I am generally not a huge fan of leaving negative reviews on locally owned businesses, so I am loathe to do this. I get someone owns this and it’s their livelihood. I’m sure a very nice person. However in my opinion this place needs work or it was just a symptom of the time of my order, which was at 8pm. I was just in the area and hadn’t eaten all day. I’m very aware of the better choices around town. I ordered the peanut butter chicken. Do NOT order that from this restaurant. The chicken by itself (it came separately from the sauce, exactly like every place does sweet and sour) was delicious. Chicken chunks were cooked to perfection. Usually these strip mall Chinese places tend to overcook the chicken to where it is chewy or the meat is of questionable origin. Not here, like I said, the chicken itself was great. The problem was the peanut butter sauce. I don’t know I’ve ever tasted something so awful or had the displeasure of smelling. Usually a peanut butter sauce is sweet, tastes like peanut butter and is lovely on chicken. This place, and I’m not being dramatic here but for real, the sauce smelled like cat pee and was atrocious. A huge avoid if you do eat here. Like I said though, the chicken was great. So good I would have still given this place 4 stars if not for my crab rangoon being of the worst I’ve ever had. It was simultaneously overcooked and undercooked. Chewy, very floury and just a huge letdown. Picking up the order via an online order was very nice. The person working appeared anxious to give me my food as there was no one else there. The windows were pretty dirty and the place itself was exactly what you’ve likely experienced at every other strip mall Chinese food place you’ve ever been to. In a pinch, this place is fine but I’d never purposely make a trip here.

We appreciate that they have their own delivery system. Always reliable, and always good, hot food. Their crab rangoons are super delicious, as is their General Tso's chicken and Moo Goo Gai Pan chicken. 🐔

Google
1st...by the time the order got to us the sauce from the Mongolian shrimp was leaked all over everything and the egg rolls were just rolling around in there free as a bird. The Mongolian shrimp has 2 carrots and probably an entire onion. That's it. The sauce didn't have a hint of spicy to it. The crab Rangoon was full of grease. At first bite they weren't too bad, but after the 2nd one the flavor of onion became too much. So overpowering. Shrimp fried rice--not sure how this qualifies as fried rice. It was basically steamed. We should have stuck with our usual restaurant. We will not be back.

Order food to go Order fried chicken wings received wings in a Buffalo sauce. The food had no real taste order the happy family. Probably won't eat there again

Google
Ordered the Lemon Chicken for takeout. Basically received nuggets of batter (no chicken inside) to dip into a styrofoam cup of lemon sauce. Never again!

Google
Food came out on paper plates with plastic forks, the tables were dirty and their are kids playing. Seats are falling apart. Servers are nice and the food is good but theirs false advertising. Wouldnt come back

Google
First and last time there. Food tasted like it was (over)cooked in pans that haven’t been washed in months. Barely any meat. Also tasted like the oil from the fryers haven’t been changed in a long time. Definitely not worth the $40.

Yelp
Expensive. Rude service. No free water. Loud waiting room. Doesn't look like a clean kitchen. Messy earring area.

Yelp
No way it should cost the same as Ming's. The flavors are bland. The quality is subpar. Quick service, but that's about all it's got going.

Yelp
This is a authentic Chinese restaurant they serve food quick and it's delicious. It's a small business so they only have a few tables, it's best to get take out. They give you large portions so be hungry when you go.

Yelp
Yum! I always seem to get cravings for Chinese food or Pizza. Those are my go-to's. So I'm glad to have a little carry-out place like this nearby! They've got good food at reasonable prices. They also make it pretty quickly too. Small dining area which I haven't seen used yet but that could just be because of the last year. Other people seem to like coming here as well. I typically go for their peanut butter chicken, fried rice and crab Rangoon. For some reason their batter is thicker/different than most places and doesn't stay crispy for very long when you add sauce. Just for some reason isn't as satisfying as the food at my favorite place across town. Overall it's good though and I like being able to easily come here on occasion. :)

Yelp
Dry good food and terrific service. This was the first time I tried Golden China. And will definitely be adding it to my rotation.

Yelp
We had a nice evening out at Golden China. For a speedy Chinese restaurant you can't beat the good prices and the good food. Everything tastes really fresh and it is super hot. Way to go Golden China for another good dining experience.

Yelp
New to Lincoln and this is our closest Chinese restaurant so we decided to give it a shot. Honey chicken was VERY good. Kung pao chicken and crab rangoons were average. Shop was open for takeout only and our order was ready in 10 min.

Val F.

Yelp
Got the Dinner for Four and could easily have served 6. Food was ready fast and was very good. We ordered Salt & Pepper Chicken, Beef LoMein, Coconut Shrimp, and Pork Chow Mei Fun. Would order them again other than the Chow Mei Fun. The noodle to everything else ratio was way too high (too much noodles.) Also ordered the Beef Spare Ribs appetizer and they were a bit dry for some of us, but others didn't mind.

