The 15 Best Restaurants in Lawrence, Home of the University of Kansas | Eater

"Nothing is safe from green chile at Global Cafe. Chef Rafael Gonzalez, who was born in Spain and raised in Venezuela, and his wife, Kate, travel to New Mexico yearly to source up to 1,500 pounds of Hatch green chiles for the menu at their daytime cafe. The green chile margarita is delightfully spicy-sweet, and the borrachos, a New Mexican dish of corn tortillas filled with eggs and house-made chorizo, is smothered in green or red chile. Also popular are the arepas, a Venezuelan corn patty stuffed with a variety of fillings, and anything that involves Gonzalez’s 13-hour roast pork." - Erin Socha

Note: I want to give the service a 3.5-3.8. My first time eating brunch at this local joint. My friend & I both enjoyed our food. Service wasn't bad. Our server was very nice. But we had to flag her down to ask for coffee refills and to clear our plates. Otherwise I probably would've given 4 stars. They have a nice menu of Latin-based dishes. I got the breakfast quesadilla and a side of bacon. Both were really good. My friend got an omelet- can't remember the name of it. It looked delicious.

Wow! Another GREAT breakfast option downtown. If you like coffee drink options that don’t disappoint and outstanding breakfast options, this is one of three “go to” places my wife and I enjoy in downtown Lawrence.

Google
The food was okay, nothing special at all. I got the green Chile hamburger with chips. Barely any green Chile on it. One of our party of five got the new Mexico enchiladas and said that they were really good. The rest of our party was not amazed by anything.

Google
My water came not filled all the way with lipstick stains on it. The waitress did not speak a single word to us. The chairs are high and the table is low so it’s very uncomfortable to sit and eat. The food was meh nothing special; my chicken smelled and tasted like it was reheated. Overall I rather eat at home.

Forgot to take photos of our food because we ate it so quickly. We ordered an array of items, everything was excellent. From the adult beverages to the cup of soup, arepa, breakfast potatoes/ eggs/ green chile + red chile.. fantastic. As a gluten free (not celiac) vegetarian, married to a vegetarian, we were shocked by how many options we had on the menu. We were surprised to have no wait to sit, good service, and most shocking of all - how affordable it was. We will be back any time we visit Lawrence.

The food is always great. Try anything with the green chili.

We walked in today to be greeted and the lady was very rude she sprayed the cleaner on the counter right in front of us then she had to get the ok to wait on us from some man that would not even say hello. I cant even begin to tell you how rude they was . For being our first time. I will never be returning. The bar was open they both became very rude ! The coffee was horrible for two coffees it was 14.00 we paid didn't even drink it and left ! And no tip at all and to be honest I am a big tipper . But not to rude people and horrible coffee. Get a attitude adjustment or you will be out of business! I will make sure others know how horrible it was don't waste your time or money!

Hands down the worst food in Lawrence run by a manager with a bad attitude to match. The meals I tried were grossly under seasoned and made with low quality ingredients nearing inedible. I was unhappy with my initial meal (the New Mexican Enchiladas which had virtually no cheese, were colder than room temperature, and made with frozen fajita chicken) and had barely touched it so my waitress asked if she could get me something different. I went with the Global Quesadilla which was drowned in a pool of what they claim is “green chile sauce” and I picked around what I could because I was hungry (see the photo of slop attached for reference). When I went to pay, the manager tried to charge me for the meal I sent back in addition to the replacement meal and argued with me about why I felt it was inappropriate to expect a customer to pay for a dish they sent back. She passive aggressively said “I guess I’ll just ring it up as a donation meal” as if I was robbing the homeless for refusing to pay for a meal I didn’t eat. Seriously skip this place if you expect positive customer service and a half decent meal.

Yelp
Fantastic service and food. I ordered the Global Breakfast Quesadilla and added sausage then opted for the green chili over the top of it. The quesadilla filled the plate leaving a small area for the breakfast potatoes. The quesadilla was packed full of scrambled eggs, black beans, avocado, cheese, and the sausage I added. When I first looked at the portion size my thought was....I can't eat all of this! I did eat all of it and loved the mix of flavors and the spicy green chili. The breakfast potatoes were cubes and cooked just right. Our waitress kept our coffee full and checked on us throughout the meal to make sure everything was ok. This place was recommended by a local chiropractor and it's definitely on my list of places to return to! (Sorry I forgot the picture before I dived into the food)

Yelp
Everything we had was very bland. I found myself adding salt and cholula to every dish. This place is ok for a quick bite, but with so many better restaurants around, I'll go elsewhere next time. The coconut soup was really good, though! Our waitress was also great. We sat outside, so no comments on the ambience indoors.

