Golden Chick

Extremely disappointed and shaken by our experience here. We drove all the way from Houston with our family, including a baby, looking forward to a good time but were instead met with rudeness and hostility from a staff member named Anthony in the picture attached. From the moment we arrived and requested to let us in as the store closes at 10:00 and it was 9:30; they close the dine in area at 9:00, the staff was unwelcoming and very unhelpful. Instead of assisting or answering questions, they were dismissive and condescending. What made the situation even worse was that when Anthony aggressively told us to “leave now” and escalated the situation by showing an object in a threatening manner as if to intimidate or harm us. This behavior is completely unacceptable, especially considering we had a baby with us. We expected a welcoming environment and left feeling shocked and deeply disturbed.

Hot and fresh! Had to pull up for a small wait but it was well worth it! They were so nice! Wish getting fast food was top tier service like this was!! Will be back!

Not sure what happened tonight.. this place usually rocks and consistently surprises me with great service and fresh food open-till-close. Today, was much rather an exception to that "rule"... 3rd person in DT. Waited in DT for 25 minutes, ordered, waited, paid, waited and finally got my food after a total wait of 38 minutes. I ordered the 3 piece tender combo,. The guys over here got my order correct, but the whole ordeal was already off to an underwhelming start from the wait time. Here is how that went: so they hooked it up--sorta--with eight tenders in my box. Looking good, right? No. The tenders were not fresh, hard to chew and there were large patches of tender that lacked the best part: the crispy outer crispiness of the tender. My side: battered fries --not fully cooked, some near the bottom of the loosely filled bag were very come in the center. The roll was good. So all in all I definitely think I can write this as my worst Golden Chick experience, which is still far better than what I expect for most-he like Taco Bell, etc. But the staff here consistently sets the bar impossibly high, so now on the slight chance they are having an "off" night it becomes even more apparent when something is going wrong. Note: I just want to reiterate that normally (and I mean like every other time I've been here) the food and service have been top-notch, a plus, gold star all the way.

Every time we go here we ask for spicy tenders and they give us regular. I haven't been in a while so forgot to check before I got home but this is the third time. Seems intentional at this point.

The people that work there are pleasant and will do whatever is needed to be done to make your time spent there and is well worth it. Not to mention the chicken machine. It's dang near addictive.

The girl at the cash register was very fake friendly, I felt very claustrophobic walking in the establishment. Also, there wicked wing bundle I bought today was not very satisfying to my appetite. it was overpriced considering the fact it does not come with a gallon beverage of some sort, my 4 sides wasn't even large proportioned and the wings itself doesn't even come with free sauce. I felt like I wasted my time and money. As well as the wings wasn't package professionally at all. They just dump em in the bundle box not even wrapped up in plastic or placed in an actual chicken box. Golden chick serves average fried chicken that isn't all that flavorful, I'm very disappointed.

The food was okay but the service could have been way better. 1 whoever the kitchen team member was is lazy as ever. When I open my bundle box of wicked wings they wasn't package the correct way she just throw my chicken all in the box rolls everywhere plus 4 sides dishes were small asf a toddler could have eaten those sides on their own. I won't ever be visiting Golden Chick again I rather go to church chicken for all that.

Been a while since I have been to a Golden Chick. Was craving some chicken tenders. Once I got home, they were the size of my pinkie. This is not how they used to be. I could understand raising the price for the same product, but this was bad. Never going there again. Side note, the wife said the mashed potatoes were inedible. Waste of money and time.

I usually don't order from this location for this reason. The picture below is what they consistently serve for a $4 side of rice. I don't think I need to explain how much of a rip off this is. I guess I will go back to ordering from the Round Rock location, they're much better.

Chicken "tenders" were basically chicken nuggets. Extremely small and thin. Not to mention, I ordered an extra gravy and the second one was literally all water with a hint of gravy flavoring. I hope it was a mistake and not them being stingy despite me paying for it.

I normally enjoy eating here but today the man at the drive thru was rude . I paid almost $50 for him to give me 2 cups of ice with a splash of soda and 2 hot sauce packets for 16 tenders and a tender sandwich . It sucks that you pay almost $4 for a large drink to get mainly ice and when you ask for more condiments they tell you no .

Recently visited Golden Chick because we had heard great things about it. We don't have it in Utah so we were excited to try it. There was a mistake with our order and the owner (manager?) was very kind and apologetic and fixed the problem right away. The food was delicious and we will definitely go back the next time we're in Austin. :)

The food was "aiiight" the chicken was dry as hell and taste like it had been sitting under the light for hours even tho I came when they first opened; the lil old man at the window is rude as fuck! Stingy as shit with the condiments and napkins, if I ordered a 3pc why would you give me one pack of hot sauce and get an attitude when I ask for more lol. I had to circle back around for utensils, because I guess he thought I was gonna eat the dirty rice and green beans with my hands The other locations are great; but this one I'm good on.

