While I can't write a review of a specific restaurant called "Golden Bowl" because I don't have access to real-time, local business information or personal dining experiences, I can certainly write a detailed, example review based on the qualities you've described. You can use this as a template or inspiration to write your own! A Hidden Gem of Authentic Chinese Cuisine Golden Bowl is a true neighborhood treasure, a place where the vibrant, authentic flavors of Chinese cooking shine through in every dish. Forget what you think you know about Americanized Chinese food; this is the real deal. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this isn't your average takeout joint. The aroma of spices and simmering sauces fills the air, promising a meal that lives up to the hype. The real magic of Golden Bowl lies in its food. Each dish I've tried has been a masterpiece of flavor and texture, from the perfectly crispy skin of the Peking Duck to the delicate, savory filling of their handmade soup dumplings. A standout dish for me is the mapo tofu—a fiery, numbing, and incredibly satisfying classic that perfectly balances the silken tofu with a rich, spicy sauce. It's a dish that's hard to find done this well outside of China. What truly sets Golden Bowl apart, however, is its incredible flexibility and "secret" offerings. For those in the know, there's a hidden menu of traditional, regional specialties that aren't on the main list. Simply ask your server about their daily specials or what they recommend for a more authentic experience. They're more than happy to guide you. On one visit, I asked for a custom version of a noodle dish with a specific type of vegetable, and they were happy to make the change without any hesitation. This willingness to cater to individual preferences and create bespoke dishes is a testament to the kitchen's skill and dedication to their customers. Golden Bowl isn't just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience. It's a place where you can explore the depths of Chinese cuisine and feel confident that you're getting an authentic, high-quality meal every time. If you're looking for something beyond the typical fare and want to discover a true taste of China, make a point to visit. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Food came out relatively fast. My waitress didn’t tell me til she brought my food out that they were out of fried rice. She gave me steamed rice instead but didn’t ask if I wanted it. It was more so implied that I “get” steamed rice. Other than that, my food was full of flavor. Portion sizes were on the larger side for a 28 year young man. Also got the egg roll. Very delicious and fresh!

I understand that food can be a hit or miss at times if the cook is not on game, but my lemon chicken is so hard I can break a tooth with it. It’s like it’s been sitting in the fryer for a week my pork fried rice taste like fish my orange chicken taste like broccoli and it was broccoli in it. My general chicken has sweet-and-sour sauce on it I’ve been eating here for years. I’ve never had this kind of service, but what they gave me was not general chicken. It was sweet and sour with little bits of pepper in it. I’m sorry to give them a one star in food because I’ve eaten here several times over the years and it’s always been really good. Talk to a manager and we’re just gonna make it better next time give me credit. $83 worth of food that I don’t wanna eat the next day and take on the road with me that’s why I bought so much

Google
I do not understand how this place has anything more than 2 star average. Some places deserve superb ratings. Some places are ok and deserve a rating but it’s not so bad you want leave a review lower than their average-so you just don’t. Then there’s places like…. Here. When the waitress set our food on the table I wanted to ask her if it was a joke. The sweet and sour pork was $14.95 and had 11 small-average size pieces and when you bite into them find out it’s mostly fried dough. Pork and broccoli was like a soup, and the pork was it came out of a bucket and heated up. Slimy slippery and just gross. The rice was acceptable. And the lo mein was also gross. The food quality was beyond unacceptable. I considered telling them “no, I am not eating that!” But we had already waited a while and the kids were getting restless. I should’ve paid for our soda and left. If the owners decide to give me a refund I’d come back for it and remove my review. Being a small business owner myself I didn’t want to cause a disturbance but I’m pretty grossed out. With tax, what you see here excluding the bowl of fried rice, was $60.73! 7pm ish on 7/25/24. Steer clear. Go to the national chain across town, or to the grocery store deli. This is unacceptable. Unless I was being pranked- still not amused.

Google
I had the fragrant chicken and a small hot and sour soup. The soup was very good. The chicken was a little on the tough side but tasted good. Fast and friendly service at very fair prices.