Yelp
First things first the food is soooooooooooooooo good I felt like a Queen eating gourmet food!!!! Also the staff are really nice and talkative, and it doesn't take too long to get your food The vibe is really fun and comforting and overall just makes you feel good. 5 stars I love this place!!!!

Steve S.

Yelp
Extremely rude waitress/hostess. Walked away from me as she was telling me where I could sit. I sat at bar. Was only one there and manager/owner did not acknowledge me. Unacceptable to go to any establishment as a paying customer and have that kind of treatment. No thank you when I paid nothing. Seemed eager to get me out. She made it obvious with open regular seats she only offered me seating at bar location. Food was very average. Terrible
google avatar

Steffanie R.

Yelp
Stopped in and asked a waitress for a to go menu. She acted like she didn't want to stop walking then told me it was on the door. I used the restroom the man who directed me was very nice. I went outside to look at menu she came out to tell a couple guys walking past they can come In now , not even noticing me standing there I guess. I told her i didn't see a coffee menu she said she could get me one still not seeming to look my direction . at that point I just told her never mind and went next door to the coffee shop where they can actually see me. Btw the one next door -5 stars.

Yelp
One of, if not the worst breakfast places in Lawerence. The food is bland, the servers are joyless and the ambience is that of a funeral home. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, that's how bad it truly is. I can't wait for the day when the doors finally close and hopefully a real restaurant pops up at this location. AVOID

Katie D.

Yelp
Try the specialty coffee!!!! It was so good. I also got a skillet with sausage, which was good and came out pretty fast. Super popular place so try to get there early!
google avatar

Krista G.

Yelp
We were looking for a brunch place with indoor seating and were happy we found this place. You wait outside and someone will come help you. She put our name on the list and we were able to go wait in the car until a table was ready. (They also have outdoor seating also but it was a bit chilly!) Food was great and I love that they have both traditional breakfast foods (eggs, pancakes, omelets, scrambles) but also some fun and interesting options. I got the barrachos and was not disappointed. Since I couldn't leave without trying their speciality- green chili sauce- I added some on the side and ate it with my breakfast. It was a wonderful and spicy compliment to my food. The orange juice is fresh-squeezed and they have a selection of coffee drinks beyond your standard drip coffee (although they have that too). Portions were more than generous. Check this place out!

Yelp
Came over here on a Sunday to grab a quick brunch. Obviously, under the current conditions, service doesn't matter. Everywhere has waits and are dealing with staff so I'll get to the point. I ordered the burachos. It was basically black beans, rice, and a cheesy egg scramble with chorizo and caramelized onions. My meal was okay at best. The eggs had flavor thanks to the onion and chorizo. The two sauce options each were unique and added additional flavor. The black beans and rice lacked flavor significantly and the rice was overcooked. My eggs were as well. Overall, it's a decent spot to grab a meal while on mass street. Nice family owned spotted with real hospitality. Would I go back, most likely no considering the location and the other options on Mass Street. I think 3 is a solid rating for the restaurant and reflects what other think as well
google avatar

Yelp
Diverse food in a small town. Came in on a slow Sunday and received really good service! The food came out fresh and hot! The flavor is very fresh! Will definitely come back! The Irish latte was the perfect buzz on a relaxing day

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but the service was awful. On a Saturday, the restaurant was fully staffed, yet very few customers. This should have been telling as the other breakfast places on Mass had wait times of 30 Minutes or more to get a table. We got seated and had to flag someone down to take our drink order. I got my mimosa and drank the whole thing but no one came to take our food order. I found our server hanging out and chatting with co workers and told her I would like to order. She took our order, but didn't refill our now empty waters or ask if I wanted another drink. We then waited another 30 minutes for our food and at about 25 minutes, I inquired about our order. The server looked at me like "uh oh, I forgot about you." And when she returned from Checking with the kitchen, she said, "Oh, your food is almost ready." 5 minutes later, we got our food. Mark's scramble was truly underwhelming. Tofu was just plain and hadn't been properly seasoned or seared. I had the Cuban sandwich. It was tasty. Another server, maybe a manager, apologized to us and gave us a discount. Our original server never spoke to us again and continued to wander around, along with the rest of the staff. The staff seemed way more interested in talking to each other than actually working, including the kitchen staff. I get the whole hippie/Lawrence/laid back vibe...but this was beyond laid back. It was inconsiderate and very unprofessional.

