"Go Cakes, a custom cakes company in San Marino, lost 100 percent of its wedding and event catering business since March. Although they did think of closing the store temporarily, they ended up switching to dessert delivery and pick up to provide something sweet in the community and hopefully stay in business. Owner Stephanie Fong has created a deliverable new series of cream puff series, which come in a box of six (with flavors like cereal milk and matcha). As with San Gabriel Valley custom, all contact is handled with gloves and face masks on and orders are placed on a table six feet apart." - Kristie Hang

Go Cakes provided our Wedding cake and desserts and everything was delicious, stress-free, reasonably priced, professional, and looked phenomenal. ... Let me take a moment to reiterate this for the people who haven't been through the agony of wedding planning: Nothing... and I mean NOTHING that should have been simple, professional, and worth the money they dared charge us "because it's a wedding" was actually worth it, simple, professional, or reasonably priced EXCEPT FOR THIS. They treated us like family; they made us feel they were honored to share a role in our wedding, and treated their task accordingly. They went above and beyond in their customer service and kindness, and I will never forget it. Everyone loved the result, and everything looked and tasted amazing.

Oh my goodness! The cutest little small business bakery I’ve ever been to! Got the honeycomb cake to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Not only was it absolutely DELICIOUS, it was also so pretty and THE CUTEST cake I’ve ever purchased. It was my first time trying honeycomb, and it was SO GOOD! The cake was light and spongey. The frosting wasn’t too sweet, and the honeycomb added such a nice texture with a little crunch. They also have these super cute personalized and edible birthday signs for their cakes that really was the cherry on top for my sister’s cake 🥰 While we were there, we got to meet the 2 female owners who bake everything themselves in the shop. Cannot wait to come back to try all their other sweet treats and buy the rest of my family’s birthday cakes from here 😋🎂💗 the shop is kind of hard to find since they don’t have a large store front sign yet, but parking is easy. 🤗

I'm absolutely big fans with Go Cakes! I know they only use the good quality ingredients to make their desserts. This week I ordered the Go Fried Chicken for my kids' school birthday party, and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it! They never make me disappointed❣️❣️

Stephanie is PHENOMENAL. Really, a gem to work with. We met her through our wedding planner Royce Weddings & Events, and instantly knew we wanted her to make our cake. Not only is she a killer baker with unbelievable culinary skills, but she's also extremely kind and easy to work with. She was very flexible when we made changes to our cake design and came all the way out to Corona to help set it and our dessert table up. I still dream about the honeycomb bites she made for our cake (a must have if you visit her bakery!). Thank you, Stephanie, for knocking it out the park. Our friends and family still talk about how stunning (and tasty) our wedding cake was.

Yelp
While planning my Chinese tea ceremony I wanted to support local small businesses. When the time came to find a vendor for an Asian inspired dessert table Go Cakes definitely fit the criteria. From our correspondence with Maggie to the cake tasting with Stephanie - my husband and I really enjoyed working with these wonderful ladies. As an avid baker myself, I was really selective about the quality and aesthetics of the desserts I wanted to serve and Go Cakes hit the mark. The dessert table was beautifully crafted with cream puffs, cake pops, tarts, and a gorgeous three-tiered wedding cake. Everyone couldn't wait to pick at the desserts and raved about how amazing everything looked and tasted. Some of the highlights: - I had a bunch of small double happiness boxes that ended up being too small to use for my candy bar so Maggie suggested macarons to place inside as a parting gift for my guests. They were really popular and came out so beautifully in the boxes. An added plus was the ladies were kind enough to help me assemble 150 tiny boxes! They really go above and beyond for their clients. - They were kind enough to help me put my cake topper and decorative flowers on the cake. I just dropped off the flowers the day prior and it came out so great. They were also kind enough to supply cake stands and dessert stands to tie the dessert table together and because I was feeling under the weather post-wedding Maggie even offered to help pick up the items since we were local. - Since we were doing a traditional Chinese tea ceremony Stephanie being the visionary she is really pushed us to think of any unique desserts or flavor profiles we were interested in trying. As a baker myself I really admire her desire to keep learning and expanding her abilities. We ended up going with a lot of the Asian-inspired desserts already offered like their matcha tart and their sesame cream puffs but I'm excited to try more of their creations in the future. Overall I really enjoyed working with Go Cakes for my wedding and highly recommend working with these phenomenal ladies. They put a lot of love and quality into what they do and it truly shows.

Yelp
Service was friendly and very accommodating. I was able to pick up my cake earlier than expected and I'm grateful for it! If you're traveling with the cake in this warm weather make sure to have ice packs. The cake itself was fuffy, light and moist, fresh strawberries, and the cream wasn't too sweet. It was perfect for my friends and I.