Google
I've been looking for great Chinese food since we moved to Sioux Falls. Golden Bowl qualifies as good. The sweet and sour pork and egg drop soup were quite good. They were definitely the best I've had in Sioux Falls so far. However, the Mongolian beef, fried rice, and egg rolls were mediocre. Our server was friendly, and it was a quiet and clean place to have lunch. I enjoyed the decor. I felt the price was a bit high for the portions we got. I ended up spending a little over $40 for lunch for two people.

Google
The food was amazing! Hand-made egg rolls. The steak and shrimp sizzle platter is one of the best meals I've had in a very long time.

Olivia Johnson

Google
I didn't look at the menu. I was calling Chinese places around town trying to find some Egg foo young. It's very hard to find. But they had it. I called in my order and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. It tasted great, was cooked perfectly 😋 I will definitely be back 😁

Yelp
Placed a takeout order of 3 apps / soup and 3 entrees. Food was ready on time and there was ample parking. The restaurant employee was prompt and courteous. The food was meh. Dumplings were devoid of much taste. The orange chicken was *very* small pieces of chicken with heavy sauce. The Mongolian beef was bland. They gave us one serving of rice which didn't last across the entrees. They don't mark which dish was which - so we had to open up each container and guess. The place was very busy so I know some people love it.
google avatar

Yelp
They offer actual Sichuan-style Kung Pao chicken, though it's on the menu as Princess chicken. The proper blend of scallions, chili peppers, and peanuts is a taste delight you won't forget. The spicy sour soup is delightful as well. They still offer actual hot mustard as well, seems some places are going away from it for some reason. I recommend asking extra spicy for the true experience vs the standard South Dakota spicy.

Gary G.

Yelp
Food was served hot and prompt. Thought the portion could be a bit larger. One of the better Chinese restaurants in town.

Myat H.

Yelp
We ordered take out from this restaurant after a late night at work and let me say this was a sleeper hit! We got some lo mein, princess chicken, beef with broccoli and friend chicken wings. All the food was good, the chicken wings though, were incredible, best wings I've had in Sioux Falls! Definitely a place to revisit time and again!

Lyle G.

Yelp
Good Chinese, consistent for years. We like Pot Stickers, Kung Pow Chicken, Hunan Pork, sizzling chicken and rice soup
google avatar

Mandy S.

Yelp
I got a few items here and none of them were good all the food tasted nasty. None of us liked our food. We received some old fortune cookies that when i took the first bite i could tell its been sitting there for a while. Save your money and go to a different place to eat
google avatar

Ellee S.

Yelp
Food is always consistently good whether you eat in or order take out. The stag is top notch friendly and treat you more like friends than just patrons. I love this place.
google avatar

Fred S.

Yelp
Wow it has been years since we had excellent Asian food. We had the crab Rangoon's, pot stickers, egg roll, and egg foo young. This will definitely be our go to when we visit Sioux Falls!!
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
My first time attempting to eat their food was tonight and it is so horrible I'm taking it back in the morning and I want my money back. It is a disgrace to even call this Chinese food.
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
I ordered black pepper chicken, there was about an ounce of chicken in there, the rest was huge pieces of onion with a little celery and carrots. Half the box was just sauce, it felt like a water balloon. It didn't even taste very good. What an AWFUL value. I'd go elsewhere.

Tim O.

Yelp
So far, this is one of the better Chinese places I've tried in Sioux Falls. The sesame chicken is one of the better ones I've had, and they have better Lo Mein than Panda Express
google avatar

Cole S.

Yelp
We were driving threw Sioux Falls and we were all craving Chinese food.. I looked at yelp and Golden bowl stood out to me, so we tried it out and very happy we did!! We had a variety of different menu items and had no problems at all!!

Yelp
We are regular customers who received the most abhorrent customer service from a snotty kid who was seating customers and working the register. My father in law who is 89 years old asked that our party of 4 be sat at a table which was closer to the door. The table had 4 chairs around it. The kid said NO we could not sit there as the table was being saved for a "larger" party. We noted to him that there were only 4 chairs around the table. He said that they would add more chairs if needed. During our meal a party of 2 was sat at the same table reserved for a "larger" party. As my father in law went to pay the bill at the end of the meal he brought this to the attention of the kid who originally sat us. I didn't hear everything but stepped in as I noticed the kid cashier arguing with my 89 year old father in law. I asked him if "this" is how he treats customers. He said that my father in law blamed him for something and that he needed to "defend" himself. Actually, an apology was all that was needed to diffuse the situation. I asked the kid if he was familiar with the concept "the customer is always right" and "is this the way you treat customers". He told replied "times are changing ma'am". He continued to debate my father in law and said that he was "trained this way" I couldn't resist asking him "to be rude to customers?" I asked for the owner and he said "she will stand behind me". What a shame. This kid's attitude was repugnant and the Golden Bowl just lost very loyal customers. Don't go there if you want to be treated with respect.

