Go Pocha 고포차 Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Located on the first floor of a multi-story shopping center along Vermont, Go Pocha looks like an insurance claims office from the outside, but on the inside you’ll find one of the best bar centerpieces in Koreatown - a gigantic glowing tree with money hanging off of it. It’s not real money, but after a few bottles of soju and some Hite, you won’t be able to tell the difference. They also have a solid snacks menu with some of our favorite cheese corn in the neighborhood." - Brant Cox

Located in the heart of Los Angeles’ Koreatown Go Pocha offers an authentic Korean bar experience that combines flavorful dishes with a lively atmosphere. The interior features a unique centerpiece a gigantic tree—making it a vibrant ambiance. The menu boasts a variety of Korean street food-inspired dishes. Standouts include the kimchi bacon pasta and the seafood pancake, both praised for their rich flavors. The kimchi fried rice is another favorite among patrons. Go Pocha is also known for its generous hospitality. Diners often receive complimentary dishes, such as a free egg appetizer, enhancing the overall dining experience. The bar operates daily from 5 PM to 2 AM, making it an ideal spot for late-night gatherings. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a casual dinner or celebrate with friends, Go Pocha provides a welcoming environment with attentive service. Overall, Go Pocha delivers a memorable Korean dining experience in Los Angeles, blending delicious cuisine with a fun and inviting atmosphere.

The spicy chicken feet were really flavorful and paired perfectly with the rice balls, making for a great combination. The bean sprout soup served on the side was light and refreshing, helping to balance out the spiciness of the chicken feet. Also tried the mentaiko omelet, which was soft, savory, and absolutely delicious. Overall, the food here was amazing, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great late-night eats!

This review is gonna be a lengthy one, so skip to the end if you want a TL:DR. Okay so I heard that Dan Sung Sa was a really good Korean spot to go to. Well, I went, it was a Saturday night, around 12am and it was PACKED. Talking about a 45 min wait at midnight... SO I went drove a tiny bit and got to this place. The inside vibes are really nice and cozy! The waiter was very nice and attentive. Right away I was asked if I wanted any drinks and the waiter helped me land on a ice cold Kloud beer. I was brought water, a hot bean sprout/green onion soup (it was very tasty, I wanted to ask for more but I couldn't muster up the courage but if you go I bet you'll think about getting a second serving of it) and my beer with a glass. I asked about some items on the menu and the waiter helped me settle on the boneless chicken and cheese plate. It was served on an INSANELY HOT plate, its a rock plate on a wooden base as to keep hot throughout the entire time you're there. I'm talking about the sauce was BOILING when it got to my table. 10 minutes later, IT WAS STILL BOILING. This was a dream come true honestly. If I had a useless super power I would choose to have my food hot the entire time I eat it, and I have been eating boiling hot food ever since I could hold a spoon on my own. If you are one of those people who can't handle hot food, please do not order this and expect to eat it within 15 mins of getting it, honestly this review isn't for you people, this is for those who enjoy their food hot. When I got home about 30 mins later, the food was still hot, but cool enough for those of you who don't have any joy in their life aka those who blow on their food to cool it down were able to eat it. Also, the spice level was pretty nice, I love spicy food and they added chili slices to the veggies that were under the noodles so it added a nice kick. I asked for rice as well and their rice was really good. Good white rice, nothing more need to be said about good white rice. My total was $35 BUT I do have to say that I had a good portion left over and I am a big guy, I was stuffed. These are big portions. I would gladly share my plate with another person and still be satisfied. I will come again and try another plate. This by far, is my favorite Korean food!

Google

Love it! I felt like I was in the Korean drama. Love this restaurant. Their service was excellent. Their food was unique. Their servers were excellent. Love their watermelon.

Google
Super good food! The servings are pretty big so don’t overorder! If you go during happy hour (before 7pm I think) it’s half off all food when you order just one drink so it’s definitely worth it!

Google
randomly swing by this place, was amazed by the big food portion, tasty food, and kind 'overwhelmingly' great service. The music is usually US pop and popular K-pop. nice atmosphere for hang out with friend, and grab a drink, and have good conversation.