Yelp
4.7 stars This bakery definitely caters to the Asian palette with their Asian-inspired flavors such as black sesame, taro, and & matcha. Additionally, the baked goods are not-too-sweet. Today, I got the Black Sesame Cake & Pomme D'eve. The Black Sesame Cake is pretty flavorful, it had the standard cake, cream, and topping. The sesame cake is pretty dense. The texture kinda reminded me of a Sara Lee pound cake. The cream was very tasty and full of sesame. The topping is a sesame sugar and it had a burnt sugar taste. This would definitely be a crowd pleaser for my sesame-loving family. Certainly my mom's favorite. The Pomme D'eve has caramel & apples. It was my favorite because I'm a fan of caramel. The cream had a very light caramel flavor to it (like it was whipped in) and everything worked really well together. The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the biscuit at the bottom because it was difficult to cut through and, when eaten with everything, I don't think it contributed much in terms of flavor. Otherwise, would highly recommend this. Free parking in front. Small seating area in store. A bit pricey, but desserts are impressive enough to warrant a 2nd & 3rd visit to try other cakes.

Yelp
Such a cute small bakery in San Marino. This place has become one of my favorite places to come in the area just with one visit. I've been dying to come here so many times but their hours always conflict with my work schedule so I had it bookmarked for awhile. So I called to ask if they had the Sesame Whole Cake because when I looked online to order, it said I need to order one day before which was very reasonable nonetheless. But! When I called, she offered me to make it in 3 hours which was what I initially wanted! So I placed my order along with the custom cookie sign for the owner of the cake for extra $5 and made the payment over the phone. It was such a smooth and pleasant experience from the beginning! Then I went around 3:15 pm which was a bit earlier than promised time and was informed my custom cookie wasnt ready so I told them I will come back in 30 to an hour. I had to run errands in Arcadia so it worked out perfectly fine. Around 4:30 pm, I went in and picked up the cake along with the cookie! She offered me free candles also and bagged them for me. She was so caring and friendly. Oh the cake!!! Oh gosh, I am OBSESSED with anything black sesame and their Sesame Cake is soooooooo good. It had the perfect texture, flavor and everything just came together in the most pleasant way possible. I can definitely eat this everyday if I could! Probably the best Black Sesame Cake/dessert I had. It was so scrumptious. I know I wasnt the Birthday girl but if someone got me this cake on my birthday, I would seriously never forget it. My boyfriend and his family all loved the cake so much and was asking where the cake was from. I went back to try the other desserts and I went with Tiramisu and it was creamy and moist. Also ordered a cul of tea and it was subtle and went nice with the dessert. I believe they all are too pretty to eat honestly. What I really want to try is the Matcha Tart! Caramel Daisy looks really good too but I am allergic to mango so I have to skip on that one.

Yelp
It's a cute little patisserie cake shop in San Marino. It has very limited seating, mostly for grab and go. It was my sweet tooth cheat day, I asked for recommendations and the staff recommended their best sellers: caramel daisy and sesame cake. I happily took the advice! Both cakes were fresh and beautiful. I feel that their style is more of a Asian type of patisseries, delicate but not overly sweet. Some might think they were not rich enough. Would recommend pairing it with a warm cup of milk tea, they paired perfectly together. You can tell the owner put lots of thought into the small details. TL;DR. Worth trying once at least. Come support small local businesses if you can. They also do drinks and custom cakes, will probably be returning for that.

Yelp
Ordered the cake the same day via delivery app, so very convenient if you forgot to order something in advance. The strawberry short cake is both very cute and very tasty.

Yelp
If you're looking for high-quality treats for special occasions and impressing new friends, definitely go to this place! I've visited this place since its first opening, and it still my favorite place to get desserts. My favorite to get is their tiramisu pie. The tiramisu is a mousse with coffee infused throughout, with a pie bottom that is nutty and pillowy soft cake that is sandwiched in. It's quite clever and a delight for anyone-- especially people who normally don't like tiramisu. We also recently bought a banana chocolate cake for my mother's birthday. It's not the usual favorite, but it was pleasantly surprising by not being cloyingly sweet. The cake was sweet and soft, with dark chocolate and slivers of banana. These are just a few of Go Cakes' beautiful and unique sweets, which all have delicately balanced flavors and textures. It's clear that these desserts have been made with creativity and dedication. Get anything and everything from here-- it's worth ALL of your money. (Attached are a few photos from the many visits I had here! I need to keep better track of my photos...)