Yelp
I called you get my food ordered delivered as per Yelp. To my dismay I was told they don't deliver and the lady answering the phone was less concerned about the loss of business. I told her on Yelp that they say they deliver but the don't deliver. It was also disappointing that the person on the phone was unable to communicate effectively.

Yelp
I just ordered from this place and spent $46.00 on 4 items. I'm from NYC and for this amount I could feed 20 people. This barely fed my husband, myself, and my 2 year old daughter. The best spot in NYC, Wo Hop, isn't even this expensive and people travel from around the world to eat there. This place cannot compete in any way shape or form with Wo Hop, it's far inferior. This is definitely a perfect example of ripping people off. I'm so sorry that the citizens of Sioux Falls, this great city that I have grown to love, is being ripped off like this. I will not go back here, at least until they stop ripping us off and lower their prices. It's disgraceful.

Yelp
Seeking refuge from a classic Midwest snowstorm, Golden Bowl proved to be the ideal refuge! Golden Bowl provided a warm haven full of delightful food. The establishment had an authentic Chinese feel that helped contributed to the dining experience. After an extent wait, food was ordered, appetizers served, and the meal enjoyed! After eating at a number of other Chinese restaurants in Sioux Falls, it is easy to say this is the best in the Sioux Empire. My only complaint would be in regard to understaffing, but even then it was a golden time!
google avatar

Stefan J.

Yelp
Taking into account that we're in South Dakota, it's okay. The food was cooked pretty sloppy. Which is saying something for takeout Chinese.

Mark W.

Yelp
The fried rice was dry and burned. The sweet and sour chicken was cold. Also, they must of had a extreme price increase because for two people and no alcohol the bill was over $55 and then they put on receipt how much to tip.

Michelle N.

Yelp
We will be back!! An intense fried rice craving led us to a gem right around the corner. I had the sweet and sour shrimp while my boyfriend had Hunaan pork and spicy sour soup - we shared crab rangoons. Every single bite made my mouth sing. The wait staff showed us the perfect amount of attention (no hovering). Highly recommend
google avatar

Terri H.

Yelp
We have been going here for years, very good, very consistent. Would recommend this to anyone! Great!! Great to dine in or carryout.

Karla H.

Yelp
Ordered crab Rangoon's which were good. The rest of the food was bland and tasteless. Ordered general chicken. The pieces were as hard as a rock and the sauce was bland, not remotely spicy. Would not go again.
google avatar

Alyice E.

Yelp
The egg rolls are the best in all of Sioux Falls! There are days when I will order 5 egg rolls and a cup of soup as a meal because I'm craving them so much! They also make a mean Lo Mein, though I do sometimes wish they would add just a little more vegetables to their dish. The staff is nice, the place is always clean, and the food is delicious.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
Absolute best Chinese food in town. Dine in and carry out are both great. I've had the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, veggie lo mein, egg rolls, crab Rangoon. Everything is hot and fresh and the service is so fast!! We will never get Chinese anywhere else in town. I highly recommend Golden Bowl!
google avatar

Olivia E.

Yelp
Pretty good food. The wonton soup was really good. Crab Rangoon was good but mostly a cream cheese wonton--not much crab if any. I had the beef lo mein no veggies and it was really good. Fried rice was the biggest disappointment. Tasted stale and had no flavor. If the rice had been good I would have given 5 stars.

