The Twin Cities’ Best Korean Restaurants

"Newly opened in 2024 along Highway 13, GoGi Korean BBQ is the place for Korean barbecue and hot pot. Each party shares a tabletop grill, and all barbecue combos come with complimentary banchan, lettuce, and ssamjang, and a choice of soup or gyeran jjim. The latter is by far the most popular pick with stoneware bowls of the sunny, custardy steamed egg visible on most tables during dinner. Combination meals are reasonably priced with an assortment of beef and pork cuts. Diners also have the option of adding barbecue specialty items like jjuggumi  (baby octopus marinated in a bright spicy sauce) or jumulleok (beef tenderloin seasoned with earthy truffle salt, sesame oil, and mirin)." - Julie Yu

We had the combo 1 and we could do without the pork belly. It was mainly fat. We also had the steam eggs which was complimentary with the combo. It was so so. But saved myself for the amazing Spicy wings and rice cakes / fish cake appetizer. The two other meat on the combo were beef and pork and seasoned really well. I believe white rice was an extra charge but it’s definitely needed. Our sever was kind and helped cooked our first meat and came back to check on the meat. The second meat he started it and told us roughly how long to cook. Each time you get a new “grill top” so let your server know when you’re ready for the next meat!

Google
This is my 4th time here and food is good as always. Really good quality meat and appetizers. We tried the fried mushroom fries, they were so yummy! Our server Nancy is absolutely amazing! Ask for her if you come. She’s a sweetheart! Highly recommend!

Google
Amazing first experience at GOGI Korean BBQ! We decided to try something new and it didn't disappoint. The best thing was just asking our waiter what he recommended and how to cook and eat things-he was very helpful and we had a fantastic time.

Google
Great food and some of the best kimchi I’ve ever had. The dolsot bibimbap was excellent and we loved the variety of side dishes. Order the spicy wings, they’re amazing.

Google
Wow - incredible experience! I’ve been to Korea many times and this was better than my experience there. Friendly staff, great food, great prices. Try the wings and mushroom tempura truffle fries!

Bao Vang

Google
One of the best Korean BBQ spots I’ve gone to. It’s not AYCE and a bit on the expensive side in my opinion but the portions, quality, and variety of dishes is worth it! Not to mention the super friendly service and side dishes, A+++!!! Definitely will come again

Google
Service was awesome and staff helped with grilling and banchan refills. Meats were good especially loved the black pig pork belly. Banchans were tasty. Pricing was reasonable, about 140 for large combo 1 4-5 people. Would definitely come back.

Google
I was so excited when I heard a Korean BBQ place was coming. I made a reservation just in case it was busy. We got seated right away, and our server was very nice. We got option 1 BBQ, and it was a lot of food for 2 people. We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
very good place!!! The food was incredible and our server was really good and polite. It was our first time ever visiting a Korean bbq and it was definitely worth it, we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
A few friends and I were looking for a good spot to hit before planning our trip to Japan this fall. GoGi although a Korean BBQ joint, seemed like a great option as it's fairly new and we love KBBQ joints. The server was amazing, she helped us cook our meat, was quick with drinks and recommendations as well. We started with the calamari tempura and the GoGi dry rub wings. These were both delicious, the calamari was crispy and flaky on the outside and juicy on the inside. The dry rub wings were spicy and cooked to perfection. The platter of meat was delectable, with meats ranging from beef short rib to marinated pork and pork belly. We were drowning in the umami tsunami all night. Our waitress actually helped us cook and cut the meat unlike other KBBQ spots. Overall I was incredibly satisfied and would go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
I got the Chicken Dolsot Bibimbap (4/5), which was pretty good! The rice along the bottom was nice and crunchy. However, there was not too much chicken in it. With your meal, you also get a lot of different mini sides for free, such as kimchi. The service was quick and good (4/5); our waiter was very friendly and helpful! The interior of the restaurant is very clean and nice (4/5).