Yelp
Great food and excellent service. Has the feel of a dive bar and you can count on the tvs to always have K-pop videos playing. Don't sleep on the kimchi fried rice.

Yelp
It's been years but for old times we wanted to give this place another try. Odang soup was SPICY (I choked on the soup being soooo spicy) cream corn was just cream corn but I did enjoy Kimchi pancake. Just seems like this place is dead now :/ so sad. Service was good, although they had no zero soju and only 2 kinds of beer :(
google avatar

Truc T.

Yelp
Not too Shabby for a late eat/drink! Standard Korean Bar style place, & came on late Saturday night with friends for the vibes. Food & Drinks: Not a great selection of soju but the food was fairly decent. Corn Cheese: Overly Sweet Kimchi Fried Rice w/Egg: Good, would spread & let griddle char the rice a bit for crispiness. Army Stew: Standard & good! Employees will take a shot with you if you offer, decent food/vibe, but overall I personally like the other places in Ktown!
google avatar

Yelp
Apparently, this place is still encouraging their employees to be completely rude and chase down customers that they deemed "did not tip enough". This happened to my friends a few days ago; they were telling me about a restaurant in K town in which the servers and host chased them down after paying and demanded more tip/asking if their service was bad, even despite tipping 20%, and it turned out to be this location AGAIN! It seems this place encourages their employees to expect a 100% tip and does not punish this behavior. I am updating this review because it is important for others to know our experience and be careful, especially with what they did to me (charged extra tip onto my bill themselves)

Yelp
my friend and i went here after a concert and tried their kimchi fried rice along with their kimchi bacon pasta. not to be dramatic, but the kimchi pasta was the best one i've ever had in ktown which is saying along because i've tried many of them. both were excellent dishes with surprisingly different flavors. they even gave us a complimentary egg dish and also the place was super cute inside. not to mention, the server was also super friendly and always tried to assist us.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Go Pocha pretty randomly on a Saturday night. We had planned to go to LA Tofu House next-door, but their wait time was crazy so we decided to check out Go Pocha instead. What a blessing! I'm so happy I got to try this place. The interior had good vibes and was set up like other Korean bars. Right off the bat, we were each given a complimentary egg. We then ordered the Army Stew and Seafood Pancake to split among 3 of us. The service was super quick and attentive; we were brought out our food immediately. The food itself was great! The Army Stew was packed with toppings, and the flavor was delicious. The Seafood Pancake was on the eggier side and not as crispy but still solid. We had enough to eat for the 3 of us with just the 2 dishes, so the cost per person ended up being super reasonable as well. The parking is all valet which I think was $4. In general, I recommend coming to this place for late-night food with a group of friends!

Yelp
If you want a taste of that street food life in Korea, then Go Pocha might just do it for you. The interior is designed to look like, well, a korean bar and what not. So naturally you need to drink some soju or somaek. First thing that happens is they give you some complimentary eggs, whether you want to let it sit or try to turn it into an omelette is up to you. Next, street foods. I'm a sucker for fish cake soup, tteobokki, and cheese over grilled pork. So yeah, that's what we went with and it's all delicious. I definitely ate more than my peers oops. Pair everything with a bottle or seven of soju and beer and you are in for a eventful night out in ktown.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday party and it's such a good vibe!! Called a day ahead and reserved a table for 14 of us, which they had no problems with, so very accommodating for large parties. The service was great, and they gave us 2 free dishes and 3 free bottles of Soju! The food was delicious, some favorites were the sautéed chicken gizzards, seafood pancake, and the kimchi fried rice. Would definitely come again for a late night meal and drinks with friends

Yelp
The food is delicious. We had the bacon pasta and other dishes and all was sooo good. The place is nice, not crowded. The service was excellent!!