Yelp
If this is the "best" Chinese food in Sioux Falls then I'm going to be hating life. We ordered take out last night which went smoothly once I got through. I had to call back several times because I kept getting a busy signal. No biggie. Finally got through and ordered Sesame Chicken with fried rice Mongolian beef with steamed rice, two egg rolls, and fried wontons. The man said fifteen minutes...perfect. When I walked in the door my food was waiting. The man was friendly and prompt, we made the transaction and I left with my food. The restaurant was buzzing with about an 80% full dining room. It seemed really nice. Anyway, I got home several minutes later, and was really looking forward to the best Chinese food. It was packaged well, and nice and hot, and it looked really good. That is where it turned. Let me say that this was our first time eating at the Golden Bowl and we really wanted it to be great. We have lived all over the United States and have eaten some awesome Chinese food and have been looking for something good here, but this was not it. Like I was saying, it looked great but was not very tasty. The sweet and sour that came with the wontons was like a sour red fluid not at all sweet. The wontons were merely deep fried wonton wrappers without the cream cheese we expected like every other Chinese restaurant where we have ever been. The Sesame chicken was basically dough without much chicken in a tart sauce, it was really disappointing. The rice was flavorless and overcooked. The egg rolls were overcooked and it looked like the oil in which it was cooked was old because they were very dark and greasy. The Mongolian beef was flavorless, as well, but was the high point of the meal. There weren't many veggies in it and it was merely beef in a thin, bland brown sauce. We threw away the leftovers. We didn't have seconds. The portions were small for the $36 we spent, but it didn't matter. This was very basic steam table fare that was filling, but not savory and delicious. This was the kind of food you'd get in a bad soup kitchen. We won't be going back. It makes me sad to write this review. If you're from South Dakota this bland food may appeal to you, I don't know. However, if you've eaten decent Chinese food anywhere else you will be greatly disappointed. I'm giving one star because it was easy to order on the phone once I got through and was ready as promised when I got there. The food was bland, way overpriced, and the portions small.

Yelp
This place never let's me down. I always get their egg drop soups for starters. Crab ragoons and chicken fried rice. I'm sure their other stuff is tasty but I always have left overs and the atmosphere is peaceful. Yumm
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Definitely my go-to restaurant in Sioux Falls. I've never had anything bad here. I usually stick to the fried rice, the fried wantons, and the egg fu yungs. Dining-in is great and take-out is hassle-free.
google avatar

Tracy M.

Yelp
Endearing multi-generational family establishment, delicious food, and fun, authentic dining atmosphere. Hen hao!
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
The food is really good so far had the Ta Chin Chicken and the General Chicken. Both listed as hot but not overpowering. Won ton soup and Hot and sour are both good enough to come back for by them selves. First time service was a little slow but the place was packed. Second time service was timed perfect. Soup done appetizer showed up. Appetizers done main course was served. Waitress was very friendly

Crystal P.

Yelp
Got take-out to go back to our hotel with. Pepper steak was very good, chicken lo mein noodles were overcooked but flavor was good. Crab rangoon was great, not as sweet as some in our hometown. The best thing was that the food was served up very hot, was still hot by the time I got back to the hotel. Then we had to change rooms before we could eat, and the food remained hot the entire time.

Michele P.

Yelp
Our son & daughter-in-law picked up takeout for themselves, my husband and me, and her parents last night. The food was still piping hot after their drive across town with it. I had wonton soup and Szechwan (not sure how to spell it) chicken that was good and plentiful. My husband had the duck with mushrooms that he said was wonderful. Also each of us had an egg roll that was crunchy outside and steaming inside. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a wide variety of Chinese food.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This place used to be so good. It still is good, but not SO good. We came here a few weeks ago and our service was really nice. I love how open the place is. The tables aren't crammed into the room like a lot of other restaurants. They also have this neat little gift area. The reason for the 4 stars is because our rice was pretty dry, like it had been made 4 hours ago, and my orange chicken was tough... like it had been made 1 hour ago. I'll try this place again, but it'll probably be take-out.

Dawn D.

Yelp
First time in Sioux Falls and decided to try Golden bowl off of Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. Beef Lo mein and Szechuan beef were delicious. Prices were a little on the higher side and the Szechuan beef container was only about 75% full, but the food was so good it only bothered me because I wish I had more of the sauce to pour over my rice! We ordered to go, the guy at the front was very nice, made small talk and when he realized we were staying in a hotel he filled our bag with forks and plates. Will definitely stop again if we are ever in Sioux Falls!
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
My wife and I have had GB before and it hasn't been too bad. This is usually our go to place if we are craving Chinese. However, I ordered take out for us and the princess and sesame chicken were very bland. My wife's sesame was a completely different sauce than before. The crab ragoon was good, but everything else was not satisfying. Not too sure if we will be going back anytime soon.
google avatar

Ye Khaung O.