Yelp
The dining area was pretty clean. Our server is an MVP! She helped us grill our food and was a total pro. Tried the samgyeopsal (pork belly) and a beef cut that's not even on the menu yet -- both were solid. Side dishes? Flavorful and were refill-worthy. It's not California-level Korean BBQ, but it's easily one of the best Asian spots we've tried in the state so far. Come hungry, leave smelling like BBQ.

Yelp
I really enjoy Korean BBQ and had high hopes but this kind of fell flat. I ordered 1/2 servings of Dak Bulgogi and LA Galbi, a chicken dish. The Bulgogi was good but under sauced. The beef was tender and the flavor good, I would have liked more sauce. The Galbi was ok. The chicken thighs were nicely cooked but lacking in flavor -- any flavor. A little Hoisin helped so I could finish it. Both dishes came with a big scoop of sticky rice and some odd little box of four things, I have no idea what they were. The scoop looked like mashed potatoes and kind of tasted like it. It was cold and had some flecks in it. One little thing was spicy onions, another marinated squash, and I haven't a clue what the thing in the bottom right corner was. It reminded me of an Indian restaurant in London where little dishes were brought to our table and when I asked what they were he replied, "Pickle." So maybe it's like that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In any event I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
I will preface this review by saying that I am Korean and also grew up in Los Angeles / Orange County which has some of the best korean food in the US. Is this place comparable to CA kbbq places? Obviously not but for being in Minneapolis I was pleasantly surprised. Nice restaurant, staff are very attentive, and plenty of parking. I had mixed feelings with the Banchan. Some were spot on in flavor and some tasted a bit watered down. The Deonjang jjigae was also a little watered down and could have used a bit more doenjang. The steamed egg was perfect and portion size was nearly double most other places. We ordered the samgyupsal, chadolbaegi, and jumulleok which all were very good. Portions were large. Dipping sauces were on point. Loved that they gave lettuce and ssamjang. Right now this has quickly moved up to my favorite kbbq spot in the twin cities. Sucks because it is a bit of a drive for me but if you are close by, definitely check them out. This is probably the closest thing to CA level KBBQ spot in MSP area.

Yelp
I recently had my first Korean BBQ experience and I loved every part of it! When we first arrive the staff greeted us promptly and brought our large group to our tables. The decor was very pretty and had a great photo backdrop at the front door. My friends were more familiar with all the food so they did the ordering and I just enjoyed! It was so cool to be able to cook your meat right at the table and we got a lot of laughs out of it cause we were not great with keeping an eye on it so the staff was really good at keeping an eye on us! Cause we def needed it! All the food was so good and I will def come back! This is a great space for date night or even with the family!

Nancy our server was absolutely amazing. Explaining how to order, making suggestions and checking in with us!! We had the short ribs, beef and chicken dishes. Absolutely amazing and we ordered wayyyyy tooo much ! Amazing ! Very clean and well maintained.

Yelp
Made the trek down to Savage to visit a friend and have lunch at Gogi as we were both craving Korean BBQ. We got there a little after 11, their first customers. Sat down and had a look at the menu to order. We ended up choosing the Combo 2 which comes with Galbi, pork bulgogi and brisket and added half an order of pork belly. With the combo order you have the choice of soup or steamed egg. We went with the egg, which was a great choice. Eggs were fluffy and seasoned nicely. As for side dishes, the kimchi was good and the fish cakes, not a fan of the lettuce kimchi as it still and a gritty taste to it. Which they had some more side dish options. Here comes the food! They asked if we needed help grilling, which is nice to ask for those who have not done Korean BBQ before. We said thanks but we got this! They did start it up for us initially with the beef fat to grease the grill and then we were off to eating. Everything was so good, Bulgogi and galbi were marinated well. The sauces provided paired well. I liked dipping into the sesame first and then finish with the wasabi salt. Don't be afraid to ask for more side dishes and I also needed a bit of rice so ordered that, know that's an extra charge. We ended the email with the Bingsu. A bit different version than what I was used to, more ice cream than shaved ice. The shaved ice wasn't as smooth/creamy since the condensed milk was put on top vs. in a way it would mix with the ice. Staff was quick and super nice. I'd come back again if I was in the area.