Yelp
I love Global Cafe. I come here for brunch any time I'm in Lawrence. I always get Mark's Scramble since it's vegan. I definitely recommend getting the side of avocado for your toast and adding some Cholula on there was well. The avocado comes pre mashed. The veggies for the scramble are always nice and fresh tasting. The one complaint I have is that they are FREQUENTLY out of decaf espresso so I have to skip getting a coffee beverage. I'm disappointed every time this happens. They do offer bovine milk alternatives. They have renovated pretty recently and there is now more seating. It can get very busy in the weekends, as expected. That's why I love going in during the week.

Yelp
Super awesome spot, I recommend coming early to experience no wait. The staff is kick ass and are genuinely good people :) Food is absolutely delicious. Will be back soon!!

Yelp
I can't say I was impressed. I ordered the breakfast burrito on a weekend morning, and while there wasn't a ton of ingredients in there - cheese, eggs, potatoes, sour cream on top - this had ZERO flavor. Literally no flavor or spices in the eggs or potatoes at all, which was surprising to me. It was accompanied by two sauces, the green chile and a tomato-based smoky sauce (the name eludes me atm), and I didn't care for either or those. Luckily, there was hot sauce and a side of black beans that my server gave me that salavged the meal for me. The actual cafe is cute on the inside, and they do offer a variety of specialty coffee drinks that seemed appetizing and sweet for $5 (I think they started at 16oz, but don't quote me on that). Since the price point was reasonable and the service was good, I'd go back, but I would stay away from that burrito and request hot sauce for anything that I ordered, just in case.

Yelp
Updated review - I still love Global for their authentic Southwestern recipes, Venezuelan cuisine, specially picked New Mexican chile peppers, and the fact that Raphael and Kate are overseeing the operations daily. This is real food from real hard-working fun folk. New specials include Friday afternoon happy hour which featured Louisiana brisket nachos, smoked chicken wings, and BBQ Pork or brisket sliders this week. Sunday brunch features green Chile biscuits and gravy which nobody else has or could duplicate. Come here and get something Artisan-ally unique!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
This places seems like it get really busy during the morning brunch rush luckily I had just missed that. I would probably still wait in line as the food, artisan coffee, and atmosphere was amazing. With everything being fresh and tasty. I got to even try a new food arepas while the other dishes called New Mexican specialities made me think of breakfast places down in New Mexico. Will defiantly have to come back and try more of there Arepas as it was delicious. I got one of there artisan coffees also and I might just have to come by for that someday it was amazing!!

