Golden Castle in East Austin serves up crave-worthy, White Castle-inspired sliders alongside chicken nuggets and fries in a chilled bar vibe.
"Austin chicken sandwich truck expanded into the slider game with this East Austin truck parked at Shangri-La, but also, it serves up hot dogs too. The Vienna beef dogs can come with chili cheese or served plain. There’s also a pastrami dog iteration. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Stephen Kaste, the owner-operator of East Sixth food truck Golden Tiger, took a different approach. The idea for White Castle–inspired burgers was already in the making, originally as a food truck. When the pandemic hit, he took it as an opportunity to modify his plans. Rather than invest tens of thousands of dollars in a new business line, he decided to open Golden Castle as a “passion project” that would exist alongside his current business. The pop-up model suited Kaste, allowing him to offer high-quality products within a specific time window." - Matthew Monagle
"There’s another new burger pop-up in Austin, this one drawing its inspiration from the iconic sliders of fast-food chain White Castle. Golden Castle is run by Stephen Kaste, who also owns East Sixth food truck Golden Tiger. Golden Castle’s sliders are made with Martin’s potato rolls, loaded with beef patties, onions, and American cheese. Mustard is optional, but Kaste recommends it. The burgers are cooked and sold by the half-dozen on the spot." - Nadia Chaudhury
