Gnocchi on 9th - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"With the weather looking like it’s finally taking a turn towards autumn, it’s time for Central Park walks. Gnocchi on 9th knows this, because they’ve added a third location of their $10 to-go gnocchi on the Upper West Side, on 71st and Columbus. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Urban Hawker’s Hainan Jones to Open in Brooklyn at the Dekalb Market | Eater NY

"I observed Gnocchi on 9th, which went viral for its $10 takeout pasta and expanded from an East Village outpost to the Lower East Side, is opening a third location at 228 Columbus Avenue near West 70th Street on the Upper West Side." - Emma Orlow

Google
A tiny restaurant that packs a flavorful punch! My wife ordered the Vodka sauce, and I had the Al Pomodoro. We took our gnocchi to Central park to enjoy our lunch with a view. The gnocchi was flavorful and filling, and we absolutely would recommend for taking lunch to go as there isn't room to eat at the restaurant. Underrated!

Google
Gnocchi, much of which has been premade and is reheated, served for around $10 in a takeout container and a variety of sauces. A very fast, low-cost, and convenient food option. I really enjoyed the Alla Vodka, and the Al Pesto was decent.

Google
I’m confused why it has such great reviews I made a mistake of buying these and only after paying for them I realize that these are just the three$ store bought gnocchi , that they boil in front of you. Nothing special at all, but you do get a lot of food for the money.

Food: 4 | Service: 4 | Atmosphere: 2 Seating type:there 2 chairs outside but that’s it. It’s a small establishment so there isn’t really any room to sit. Vegetarian options: it’s al all vegetarian menu Parking space: paid street parking only Kid-friendliness: not so much Wheelchair accessibility: this place may be too small to accommodate a wheelchair. All in all the food here shines. For $10 you can get about a pint of Gnocchi. Hits the spot. It was $4 for a regular size bottle of water. Menu it fair and affordable. Some great options, if you’re in the area stop by and grab a bite

Google
Great little hole in the wall pasta shop for quick easy to-go meal. Only downside is limited seating but we usually just get it to-go for a quick bite or if we don’t want to make our own pasta we just pop by to pick up some to add to our dinner. This time we picked up Al Pomodoro and the Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe. Highly recommend!

Google
Bland flavor… pesto was lacking seasoning. I also tried the Al la vodka and that was also bland.

Google
Delicious food! The kind of place you pick it up and eat it while you walk.

Yelp
A cute gnocchi store tucked away in UWS - had to stop by and check out the gnocchi for a quick and curious bite! I got the pesto gnocchi - overall decent as the gnocchi itself was cooked well, but imo the pesto tasted a bit acidic for me and texture-wise watered down. I did notice a lot of people ordered the spicy vodka so would like to try more flavors next time! I'd like to mention service was very good as it was operated by a single person but was still very efficient, plus she makes them fresh and piping hot! Will say walking down UWS with a box of gnocchi is def a vibe.

Yelp
I've seen those cute little takeout boxes of Gnocchi on 9th on social media and wanted to try it one day, eventually. Not like running over to the small narrow store to try it, but if I somehow find myself in front of the shop then I'd just walk in. The store truly is small due to rent costs and how it's simply a takeout/ghost kitchen operation where you order/pay/leave. We ordered the Gnocchi Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe, Gnocchi al Pomodoro, and Tiramisu. I don't think people are stopping by because the food is exceptionally amazing, however if you don't want to boil gnocchi or go outside to buy ingredients for a meal, this is the perfect set it and forget it establishment where you let someone else do all the work. I don't think I'd come back because the sauces aren't unique and after finishing the meal, I felt like I could've done it better a better job at a more reasonable cost without silly upcharges.

Yelp
Amazing gnocchi and flavors. We added burrata, olive oil, and pepper on top for $3 more, way worth it. My pesto was salty and garlicky i was in heaven. It was quick in and out stop for bomb food, we payed $30 for 2.

Yelp
Wanted to try this for awhile due to the hype. Having tried a bunch of other pasta places, I feel like the price here is pretty reasonable for $10-$14 for each dish of gnocchi. The box is pretty small but they packed it to the max and gnocchi is pretty thick like a potato dumpling and very filing. Tried the Alla vodka which was meh flavor but the black truffle definitely was quite good. I asked for extra cheese on top of what she gave us so she gave me two tiny containers of cheese which was quite thoughtful too. Just keep in mind it's definitely a very hole the wall type place that's just grab and go so no dining area besides two chairs outdoors with no table. I don't think I'd make this a destination spot but if you're in the area or a fan of pasta it's worth a try!

