Golden Castle

These sliders exceeded expectations. We stumbled in here during F1 weekend just looking for a late night meal. The sliders were perfect and I'd absolutely eat here again without hesitation.

If you’ve seen Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, some of you- especially those of you who have tried White Castle- may wonder why someone would go through so much for some sliders. If White Castle tasted anything like Golden Castle’s sliders, I would 100% understand. Golden Castle is amazing. I underwent a trek of my own to try it out and I have zero regrets. I ordered on-site and the wait was about 20 minutes (of course they take online orders) but it was totally worth the wait. $12 for six hefty sliders and an order of fries came out to be about $20 after tip. The 6 sliders could easily feed two people. I’m obsessed.

The sliders are good portion and very delicious. Also the price is amazing. Slightly saltier than we expected. Vegetarian-friendly. Definitely a good late-night option in Austin.

I love the fun little space next to the bar. I wanted to order two sliders but they’re small and come as six. I ate all six. I like them with everything but some folks might want less mustard. The buns are martins and those are amaze balls potato rolls.

Golden Castle is serving up some no b.s. top tier sliders. The castle sliders feature signature patties with onions, pickles and American cheese on potato rolls. I suggest adding mustard as well! If you are a fan of spicy things, I also suggest trying out their Nashville hot chicken sliders.

This is bomb. Def better than White Castle. Only thing is it’s located in the back of a bar downtown. So it’s not a place I would get to go often or just stop for a quick pick up due to location

Had the sliders and onion rings for the first time. The sliders are rather addicting and a very good size (especially when comparing against chains). The onion rings were like having some at the fairgrounds. Cannot wait to go back and there’s a nice patio outside to eat if you want to eat and grab a drink from King Bees.

Fancy White Castle sliders, done right. Totally hits the spot if you want those little hamburgers. Crinkle fries are solid too. And pricing is very reasonable.

Freaking delish! Was so pleasantly surprised after randomly finding this on Uber eats and not looking up reviews. Ordered 2 boxes of sliders, 2 orders of sichuan nuggets, and mozzarella sticks. Nuggets were slightly salty but so fluffy and the sauce was perfect. Sliders were killer - loved the purple onion and secret sauce. Mozzarella sticks were cheesy and perfectly cooked. Would definitely return and check out the other menu items. Prices were super reasonable as well

Amazing sliders! And great chilli-cheese fries. The pizza puffs were okay. Since they moved to Shrangi La, I can't go without these whenever on my drunken nights on east 6th.

Food: 5/5 The closest thing to White Castle that you'll find in Texas. I would venture to say that Golden Castle may even be BETTER than White Castle! Huge portions will punish you for having eyes bigger than your stomach. Service: 4/5 Our order took a while to make, but by food truck standards this wasn't bad. Environment: 5/5 Great location hidden at the back of Shangri-La.

The food wasn't bad but ridiculously overpriced and disapointing. I'd say the burgers are comparable to what they serve at Wendy's. If you're craving white castle, it's a better idea to get the frozen ones from the grocery store. Same for the nuggets. They called them szechuan spiced but there was no spice to be seen. They served it with a generic sweet and sour sauce. Cultural appropriation much? Summary: skip golden castle and get a 4 for $4 from Wendy's. Same or better quality at a quarter of the price. Both open late.

Everything you want from a steamed hamburger sliders, to mozz sticks, onion rings, fries, chicken nuggs and so on. This spot has all the deep fried crispy goodness you want with your drinks. It's truly all the frozen fried foods you'd feed a kiddo but elevated to a nicer level. So now it's adult junk fried food goodness. The mozzarella sticks are super crispy and flaky on the outside. The nuggets are offered in various seasonings and they're all packing their own punch that makes them something special, while still retaining a bit of McDonalds Boot charm. The sliders are a perfect balance of meaty, cheesy, bready magic. Everything is good. Why are you still reading, go!

Absolutely delicious, one of those meals that'll keep you from blacking out. Bravo Golden Castle

I was super excited to try this place out. It was okay. It is exactly what you expect it to be....a White Castle taste alike. I want a huge fan of the sauce that came on the burgers, but it had a pretty good flavor. The fries were the best part... perfectly cooked. If you're in the area give it a shot but not something to go out of your way for.

Burgers and chicken nuggets were amazing. Only had delivery have not tried in person.

Stopped into Shangri-La on the way home from Vulcan Gas Company (Comedy Show) and Golden Castle (food truck) is located in the outdoor patio area. I didn't expect much it, but it was love at first bite! We ordered the following: Mozz sticks with marinara Chicken Nuggets (I don't think they come out of a frozen bag, but I could be wrong. There's just something about these nuggets that hit different! Oh, and they're priced reasonably; incredible value!) Castle Sliders - dare I say these are better than White Castle? Ya damn right... I said it. Imagine White Castle before it got super commercialized; STRAIGHT FIRE! Go checkout this awesome food truck if you're ever in the area - soooo good!

The boys from Golden Tiger over at Whistles did a pop-up called Golden Castle that makes White Castle style sliders. It went so well for them they turned it into a permanent truck that sits on the patio of the newly reopened Queen Bee. You get a half size sliders for $12 plus tax and 15% service fee (no tipping) and they are just perfect. They remind me of White Castle for sure but they use good ingredients so it's possibly even better. The staff are all super nice and gave away food during Snowpocalyse so they always have my support. Come check out the new location!