Yelp
It was a busy weekend where concerts and other events were happening all throughout the city. It was already late at night almost 11pm when my group of friends came in. We were a party of 8, yet Go Pocha came in clutch and were able to get us a whole big table right away. For my order I got the Fish Cake Soup. It wasn't anything special but the broth was rich in flavour and was perfect after a concert. Although I wished I ordered something more solid rather than soup. I also drank so much boricha throughout the night I probably went through more cups of it than the whole table combined. My bad for being dehydrated that day, oops. I think if my group wasn't so tired that night we probably would have ordered some bottles of soju as well, that probably would have made the night more exciting. Go Pocha seems like a fun place to be if you have the right energy and some drinks. I would try this place out again with better energy.

Yelp
So amazing place. It was my first time. Food is delicious and perfect. Service is great. I will must again. I will recommend my friends. Thank you so much guys. Good luck

Yelp
Vibey KTown ambience inside, bumping music and music videos playing on TV's. Quick and delicious food service. But the wait staff did not circle the restaurant often. We had to flag down a waiter each time we needed something. Seems suitable for a small or large group! Parking is tough. $4 valet in the parking lot but also a rite aid across the street Food wise I would order again the Creamy Bacon Kimchi pasta and the Spam Kimchi Fried Rice. Bombbbb

Yelp
Came here Sunday night around 11pm after rehearsal and it wasn't busy at all. I was so surprised by the cool interior where it felt very intimate and very vibey! They also were playing a lot of KPop music videos on the screen and it was pretty hype. The servers were super nice and very attentive to us. And the price range wasn't too bad because we did family style and tried a bunch of things. I'm also not usually a fan of spicy foods (I do love the sauce & flavors though) but it's a new year so I was feeling very open-minded to trying something new. We had the Rabokki (a type of Tteokbokki), Army Stew, Spicy Boneless Chicken with Cheese, Jokbal (Pig Feet), and Corn Cheese to share. And we even got surprised with a fruit platter at the end. I must say it was pretty spicy for some of the foods but they were so delicious and it was a good amount of portions to share. I'd say the rabokki, boneless chicken with cheese and corn cheese were my favorites! Definitely recommend those if you ever visit here! Will totally come back again another time! :)

Yelp
I love that they give you free egg! Tables are quick and easy to get and the service is pretty good too. We got the kimchi rice balls and they were amazing!! So simple yet sooo good and the perfect little snack before a night out. The atmosphere is very chill with cute scribbles and drawings all over the wooden walls. We had fun reading the writings written by past drunk people. I love the lighted tree in the middle of the bar :) A super good pregame spot!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was recommended by my cousin who lives less than a mile down from this place. Went to catch up with him on a Wednesday night. It wasn't too busy, it was a cute little spot, ambiance was cute lighting dim. Service was quick and the guy was really nice. The food was amazing and it hit the spot after walking around Universal. The tteoboki was nice and saucy not watered down like some places that I've been too. It also had a nice little kick. We also got seafood soup which had little crab legs, mussel, clams and it was very comforting. We also shared a seafood pancake, that was also very delicious it was made fluffier than what I was used too, but that didn't affect how amazing it tasted.
google avatar

Yelp
~Food~ They make a complimentary fried egg for you in the beginning! Pretty yummy Spicy rice cake and noodle: SPICY! But so good! The noodles and rice cake are nice and chewy and I also like the consistency of the sauce (not too thick and not too runny, perfect for dipping the fried seaweed roll with) Fried seaweed roll: crispy and flavorful! The salad it comes with is also really good too. And for the price ($6.99), it's well-portioned ~Service~ Friendly and attentive service!! We asked for a couple lemons and they handed us halved lemons and our own lemon squeezer LOL fun experience. There's lots of servers walking around and checking up on us ~Parking~ Parking is a bit tricky here, there was no valet when we went on a weekday night. We got lucky with and found parking in the plaza lot
google avatar

Andrew N.

Yelp
Love the environment inside as it feels so relaxing and comforting. In the center is a tree with lights wrapped all over it and the setting is very much like a korean bar. The service there is fast and always willing to help. The food is amazing as I got the surf and turf which can feed roughly 4 people at a low price. They give you complimentary barley water and steamed egg which adds onto your meal. I only went for the food, but being in there made me crack open 2 bottles of beer and a bottle of soju. They have valet parking for $5 in that plaza so I recommend finding street parking if you can.

