, now expect super long wait times and watching dirty dishes being taken out on carts through the dining area. Bummer

Yelp
Came here on March 3 2024 aka the prophesized tragedy by Twitter User @2dollarbeer for an anniversary date. The biggest tragedy was that everything in the world to me smelled like mucus and heartbreak and love so that I wasn't even hungry by the time I arrived. This was another bone chillingly whippingly windy Southern California winters day .... Enough sun for my nose to burn but wind chill so high I need my floor length wool trench coat so as to not freeze. And freeze I did not! The dining area with the view unfortunately had a bit of a draft so it was chilly at our seat despite being indoors. Service was not too frequent yet not too infrequent .. they got that balance Order split between two: - sourdough loaf. Best of it all -crispy calamari. Lowkey not crispy enough for my taste - ahi tuna sandwich. Wasn't my first pick to eat, but love is compromise. Only had a few bites it was decent - fish and chips. Perfect! - Diet Coke. Can't go wrong. Despise a restaurant who only serves Pepsi .. what kind of business model is that? This is my second time at Gladstone's, and while yummy and a beautiful experience, for this price point I would rather make the mob north to SB to a place like hendry's on the boathouse for a restaurant vibe that feels as luxurious as the food does. This is like my one and only critique of gladstones. Great for a weekend lunch, but maybe not my first choice for a celebratory location. As it so happens I did not take a single photo because I was preoccupied. My sincerest apologies "the Za got me thinking about tragedies that havent even happened yet .. March 3rd 2024.. damn...." -"$2, @2dollarbeer via Twitter 13 November 2022

Yelp
I've been to Gladstones before, but this is the first time today when I went to Gladstone with a friend and I had the lobster roll. It was delicious and I would recommend it to anyone.. we also shared a loaf of sourdough bread. What's not to like about hot warm sourdough bread with plenty of butter. And for dessert, we shared the big slice of chocolate cake. We each ate some and brought some home. The slice of cake was huge and could feed at least eight people was very good.. the weather was beautiful and sunny. Our waiter was amazing. I'm sorry I can't remember his name. I'm severely deaf but I would highly recommend anyone who loves seafood and loves to look at the ocean. Definitely go to Gladstone can't ask for anything better food great atmosphere win-win

Yelp
I haven't been to this location in longer than I'd like to admit! We were at the beach and wanted some fish close to Malibu so out of nostalgia we came here. When I checked in I saw a lot of bad reviews and started to worry that it wasn't going to be as good as I remembered it. We started with the fresh sourdough - it's so good! Totally worth the $2 (too bad it's not free anymore) My daughter got shrimp tacos which were very good. Not super special, but good. I got the seared ahi sandwich, and it was very good. Nice, blackened rub, pink in the middle. Super soft bun. Would order again 100%. Oh, and the sweet potato fries were incredible! like perfect. I had to fight to defend them. My wife got a grilled chicken sandwich which she enjoyed. Of course the view is incredible, which would have justified a much higher total bill than we got. All in all it was super reasonably priced, very good and in the best location. It is looking a little aged, and probably in need of some TLC. It adds to the beach charm - but keeps it from 5 star territory.

Yelp
We came here because we heard it was closing, but here is the update!!! Gladstones be open for around three more years!!!! Wolfgang Puck, the new owner has to get several permits passed, so until further notice, Gladstones will be open! We arrived at 5pm and were seated immediately by a booth overlooking the ocean! One comes to Gladstones for nostaligia or the view. The food is good, nothing fancy, but tasty. We stayed here for three hours! Kai, our server was very attentive with a smile! We met Alex, the manager too who was very friendly and explained the current situation. My friend ordered a Whiskey Smash which was really tasty amd arrived in a nice whiskey glass. All the food came out quickly! I had the crabcakes and baked potato. My friend had 6 oysters and a Lobster Roll. The roll has 2 ounces of Lobster. Another friend ordered the Spice Crusted Ahi. We all enjoyed our food. We shared the huge chocolate cake. The water came in plastic cups and so did my Arnold Palmer. This is why i am giving Gladstones 4 stars. Gladstones has been at Sunset and PCH for 50 years and so please come here and support this local landmark. $15 to self park. There is no valet.

Yelp
I remember dinning at Gladstone's as a young adult roughly 20 years ago. At that time it was a fancy spot and the food was good. I recently came here for brunch with some friends. I would say that it has dramatically changed. I assume it's under different ownership/ management. The food is mediocre. Although I will say, our waitress was very attentive and kind. The restaurant seems a bit run down and could use some renovations. I think most people who come to dine are tourists who want to eat by the ocean. I don't think I'd come back, as there are so many other great restaurants in the vicinity.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Great service. Thanks Ky! Great food. Ceviche was amazing. Clam chowder was very cream. The drinks that were recommended were very tasty. Great ambiance. Can't wait to go back

Yelp
Gladstones was great as it's right off/over the beach. No reservations were needed on a Friday evening. The hubby ordered the fish and chips and I got a wedge salad with steak. This steak was surprisingly so tasty and cooked to perfection. It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly complimented the blue cheese crumbled on the wedge salad.

Yelp
Love the view of the ocean. I always get the claim chowder and there seafood towers. Great service. Food is always on point. One of my favorite spots in Malibu.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my visit to Gladstones! I ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl which was delicious with the sourdough bread. It's a small amount of soup compared to the amount of bread you get, but the flavor was good and it was one of the more affordable options on the menu. My friend ordered the lobster roll which he enjoyed. Comes with fries or choice of side salad. I loved the outdoor patio especially since we were seated right near the edge so we had a great view of boats and surfers at the beach. They also have public gender neutral restrooms and a fire pit which I imagine is lovely for evening cocktails. Our server was kind and attentive. I enjoyed my meal here!!