Yelp
What a gem!!! Came here to buy a variety of cake slices for my birthday and I was more than satisfied. The bakery is small, but well decorated inside with calming vibes. There's plenty of street parking. Their service was excellent. Despite buying so many cake slices, I did not feel judged. The staff was very friendly and was welcoming of all my questions. They have so many unique cake styles and flavors that you do not typically find elsewhere. The staff told me they rotate what they offer based on the seasons, which is always a great way to keep people coming back to try out new flavors. They have cake slices for sale or you can put in an order ahead of time for whole cakes. There's also a small drink menu to complement the cakes :) 1. Fried Chicken (jk, really a cream puff) 5/5 What a creative idea. The esthetics alone is already 4 stars. Add on the 5th star with the puff's perfect crunchy outer shell and smooth and light cream in the inside. Couldn't ask for more. 2. Fruit Tart (4.5/5) Fruits were fresh and the tart's pie crust base was packed with a buttery cookie taste. The custard was not too sweet and complimented the fruit and tart base well. A refreshing treat 3. Black Sesame Cake (3.5-4/5) I liked the black sesame flavor of the cream, but the cake part was a tad too dry. If they could improve on the cake part, this cake would easily be a 5/5. Oh and the black sesame brittle on top was beyond good - sweet, but a nice variation to peanut brittles. 4. Thai Cheesecake (3/5) Love the idea of combining the 2 flavors together - the flavor turned out well. Strong cheesecake flavor with subtle thai tea flavor. 3 stars because it was a bit too dry. 5. Coconut Mousse (4/5) What an interesting concept. The coconut shell is made of chocolate and it sits on top of a chocolate cookie-like base. The inside is filled with a light passion fruit cream. Finally, it is topped with mango pieces and coconut shreds. There's also a small amount of coconut juice inside. The overall flavor is hard to describe as there's so much going on. Worth a try for yourself. 6. Latte (5/5) They are not skimpy on the espresso. Can get it sweetened or non-sweetened. Highly recommend this place. I can't wait to come back for more treats.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood cake shop owned by talented Stephanie. There's a small sitting area and free parking in the front. They have a creative assortment of cakes. My favorites are the fruit tarts with beautiful fresh berries and kiwi, cream puff shaped likes drumstick, and go puffy pudding cake. Perfect for gifting or self indulging! They also have good tiramisu, sesame cake, and chocolate cake. You can order individual size cakes or preorder a larger one for special occasions. Highly recommend checking out this cute cake shop.

Yelp
Go Cakes is a cute hole in the wall dessert shop in San Marino. It's really small and there's no space to sit inside, so its more of a grab-and-go bakery than anything else. They offer a limited selection of high quality cakes and desserts that were all aesthetically beautiful, so it was hard for me to make a choice, and given how pricey the desserts are it's not like I could get one of everything. I ended up walking away with two slices of their custard cheesecakes (one plain and one biscoff). The cheesecakes weren't overly sweet but struck the perfect balance. They were also pretty creamy and dense - I guess that was the effect of the custard. Anyways, the desserts were definitely not your standard cheesecake. Again, the desserts are pretty pricey but this place is worth checking out at least once.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Go Cakes is now my go-to for fantastic Asian desserts. I had one of everything from their display case, as well as ordered one basque cheesecake (solid 4.5/5) Since everything was delicious, I do want to point out the following as exceptional: + mango coconut shell-- was so good I reordered it the next day when I picked up my boyfriends birthday cake + black sesame cake-- not too sweet with a bold, nutty sesame flavor + taro Mont Blanc -- light and creamy, an unexpected family favorite Service was delightfully helpful and the ambiance was welcoming. Parking is easy too!

Yelp
This place is such an amazing bakery. It has all sorts of different desserts. My favorites are the strawberry short cake and the cream puffs that look like chicken drumsticks . Every time I want to have a cheat day, I come here. I also love buying my friends treats from here because I love the presentation. The desserts are just aesthetically pleasing. They are too beautiful to eat! For Halloween I decided to get two dessert boxes and they came with a oreo mochi cake, macaroons and sugar cookies. My guests loved them, they were such a hit!

James Y.

Yelp
YUMMY!!!! I usually don't give 5 stars because no place is perfect but the cakes that I purchased here were both REALLY GOOD. I was invited to a friend's house for dinner and told them that I would bring dessert so off to Yelp to find it. I read a couple of reviews from Yelp friends and went with this store. I ordered the cakes online for I did not want to go there and them say that they are out. I pre-ordered the strawberry shortcake and the honeycomb cake. Made it to the location at the time I requested. Very small store with a display case that had some of their individual portion cakes. They are very creative. One of the coconut cakes actually looked like a cut coconut. The one really comical one was the cream puffs that are shaped like fried chicken legs and you can order breadstick fries with a strawberry jam (ketchup). I got my cakes and away I went. After dinner, we cut the cakes which were very beautifully decorated. I tried the strawberry cake first and it was very tasty with the cream not being too sweet. But the honeycomb cake was one of the best cakes I have ever had. The cake was very airy and light and not too sweet. They give you some crumble to put on the cake which is a little sweet but gave the cake a very nice crunch. The cakes are a little pricey but worth it.