Yelp
Go Pocha - Koreatown 9.1/10 -- Review: solid and W spot. good service. good food. open until 2 am. did justice
google avatar

TJ G.

Yelp
Very fun vibe! Loved all the food we ordered. A bunch of plates for the table to share, 4 people total. Get the corn cheese!! Best I have ever had! this is a late night spot and definitely soju night out vibes. Service was quick. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
I like Go Pocha. It's in a nondescript mall on Vermont, just north of 6th. When the crowds and attitude are too much at Dan Sung Sa, just head here. The food is just as good, actually better perhaps, and there's always a table open. The waitstaff are super attentive. One even overheard my trying to Shazam a K-pop song and wrote down the name of the band and gave me the paper. What a sweetie. The beer is free flowing, and they do have smaller sizes than the gallon beers they sometimes force upon you elsewhere. The skewers are so tasty and the stews are savory, aromatic and seem to get better the deeper you go. The "Pocha" scene hasn't really hit mainstream Asian food culture, the way the boba tea and ramen crazes have. So enjoy it here before it's discovered, because once it is, I doubt it will be as good.
google avatar

Shelley C.

Yelp
Valet parking right in front, small interior but it's very cute and vibey, and they play kpop music videos on the TV screens, yay! We ordered corn cheese, rice cake with spicy sauce, and beef. Everything was very delicious, service was nice and quick! Also loved the egg that you get at the beginning of the meal. Would recommend Go Pocha!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my girlfriend's and I go to spot for a date night. The atmosphere is fun and entertaining and the food is great. Heavier meals but if you're hungry and in the mood for tasty food I recommend.
google avatar

Phillip T.

Yelp
egg appetizer- so creamy and dreamy. Surf & Turf(w/ just the turf)- YUMZZ IN MY TUMZZ. I extremely enjoyed this with some soju. It was so filling and just hit the right spots. Tteokbokki w/ Ramyun- classic and done just right. This is sweeter than I usually have, so def keep that in mind! Spicy Chicken with cheese- nothing that you should feel pressed to get, but just a nice thing to munch on. The environment was absolutely insane and decorated so well. The service was great and on top of everything. Food came out soo fast.
google avatar

Kareena G.

Yelp
Food and customer service was amazing. I went during lunch time so it wasn't too busy. But the server was very attentive and everything came out delicious
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with friends on a Sunday night and we were seated right away. For food we ordered: -kimchi pasta -spicy fried rice -army stew The food was very good. I love spice and the spicy fried rice was honestly a lil bit too spicy. The kimchi pasta was the best thing we had it was sooo good, army stew was also very delicious and we enjoyed the complimentary egg. Good food and good drinks, would come again.
google avatar

Yelp
Really loved coming here! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and great portions. The complimentary egg & tea were a neat bonus! The spam kimchi fried rice and cheesy corn were the highlights of my visits. Overall the place has a really nice ambience for a nice date night or just grabbing drinks with some friends. Highly recommend!

Aldana W.

Yelp
Service & food are amazing! Great place! Highly recommend for a fun & chill night out with friends!

Yelp
Good food, Bad service. For 20 minutes we were not checked on and when I raise my hand right in front of them they just look at me then leave. It was not one instance but many. We were sitting there half the time not even ordering. They just did not care and we were alone unless we had to walk up to them across the room to ask. This was more apparent on this one older lady. Even after we got the food they did not even refill our waters or check on us again So we decide instead of my usual 20% tip I give them 10%. The same older lady complained that I did not tip enough. I obviously tipped that much because of her service to confront me about it is trashy. Honestly I was debating on one dollar. Food is good I do not want to take that away from the restaurant but there are many places like this in LA. I will not be coming back.
google avatar

Judi W.