Sliders were big & yummy -- we added the signature sauce to the beef ones and it was delicious! The chicken sliders are just spicy enough and have an awesome flavor. You could definitely split six sliders between two people. The cheese fries were super thick cut, perfectly seasoned & crispy! No complaints here

these are trash burgers! hardly edible tipsy. you can not convince me they aren't microwaveable crystle burgers from Walmart. I thought Austin was the land of the best food trucks? order anywhere else.

Comfort food of the purest quality. I've had the fortune of eating here countless times since they took their spot behind Shangri La, which, is a wonderful bar staffed by wonderful people. If Golden Castle were half as good, I'd still find myself eating there regularly, because of the people. They're always quick with pleasant commentary or a joke, I can't think of a time I wasn't greeted with a welcoming smile. They're just great people, the food is pretty damn good too.

As a New Yorker who is familiar with the references this menu pulls from...all I can say is.. DAMN. I'm almost annoyed it's this good. I can't do my whole "it's better in New York." The food is epic, the staff is beyond kind. Can't wait to come back!

I'm glad the weather was not too bad last night. We were able to sit outside and enjoy our sliders. The food was nicely prepared and we enjoyed the mini burgers but next time we will either opt for no mustard or very light on the mustard. The mustard kind of overpowered the other flavors especially the onions. We will return again. We were a little surprised to be carded at the door but we did have to walk through a bar to get to the food truck.

This place is pretty freaking dope! Burgers are bomb. Had to come twice in one day. I'm definitely coming back. There is so much more I need to try.

The food is literally so good and cheap I've had the lemon pepper chicken nuggets and the hot dog it's so good my only issue is I've gone there 4 times with my friends to show them how good the food is and it's never open when it says it is . Even last night I walked 25 mins to go there and show my friends and it was closed even tho it says it open

I like this place a lot. I eat here every Wednesday before I blackout on the east side

Saw this place in uber eats,I was pretty hungry planning to get a pizza but then after seeing the photos of the sliders I decided to choose golden castle instead, I was pretty excited for it but I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed, the sliders are not bad by any means and are well made and cooked but what u see is what u get nothing to crazy as the taste is pretty average. overall pretty decent sliders if you want to grab something on the go but nothing too special P.S: the ranch they make was fire tho definitely will go there just for the ranch

Me and my girlfriend got the beyond meat sliders with some cheese fries and wow. Literally some of the best (if not the best) sliders in Austin. Soft bun with a steaming inside, the sliders were made with LOVE. The cheese fries with they're cheese was a nice compliment to the whole experience. Honest to god good sliders and fries.

I had my first White Castle experience ever while driving home for Christmas this past year and to say I became obsessed is an understatement. I was SO sad there wasn't one even remotely near Austin, until I discovered Golden Castle. To even compare these sliders to WC is an insult because these are leagues above and beyond. Simple, yet extremely flavorful and not to mention a giant portion size. These gourmet sliders are insanely cheesy and the sautéed onions and mustard add just enough sweetness and tang to balance out the rest of the burger. They are seriously incredible. The mozzarella sticks, fries, and pizza pocket are also delicious additions. I always order online and each time my order has been ready exactly when I schedule it for. There is absolutely nothing I would change about this business; you don't need a huge menu when you do the items you have perfectly.

Visited the sister truck, Golden Tiger, a few years ago when in Austin visiting family. They are just as delicious as I remember. Decided to give Golden Castle a try as well, I have been hearing about the sliders, such rave reviews. Oh my, so tasty and juicy. I would also recommend the onion rings as well. I understand these particular ones are a new addition, they are a big thumbs up from me! A must stop when in Austin.

Great sliders, similar to White Castle. Packaging is great and keeps burgers fresh. Went in. It expecting much, but exceeded expectations and would go again.

Stumbled upon this gem and I'm so glad I did. Went to grab a drink at King Bee and a friend ended up getting burgers and fries- which I tried and WHOA seriously worth it!!!

Not a fan. I got excited because although I've never been to a real White Castle, I love the little frozen ones. I've been wanting to have them fresh for so long... Browsing Uber Eats today I saw this place and decided to order. Usually I order a couple of things when I get food from somewhere I've never tried before, so I got a Pastrami Dog, 6 Sliders with mustard, Mozzarella sticks, and Crinkle Fries. I absolutely try not to hold certain things against places when I order delivery - things like temperature going down because of the distance/time factor, messiness because of someone handling it in their car... I get it and I would never complain about that. I can't put into words how disappointed I am in what I just had for dinner. I don't know exactly what it was... Maybe the mustard is just too sweet for what I expected? Maybe I'm just not a fan of their onions (I don't like grilled onions much, I like fresh, crunchy onions). Maybe the bread was sweet? I don't know what happened but I didn't like the Sliders or the Dog, the fries were just... fries (fries have to be amazing for me to *want* them. Most of the time fries are just there as filler). The Mozzarella sticks weren't horrible but weren't great. They may be a victim of the delivery time so I won't say anything too bad about them but they didn't help what ended up being a pretty bad meal, to me. I hate to drag a business down because I didn't like their food but hopefully this helps people who aren't into sweet mustard or grilled onions, or whatever, to save their money. $14.00 for 6 sliders on Uber Eats, $7.00 for a hot dog with mustard and onions. $6.00 for the mozzarella sticks didn't really seem bad to me, and $5.00 for just regular crinkle cut fries was a little high. I don't know how much more this is because I ordered through Uber Eats, but man, it was $40.00 plus tip so just under $50.00 for a very sad meal.
