Apparently, James Beard Awards Found No Good Restaurants in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Go Get Em Tiger is rolling out a robust new all-day menu at its Santa Monica location at 930 Montana Avenue. Expect the usual drip coffee and espresso drinks in addition to breakfast burritos, salads, slow-cooked lentils, sandwiches, and more." - Farley Elliott

12 LA Coffee Shops With Really Fast Wifi - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Go Get Em Tiger is basically a full-blown chain now, with eight locations across the city (all of which have excellent wifi), but whenever we have a deadline that, oh we don’t know, has already passed, we head to their Santa Monica outpost. They’re located in a super-busy area filled with a bunch of trendy coffee shops, but Go Get Em Tiger rises above the rest due to their great coffee, menu filled with real foods like breakfast burritos and beet and lentil salads, and a cozy space with lots of room between tables." - Kat Hong

Google
I came in for a quick coffee, but ended up getting the chai latte, which was seriously delicious. Also, the environment is really nice, and there is a cute little outdoor seating area. Parking can be a bit tough to find, and you might want to drop someone off to buy the coffee, while someone drives around the block to come back and pick them up with the coffee, if you can't find parking. The service here I amazing, and the employees are super nice and you can tell they like their job. I'd definitely come back here :)

Google
Addition: Please please try brown butter shortbread!!!!! They have the world best shortbread. The cranberry scone tastes great too. One of the best homemade chai places! Since I'm a huge fan of chai who has tried a lot of different styles of chai from various coffee shops, gget's chai is very authentic and has rich and strong flavor as you can see its color from my photo. It certainly deserves a 5-star review! I visited the shop at 1:45pm, and the staff told me that all the popular pastries were sold out around 11:30am. I'll try next time!

I went there on my vacation to Santa Monica. Great service, coffee and food (I had flat white and salt chocolate cookie). I would love to see this place with some live music! Good cali vibes

Google
Patio-only seating works well for this brainchild of Glanville & Babinski. Arrive at opening to beat the line…Burrito and flight provide a solid foundation to power into the afternoon.

Google
The food was amazing and the service was great. I had an orange date cake and corn blueberry muffin. However I don’t know what happened but the mocha and coffee didn’t taste that great imo.

Google
Best coffee in LA! Be sure to get the almond-macadamia latte and a chocolate chip cookie. Can’t wait for this location to start having food too.

Google
Unbelievable. They really don’t care about updating google maps so their would-be customers might not waste their time driving here or their money paying for an hour of parking only to walk up and see a sign on the door that they’re closed for a few months for renovations. Cool. But update your listing! Omg. For the love of god. I got burned at their Montana location 3 times last year (or two years ago?, don’t remember) when they were opening and kept changing their hours also without updating any listings. I keep trying to give them my money, and they keep wasting mine. Awesome coffee and food and employees. Great team. But come on. I own a small business in New York and we always update our listings. You know why? We care about our customers. Takes us about 30 seconds to not waste our customers’ time. Who is the manager at these places? Unreal. I want to love you guys so much….but at this point you’re the toxic girlfriend all your friends are telling you to forget about. Maybe think about trying to change that.

We walked up for a try on a recommendation. Worth a trip. Not much seating. Staff isn’t very helpful. Definitely better as a grab and go situation.

Yelp
Convenient to our motel, the beach, and right on Main Street, Go Get Em Tiger delivers tasty coffee and baked goods (albeit at a steep price, like $6 for a teeny brownie and $4.50 for a small cup of drip coffee). Incredibly pleasant staff and lots of locals making the trek.

Yelp
Super cute, decent cappuccino, and beautiful latte art! Would totally visit this place again!

Yelp
3.5 stars. Been here a few times and the service is friendly and relatively quick for to-go. Coffee is solid and food is good as well. There's a little indoor seating and a few outdoor tables as well. My main challenge is the price for what you get. I ordered a latte and the protein brekkie and it came out to $23. I'm pretty sure coffee only comes in one standard size and the protein brekkie is effectively 1.5 scrambled eggs, 1/4 an avocado, 2 strips of bacon and some kale for $15 (bread is +$3). Given the portion size, $10 feels more reasonable for this item, even with Santa Monica prices. It's good but sadly I was still pretty hungry afterward.

Yelp
Forgot about our coffee, which wouldn't be a big deal except there was literally no one else there. Two dudes came by to pick up their order and were told their food was never made because their kitchen closed at 1 pm (but the app still allowed it). Asked after coffee and they made a cold version of it instead of hot as requested. Not great. Go Get Em Tiger? More like Forget Em Tiger.