Yelp
Such a great place for late night eats! Dishes are priced fairly and the portions are sizable! Definitely a good place to go with friends after a night out :) Service was quick and attentive! And I love that there are section/rooms so groups can have privacy from other groups. The ambiance is loud and chatty which I really enjoyed! You could still converse with people but you can tell that it's a lively place. FOOD: Corn cheese - delicious and creamy! Definitely a little different from other corn cheese that I've had. It seems to have a stronger mayo flavor to it which I enjoyed. Korean Rice Cake - A classic dish that was delicious. Just as I expected! And good portion size that's fit for sharing. Carbonara pasta - I forgot the exact name for the fish but it's a creamy cheese pasta like dish that was delicious due to its savory flavor. It's not like a classic carbonara dish. It definitely had its own twist to it. Would 100% come back!

Yelp
Great service. the staff is super nice and accommodates our every request. The food and drinks are solid for a pocha style restaurant. Would highly recommend if you want. a nice place to drink and hangout with your friends.

Yelp
This place is great for going out with friends. They have beer and soju, what else do you need? Good food that pairs well with alcohol and they got that. We ordered the surf n turf, fried chicken wings, and fries. The surf n turf tasted good and not very spicy. It's good for everyone to pick at over time. It has a lot of vegetables compared to meat. The fried chicken was nice and crunchy. There were around 8 pieces in one order. The fries were plain and a bit boring. The ambience is good, pretty casual. I think there were other groups getting rowdy but it's hard to notice other people during your time. There's a lot of cool decorations in the place and as a feature(?) you can bring a sharpie or paint marker and write on the walls. Spots near the tables are covered in little writings from people over the years so you can also make your mark in this place.

Yelp
great food, great price, good service, and nice late night aesthetic! got the kimchi pasta and it was delicious!

Yelp
Great food, cute place, usually no lines. Love this place and have been here many times after finding it on yelp. Pricing is a little expensive for the drinks, but still a great spot

Yelp
A really fun atmosphere that makes me feel like I've transported to Korea. I enjoy the privacy of the rooms that you get with this one and the ambiance is a big factor in coming here for me. The food is really good too! i enjoy the egg that you get in the beginning.
google avatar

Yelp
Hailey will take good care of you - she's such a sweetheart. I think there was a Sean that kindly served us as well. Visited on a Thursday night and this restaurant bar wasn't too packed, but was robust enough to feel welcoming. There's trees inside with the Christmas lights wrapped around it to add to the charm, without adding to the cost of the bill (like the trendy places with ambiance). Location reminds me of Korea in terms of traditional Korean bars.
google avatar

Paty Y.

Yelp
Food was excellent. True Korean street food pub. Great service just know it gets crowded later in the evening. Ambiance reminded me of a pub in South Korea. Great place to enjoy great food along with a variety of soju among friends. Highly recommend!

Chaille K.

Yelp
GO POCHA! Where you may start or end your night in Ktown. Food and service is A -1! Top of the tier! The place does get packed but the wait is worth it. Parking is usually not an issue. Most people Uber or cab it - Smart! Ye Seul and all of the servers are egging great! Even the group of people who come in here are friendly. It's just a fun sujip environment.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
Came here yesterday and it was ok. Outdoor seating in the parking lot. Ordered sausage stir fry and seafood crispy rice soup. The sausage didnt taste fresh. The soup was salty. The soju and beer wasnt as cold as the weather. Place gets full by around 9:30p. Thats it. Parking was plenty and free so thats a plus
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
Delicious food...great service! Love the decoration. A little difficult to park...but it is worth it. The best are the tin cups that keeps the beer cold for long time. Can you tell me where to get those cups?! Looking forward to go there again.

Yelp
This place is aight. Used to come here all the time to eat the manyeochicken, it was chicken wings fries and shrimp in a boiling crab type sauce but unfortunately they didn't offer it anymore. Bummed af. Anyways I still love how they set you up with the complimentary egg at first. The tea they offer is also great as well. This time around we ordered corn cheese, kimchi pasta and the surf n turf. They portions were pretty big but nothing really stood out taste wise. The kimchi pasta was the best thing we got there. The corn cheese had literally way too much cheese for anyone's liking and the surf n turf was pretty whatever honestly. The pictures looked bomb but we didn't even get close to finishing it. I'm sure the MSG was heavy in it. The service is fine here as well and the decor inside is pretty sick. Would come to drink and kick it. They used to have a sick special deals with meal + soju or a gang of soju+ beer but I'm sure if they had it anymore. My one thought after leaving: New menu sucks, no wonder there was like 3 parties here on a Friday night lol. Used to be packed
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
I always come here late at night with friends it is on point every time. The ambiance, service, and food keep us coming back! We always order the army stew, popcorn chicken, and corn cheese. Every dish we have tried are delicious! The service is very fast and welcoming. This is a great spot if you want a fun vibe with food and drinks. There is also free lot parking.