Yelp
I was in the neighborhood and was looking for some pastries. Found this cute little shop nearby and decided to stop by. This is what we got: Caramel daisy: 3/5. I love how it wasn't too sweet. The pastry included mocha, caramel, and mango in the middle. Honestly, the overall flavors were pretty muted. I didn't really taste the caramel, and when I did get to the mango in the center, the entire dish became more balanced and tasty. It needed the freshness and tartness of the fruit to add SOMETHING to the dessert. I wish there was a mango sauce that was drizzled over, or maybe have a mango layer on the bottom to add that extra flavor throughout. Without it, there was no depth. Cookie butter cheesecake: 4/5. The cheesecake was also not too sweet, which is a huge plus. The cookie butter added an interesting note to the dessert, but similar to the above, flavors were muted overall. The cheese flavor was too controlled and didn't have the rich creaminess I often look for in a cheesecake. But because of this, it is lighter and doesn't feel as heavy. The service was amazing! The owner, Stephanie, was very kind and shared with us her journey from becoming a home baker to owning this super cute storefront. Very excited for her and will come back to try some other goodies.

Yelp
I first learned about Go Cakes from Instagram - I think I stumbled upon an article about the founder of Go Cakes. Curious to learn more (as I always am about bakeries, especially involving cakes) and glad to support a local small business, I drove down the street to San Marino to select some cake slides for Mother's Day. Parking is readily available along the street. I picked up: - Black Sesame cake slice - Mini pork floss cake - Strawberry cheesecake - Matcha tart - Mango truffle (?) - forgot actual name Of the desserts I picked up, I liked the mini pork floss cake the least. I think this is really a matter of personal taste because I tend to prefer pork floss on fluffy baked buns. My family and I enjoyed the other desserts, with the standouts being the black sesame cake, matcha tart, and mango truffle. I find that many places using matcha in dessert have a very light matcha flavor, however, I prefer a stronger matcha flavor, and this tart delivered exactly that. The mango dessert had layers of cake, mango jelly, cream, and was topped with juicy mango pieces. Their cake slices and desserts were cute and not too sweet. I do need to come back and try different flavors/items! If you're looking for flavor, aesthetic, and friendly customer service, this a great local bakery to check out.

Johnny W.

Yelp
Fantastic all around cake with beautiful aesthetic. Not your regular cake shop. If you want high quality cake that's freshly made, light in texture & layered with great cream that you may just finish the whole cake yourself, look no further. Their cakes are packed with the flavor from the ingredients & not some crazy powder/sugar. We ordered the strawberry cake for a birthday (with cookie topper), and we loved it so much that we order the chocolate for dad's birthday the week after. Can't wait to go back & try their tarts & do some customized cake for the future!

Yelp
Go Cakes was recommended to me by the owner at Cos & Pi. I found them on IG and finally took the drive to San Marino to check em out. This cake store is located in San Marino off of a busy street. Street Parking is available and additional parking located in the back of the building. Once you walk in, you walk into a really cute and small store with a small seating area filled with beautiful plants. It is a small location so not much inside besides the glass cases stored with their gorgeous and high quality mini and large cakes. I ordered the moustache banana chocolate cookie crumb cake for Father's Day and all I can say is every bite was savory and delightful. Each layer just melts in your mouth. The staff was inviting and helpful when placing the order. When placing an order for pick-up online or over the phone they do require payment in advance. Overall, highly recommend this lil gem and look forward to placing a custom cake order for future events.

Ross W.

Yelp
What a cute place. Easy to miss so you have to keep your eyes open. So far I've tried their chocolate Banana Cake, Thai Tea Cheesecake & Tiramisu. I don't like bananas but glad that I gave it a shot. It's amazing. I love Thai Tea, but I wouldn't be able to tell it's Thai Tea based on the flavor. However, it's still tasty. Their version of tiramisu differs from what I am used to (more cake-y here), but it's still very good. I'm a fan!!!! It's slightly pricier than other Chinese bakeries, but worthwhile. Customer service is excellent. The same girl who helped me twice is very friendly & polite. Go check it out.