Yelp
We got takeout from Golden China! It was wonderful!! Love the entrees, lo mien, fried rice, crab Rangoons and egg rolls. Also the hot and sour soup was delicious! We will be back!!! Thank you!

Yelp
Great food, with large portions! My friends and I had a big order and sadly had to order it close to closing time, but the two gentleman working there went unbelievably out of their way to make sure our order was right. And it was worth it for us, out of our dozen entrees we thoroughly enjoyed the Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken. We will gladly order again!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and had the Kung Pao beef. It came with fried rice and an egg roll. The meal was good. The restaurant itself is not large or fancy. About 6 booths. Interior is very clean and the family (I assume) that runs it are quite nice. The meal came with an egg roll and fried rice. The egg roll was the size of a spring roll at other restaurants. The Kung Pao was filled with basic vegetables (celery, onion, carrots) and the fried beef was adequate. The sauce was flavorful but lacking any spiciness, as the menu indicated. I'm sure, that if asked, they could spice it up to the point that all offices are burning. What surprised me was how many carry out orders were taken out while I was there. Not necessarily a place to take a date, but a good place to grab lunch or take out.

Yelp
I signed my take-out bill for $7.95. Just received bank notification my total charge is $10.43. I don't tip unless I'm served at a table. They added on the tip without my authorization!

Yelp
They always get my difficult order right. Love the bean curd and veggies. Staff is always great!

Yelp
Just went tonight for my usual mixed veggie rice, I wanted more veggies for my rice. I let the front counter worker(the actual owner) know that it wasn't as much as last time. Guess what he does? He goes back there and cooks a big portion of veggies just for me. He gave me this big box and I tried to refuse because I felt extremely guilty. I tell him I want to pay for how much he gave me and he just makes me promise to come next time I visit from Omaha. Wonderful customer service!!!! The owner actually came in on his day off in the evening to cover someone else's shift. This guy is extremely hard working and one of the kindest owners I've met. I highly recommend the general tso chicken and the mixed veggies fried rice. Also the happy family is pretty delicious too. If you're ever unpleased here let the owner know, I guarantee he get back to you.

Yelp
Golden China specializes in Cantonese, Szechuan & Hunan style dishes. Not sure which region our dishes were from but they were good. Golden China uses fresh vegetables and flavorful sauces. We tried broccoli chicken, beef low mein and sesame tofu. No sacrifice to go veggie here. The sesame tofu was made with cubes of tofu crisply fried & covered with a slightly sweet/tangy brown sauce. I'm pretty calm now but it was exciting to try something out of the ordinary and so good. If you are looking for healthy items there are several low fat platters on the menu that are steamed instead of sauteed in oil. The order of 6 steamed dumplings ($4.95) didn't look like anything you'd find at my grandma's house but they were delicious. The little pillows are filled with seasoned meat and come with a special soy based sauce. Golden China is a small restaurant with 6 or 7 booths and about as many tables. The TV was loud but luckily someone turned it off as more customers came in. The furnishings are all new and a little nicer than the standard formica tables. The plates and utensils were a mix of real plates, styrofoam, plastic forks and chopsticks. We ordered off the menu while seated but we had to retrieve our own utensils and glasses of water. We suspected because the owner's young daughter is still learning to be a server. They don't bring you a bill, pay at the counter as you leave. Dinners are $6 to $8 with shrimp dishes around $9. Pretty fair considering the quality and portions. Lunch special are $5 and include fried rice, egg roll, or soup. You might need help finding Golden China. It's set off from North 84th St. on the west side. In a strip of shops about a block North of Hy-Vee. Lucky for you it's right next to Eileen's Cookies.

Yelp
For its price, perhaps the best Chinese restaurant in Lincoln, comparable to Great Wall on 70th Street. Every Wednesday, they offer a "second dish at half price" deal (as does Great Wall). You can eat in or order out, the bulk of their business. If you eat in, the ambiance is simple. You get actual plates (but also soup and water served in styrofoam), and the portions are more then ample. Some Chinese restaurants pile on meat to the exclusion of vegetables, but not Golden China. The food is well-prepared and spicy, with interesting sauces. Instead of dull white steamed rice, they serve fluffy yellow fried rice. Each $7 dinner entree comes with choice of soup or egg roll--more than enough for the evening meal. We sat underneath the TV but could easily carry on our conversation without raising our voices. If you like Chinese food, it's well worth a visit.

Yelp
For a take out, this is great, very unique flavors that I haven't had anywhere else.love the crab rangoons and beef with broccoli. large portion for a good price.

Yelp
Really good food for a decent price. If it's a Friday or Saturday night, call ahead for your take out order.

Bryce R.