Yelp
First, I have to say that I love the renovations at Global Cafe. The restaurant has lots of natural light and feels open and airy. Make sure to avoid peak times because you might find yourself waiting for a table - there's limited seating. I always want to be "Wow'd" by my food, especially when I am craving green chile. My heart stirred when I first learned that Global Cafe carries green chile from Hatch, New Mexico (which is the the only place to get green chile in my opinion). I am always excited to try the food, but it never quite hits the spot. The chile is hot, not flavorful and hot. I would recommend Global Cafe, but I can't say that it's my favorite place in Lawrence. There is something missing and I can't put my finger on it.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
I have to agree with my fellow Elite and friend Scott T in his less than stellar impression of Global Cafe. We also sat for nearly 10 minutes while the two servers walked to and fro, ignoring us to clean tables rather than greet us and give us menus. Once the server arrived, turns out she is one of the owners, we got a lukewarm greeting, menus, and an inquiry about what we wanted to drink. I said: "I'll have a coffee please", but she said, "let me get you a drink menu". I just ordered a coffee! Once the drink menu arrived, the $2.50 price tag for a cup of drip coffee seemed excessive, so I opted for ice water. My wife ordered a short stack of pancakes, two large pancakes for $3.75 and an extra $1.50 for a tiny pitcher of "real maple syrup". I guess you get Aunt Jemima syrup and a high fructose corn syrup buzz if you opt out of the "real" thing. Anyway, the pancakes were pancakes, nothing special. I had the Carnivore Omelet ($8.75) and a half order of biscuits and gravy, which were not on the menu, but advertised on a sign out front (with no price). The carnivore omelet came with ham, bacon, sausage, caramelized onions and sharp cheddar cheese, but very little of each and what was there was cooked into the omelet rather than folded on the inside. It came with "two sides" (toast, breakfast potatoes, cottage cheese, or sliced tomato), but the only enticing side was the potatoes, so I asked for a double order. I would hate to see a single side order of potatoes because the "double" side was extremely sparse and void of much taste. The biscuit and gravy came with green chili, an odd topping for biscuits and gravy (apparently a "New Mexico specialty"), so I asked for it on the side. The biscuit was medium in size, the gravy thick, but rather tasteless (no sausage or bacon in sight), and the green chili thin (not thick as true green chili should be) and watery, but very spicy. When the check arrived, it was not itemized, coming to a total of $19.08, so I assume that the single biscuit topped with mediocre country gravy and watery green chili ran around $4 ($19 - $3.75 - $1.50 - $8.75 - tax = about $4). At $23, including tip, I was not impressed considering that my wife had two pancakes, I had a mediocre breakfast, and neither of us ordered a drink other than ice water. I have had much better breakfasts in town, so I doubt we will be returning here anytime soon. The interior is nothing special, the ceiling covered in flags of the world (hence the name I guess), and the service not very attentive, but semi-friendly. Therefore, ... CombatCritic Gives Global Cafe 4 Bombs Out Of 10 ... More Bombs Are Better!

Yelp
Take out breakfast. We've had Global a couple of times over the last few months. Website order is easy. Food is ready relatively quickly and it's hot when we get home. The green chile biscuits and gravy are like nothing you've ever had. We also like the Borrachs. On our last order, we decided to risk omelettes to go, and wow, was that totally worth it. We did the California Club and the Mediterranean. They were cooked perfectly, no scorching. The omelettes were full; all of the bites had something. Delicious!
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Rude hostess! My husband, my son and I went to Sunday breakfast and we're treated so rudely we walked out. No one greeted us so we stood and waited for an empty table. We were standing by the bar when the hostess says " Could you not stand here, we have customers wanting to eat here." So we went back to the door and we're a little angry but decided to stay. A lady said they were leaving and we could have her table. They left and someone began cleaning the table but left before finishing. We sat down and were looking at the menu when the little evil hostess comes over and says, "Could you not sit here until we clean the table." We left. She was horrible and needs too be taught how to treat people. Off to the Levee we went and we're treated like royalty.
google avatar

Kirk A.

Yelp
Service was attentive, if not quite "into" us...a little something...hmm. Regardless, the food was tasty...great veg tofu scramble that was tasty, a customized arepa with black beans, red peppers and grilled chile, and a scramble special...well received by all. Opportunity for improvement - they keep their coffee in carafes, kept by the servers, so the coffee poured is only luke warm. No problem with the wait, timing, or service as posted by others. If it weren't for the coffee, and the less than warm service (perfunctory) it would be a four.
google avatar

Roger K.

Yelp
A great breakfast with my long awaited green chili experience! Definitely recommended!
google avatar

Claire M.

Yelp
Pretty good place for brunch! They have a wide variety of dishes that have a Spanish flare, along with classics. The service was great, my scramble was a little runny but I'll have to check them out again!

Alex C.

Yelp
Always a great meal here. Great community advocates and participants. A pillar of Lawrencian community.
google avatar

Monty A.

Yelp
Very nice after the remodel. Clean and bright interior. And if course, great food. Today I had the best bloody Mary I've had in a looong time. Love the atmosphere. Perfect for single/couple dining, but plenty of room for a group of 12 if you need.
google avatar

George T.

Yelp
First time customer. Food was excellent. Service was superb. Great experience overall.

Patricia B.

Yelp
The regular female server is very rude and crabby. You will know which one if you go there. But the owner is very nice and the food is great. If not for her it would be 5 stars.
google avatar

Owen F.

Yelp
This has been a favorite of mine for years. I lived in Lawrence and ate here frequently, and now when traveling through, I always stop. I'm looking forward to my lunch today! The breakfasts are phenomenal and all of the food is healthy, fresh and well priced. A definite five stars!
google avatar

Victoria T.

