Glitch Bar is an arcade bar with a throw back to the 80's vibe located in the Hive in the MASS District/ Flagler Village in Ft. Lauderdale. There are a lot of cool businesses in the Hive like Clean Your Dirty Face, Chick'n Cone, Heritage, and Blueprint Cookie. There is limited free parking in the Hive and a metered lot across the street.
Glitch Bar first opened in 2017 in Himmarshee Village by co-owners Dwight Slamp and Chris Guevaras. After proving to be wildly popular it closed four months later to eventually reopen here in Flagler Village. Covid shut it down again for awhile but when it reopened they began serving food too.
I visited two times in one day with a friend and the experiences were very different. The first time we came was in the afternoon after a facial at Clean Your Dirty Face. If you buy a drink at the bar you get a wrist band that allows you to play all the games you want. If you don't purchase a drink the wristband is $7. At my friends suggestion I ordered the signature cherry bomb that comes served with a bomb popsicle in it, so fun! It was pretty empty when we were there and we had free run of all the vintage arcade games of my youth. I had a blast playing Donkey King and Pac Man but they also have pin ball machines, skee ball, Contra, Area 51, Deathball, Jubeat, Robo Tron, Killer Queen, and Switch n Shoot to name just a few. Children are allowed during the day.
At night Glitch turns into a crowded club, adults only. They play music and people dance while other people are packed in like sardines to play the games. There was a line to get in but our wristbands from earlier allowed us to skip it. Having experienced both sides of Glitch I prefer the calm afternoon. The bar has a lot of cool collectibles throughout which you can appreciate better in the day too. Orlando has a lot of this type of retro bar but I didn't realize there was one in my own backyard. Thanks Leah for introducing me to Glitch.