Yelp
This review is solely based off the matcha. I did not try the food. The matcha is $8. I will give it a 2/10 since I appreciate the effort to sweeten the drink with honey instead of simple syrup but if I'm ordering an "Iced Honey Matcha" I would expect it to you know....taste a little like honey. It had zero hint of a honey taste and had zero sweetness at all. Maybe they forgot? idk it basically just tasted like a cup of the house made milk that was green.

Yelp
Expensive BAD coffee terrible customer service Do Not Go! wish I would have read Paul's review before I went...had the same experience New to LA and wanted to try a local coffee house...going back to Starbucks :)
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best breakfast burritos in town, especially when paired a latte. The team even walked it out to my table. Small seating area with chairs and tables isn't the fanciest, but it works. I go here weekly now.

Yelp
The kitchen is back and it was wonderful to meet Natalee n Joel them gems of this company. So excited to come to this local yum!

Yelp
Useless location. Paid $5.50 for a small coffee.... $4.50 + $1 tip. Then the problem started. Would not let me put milk in my own coffee ? Had NO other sweetener but liquid sugar. I am diabetic, could not use the liquid sugar, no honey, no Stevia, no Sweet n Low. Asked why no customer consideration & was told "I am not in charge of ordering inventory!" Smart ass as well ! Would not accept cash had too use a card ? Coffee was strong but way too bitter for me too enjoy, had to dump it & I really needed a cup of coffee ! Why would I go back to a coffee shop that tells you what they will & won't do & charges me for their lack of customer service & smart mouths off to me. If there were minus stars I would use them !

Yelp
cute spot! upon arrival, we luckily snagged a parking spot right in front. santa monica is so cool for having contactless parking meters, i want them everywhere now! anyways, the building is pretty! attached to a pastel motel that was very nice to look at. there are small signs pointing you where to order. the front window covered everything; their menu & offerings were just enough :) my boyfriend went with an ethiopia coffee and i tried the pineapple lime fizz. definitely worth a try! it was not what i was expecting in the best way possible. i loveee pineapple and tea so it was perfect for me. overall, a nice place to grab a drink! totally recommend!

Yelp
Quick service and great location. I stopped by before going to Sunday farmers market. Breakfast burrito.

Yelp
We got em tiger! Super cute well known spot in LA. It wasn't anything special in my opinion. The coffee was a bit watered down but I still enjoyed it. They have really cute merch that I was tempted to buy but instead I got some coffee beans which have been quite great to roast. Would I go again? Maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Yelp
Came here to grab some brunch with two friends! It's a small counter for grab-and-go only, so we went down towards the beach to eat on some picnic tables. Coffee was great tho a bit too pricey for what it was. I ordered the almond macadamia nut latte -- it was delicious, not sweet, really great! I loved it. I did feel though for $7, I was expecting it to be larger. Food wise, we got the soft scramble on a biscuit and the avocado toast. The biscuit was perfectly flaky and buttery, and the avocado toast was served on a delicious thick bread. At $11 each, this was well-priced and tasty. Overall would definitely come back! Just -1 star for the coffee pricing but otherwise a 5/5 experience!

Yelp
The caffeine king of Larchmont has finally made its way to the westside, planting its paws mere steps away from the beach. With a socially distant patio, touch-less payment system, and a small assortment of pantry items (fresh baked bread, pickled veggies, dried artisan pasta) this quaint little coffee shop is more than ready to pounce on unwelcome pandemics. The coffee and espresso drinks deserve top marks, and the breakfast burritos, salads and sandwiches are all scrumdiddlyumptious, but it's the warm and uplifting spirit of the staff that make this Go Get'em extension a welcome addition to our beloved beach town.

Yelp
Day 12 - Chicken Salad Sandwich ($14.33), came on their focaccia and was a flavorful rendition of a classic with almond slices, salt crystals, thin parentheses of red onion, and crunchy coins of pickle. Day 13 (17 Ap 2021) - Avocado Toast ($9.35 + $1.00 tip = $10.35), this was a bizarre presentation and an awkwardly high plank of toasted bread that required me to open my mouth like I was trying to hit a high note. The avocado was shingled (and we all know that can get uncomfortable) and blanketed with a quarter inch of green hot chili salsa, that had rounds of crunchy white pickled daikon radish that resembled something lens crafters might prescribe, and finally a mess of microgreens crowding the daikon that made it look like a lawn after a fresh trim.