Yelp
Waist of money, I got my order to go and when I got home after a few bites I ended up throwing the dish away. I ordered the peanut butter chicken that was more like runny butter covered chicken with a hint of peanut. The fried rice was not even close to fried, more like yellow steamed rice. My dinner consisted of just the crab rangoon.

Yelp
Food is as expected for fast Chinese (American) takeout. The vegetarian options are plenty, and the owner (?; a woman) is always very friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend!

Kayleen J.

Yelp
Food was fresh and hot. The dining area was empty and not super clean. Your typical Chinese restaurant.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to eat in Lincoln. I absolutely love Golden China! The employees are nice, and the food is to die for! Great food and big portion sizes. Good prices too. You can get your meal to dine in, take out, or delivery. Everything is made really fast! They have really fast delivery too! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Been coming back for years,by far the best general tso's chicken I've ever had. Everything on the menu is great and you most likely won't be disappointed with the food,We couldn't have asked for better service. Complimentary cake, and to-go boxes without even having to ask, a great place not just to grab a bite to eat, but to have an experience

Yelp
I'm a picky eater for sure and this place is pretty awesome as far as Chinese takeout goes. Not salty, or greasy but instead full of flavor. Best part is chicken isn't mystery meat and the veggie options have LOTS of veggies. My only issue is no brown rice and the egg rolls leave something to be desired.

Yelp
Love this place! The food is standard Chinese, but its the only restaurant I've found with delivery and a decent website to order from. Their staff is so friendly and helpful! One time my car quit on me as I was picking up dinner and they came out to see if I was OK, offered to help with my vehicle and even offered to take me home! The restaurant is clean and well kept. I wouldn't call it 5 star dining but the staff makes this place wonderful!

Yelp
I came here for a late lunch/early dinner and was pleasantly surprised. It is a little out of the place, but it's enjoyable mainly because they do everything to order while allowing for takeout. Service is difficult to comment on as I was the only eater at the time so they were quite prompt and quick in getting my meal together. That said however although they do things to order it still is Americanized Chinese food which may or may not influence other peoples decisions. I had ended up having the Chicken w/ Cashew Nuts and it was quite nicely done. The pieces were cut nicely and the vegetables were fresh. Based on this single dish I would return if I had a craving for Americanized Chinese food though it's hard to stand out doing Americanized Chinese Food. That said it felt like they did pretty well and didn't go too heavy on the grease or being too salty which is a common problem with Americanized Chinese in general. Decor is not very amazing, but I wasn't expecting too much. In short I would return in a fix, but it wouldn't necessarily be a high pick for food choices unless the category was limited to Americanized Chinese.

Yelp
I placed an online order for delivery and received a verification email. Our delivery was scheduled for 6:00. When 6:20 had passed I called them, using the number from their email. I was told they had no delivery driver. When asked why they did not call us they claimed they had no orders. When asked why I received verification email if no order, he hung up on me.

Yelp
Pretty typical "Chinese" fare. I've been there twice; I'll probably go again because it's close.

Yelp
Passing thru Lincoln, we found this nice little Chinese restaurant, of all places, in the middle of the vast state of Nebraska. The food was all pretty darn good albeit some items were a tiny bit too salty for me, but compared to what I am used to in Chicago, would be your regular run of the mill restaurant. Still worth a stop if your hungry.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Their crispy chicken was great that I had ordered in the past! I decided to try something new for their lunch special. I ordered the garlic chicken lunch special with an egg roll and an egg drop soup. The soup was bland and had a black hair in it. Also, after throwing away the soup I attempted to eat my entrée. There was a metal scraping from a scrubber in my rice. Unfortunately, I will never go back there.

Yelp
Small portions but good taste. Husband had lots of celery in his dish. Fried rice looked more like white rice that had food coloring to make it yellow. Bathroom light kept going off n on and no paper towels. Offered plastic forks. Won't be back sad to say. Good location.

Shelby R.

Yelp
Disgusting place to eat. Food was horrible. Meat was undercooked and noodles were still hard. I've been here more than a few times and it still was bad every time.

Spencer L.

Yelp
Peanut butter chicken literally had coagulated Skippy peanut butter on top. Waste of time/money.

Sheri L.

Yelp
This Chinese Restaurant is #1. The doneness of the chicken is the biggest concern and it passes with flying colors. The flavors and selections are A++. The art deco is pleasing to the eye. The trip across town is well worth the price of gas. I emailed the Governor and recommended the Golden China for a night out.

David D.

Yelp
It is hard for me to find a Chinese restaurant I like. I like the food here a lot. The fried rice is excellent. The steamed dumplings I crave. My wife says they look slimily but I prefer them over fried dumplings. Just a simple place with quality food. It is out of the way tucked back off the street, but I actually like that. I am not an expert on Chinese food but I have tried just about every Chinese place in town and prefer this place over any because of the food and the price.