Yelp
The food was excellent and our server was amazing! We had a large table and we were served coffee outside with a smile. Once inside everything went quickly and was well managed.

Bryce C.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible food. Latte and mimosas were delicious. Atmosphere and staff were awesome too. Best burger I have had hands down. Will be back next time we're in Lawrence!
google avatar

Skyler W.

Yelp
Their lattes and coffee is very good. We waited over an hour for our food, and there were only two of us there. Not to mention the lattes we ordered also took thirty minutes or so. The server was polite and kind. She was extremely busy. The kitchen took way too long to make our food. I gave this review three stars because the food was really good, and the server was doing her best, however it shouldn't have taken 30 minutes for coffee and almost an hour for food on a Monday morning.
google avatar

Joi B.

Yelp
I've only gone once and I feel I need to go back at least two more times to give a fair review. I had one of the arepas, think it was called the Mexican, although the cheese that normally comes in it is feta...ummmm, how is that "Mexican?" No matter, I was able to substitute cheddar instead. It also has avocado mashed in, which was nice, however, without hot sauce it was kind of hard to swallow with the cornmeal cakes surrounding it. Anyway, it was a really inexpensive light lunch, however I wouldn't go here if you're in a hurry. You order at the counter and then they bring it over to you. This took at least 20 minutes. If I wanted a quick to go lunch, I'd head over to Jimmy John's instead. Service was really sweet, so I didn't mind too much.
google avatar

Azile Y.

Yelp
Had the Borrachos for breakfast- they were a bit runny but tasted alright. Not as much flavor as I had expected. Great service though. Loved the wall art.
google avatar

Dakota J.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite breakfast place in Lawrence there food is amazing and delicious i suggest getting the green chili biscuits and gravy if you can they get sold out of those there so good
google avatar

Chic J.

Yelp
Went to the restaurant and the server was rude and had a negative attitude. She made some off the wall statements that were not necessary when we inquired about their daily specials. We decided not to eat there because she didn't do a good job representing the establishment. My husband and I left directly and found ourselves at another breakfast/brunch spot which was 1000 times more positive and had an amazing staff with great breakfast options. Skip Global Cafe and head to Ladybird Diner it's only a short walk up Massachusetts
google avatar

tina s.

Yelp
We stopped in Sunday for late breakfast early lunch. We both choose pressed sandwiches. My husband the Cuban, I opted for the fried egg with a side of bacon. The sandwiches were ok. However we should have stuck to breakfast items. We've enjoyed breakfast here in the past. When I think of a pressed sandwich I think of toasty, thin, crunchy. The sandwiches were not. A little disappointed. The Cuban was tasty, full of ham and pork & real yellow mustard. I should've held off the lettuce on the fried egg, was sort of out of place. The service was pleasant and the green chili sauce I dipped my sandwich in spicy and delicious. I could eat the green chili sauce on anything. We'll be back, but will stick to breakfast next time.
google avatar

Ilene H.

Yelp
Venezuelan owned!!! If you're looking for a quick bite; soup, salad, sandwich, arepas, then you've found the spot. Small little hole in the wall spot. Service was great and the food was yummy. I had the BLCT and I highly recommend the green chile posole which is REALLY spicy!

Yelp
Saturday morning breakfast combined with some academic research and writing...the weekly habit. So I finally got around to hitting the Global this weekend. I wandered in, was invited to seek a seat and settled into a booth. Only about half a dozen folks in here at 8am on a summer Saturday morning. Given this I had fresh squeezed OJ on my table within a minute and my breakfast-the breakfast bowl, no meat, no extra veggies-on the table within five! Eggs, potatoes, cheese, green chili, yum! If only it had a little more flavor...yep it was slightly bland a situation I was not expecting. That being said, it was nothing I couldn't remedy, and in the end it was enjoyable and solid, a number of things looked tasty on the menu so I'll have to go back and hit it a few more times to see how it all plays out. Oh yeah, the wheat toast was enjoyable too!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
I love the Global Cafe, a mainstay breakfast, lunch and brunch spot on Mass Street. Great breakfast choices plus a Mexican-leaning lunch menu. The Southwest Cobb salad is fantastic. Good coffee and lots of alchey choices round out a great experience.

Joni C.

Yelp
Man oh man. Haven't had a bad option here yet! Half the fam eats vegetarian the other choose meat options. Awesome on both sides. Great and friendly service. Definitely a returning customer.