Yelp
Stopped here over the weekend and were pretty happy with what we got. I ordered a latte and my wife had an iced mocha. Both were delicious but the latte was rather small and rather expensive. I had their avocado toast and my wife had the halumi and tomato sandwich. Both were very, very good. I was a little disappointed to learn later that I could have altered the avocado toast with lots of different options but they were not noted on the menu at the location, I only noticed when my wife checked out their online ordering (we thought about going back the next day).

Yelp
A great addition to the neighborhood! So excited they picked us! Staff - excellent, so friendly and on it! I've gone many times and they truly don't have a single bad egg. Which only makes me want to return more often. Coffee - excellent! I'm an iced coffee drinker 90% of the time but I have also had a latte there and it was also delish! Food - I've had the avocado toast and it was so good it's all I've ordered. Some days they go a little heavy on the pesto but that's easy enough to wipe to the side and a total personal preference so I'm sure the pesto lovers are in heaven. There menu is small which I love. It's frustrating when restaurants have a million choices but only a few are actual good. GGET created a smart perfectly sized menu, they stuck with the things they make best, and I appreciate them for this. Ambiance - being that they opened during covid I am so impressed with what they have been able to pull off with their space. You order at the door and pick up and the other, very organized. There windows are decked out in a great selection of merchandise: totes, coffee, hats, ect. Price wise they are on par for the area. I felt like I got what I paid for. This place is a 5/5 hands down.

Yelp
It's great to have a small local chain bring high-quality coffee to Main Street. A small but delicious looking menu and well-brewed coffee with well-spaced outdoor seating. So far I've only had a cappuccino at this location, made with a pleasing rich (almost chocolatey) distinctive roast of the day. The staff was very friendly (masked & gloved) and said they plan to renovate (undoubtedly similar to their design aesthetic at other locations).

Yelp
Excellent pourover coffee (Kirite from Ethiopia) and protein breekie. Friendly service. Happy to have tried this new place and will be back again. Stopped by during the week because I saw a long line snaking around the building on the weekend. Well, worth the wait but I'll come around during the week.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Was about to give up finding a place to sit and have a cup of coffee... and then we saw it!!!!

Samuel M.

Yelp
I've had numerous issues with this location and I now avoid it. First, there were repeated errors in my orders. Second, the wait is extremely long. Lastly, they've stopped serving food (besides pastries) and said it was a short term thing while they renovated their kitchen - but one year later, still no food service. The owners at GGET needs to get their act together. It's an embarrassment of an establishment.

Steven P.

Yelp
Love seeing Go Get Em Tiger expand around the city so that I have a comfort coffee shop to look to when I don't want to be adventurous and find a new cafe to try. The espresso is always consistent across locations and like having that expectation met whenever I make a pit stop. The ordering and seating situation still hasn't phased out from COVID times. The entrance is blocked with a register so it's more of an order and pick up at the window situation. There are tables outside to chill on so it's a very al fresco vibe. Food is very limited here; they only had a few pastries left and didn't have much to offer in terms of food. If you're looking for a coffee shop to chill, work on your laptop, and maybe grab a bite, highly recommend going to their other Santa Monica location on Montana. The Montana location is pretty brand new, has an extensive made-to-order food menu, nice indoor seating, etc. Besides the Montana GGET, Goodboybob coffee roasters in Santa Monica is also a great specialty roaster cafe with a good pastry and food program. It may be because of the location or the day but the baristas on Monday morning seemed pretty blase and disgruntled to be there. Hopefully it was just an off day!

Yelp
They don't sell happiness on Amazon, but you can find it at GGET in the form of their Strawberry Muffin. Fresh juicy strawberries with a hint of sweetness will transport you to wherever you needed to be. Wash it down with a Cortado and you'll got a recipe for a quick recharge.

Yelp
I am a coffee expert, been drinking for at least 40 years all over the world. I am writing a bad review, but first I'd like to mention the good: the coffee was excellent ! Clean and delicious tasting. So what's the problem: two fold. The first is that the CHEAP CUP they used ended up leaking all over. A coffee cup should maintain it's properties for hours if not days. This one leaked all over and I didn't even realize it until I noticed that it was dripping all over my clothing as I was walking my dog. This is total BS - Buy cups that do not leak, please! Is that too much to ask. You're in the business of selling VERY expensive coffee - at the very least couldn't you buy a commensurate cup? Second issue, and it's not exclusive to this place, but why is 12oz your large cup? Live a little dudes, buy some 16 oz cups for your customers who are used to a larger cup of coffee. For over $6 including tip (I always tip) you could allow your customers an extra 4 ounces. This also happens at my fave coffee place in the neighborhood. Bottom line, IF YOU DON'T WANT COFFEE ALL OVER YOUR CLOTHING - stay away from this place, or beseech this place to up their game. This is 2022 for goodness sakes. Provide cups that do not leak all over. Don't take your customers for fools. Thank you!