You know what? This busy drive-thru at Golden Chick North Lamar is kicking *ss and taking names, even during the added level of pressure of the pandemic. The impressive team of ladies running this window deserve a raise. Service is fast, friendly, and accurate - what more do you want? I am a lifelong Golden Chick fan on account of their superior quality & quantity (for fast food) fried catfish and their excellent whole wheat yeast rolls. The tenders are good, too, but I'm about that fish. Sadly, however, there are no locations anywhere near where I am usually driving in the Austin area. On a whim, I decided to press my luck and take a different route from central to north at lunch time today, and what a pleasant surprise! I fully expected to regret my decision, anticipating a snail's pace line that would surely make me late to my afternoon responsibilities. Au contraire, mon frere, even though there were 6 cars ahead of me, the line moved steadily. When I got my turn at the speaker, I was greeted immediately with a smiling voice who took my order without a glitch. When I arrived at the window, my drinks were delivered, my payment was processed immediately, and my food was handed back with my card and receipt. We were in and out in less than 10 minutes! As always, my catfish was hot, crispy, and delicious. Yesssss. Now, getting into this drive-thru line is a bit of an adventure. Come in from Rundberg and turn in at the little sign directing you to the line. It looks like you're going to the wrong place, but don't worry, you'll merge into the line. If you try coming in from Lamar, you may find yourself stuck in a quagmire. You've been warned.

Spent about $61 and didn't get one of my items, so went back and they were so rude wouldn't give me my item or a refund. Told me to check my bag again. I told them why would I come all the way back if I had gotten it, makes no sense. But they didn't care and were so unprofessional .

This place used to be great and now it's terrible. I had to throw mine away - cooked in nasty stale oil with no seasoning...just don't consider it. Yuk

Never ate here before and I won't be returning. Spent 40 total the chicken tenders are disgusting absolutely no flavor, and dry.

I love golden chick but this location sucks. Their ice cream machine has been broken for idk how long. You go to any other location and the ice cream machine works. They also don't have any lotta zing packets and when I ask why they say because the warehouse isn't sending any to them. But all the other locations have them. They are also very stingy with fries and chicken. My meal is always smaller here compared to the other golden chicks.

The fried chicken here wasn't amazing but it was simple and what you would expect. Although I love biscuits and fried chicken together, Golden Chick have their super soft bun which has a hint of sweetness. Even though it wasn't Church's honey biscuit, this bun was just as good. Would I come back here? Maybe but it wouldn't be my first choice in getting fried chicken at.

Great place and the food is even better. Must recommend to family and friends. The service is also exceptional. I don't like the drive thru always has a long line of cars in the evening.

We're visiting Austin and hitting all the common fast food joints that we don't have in California. Driving to our hotel I noticed this place advertising in the window a catfish meal so today we stopped. My dad can't eat gluten so unfortunately this wasn't a good option for him. But the manager was there and wanted to make a good impression, so he gave me a free chicken tender and chicken wing to try on the side with my meal! Really delicious and very awesome of him. They have yummy raspberry lemonade too. The inside was small but reasonably clean.

Truth be told, it's hard to foul up chicken strips. Or is that fowl up chicken strips? And this location, which was on the way back to the office after running an errand at lunch, didn't foul things up. I came in for an early lunch and got the four piece chicken strip meal. The food was pretty standard. The chicken strips were above average. The fries definitely average. The roll looked better than it tasted. It was huge, but mostly air as if it'd been allowed to rise too much. A couple of notes. They'll provide other sauces instead of gravy. Also, you have to ask for sweetener for the unsweet tea. Unlike some chains (Chick-Fil-A), they're NOT generous with condiments. They'll ask you how many sweeteners you want and give you exactly that many. Also, no napkins available. They supply you with napkins from the kitchen area. The food isn't bad. It's not stellar either. And the doling out of condiments and such makes for an unpleasant experience.

Have eaten here before but this time just didn't do it for us. I ordered the 3 piece chicken and had to have a magnifying glass to see the pieces. So disappointing. Will think twice before trying them again.

My son introduced this place to me and I argued or procrastinated on trying this place. One day he called on his way home from work to tell me Mom don't cook dinner I already bought us dinner. So He brought us home, Fried Chicken Fried chicken tenders mashed potatoes country gravy macaroni and cheese rolls and these packages of Lotta zing OK the Fried chicken has some great crunch to it and isn't all dried out.The sides were good But Oh my goodness let me tell you Add that Lotta Zing to your food and it gives it a whole new punch of flavors , taste and the food when from good to out of this world! Since this one visit This is one of my new favorite fried chicken places and I have eaten here at least 6 times now. For the Taste, price, location and drive thru convenience I am giving it 5 stars!

I was really satisfied with my chicken strip meal. The chicken was delicious, the fries were just okay, they could have been better, and it came with a pretty good bread roll. Overall, not so bad. I would order from them again.

