Have had good experiences most of the times for the past year or so, but yesterday, Memorial Day was memorable, in the bad sense. Around 3pm, I arrived at the Warren Rd. location, and looked for a shaded spot in my usual parking area. A car was in the best location, parked over the line, taking two spots. Seeing a young man inside the car, I moved slowly next to his car with mine, and asked politely whether he could move over to the left, so I could use the adjacent, partially shaded spot. The young black man responded angrily that he was staying in his spot and that I had no business suggesting that he move. I reiterated that he was over the yellow line, taking two spots, and he interrupted, telling me to go away, in vulgar terms. I then told him:
"You're the boss, I'll move away." Then, he started threatening me, and I crossed myself and prayed: "Lord, please help this man find his way back to the right path." That made him even angrier, and I backed out and moved my car about 30 ft to the left, into a sunny spot. Then he shouted at me to get out, and threatened bodily harm to me. As I started to get out of my car, I heard a rock hit the passenger side of my car. He chased after me initially, but stopped when he saw a couple of people get out of their car, in my path to the front door of Golden Corral. To keep things brief, I'll just say that a female Assistant Mgr. confronted me just inside, having just got a call, apparently, from the thug in the Golden Corral t-shirt. The General Manager, Dan Sitton, then came to the register area, and both of them said no, they weren't going to call the Police, and that the whole affair was my fault. On my way back to my car, the first thug, who apparently was an employee, and a second thug, harassed me and shouted abuse at my from a moderate distance. Neither Manager told the thugs to stop the verbal abuse, or to stop advancing at me. I did get quickly to my car without being intercepted and drove away, never to come back again, it seems.
I formerly worked for Jennifer Granholm, as an EEO Complaint Officer at Wayne County, and this seems to have racial overtones. I'm almost 74 yrs. old, so I need to be especially careful where my physical safety is concerned.