Yelp
I was craving avocado toast and a friend of mine recommended GGET and said they have the best avo toast! It was really good but had a little kick to it, which I wasn't expecting. Their coffee and tea selection was unique and delicious. Currently no outdoor seating, but we walked down to the beach and ate there! I would go back next Time I'm in the area

Chet S.

Yelp
Best coffee in LA. Best staff. Just an awesome coffee shop. Cool location. Definitely give it a try!
google avatar

Yelp
Top talked about coffee spot! Went to check it out with my coffee connoisseur husband. First off like most places in LA parking is terrible, if you are lucky you can snag a spot on the street nearby but we had to park a few blocks away and walk over. You order at the outside window. Husband got an espresso and I had a cold brew. Both were good, just not lived up to the hype we had heard. The baristas were nice and talked through the menu with us. It is a cute outdoor street vibe location and worth stopping at if you happen to be in this area of Santa Monica.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Friday afternoon for their soft opening to pick up an iced almond macadamia latte and a slice of their honey basque cheesecake. I had ordered ahead through the GGET app, so it was a quick transaction--walked up to the door, gave them my name, and got my food. Employees wore masks and were really friendly. Because I arrived just before 2 pm, and their soft opening hours are 8-3, they threw in a couple of additional pastries at no cost, which I was pleasantly surprised by! The almond macadamia latte ($7) was super refreshing on an 85-degree day in Santa Monica! It was really smooth, with not much bitterness at all and just a hint of acidity. It paired really well with the honey basque cheesecake ($7/slice), which was creamy and sweet, without being overly cloying. There's a seating area in front of the store, with a couple of socially distanced tables, for those who want to sit outside and enjoy their coffee and pastries. GGET also sells merch and pantry goods--you can even get a whole honey basque cheesecake! Plentiful parking in public lots across the street, though note that the minimum is 1 hour ($1.25/hr), so if you're only picking up, it might be cheaper to try to find a meter somewhere instead of paying for a full hour. Will definitely be coming back! I've always liked GGET, but because I live on the Westside, I'm too lazy to drive to one of their stores across the city. Now that this is open in Santa Monica, I could definitely see myself becoming a regular here.
google avatar

Kirt K.

Yelp
This place is great, they had a promotion for Ted lasso, if you used your tap pay you could get $0.99 any drink and biscuits! If you haven't seen the show it's a must and if you haven't had the coffee come on down and grab a cup or two.
google avatar

Nick V.

Yelp
the actual espresso is good but that macadamia nut milk is freakkyyyyy like what were they thinking??? please don't go get em
google avatar

Martha L.

Yelp
The service and food was great. Love the retro vibe of the area. Wonderful gluten free options. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The baked goods are yummy. The coffee options are good. Don't recommend the sugar free options. Go for the real thing...
google avatar

Luis V.

Yelp
racist. R A C I S T. Just passed by to get some coffee (never been there, no clear sign of hours until you actually walk in) as I walk in and look at the menu with said hours posted, I'm rushed away cause they are 'closed', didn't have my phone on me but couldn't have been past like 207pm which is fine but then on my way back to the store I see 3 white people stroll in and get served after I got rushed out. Best plot twist is I just moved into the building next door. This place sucks
google avatar

Lana M.

Yelp
The most amazing food, where super amazing people work. Espresso is excellent and the people that work here will seriously blow you away with their barista skills. But also, everyone here is so sweet!! Support this place as much as you can!! They def deserve your business, especially in this really hard time.

Yelp
Amazing to have go get em tiger in Santa Monica!!! My all time favorite coffee shop and they do not disappoint! Highly recommended!

T A.

Yelp
Terrible service. They forgot about our order. Food is okay. Ambiance fine - next to motel.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Basically the ugly stepchild of go get em tiger. Gget is one of the best coffee companies in la for so many reasons. But this location for some reason DOES NOT HAVE COLD BREW. It also still doesn't allow anyone inside for some reason and it doesn't have any food. The Montana location is 100x better. This location had promise but it seems like they started it and just said ehh good enough.
google avatar

Omar M.