Yelp
I went to Global Cafe with my friend at 9am on Saturday, December 2nd. We were having breakfast before the Christmas parade began at 11am. Global Cafe was pretty busy. All of the tables were full so we sat at the bar. I ordered coffee and so did my friend. The menu is pretty big, with lots of choices. It is vegetarian friendly. The menu is also very well priced. Nothing was over priced in my opinion. I decided on the breakfast bowl, it consisted of a bed of breakfast potatoes, 2 eggs, cheese, homemade green chili sauce. My friend ordered the breakfast burrito (eggs, cheese, potatoes in a tortilla), added sausage $1.75, and had the red sauce on top. The restaurant was busy, but the service was incredibly slow. I didn't mind because I was chatting with my friend, but it took close to 45 minutes to get our food. When the food arrived, it looked delicious. The breakfast burrito was huge! My bowl was a good size, not too small, not too big. I took a bite of the potatoes first and Oh my! They were awful! I could barely choke them down. They had no salt at all on them. They were like a dry bone. I put salt on them, but the thing about potatoes is you can't make up for the initial under-seasoning, they either only taste of salt or they still taste like a dry, powdery bone. The bowl was supposed to include cheese, but I did not find any evidence of cheese anywhere in the bowl. The eggs were cooked well, sunny side up. The green chili sauce was just ok. A little spicy, but also lacking on flavor. My friend said her burrito was good. She also said the potatoes in her burrito were really dry and lacking seasoning. Service- 2/5 I had to flag down the waiter anytime I needed anything, he did not check on me on his own Food- 2/5 Has good and bad qualities about it Would I return again? No, I would rather spend my money somewhere that appreciates flavorful, well-seasoned food.

Finn F.

Yelp
We went their earlier this week and it had bad service, it took 20 min to order. Then when we got our food it wasn't the best; It made my stomach hurt and i threw up and i don't usually have a sensitive stomach.

Jack K.

Yelp
First impression, pass on this place and go somewhere else. First the service takes forever when the restaurant was maybe half full, then the waitress takes forever to come back. When they finally do come to get your order they get half of it wrong. When most of your food does arrive after the long wait the food is terrible. The pancakes taste like cornbread, they don't give you enough syrup, the toast dosnt cone with butter and the eggs are plain as can be and they don't offer salt and pepper. NOT to mention the fact that the granola with Greek yogurt was EXPIRED the yogurt was warm and chunky and bitter. The staff claimed it was not expired but it definitely was and they gave us attitude when we even claimed it could be rotten. This restaurant is over priced for the poor food and poor service. Not one thing was done right here. NO TIP!

Yelp
sad sad sad Cuban Sandwich. Only reason I came, and I'll probably not go back. Way too expensive as well for a Cuban.
google avatar

Douglas B.

Yelp
I had the breakfast burrito, it was excellent, really enjoyed the green chili sauce. My wife had one of the breakfast platters which was excellent as well. Servings are plentiful, come hungry.

Yelp
My wife and I eat at the Global Cafe every weekend. Being plant based in our eating, the menu is a little thin on choices, but we are used to that. After getting the Marks scramble a couple of times we decided to ask if they could wrap the whole kit and kaboodel up in a burrito with breakfast potatoes and put green chili sauce over the top. They were very accommodating and the Marks burrito was born. When we come in now we don't even have to order, the wait staff knows what we want already and gets it ordered for us before they even bring us our coffee. Great food and great staff we love the place!

Myranda F.

Yelp
The food was absolutely phenomenal and the serve was just as amazing. When we went they were busy enough to be on a short wait and seemed to be short staffed. April, our waitress, made it look like a breeze. So, so impressed and will absolutely be back.
google avatar

Tera F.

Yelp
Good food, terrible service. Our waitress clearly forgot to submit our order, or it got lost. Four tables of people came in and were served before we were. The worst part was that instead of owning the mistake and apologizing, the waitress told us that 'beef and chicken take a long time to cook and we don't want you to get sick from salmonella.' The other people who came in later and were served before us received beef and chicken, so obviously complete bullshit. She never apologized and insisted several time later that she was looking out for our health and that's why it took so long. I was going to talk with a manager, but since getting our food took 40 min, I didn't have extra time to hang around during my lunch break. No comps for our order or anything. I will not come back.