Pretty much what everybody else on here has said so far. Chicken strips just seem standard, nothing too special about them, but I did like them quite a bit. Also the line was long as hell when I got here, but it cleared up pretty fast I'd say we was only in line for maybe 15 minutes or so. Fries wasn't bad as well and I liked the sauce that it came with. Overall I'd probably come back here again one day if I was in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so

Had faith tonight, but once again they gave me the wrong sandwich. They mess up my order 9/10 times I come. Food great, service is awful.

One of the best fried chicken places I've tried in Austin Texas since I've moved back. The corn nuggets are so good!!!! Not The cheapest fast food place to eat but by far the best!

Waited in drive through a little longer than usual (which I didn't mind), so the owner had the sense to give me a discount and excellent service! He showed me that he cares and doing his utmost best. Def will keep coming back! And food is fresh too! Highly recommend!

Omgeeee. I was really wanting Cane's but it was too far from my home and Golden Chick was down my street. Let me tell you! It was awesome and better than Cane's! I'm so glad I decided to go there instead of Whataburger (which was right next to Golden Chick). The person who took my order, Pete, was so patient and helpful when I was ordering. I informed Pete it was my first time and he let me sample some chicken strips with gravy and added some spicy seasoning. Can't wait to go back!

A co-worker of mine has Golden Chick in his 5-fast-food-joint rotation. (It may be Thursdays he brings the Golden Chick bag back to his desk) Anywho, he brought his chicken strips and it implanted a craving in Your Ol' Pal Shooey, that said something like, "Must. Have. Chicken. Gross, greasy Chicken" I couldn't shake it. And as I drove down North Lamar, I spied it-- Golden Chick. I thought to myself, "I like gold, and I like chicks, so let's do this." I whipped in to the parking lot, and bounded in, and found the Chicken Tenders Sandwich on the menu. Ta-DAH... Golden Chick in much like any other fast-food chicken place. The basic assortment of chicken, the same choices of sides. I opted for the "cardiac-patient" green beans, instead of the "what-probably-made-me-a-cardiac-patient" mac & cheese. (Dammit.) The food came out fast, and it was everything I expected. Two, perhaps three chicken tenders on a yeast roll, drenched in honey mustard. The roll was actually pretty good, and the chicken itself far less greasy that I'd feared. The green beans were soggy and tasteless. The honey mustard from the sandwich started to seep from the sandwich and onto my hand, making for a sticky mess. My low expectations having been met, I bestow two sticky stars on this establishment, and move on...

I haven't had good Golden Chick since before Covid I had it delivered but Uber always messes up my order but I had gotten a ride today and it was great. Thank y'all for working through covid y'all are doing great

This place is always so good! The staff is really nice. I saw someone complaining about something totally unreasonable and they were still so nice. Really kind people working here!

Again another chicken place that does absolutely nothing to stand out compared to other chicken places..The food was below average and has no taste..Thimbs

I went there and bought a 20 piece shrimp then was told I would have to pay .15 a piece for target then she refused to give me my second drink saying she already gave it to me like it disappeared

Best fried chicken tenders and gravy! Fresh, hot and tender. 20 tender family meal for $25. Friendly staff, too.

Wow. Terrible. Went through the drive-thru and ordered a six piece chicken tender combo with an additional side and the total came out to almost $12. The staff was kinda rude, but I guess that is to be expected for fast food in the Rundberg/Lamar area. When I got home and opened the box, there were only five tenders in the box and 3 of 5 were so small it looked more like chicken nuggets. I am perfectly willing to look past the over-priced menu and rude staff, but serving an inferior product and short changing the customer is totally deserving of a one star review.

I love the Golden Chick tenders and I've eaten at almost every Golden Chick in the greater Austin area. However, the Golden Chick on North Lamar is serving miniature tenders as if they were of normal size. I'm talking half the size of what I normally get at other Golden Chick locations. I complained to the manager and he provided me with two more puny tenders. When I asked him why his store is serving such puny sized tenders he said... "I gave you two more, that solves the problem." He didn't answer my question at all. His attitude was such that I was not deserving of a response to my question.

Craving the crispy chicken tenders, I decided to come here after a few years of no Golden Chick. The staff was very friendly, that is what stood out the most. Plus the food tasted hot and fresh. (I got the #1 combo with the 4 piece tenders, mashed potatoes, roll and large drink, coming out to almost $8.) I'll keep this location at the top of my list when I'm wanting fried chicken.

Baby I know they lines long and ppl slow but i just love them tenders! The rolls, fries, all that taste so dang good! When I was a UT student I went here like church (once a week! ). If i ever win the lottery I'm going to take golden chick to the people!

Not the pilar of efficiency. Had to wait in line for almost 20 mins while the ONE person cooks, takes orders, works drive through, ect.. Two stars cause the chicken is good.