Yelp
Authentic Korean restaurant food was great. It was fun for us to grill our own meat at the table. Food was solid. Service was exemplary. Ambience was very cool.

Yelp
Cute place inside! They have a lot of options on their menu, they have something for everyone. Everything we had was really good! We started with the fried dumplings, very delicious. We got a couple main dishes, and some of the bbq options. The kimchi fried rice was amazing! I would come back for this alone. Other dishes we got were the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken katsu. Everyone loved their meals. For the bbq at the table, we got the spicy chicken and the bbq beef, both were great! It was fun to have them cook it at the table for you. I got some green tea ice cream for dessert and it was perfect! We had such a great time here, can't wait to come back and try more of their things!

Yelp
Being that it is located in Savage is nice. Savage needs more Korean bbq places or restaurant. It is not the best, but it is okay for being far out in the suburb. The portion of the combo was alright. I think it is pretty pricy for the portion. The sides were alright as well. The kimchi is water down a lot, but the other sides were good. I was kind of disappointed in the octopus and pork belly dish because it didn't have a lot of octopus or pork belly. It is too expensive for a portion that small. The egg dish was good, it was salted well not too salty like other places. The tuna kimbap was good as always, just always a lot of rice. The dessert was a hit for my friends. It was so good they had to make it at home. The services were good, the server actually cook our food to start with. The ambiance was good, it had a lot of family that came to the restaurant.

Taylor M.

Yelp
This place was great. Good quality cuts. It's not an AYCE which is the more common go to for KBBQ so keep that in mind but for the quality, service and ambiance/seating it was worth it! The kimchi was actually fantastic sometimes i don't care for the kimchi when eating out but this had a good balance and was just tangy enough. All the banchans were delicious. I would ask that they get a different brand makgeolli though the one we had wasn't my fav for some reason or maybe I'm partial to the plastic bottle old school one (should have stuck to soju-LOL) loved it thanks!!

Yelp
Drove 45 minutes to try and they did not disappoint! Everything was good however I would not recommend ordering brisket or tongue. It's very very tough and chewy but everything else was great!
google avatar

Malinda V.

Yelp
Usually for places like Korean bbq, the ones in the metro will always be superior to the Suburban areas. And the suburbs wouldn't have anything like this so I was excited to try! We went mid week, Wednesday evening for dinner. It was dead. But it was very spacious and clean. I'm sure it wasn't busy because it was a Wednesday and I've seen them packed on weekends. After we got seated... 2 other couples and a group came in. This place is not an all you can eat KBBQ. It's ala carte but there are combos on the menu. I liked everything they offered. The downside of just going in with two people is that obviously we can't eat much. And we can't order a variety. But what we ordered, it was the perfect portion and delicious! I can't wait to go back with family and or a bigger group next time to try more things! Half of the banchan (Korean side dishes) that are complimentary were yummy and fresh. The rest seem old and we did see a few wilted sides! I was scared that would make me sick. None the less, we'll be back with friends and family to have kbbq night.

Yelp
I will be going back to this place. The fried rice was good. The Korean barbecue was good. The service was good. The environment was dope. Now it was expensive more than I thought it would be, but I definitely appreciate it the quality of food and meat that they had.

Yelp
We arrived for a late night dinner and were greeted promptly and warmly. The restaurant was immaculately clean with two big screens showing various cooking shows as we walked in. For a late night dinner the restaurant had other patrons which was a good sign given that it's such a new enterprise. Our server was incredibly attentive and warmly welcoming (ask for Chanel) and kept our drinks topped and our bonchon flowing without us even having to ask. We ordered the combo number two and found it was plenty of food for three people- in fact, we had plenty of leftovers! The food arrived promptly, and the grill was at a perfect temperature to cook evenly and regularly for quite a long time before it got the typical coating from use. I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to cook our meat so evenly for so long without needing to be changed. I imagine they are various qualities of girls and Gogi had good ones! The combo comes with the choice of soup for the table and we got the egg soup which is as beautiful egg puff soufflé that was delicious. Chanel allowed us to change out the pork option in the combo which was really nice and so we got beef bulgogi instead of the pork bulgogi. We also got a side of dry rub chicken wings, which were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. A little bit more seasoning would've been nice but overall an 8 out of 10. Heads up that their grand opening is next week and there are a ton of prizes and discounts that are worth taking advantage of. Hit up their social media for more info. I highly recommend this welcoming and delicious experience.