Yelp
Horrible service and extremely unprofessional. Words can describe how disappointed I am in this place. Don't waste your money.
google avatar

Kristina B.

Yelp
I love Go Get Em in Los Feliz so was excited to try this newer location. I ordered pickup, and they said it would be ready at 8. I arrived at 8, and waited until my order was ready around 8:25. No one apologized for the wait. Then I rushed off because I was late... only to realize they hadn't included a fork or napkins, so I couldn't actually eat my food at a picnic as planned. So, not the best first experience, but when I eventually ate my food it was good (and the coffee is great too!)- hopefully they'll work on timeliness and including (or asking if you want) utensils!
google avatar

Courtney C.

Yelp
I would recommend that the workers improve their customer service skills. There is no reason why there's 5 people inside and not one can actually check on the line at the door. One guy totally ignore the person in front of me after serving someone else coffee and he was there to pick up, like myself, and what could've been 2 minutes turned into 10. Otherwise great Chai Tea Latte that I would highly recommend.

Sarah M.

Yelp
This place is whack with their hours. I just walked all the way there to get a coffee because it's a Sunday at 11AM and the hours on Yelp say it's open and it's closed. This is the 3rd time this has happened. I would love for this to be my neighborhood spot but it's randomly closed all the time and they don't communicate that to their customers. And don't even get me started with their app.
google avatar

Sepand S.

Yelp
Great coffee. Great pastries. Great food. What more can you ask for? Highly recommend this location of what is already a well established and high quality local chain

Mike T.

Yelp
Very happy to see GGET in SaMo - expansive beverage and food menu, very friendly customer service! This business taking pandemic measures seriously with touch-less payment and practicing social distancing. Sad to see Amelia's go and will miss them dearly- but GGET is a worthy addition to the Main St SaMo community.

Mohamad K.

Yelp
We found this coffee place while walking down main street, Santa Monica and decided to try it. Service was super fast. We ordered the espresso and it was exploding with taste and ended up purchasing some coffee beans. For a cold drink, try the iced almond macadamia latte.

Jordan Q.

Yelp
After checking in on our order that was already taking a while and being told it was coming up next, I then saw party after party of people that ordered after me get their drinks. After reconfirming what I ordered (I'm pretty sure they forgot my order) it was still another 10+ minutes, for two iced lattes. I was really hoping the lattes were at least good so I can give a little better of a review, but unfortunately my wife's latte just tasted like bland almond milk. Mine didn't fare much better. And walking away dropping $18 for two lattes, a muffin, tip and an entirely to long of a wait is a good reason not to come back.

J R.

Yelp
Overpriced. Bitter coffee and average pastries. The place has outdoor seating in front of a motel. I would go elsewhere.
google avatar

Franne K.

Yelp
The food and drink at GGET are great, but the customer service can definitely be better. My friend and I were the only ones in line and there was only one customer before us. After my friend had ordered, the person taking orders walked away and never took my order. I stood there for a while and had to ask for someone to take my order. My friend got her drink soon after she had ordered. I ordered the same beverage and they had forgotten mine. They gave the orders to the two customers who ordered after me and once again I had to go up and talk to someone to get my drink.

Alison Z.

Yelp
This place is absurd. We just paid $20 with a highly encouraged tip for 2 coffee's and a 2" lead like puck masquerading as a biscuit. Had to wait 10 min (no one in front of us) for the coffee. Another 10 min wait for the biscuit. When I asked where the breakfast burrito we ordered was I was told she hadn't charged us for it and it hadn't been made. She offered to charge me and I could wait another 15 minutes. I left. Now making breakfast at home instead. Beyond disappointment. Coffee was fine...

Clarence L.

Yelp
Slow morning before 10, stood at the window while employees were inside shooting the breeze and getting coffee for the only other customer. Guy in the kitchen saw me waiting and waiting, and finally gestured at the server to help me. She looked at me and turned back to continue her conversation. Waited some more and finally walked off. Obv they don't have a plan, have plenty of customers, and do not GAF

Elle L.

Yelp
I want to love this location. I'm a big fan of GGT and LOVE the staff at the Culver City location so I was excited when they opened in my neighborhood. Unfortunately I very consistently order on line and then show up 10-20 minutes later only to find that they have not even started my order. Usually it is just sitting in the printer waiting for someone to notice. They do occasionally seem to have tech issues with the order not coming through but mostly it just seems that no one is paying attention. Good coffee. Good food. Customer service could be better.