Yelp
I'm a big pasta fan, and honestly despite the hate I like Gnocchi on 9th! It's not going to be the best gnocchi you've ever had, but it's a good option for takeout in this area. I tried the black truffle cacio e Pepe ($14) with burrata (+$3), which is much better than restaurant prices and honestly tasted pretty good. Yes, you could make the same thing at home for a lot cheaper, but if you're out and about and craving fast food that's not a bowl or pizza this is a great option! There was also no line when I went and service was friendly and speedy. No seating though, takeout only. Gluten-free option is available.

Yelp
An elemental menu featuring $10 gnocchi with a recommended $3 burrata, finished with black pepper and parm. It's best for takeout. They dole it out from induction plates into "Chinese takeout" paper boxes with forks stuck into it. That being said, my family and I weren't impressed. The texture is good, but we found the vodka sauce overly tart and bordering on soupy, the burrata to be strangely thick-skinned. When eating alongside other pasta, our single serving of gnocchi was left unfinished...

Yelp
Such a yummy spot for a comforting pasta dish! I tried the black truffle cacio e pepe gnocchi with burratta which was delicious! The gnocchi is soft and pillowy with a slight chew (it's not mushy or overly soft). I love the sauce- the truffle flavor came through and paired well with the burrata. Perhaps slightly overhyped, but certainly a convenient spot for a grab and go pasta dish! Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was only one person in line. Service was fast, and I will definitely be returning to try their other sauces! Overall, I would highly recommend Gnocchi on 9th!

Yelp
Solid quick lunch takeout! The menu is simple and only has a few gnocchi items. We tried the vodka with burrata and the black truffle burrata and the black truffle definitely wins. The flavor was so much better but either way both pastas were solid and if you're looking for a quick inexpensive takeout meal, you should definitely try it out! We also got the tiramisu and it was not good. The flavor was good but the bottom layers were completely soggy and soaked so the texture was off. Wouldn't recommend. Also don't come here expecting amazing pasta haha but I would definitely come back considering the value/taste!

Yelp
Great concept. So cute. Tiny little place with 2 folding chairs out front. Everything is made fresh! We had the vodka sauce with burrata as well as the pesto. It was very good.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this for a while and it wasn't too bad. I got the Vodka gnocchi with burrata. Gnocchi isn't my most favorite thing but this was a great value. It was a ton of good quality food. The service was super quick. I just walked in asked what I wanted and they got it to me within a couple minutes. If you're in a rush and need something filling this is a good spot. This is a little hole in the wall place so don't expect to sit down as there is no room for that. But it's good for some food to go or to take to the park.

Yelp
Extremely underwhelming, tastes like Trader Joe's freezer meals at best. Not super expensive and a quick meal, but wouldn't go again.

Yelp
A phenomenal spot to stop for a quick meal! It's just a short walk from Central Park! Only had to wait in line for a few minutes and the food was prepared so quickly! It's is definitely more of a quick to go spot, other than two chairs out front there is no seating. I thought the prices were really good, especially for manhattan, and the portions are very filling. I got the Black Truffle Cacio e Pepe with Burrata - definitely pay extra to add the burata it's sooooo worth it! Also great for my fellow vegetarians! I understand why this spot is popping up all over social media! Totally worth a try!

Yelp
Have you ever wanted to eat gnocchi out of a takeout box? Me neither. But it makes pasta on the go work. I got the Alla Vodka since the cashier said it was the popular order. It was tasty, seasoned well, gnocchi was perfectly cooked. It's a small shop, so don't expect seating. There are two chairs outside the shop, but if you need to sit somewhere nearby and don't mind walking, eat it at Lincoln center or central park.

Yelp
YUM! The gnocchi here is great. Definitely street food vibes but it is an actual storefront. It's tiny, just enough room for like 5 people to squish in there and order. Friendly and fast service. Menu is simple and you see them preparing the gnocchi. We each had the gnocchi alla vodka with burrata. Topped with oil, chili flakes, and parmesan. Portion size was perfect. No seating, everything is take out.