Yelp
I am glad one opened nearby because they have good prices and their combo deals definitely save money. Everything we ate was delicious. Our waiter was incredibly kind and enjoyable. The next time we go, I would come on a weekday because Ambiance was busy on a Friday night, but we did not have to wait long. Excellent experience all around. I will return time and time again.

Yelp
Went back to try more items. More pictures for your eyes to judge. Solid but nothing to wow me. The steamed eggs were definitely more eggy suggesting there's more eggs than broth.
google avatar

Tippy P.

Yelp
I met up with a friend for dinner. After spending time to figure out what's good nearby we went to try out the new korean bbq restaurant. This restaurant is ala carte, there's even an attendant that will cook for you. They also offer appetizers, entrees, and hot pot. We ordered the combo meat mixture for the korean bbq. They will bring out the side dishes, lettuce, and 3 sauces. Restaurant is a good size, has about 20 tables. Full bar and big parking lot in the front. Our server was attentive and helpful. Would recommend to check this place out.

Yelp
I saw this place had a soft opening last week. Wanted to try a new small owned business. These guys are great my server David when I asked what you recommended gave me a couple different options from a stone bowl of bin bap to a half order of pork belly and beef short rib. The Bonchon that you get which is sides is awesome. Very flavorful and spicy. They cook it right at table side to your liking smells great food. It was very hot and tasteful if you've been looking for a new Korean barbecue place in South Metro stop in ask for David.

Yelp
We have been looking for a good Korean bbq spot in the twin cities and have tried a few but this is hands down the best! The ambiance is also very appealing. Very modern and welcoming! The service was amazing. Our server was very sweet and people were constantly coming over to help us with bbq! I don't mind do it yourself kbbq but I definitely prefer help from there servers which we got! The got the combo 1 and added on thinly sliced beef brisket and chopchey. All were amazing! I knew the bbq was going to be amazing but was blown away with how good the chopchey was! We can't wait to come back! This will be our new go to spot for sure!

Joan H.

Yelp
You need to order at least 3 half or 1 full and 1 half portions for the KBBQ We've had the beef bulgogi, wang kalbi (which is the recommended dish from the chef), spicy pork bulgogi, and japchae. The food that we ordered all tasted amazing! The banchan (side dish) also tasted great! The server was super nice and the food comes out fast. They change the grill plate when it started to have burn. Great experience and will definitely come back again! Another thing that worth mentioning is that they have exhaust on the side of the grill to suck all the smoke. I was leaving my coat in the car as I dont want it to stink after the meal but was very pleasantly surprise to find that none of my clothes or hair has any smoky smell
google avatar

Rose May V.

Yelp
It was my first time at Gogi and we went on lunchtime,it was quiet not much people yet since it was a Thursday work day.We ordered spicy wings and half order of Wang Galbi for two people. The meat was seasoned perfectly and they have good sides to go with it.The service was good knowing it wasnt packed at all I will definately come back to tey more dishes!

Yelp
The best Korean Restaurant in town. Service was amazing!! EXCELLENT!! Ask what their popular dishes/meat are and they will help you if you are not familiar with Korean food.

FoCo Fork C.

Yelp
The food is ok, the meat is has a lot of gristle . It tastes alright but I've had better.
google avatar

Meow W.

Yelp
This place is new and clean. They did give us a lot of food. However the quality of meat is not good. The meats were very tough and hard. They should invest in better quality beef.
google avatar

Quinn T.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I love the beef tongue and kimchi, my husband love the yeomso jeongol (goat hot pot). Service was excellent too. Love to come here
google avatar

Carrie N.

Yelp
I visited with a friend for lunch on Saturday, and as always, the service was very friendly and all the dishes were delicious. I hope the place continues to thrive!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service, our waiter helped us cook our meal as it was our first Korean bbq experience. Only wish they had a bar to order cocktails.
google avatar

Koreena E.