Yelp
Wow, can I please give Go Cakes a 10 out of 5 stars?! San Marino may be a quiet, suburban neighborhood but Go Cakes is truly one of their hidden gems. Just by looking at their menu offerings alone, you can see that the desserts here are an artform. They feature many unique and thoughtful Asian-inspired pastries you may not find anywhere else. Think flavors like taro, hojicha, Thai tea and more! The burning question was, however, are these desserts nearly as delicious as they are pretty? Well, after much deliberation, I decided to take home 3 of their desserts to try for myself at home--the custard cheesecake, black sesame cake and matcha tart. The verdict? Yes, they are just as tasty as they are aesthetically pleasing, perhaps even more so. The custard cheesecake is lovely, rich and silky while the matcha tart has the most exquisite tasting cream and is stuffed with a lovely little surprise of mochi and red bean. I don't generally care for black sesame flavors but the black sesame cake here is excellent, especially for those who prefer their desserts a little less sweet. It's flavor is subtle and nutty; I love that it comes with a layer of whipped cream, black sesame cream on top of the dense, rich cake. Everything is presented beautifully and elegantly. You know what they say--you eat with your eyes. I will definitely return to try more of their dessert lineup!

Yelp
Stopped by to check out this little bakery in the neighborhood. All of the items in the small display case looked enticing and the person behind the counter was very helpful in explaining everything. Got a few items for our first visit: The custard cheese cake is like an old fashion NY cheese cake but with sort of cream brûlée flavor. The texture of the inner part is smooth and creamy and the outer crust is more "meaty". The taro cheese cake is similar with tiny chunks of taro at the bottom that gave it a slightly different texture. However, it was difficult to taste any taro flavor. The chocolate banana cake has a couple of layers of chocolate mouse and banana. The cake was dryer than what I would've liked; it's also a bit crumbly. The napoleon has a layer of yuzu cream and a layer of macha cream. The flavor combo was on point but the puff pastry was slightly over baked with a very slight burnt flavor. The fried chicken puff pastry is obviously one of the main attractions. The pastry shell was very light and has an extra crunchy layer that will make you think you're biting into some sort of thin fried chicken batter. Very interesting and worthy of the hype. My favorites were the mini pork floss cakes. The one with seaweed flakes is filled with custard and the other was filled with soft mochi. The saltiness and the slight sweetness of the pork floss complemented the sweetness of the cake and filling. We will be back to try their other offerings.

Kristie H.

Yelp
Go Cakes always brings it with their celebratory cakes and pastries! The Lunar New Year set is every bit adorable and tasty! The fortune cake is a matcha yuzu mille-feuille The lantern is a coffee mousse with freshly ground and brewed coffee beans, hazelnut and chocolate ganache The Mandarin is a yogurt mousse with mandarin compote, mandarin custard, matcha almond cake & vanilla sable The ox cake is made with milky mascarpone cheese filling, charcoal cake and milk mochi Go Cakes also has some specials for Valentine's Day as well so go check them out!

Yelp
Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of the many cakes and coffee I've devoured here so you'll have to accept the one I have. I was in desperate need of a strawberry shortcake (as requested by my friend for her birthday) and Go Cakes had me covered! Not only did I get the whole cake for 6-8 people, I bought some extra slices for myself. I've been here a couple of times and I would recommend giving yourself and this business a fair amount of time before your order (if it includes a custom cookie or cake). They're a small business and they get quite a lot of orders. Otherwise you can usually pick up one of their cakes/slices of cakes fairly quickly!

Kattie V.

Yelp
I recently got a slice of their custard cheesecake and two slices of the tiramisu. They looked super cute and delicious, but unfortunately both were below average. The cheesecake was super dense and very much like a regular cheesecake. I'm not sure what the "custard" part was describing because it didn't taste any different than a typical cheesecake. It was also drier than I liked so I probably wouldn't get it again. I gave my parents the tiramisu because they love tiramisu. When I asked them how they liked it they said it was "kind of hard". Surprising because tiramisu is usually pretty soft. Three slices of cake for $34. I'm all for spending when it comes to delicious things, but this missed the mark. The staff was nice but disorganized. The person in front of me was picking up a pre-ordered cake. He provided the name for the order and was told they didn't have anything under that name. They asked for a phone number and he gave them several different numbers. Still no order. Then after going back and forth she said oh yes, they did have a cake under that name. She proceeded to get the cake from the fridge behind her. There was only one cake in there, which I found kind of funny because it's not like there were a ton of orders to be confused by. Parking is easy in front of the store.

Yelp
A very cute hole in the wall shop that sells high quality cakes. We asked for recommendations and the worker suggested some of their most popular cakes. We got the hojicha roll cake, black sesame cake, and regular cheesecake. Hojicha roll cake was my favorite. The taste of roasted green tea complimented the sponge so well. Definitely very unique since you can't get that at a lot of bakeries and worth trying. The black sesame cake was very dense, almost like a pound cake, was topped with some black sesame cream which was very light in flavor but still pretty tasty. Honestly not a super big fan of black sesame but I didn't mind the cake they made here and I'm sure all you black sesame fans out there would love it. The regular cheesecake was also really dense but very creamy. It was all filling and there was no crust, if there was crust, it must've been very small and tasteless. It was not too sweet but after a bite or two, you could really start feeling the guilt from cheating on your diet. The price of these three cakes came out to almost $24 which is super pricey. They aren't super big but they are heavy enough to where you won't want to eat them all in one sitting. I would recommend coming with a friend so you could try a few of their items at once. Overall, this was a cute dessert shop that sells pricey cakes that are worth the money probably once or twice a month. Looking forward to trying their cream puffs which also looked like they had a heavy price tag.

