I am generally not a huge fan of leaving negative reviews on locally owned businesses, so I am loathe to do this. I get someone owns this and it’s their livelihood. I’m sure a very nice person. However in my opinion this place needs work or it was just a symptom of the time of my order, which was at 8pm. I was just in the area and hadn’t eaten all day. I’m very aware of the better choices around town.
I ordered the peanut butter chicken. Do NOT order that from this restaurant. The chicken by itself (it came separately from the sauce, exactly like every place does sweet and sour) was delicious. Chicken chunks were cooked to perfection. Usually these strip mall Chinese places tend to overcook the chicken to where it is chewy or the meat is of questionable origin. Not here, like I said, the chicken itself was great. The problem was the peanut butter sauce. I don’t know I’ve ever tasted something so awful or had the displeasure of smelling. Usually a peanut butter sauce is sweet, tastes like peanut butter and is lovely on chicken. This place, and I’m not being dramatic here but for real, the sauce smelled like cat pee and was atrocious. A huge avoid if you do eat here.
Like I said though, the chicken was great. So good I would have still given this place 4 stars if not for my crab rangoon being of the worst I’ve ever had. It was simultaneously overcooked and undercooked. Chewy, very floury and just a huge letdown.
Picking up the order via an online order was very nice. The person working appeared anxious to give me my food as there was no one else there. The windows were pretty dirty and the place itself was exactly what you’ve likely experienced at every other strip mall Chinese food place you’ve ever been to.
In a pinch, this place is fine but I’d never purposely make a trip here.