Yelp
Very very tasty and AUTHENTIC! I have a Korean parent- so I know when it's made traditionally. I highly recommend for an individual, intimate, or group (soooo cool for a group to experience an actual K-BBQ!!) I plan to order a couple kimbap and mondus to go & share with my coworkers soon!
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Really a phenomenal place. Love the combo deals for Korean bbq and the cold noodles! Great happy hour as well!

Saundra S.

Yelp
Yes. Good Korean food. Had all the right flavors. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. Typical KBBQ place, so thought we were going to come out smelling like meat, but they have pretty good ventilation and high ceilings to help with the smoke and smell.
google avatar

Kathy T.

Yelp
The food here are so delicious, from the meat to the side dishes, nothing disappoints! Super amazing and friendly staff! The atmosphere inside is great 100/10

Yelp
On November 17th, my family and I dined at Gogi and subsequently experienced severe illness. We initially attributed our symptoms to other causes, however, after seeking medical attention at the ER and urgent care, we were diagnosed with food poisoning. We promptly contacted the restaurant to inform them of the incident and the significant impact it had on our family, including the cancellation of a planned vacation we couldn't make because we were all so sick. Despite repeated attempts to communicate, including requests for a phone conversation, the restaurant's response was delayed and lacked urgency. Communication primarily occurred via email, and the restaurant insisted on receiving medical records from every affected family member, despite providing sufficient documentation to support our claim. Furthermore, the restaurant denied any responsibility for our food poisoning, attributing it to an another restaurant . Our request for a refund of the $500 meal was also denied and we were told we received food poisoning from somewhere else! Based on this experience, I strongly advise against dining at Gogi. The level of service we encountered was unacceptable, demonstrating a complete disregard for customer well-being and a lack of professionalism in addressing our concerns for a refund, they did try to offer a $100 credit... WHY would I want to return to a place that got me sick? They're also extremely overpriced and the quality of the food is not up to par, ANYONE who eats Korean BBQ can tell that this food could be ALOT better for the PRICING.
google avatar

Luz A.

Yelp
Lucas gave us such great service! My family and I don't know how to grill and we were a little scared as weve had a bad experience before at another KBBQ place but Lucas reassured us and made it a great experience. My family even ventured to try all the side dishes. The food tasted amazing! Definitely one of the best I had (the best being in Chicago), best in MN for sure! Were a family of 4 and had combo 2 (LA galbi, dwaeji bulgogi, chadol baegi) and the steamed egg additionally w/a half of samgyeopsal, rice for each + mandu & shrimp tempura, we definitely had left overs that we took home and everyone was satisfied. Will definitely be back! And highly recommend.

Colleen C.

Yelp
The food was perfect. The woman who attending to us was very kind, professional, and attentive. She changed out our grill grate keeping the food fresh and delicious. There was quite a vvariety of formated and pickled accourtment. Being here for the first time, we didn't realize how plentiful the steamed egg was. Beautiful place, authentic, and delicious. Can't wait to try their ther non-bbq items!! But this was quite a generous meal.

Jon C.

Yelp
Great food and service. Authentic place to enjoy. Went for our anniversary and it was the perfect setting.

Azarria H.

Yelp
Nancy and other staff members were very nice and helpful. They were accommodating and respectful.

Erik D.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Thanks for a fun and adventurous lunch out! I wish I lived closer so we could try more things off the menu! Very pleasant inside, highly recommend!
google avatar

Will H.

Yelp
Honestly was on par or better than KBBQ we had in Chicago. We got the Wang Galbi and LA Galbi, highly recommend both. Great service even though it was super busy, server checked in often to refill side dishes. Will definitely be back!

Sue L.

Yelp
Service was wonderful but if you have a large group you may want to go somewhere else. We had a group of 10 and though we were together it was hard to have a full on conversation because the seating had a divider in the middle.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Had lunch here today. Our party of four got a combo and two sides (combo 2, chopche, and Gogi fried rice). Everything was amazing, service was fantastic, and we took home as much food as we ate. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes!