Yelp
My friend raved about this place and I was very disappointed. She said the puffy cake is so amazing, but I think it was below expectation. Or maybe because she build my expectation so high, I was let down. We ordered a set of 6 cream puff, basque cheesecake and puffy cake. They actually messed up our order when we arrived too... Puffy cake. Disappointed. Tasted like soggy sponge cake with flan on top. The set of six creampuffs came in a small box that was obviously too small to fit six cream puffs. They had to jam our cream puffs in the box which kind of ruined them (as u can see in the picture). I understand it's a regular menu item for them I don't understand why they can't find better boxes to fit it in...... as for the taste, we ate three and the rest went in the fridge (and is still there after a month because no one wants to eat it). It was just average, not that it was horrible but I'll not order this item again. The only thing that I thought was good was the cheesecake. And it wasn't amazing either, just an ok. Overall, I'll probably not order from here again as it didn't meet my expectation at all. And disappointed at how they handled our order.

Yelp
I have heard about this place for a while but never get the chance to visit. Today I finally got have the time however I got here at 4:57pm which they are 3 mins from closing! This bakery is very neat with cute decorations. Not many cakes left so I only night 2 pieces. After knowing that I came from far, surprisingly the owner Stephanie offered another 2 slices for me to take home and try! The owner is so talented with her cakes and also very kind. The cakes are delicious and great flavored. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area!

Yelp

Yelp
With the current situation, I had weekend shifts and had a chance to check out Go Cakes. Go Cakes usually makes custom cakes, but they also have their retail store only open on weekends. Parking is street parking but when I went, there was more than enough. Side street parking is nearby as well. I went through their menu and decided to go for their cream puffs, which is a box of 6 for $21.99, consisting of six flavors: cereal milk, caramel pie, cookie and cream, s'more, matcha, and coffee. I also ended up having a puffy ($5.50), a slice of their custard cheesecake ($6.85) and their slice of chocolate banana cake on a subsequent visit as well. I kinda wish they could have individualized cream puff selection - I would pick and choose some of their flavors. The one that was my favorite was the coffee because it was a strong coffee flavor. I was definitely a fan of that and wish I could have gotten more of that one. The puffs were fresh on the day of and there is a bunch of fresh cream in the middle. The flavors of the others definitely matched what their descriptions said haha. For their puffy it's three layers: fluffy cheesecake, creme brulee, and caramel. They give a little card to rec you to microwave it for 15-20 seconds to warm it up but man that makes a huge difference. It's kinda small for what you pay for but it's interesting to try. Their custard cheesecake kept making me try to figure out what exactly the flavor I was consuming. I kept getting a creme brulee top and a thicker whisk of cheesecake as well. Their cake slice is really good too- it's moist, doesn't depend on frosting for flavor, and actually had a chocolate taste to the cake. I was definitely a fan of their cake. Through their Instagram: go_cakes, it also looks like they're expanding their menu and play testing new desserts. I'm definitely a fan of the different desserts they have and I kinda wanna try their different cake flavor slices lol.

Yelp
Tried this amazing desert that looked like a coconut. It looked and tasted like you were on the islands. Delicious.

Yelp
It's close to home so it's a quick and easy option for picking up dessert for a special occasion or to give as a gift. It's best to order ahead if buying a whole cake but if you're looking to pick up small desserts that are nicely decorated and packaged it's as good as a place as any in the area. As for the taste? It's not too sweet and many flavors that caters to the Asian palette. My parents enjoyed it but for me I prefer more robust flavors. It wasn't a dessert I would crave or buy for myself to enjoy for the sake of. I would definitely just come back because wanting to grab dessert for a small gathering or gift giving.

Yelp
Go cakes was our vendor for our dessert bar for my wedding on 2/25 at the South Park center penthouse. I ordered sugar cookies, fruit and matcha tarts, cake pops, macarons, and mini cream puffs. I found this business on IG. Their desserts really caught my eye and I had to try it for my special day. First off, they respond promptly, organized, and helped design the desserts to my modern monstera theme. It made my wedding experience exciting and stress less. Not only did the dessert look beautiful and perfect, it tasted delicious. My family and friends demolished it before I cut my cake. I love it though because they made our moneys worth. Maggie is also so flexible and kind. She let me borrow her dessert stands and picked them up the next morning at my hotel. Dessert table seemed more enticing to eat compared to a huge cake in my opinion and was so worth it.

