Yelp
Quick service, good portions, not too unhealthy, and reasonably priced. It's hard to find all four of those things in a midtown lunch spot, but Glaze manages to do it.
***LOCATION & INTERIOR***
Smack in the middle of midtown, this is a perfect spot for lunch (you can order takeout and delivery!) or grabbing dinner on the way home from work. There are seats inside and the space is relatively large (probably to keep the line flowing during busy times), but it's quite dim. Not the best spot to eat at, so take your food to-go.
***FOOD***
I got the tofu with brown rice, no dressing on my salad (I like to mix my greens in with the warm rice). I went during a really dead time so my order was prepared in about 5-10min.
I was expecting the food to be lukewarm, since most midtown lunch spots do a bad job of keeping their food hot and fresh. However, I carried my food all 20 blocks back to my apartment, let it sit on my counter for some time, and it was still hot when I dug in (~40min later).
My plate came with a good helping of brown rice, 3 large pieces of tofu that seemed like they were baked, greens, and a little tub of the normal teriyaki sauce. Everything was freshly cooked--the rice fluffy, tofu firm, greens clean and crisp. I really like the teriyaki sauce, which is a bit on the salty side but has the proper sweetness to it too. It wasn't too strong, so my food still tasted clean doused in the sauce. I was really full after finishing all the food--it's more tofu than you think! All for less than $9 (even less because I used my $5 credit from LevelUp).
My only complaint is the tofu was pretty salty. They definitely need to ease up on their use of salt. But after I mixed up my tofu with the rice, greens, and teriyaki sauce, and couldn't taste the saltiness much anymore.
***NOTES/RECOMMENDATION***
A solid midtown lunch spot. If you like Asian rice bowls (who doesn't), there's no place in the area that can beat Glaze in terms of portions, price, flavor, etc.
