The LA (Takeout) Dinner & A Movie Guide - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"“Nothing moves me to instant, body-wracking tears quite like seeing a mother/daughter relationship on screen. And while there are plenty of reasons why that might be, this is neither the time, nor place to unpack that (it’s Tuesdays at 7pm). So let’s just stick to Miss Juneteenth. Part coming-of-age story, half slice-of-life drama, this tender film explores the intersections of motherhood, poverty, and the all-too-real “This is your dream, not mine” movie trope. Plus, the lead character works in a BBQ restaurant, so in addition to becoming painfully aware of how long it’s been since you’ve talked to your mom, you’ll also be pretty hungry. Place an order at Gold Land and get The Rambler - this giant sampler of house-smoked tri-tip, roasted chicken, sliced linguica, and Southern sides is so hearty and comforting, it’s essentially the food version of a maternal embrace. Oh, and call your mom back.” -KH" - brant cox, kat hong, brett keating, james montgomery

We stopped here for breakfast during our vacation, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and every staff member, from the servers to the chef, was so attentive and genuinely friendly. You can tell they really care about what they do. And the food… wow. The BBQ was outstanding…and that’s saying something coming from people who used to live in the South! It’s rare to find a place that nails both great food and great energy, but this spot absolutely does. Highly recommend. Also VERY dog friendly.

We stopped by spontaneously on our way to get a coffee next door and glad we did. They just started doing breakfast/brunch. We had the breakfast taco special. Portion was generous enough to share between two. We are looking forward to coming back for breakfast burrito (special on Tues/Thurs). The staff, especially Charlie, was super welcoming and helpful.

Amazing service and incredible food! I love BBQ and it’s good to have a solid option in downtown SLO. I got the Brisket salad and it was fantastic and fresh! Can’t wait to go back for the Brisket sandwich!

I’m so terrible with names but I believe I met a man named Charlie—absolutely incredible service, was so informational about the opening of this spot and the breakfast menu (which I NEED to try now). Plenty of seating, both inside and outside. I feel a bit sad about the food. Taste was good but I had asked for the mac and cheese on the side, I’ve seen the photo of their mac their IG/site, yelp photos, and through here but was given a very standard looking yellow mac n cheese. Yeah, it’s not that serious but also it kind of is when it comes to bbq. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich but it was already slathered with the bbq sauce inside (and still seemed a little dry) and tasted just a bit too sweet. Again, maybe my fault for comparing it to the photos I had seen of the specific order I wanted online. The potato salad is GREAT, highly recommend with your order. I’d come back again tho, very interested in that breakfast menu :^) Ps, the banana pudding was FANTASTIC

Best bbq in slo hands down. Went to their new location in the creamery and it was so good. Not too heavy and full of flavor. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. Will be coming back ! Get the brisket breakfast burrito !!!!

Perfect spot to bring the family. They were very accommodating to my picky 5 year old eater and he ended up eating his whole breakfast, which is unheard of. Top notch service. I can't wait to come back for lunch and dinner!

I went to Gold Land BBQ and their food was amazing! The chicken, pork ribs, and pulled pork were all packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The brisket was a bit on the dry side, but everything else was pretty darn good. Definitely worth trying if you’re craving some solid BBQ!

Had the pulled pork breakfast burrito and it was delicios; salsa was simple & light and fresh. This isn't a greasy breakfast burrito - the potatoes are nice and light and the meat is tender but not fatty - it was just what I was looking for. As opposed to other places this is a super clean, new space and the outdoor patio is wonderful with trees and quiet music to relax at. If I lived in town I'd come here every morning; the pulled pork in it was so good.