Yelp
Looking at their selections, all their baked goods look really cute. First, I tried their coconut, consisting of coconut meat and juice, coconut mousse, chocolate cookie and chocolate shell. -Personally, while I liked the insides, I was not a fan of the chocolate shell. I personally think it was because I don't like dark chocolate that much and that's exactly what the shell was. Second, I tried the fried chicken cream puffs. -This would have been my favourite. It was so cute it looked like fried chicken. It definitely tasted a lot sweeter than actual chicken though The breading was soft and the cream was sweet. Third, I tried the custard cheesecake. - I don't know if this is the correct wording, but can "too cheesy" be a word? The first few bites were delicious but after that it was a bit too much for me. Definitely needed a glass of milk. I think if I paced myself, it would have been better. Overall verdict: I would come back for the fried chicken cream puffs and maybe try out their other cakes. They all looked so good

Yelp
Go Cakes is nice little option for desserts. They offer quality food at a nice location. COVID The small fridge display is right up front so customers can go no further than the entrance to the shop. Everything feels clean. DESSERTS Everything I've tried from here has been good! It's not super cheap but it's reasonably priced. The shop is small and the selection is limited. SERVICE Good and friendly. PARKING Street (free)

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood bakery in San Marino. High quality cakes that are moist and not overly sweet. Aesthetically pleasing as well. Friendly service. I'd go back to try more.

Yelp
RUN don't walk to Go Cakes! I have been buying their individual and whole cakes since I moved closer to San Marino, and they all are delicious! My goal is to try all the different cakes they offered and I want to say I am probably half way there. This review is for my last visit last Friday. I ordered the strawberry cake for my bff's birthday dinner. When I parked and got out of the car, the cake looked fine. When I got in the house and took the cake out of the bag, that's when disaster struck. The cake tilted to the side, and my heart dropped! I tried to move the top half of the cake back to the middle, but because it was buttercream, i made it more worse, and I knew there was no way of making the cake half decent. I called Go Cakes to see what they were able to do for me, maybe they can help me fix the cake. Stephanie, the owner, picked up the call and she is the most amazing understanding business owner ever!!!!! She was so caring and understanding. Stephanie understood that I could not bring the cake to the party, especially it is not presentable. She took my disastrous looking cake and exchange it to one of her beautiful cakes she still had available. AMAZING!! I am forever grateful for Go Cakes and Stephanie for their generosity. I have nothing but great positive things to say and I highly recommend them for your sweet tooth!

Yelp
Go Cakes has been our go to place for all our deserts, catering and custom handmade cakes for birthdays and other parties for years. So much attention to detail and outstanding taste. The owner Stephanie is so kind and hard working. She goes out of her way to make sure you have the best experience possible. Thank you for adding so much joy and a few lbs over the years * *

Yelp
This place gets the seal of approval from my "every dessert is too sweet" Asian parents. They have loved every single item I've brought for them including the cakes. I look forward to all family birthdays so I can try the latest flavor of cake from GoCakes. The staff is always friendly and kind. I've even arrived before they opened and they helped me pick up a few items. It's something I definitely didn't expect but am grateful for their kindness. This is definitely my go-to place for desserts!

Yelp
If I could give the review 6 stars, I would. When I say this is possibly the best fruit tart I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating. The fruit tart is petite and absolutely amazing! And typically when I go to a place for a dessert, I usually don't expect that the coffee will be anything special but the coffee here is SO good. Oat milk cappuccino was delicious. Also customer service here was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
This bakery has the cutest cakes! Though prices are on the higher end, everything tastes freshly baked and is the right sweetness level. I ordered a slice of the black sesame cake, strawberry shortcake, and cheesecake. Loved it all and will be back!

Yelp
Such a cute shop with delicious cakes and friendly staff!! All of the desserts look so pretty!! I got different ones to share with others so I could try more :) they are all delicious but my favorite is the passion mango cake(seasonal)! So light and fluffy and not too sweet. I also loved the matcha tart-great combo with red bean and mochi! I will definitely come back and try the rest!! :)

Yelp
Called them up for a last minute birthday cake. Luckily they had a few favorites already made, just asking for an hour to make a custom birthday sign. Our daughter picked a banana chocolate cake and it was delicious. Not too sweet, plenty of bananas, perfectly balanced. Since it's autumn our kids still want some pumpkin pie. From the pics (sold out at the moment) we'll definitely place an order with them soon.