Yelp
Korean hofs are like my everyday backyard back when I was living in LA. Any chance I get to return to one of these dive bars, I am always a YES PLEASE and Go go Go Pocha we go. I gathered up a group of friends for a reunion and came here for Korean bar food, drinks, and a good time. We made a reservation a day in advance so we were able to claim three tables for ourselves. Although we almost love one of them due to some friends being late, but they were so nice in accommodating us when we assured the management that they were on their way. We ordered rounds and rounds of food and everything came in large portions. The chicken gizzards were great, cheese corn was sizzling hot and yummy, and their spicy pork and cheese was a surprising kick! There honestly wasn't anything we didn't like from the food menu. Because we had been around for a few hours (and a couple more rounds of Hite than usual in), the management offered a free service item on the house. While it took us two different attempts to get the seafood pancake we ordered, we were flattered by the gesture. I'm sure they wanted us to keep ordering drinks but we were already full of beer. At the end of the night, three hours later and rounds of booze and bar food, it only turned out to be less than $20 a person for a table of 15. You can definitely have large parties and go all out for a reasonable price here even when it's not happy hour. For that, I salute you Go Pocha and can't wait to come back in the future.

kelly m.

Yelp
OMG the kimchi pancake was amazing and much bigger than I expected. Everything we ordered was so delicious, but I'm going to be dreaming about the kimchi pancake. The walls are graffitied but it only adds to the vibe. I don't live in LA but I might be making the drive out again soon just to go here.

Yelp
I came here with a friend on a Thursday evening around 7pm, and it wasn't too busy. The service is very quick, and the staff is very attentive. Before you order, they serve you complimentary fried egg as an appetizer. My party and I ordered the Surf n' Turf because that's what I saw other tables eating when I walked in. It sits just over $30 but can easily feed at least 3 people because it comes with copious amounts of spicy stir fried seafood and pork as well as rice and more eggs. Only note is that the pork was slightly too salty for my taste. We also ordered the fish cake soup, which was very clean tasting, flavorful, and the perfect break from the richer Surf n' Turf platter.
google avatar

Yelp
Zero stars. Food is really bad, over cooked and servers don't listen to food requests. Servers don't wait on you, you have to call them over if you need anything. Food is too hot too eat
google avatar

Cece L.

Yelp
6/26/2020 - Go Pocha is open and not a lot of people for a Friday night. Only saw 5 groups of people during my dine in today. They gave us huge watermelon sprinkled with misugaru on the house which was yum. I'm going to start eating my watermelons with mitsugaru! Their menu was a qr code which I thought was neat. FYI no valet in sight when I got to this place and there was plenty of empty spaces in the lot.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
The moment I saw that they cook this egg appetizer on a SIZZLING HOT PLATE, AT YOUR TABLE, as a free "service", I knew this place was IT. The food always hits. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. And the service is next level. They will NEVER let a dirty napkin sit at your table longer than 5 minutes. But not only that, all the servers and hostess are always so friendly. I always end up taking shots with my server cause I like them that much lol. I almost don't want to leave a review because this spot is still fairly hidden from the mainstream crowds...

Yelp
We came here for a friend's birthday and it was so much fun!! It reminds me of a place back home with great foods to share and great for large groups. We ordered a ton of food and honestly it reminded me of some of my favorite dishes! I wish I had more time to go through the menu to see what else they offered, but my friends who have been here before ordered all the good stuff!! I will definitely be back here if I'm in town!