Yelp
Customer service is ok unless you are served by the owner. Food is terrible compared to Hibachi. I come from Asia so yes I miss Asian food but this is not a place that I would go no matter how much I miss Asian food. The food is Americanized.
google avatar

Scott P.

Yelp
This is located in the old KSOO radio station. Be sure to try the Wayne Pritchard Pot Stickers, or the General Knobe chicken!
google avatar

Nikki A.

Yelp
Sioux Falls LACKS Chinese food. The Golden Bowl is probably the best Chinese food in Sioux Falls. The atmosphere is typical to the type, the pricing is decent and the food is not bad and the portions could be larger.

Thom S.

Yelp
Probably the best Chinese restaurant in SF! The service is excellent and the food is better. Of special note is the Chicken Sizzling Rice Soup, serving size is for 2 with a little extra. Eggs rolls and crab Rangoon are very good. Pot stickers take a few minute to get, but are well worth the wait. We are slowly working our way through the menu. My favorite meal to date is the Egg Foo Young. In any protein or combination. My wife favorite is the Happy Family.
google avatar

Char L.

Yelp
Ok I never have written a food review, nothing has been like WOW I need to get online and write this place a review. Well this place is that WOW. I moved here from NY and I have had a lot of delicious chinese food, but nothing compares to how AMAZING their food is here. Everything my boyfriend and I have had here is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Seriously best Chinese food I have ever had in my life. Actually some of the best food I have had. I will never be able to eat anywhere else for chinese food. Seriously you have not had chinese food until you have eaten here. Do yourself a favor and eat here as soon as possible.
google avatar

Cece B.

Yelp
I had the crispy fish and it was horrible. The fish tasted like fish sticks that were overcooked. This food experience was probably one of the worst I've had. It's strong words but usually I am able to force myself to finish the food even if I'm not keen on it, but I left the food as is to be take away (and I hate wasting food or money). I did, though, enjoy the wonton soup. Not anything homemade but definitely better than what is found at other restaurants.
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
I got a meal for take out and wasn't impressed, the food was ok but expensive. I will have to give it another try based on the good review from others.
google avatar

Becca R.

Yelp
My family has a tradition that we must eat Chinese food every Sunday. Needless to say Golden Bowl is the restaurant that started this tradition it's that good. Almond chicken is my personal favorite

KB J.

Yelp
This is a new favorite place of mine. I am picky about certain dishes, egg rolls and soups and the Golden Bowl has not let me down the times I have been there. I will continue to eat here.

Sara P.

Yelp
Such great food we had the family meal for 3. Sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef and we did pay extra for the braised fish. Wonton and egg drop soups were wonderful. DH's favorite was the egg roll.
google avatar

Sandy F.

Yelp
My food was well prepared and adequately fast. I thought the portion sizes were a tad small for the price but it was tasty so I would go again. Our waitress was attentive and nice. Good experience.
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
After reading several good reviews on this restaurant, I thought I'd give it a try. Disappointed. Ordered the Shrimp Egg Fu Young and the portion was tiny! Normally one large container is filled with the Egg/shrimp mixture (enough for two meals) I opened up my 'to go' bag and was sad to find the container not quite HALF full. A quite small ball of egg/shrimp? was floating in the brown sauce. I will continue to go to China Express on 41st Street for now on. Live and learn.

Thomas W.

Yelp
I usually get the Szechuan Duck as an entree, and it is consistently good. I also get the Spicy and Sour soup, and I'm always happy I did. As far as Chinese restaurants in this town go, this place is very good and I would recommend it.
google avatar

Jada P.

Yelp
First I must say the service is always bad. But other then that the food is great! The only place in town with vegetarian egg rolls.

Carrie T.

Yelp
Completely mislead! We looked up their menu online and all the prices on it were $6 and $7. We placed an order on rhe phone and when we got there all the prices were $10 and $11. When I asked about the price difference they told us the menu online is for a different store. We will never go there again. Dishonest and misleading.