Yelp
Recently tried their preorder afternoon tea seat and pork floss cake. Line for pick up wasn't long, but took 15 minutes for the 2 patrons ahead of me to get their orders. Their cream puffs are good. But, holy cow! Their pork floss cake? AHH-mazing! First off, I had no idea it's served cold. Second, didn't think pork floss (savory) would go so well with mochi and cake (sweet). I didn't even bother sharing this treat. I'm definitely going to order more.

Yelp
The creations that come out of this place look way too good to eat. Their attention to detail and creativity is steps above other bakeries. A friend bought some cakes for a birthday and all of them were delicious: - Chocolate cake was smooth and creamy, with just the right amount of cake to cream - Mango egg thing- whatever went into this was magical. It was mango cream/pudding with real mango flavor on the inside and a thin shell of, white chocolate? on the outside. - Coconut pudding encased in a chocolate shell- very cool idea, and not too sweet- spot on coconut water flavors are this thing. Overall, great desserts, mostly because of the real ingredients and wonderful presentation.

Yelp
This place provides the best pastry/cakes I have ever had in this area. Not only they taste great but also they look so pretty with unique design. We ordered a 3-tier cake for my son's first birthday. Maggie responded to email for discussion very quick and open to any adjustment. Its also always our choice to get desserts for any holidays where they have special sets for Thanksgiving/Christmas/Halloween/Chinese New Year.

Yelp
Love the cute chicken looking cream puffs. So adorable and well thought out. The outside has a buo lo Bao texture and the inside filling is a nicely whipped vanilla cream. I also liked the fries it came with. Everything kept in the fridge well for a number of days. I enjoyed the Black sesame cake a lot. It was very dense and the Black sesame whipped cream paired Really nicely with it. I liked it better than the top layer icing and wished there was more of it! Surprisingly everything lasted a few days without tasting stale...except for the strawberry shortcake. It just didn't taste spectacular at all from the get go. I don't recommend getting that one. There is nothing special about it and the cake wasn't soft enough for my taste. Too much fondant and whipped cream not enough strawberries to balance it all out. Can't wait for the pandemic to be over and take some of their classes!

Yelp
This is a cute little cake shop nestled into the side of Huntington Drive in San Marino. The interior looked very cute, but unfortunately everything was blocked off due to Covid, which is completely understandable. We popped by around 5pm on a Sunday and they still had a decent amount of selection in their cake fridge. I felt very safe in the quick 5 minutes we spent looking at cakes in the shop, as the employee sprayed down the payment screen and signified that we would complete our card transaction in their exterior card reader. They have a small amount of seating outside so we sat on a bench and ate our cakes there. The employee was kind enough to ask us if we wanted water, to which we declined. Our cakes were: the matcha tart, the black sesame cake, and the strawberry shortcake. Each cake was uniquely different, but delicious. My favorite ended up being the sesame cake. It has a nice, moist chew to it with enough sweetness in the black sesame and the outer cream that I wasn't overwhelmed by the black sesame. I would highly recommend popping by Go Cakes if you want to treat yourself to some cute little treats.

Yelp
I stopped by to buy a birthday/fathers day cake for my friend and I'm very glad I chose this cake shop! Not only are their cakes gorgeous and thoughtfully decorated, the taste reflects the beauty of these cakes. Not too sweet, rich flavor, wonderful textures like how I like it! I ordered the custard cheese cake and a slice of the sesame cake. Highly recommend!

Yelp
It was my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted to get a cute cake for his birthday as a surprise. I came upon Go Cakes on Yelp and saw that they have really nice reviews, and decided to give this place a try. Before I placed an order, I called the shop that I'll be driving 2 hours and wanted to see if they can provide assistance. The employee told me that they can provide ice and sticks inside the cake to prevent cake from moving during the car ride. And told me to leave a request when I place the order. I thought that was easy and nice, so I placed an order for a strawberry shortcake, rose gold birthday topper and customized birthday cookie, and left a request for ice and sticks in the cake for the long car ride. The day of, my friends went to pick up the cake for me and they were given the cake with no ice, so they had to ask for ice. After they left the shop, my friends told me they bought a birthday topper for me. I'm like no, I bought one. And they confirmed that the topper was not inside the cake box, or anywhere. My friends had to call the shop to confirm and they said they will call her back. They ended up calling me back while I was in the car with my boyfriend and of course the birthday surprise got ruined.. He saw Go Cakes calling on my phone and heard my conversation with them. I can't even express the stress that I had to deal with at that very moment. I'm just glad that my friends bought an extra birthday topper or else i would've been more upset if I found out that there was no birthday topper before cake cutting. I hope this review will help the shop be less careless. Other than that, cake was cute and good; not too sweet. Everyone enjoyed the cake

Yelp
I love a chocolate banana cake! It's so creamy and delicious! I want to try all cake in the store.