Yelp
Gnocchi on 9th in New York. NY. & NEW LOCATION ALERT! Gnocchi on 9th is always cooking and ready for you-now on the Upper West Side! Getting hot, fresh, cheesy gnocchi is now available downtown and uptown. It's a super cute, fast and casual spot. $10 for gnocchi and $3 for burrata on top ($5 for black truffle burrata)-delish! The food comes out super fast too! Insta: @thehungrysw

Yelp
I'm not a gnocchi lover but I was very impressed with this place! We ordered the Alla Vodka ($10) since we were told it's there most popular. You can add burrata for $3. The gnocchi is served is a small container. It's the equivalent of a small rice container you'd get at a Chinese food place. There's plenty of gnocchi packed into it. They'll also sprinkle some Parmesan and cracked red pepper flakes on it if you'd like. I really enjoyed it and the concept makes perfect sense, being able to easily grab some pasta to go.

Kacie S.

Yelp
Food was so good! I got pesto and my friend got the vodka one. Both were delicious and rich. A little pricy, about $14 ish? But still good! Nowhere to sit, very small just on the go food.

Jo H.

Yelp
Unsanitary delivery. Love the food when visiting the site, BUT... Ordered for delivery. The food was leaking through the bag, even the burratta cheese was outside the bottom of the bag and all over the driver's hand. I called the restaurant and was told I had to call Grubhub to cancel and reorder. However I didn't have enough on my card to reorder. So I had to make other plans and eat later than I wanted. I called back the restaurant and suggested they do what most other restaurants do, wrap containers in plastic wrap and put the paper bag inside of a plastic bag so the driver can carry from handles. They thanked me for my suggestion but since I can't trust they will do this I doubt I can order from here again.

Yelp
This was a good choice for a quick lunch. I was able to try the vodka sauce and the pesto. Both had good flavor: the vodka sauce was bright and light, and the pesto was creamy, though the pesto had some trouble sticking to the pasta. Serving in takeout rice containers is charming. This was certainly worth the $12.

Yelp
Good cheap option on the UWS for quick on the go gnocchi served by friendly upbeat staff, but better in a sit down restaurant if you want fresh hand made gnocchi.
google avatar

Tamika P.

Yelp
Perfect for a fast, filling, and delicious meal. The truffle sauce is the best one and would get it again. The portion or perfect and the burrata is the perfect accompaniment. This will be my go to fast, delicious, affordable spot.

Bryan C.

Yelp
Antoinette's gnocchi was a 10/10yum yum yum the best I've had tbh I would def come back

Caroline M.

Yelp
So good! The employees were kind. The gnocchi was DELICIOUS. We got the alla vodka + burrata. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Betsy R.

Yelp
It was OK. Just OK. They are store bought gnocchi that you can get at any supermarket, not homemade and the sauces were also just OK. If you want a quick bite to eat, it's not bad, but it's nothing to write home about and I could certainly make it a whole lot cheaper and better at home.

E L.

Yelp
Actually addicted the truffle cacio e Pepe is insane I crave it on the daily. Run don't walk!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
I got the vodka gnocchi with burette. It was a little overpriced (hence 4 stars), but it was tasty, and the food came out quickly. I overall enjoyed it and would return.

Fella E.

Yelp
It is really just sad what goes "viral" these days. We are seriously a broken society. This is pasta, guys. Has anyone had pasta before? And it's about the quality you'd expect for $10 eating out of a Chinese takeout box. It's fine, I guess? For the same price you can get a couple slices of pizza. This food is so obviously Mid, but I guess like anything else these days, this business is probably backed by a VC or PE firm that puts in Marketing dollars to blow up on TikTok. So it's trendy and people are zombies. We are so screwed.

Erika Z.

Yelp
The pesto was extremely watery and very mild flavor. The burrata was rubbery. The sauce leaks out of the bottom of the Chinese carton honestly a pretty expensive and mid snack if you haven't tasted real Italian food it may be okay. The workers are crammed back there

Jacob F.

Yelp
Food was amazing first time ever eating gnocchi was a lil scared but Jacob Gave me a wonderful experience and explained the menu So Glad About The GLUTEN FREE OPTION will be coming back again with my wife and kids

Matt A.

Yelp
I purchased the Gnocchi with pesto, and I ask myself, "where is the pesto". I received a box of very, very bland potato gnocchi with ZERO flavoring. The gnocchi looks anemic. Not going back nor should anyone spend money here. Too bad!

Mina G.

Yelp
God answered my calls when he brought Gnocchi on 9th to Columbus Avenue. Only time will tell if people here can keep it open. If not I'll have to do it myself

Casey F.

Yelp
OMG, we needed something like this on the uws. I almost jumped for joy when I saw their sign. I ordered the alla vodka. So delicious, so happy.
