I've yet to try the first location, but I got to try this newer second location!
It's quite nice, brightly lit and fancy inside. On weekends the plaza is SUPER fisted due to the market on the other side and big grouping of so many eateries in the plaza, so keep this in mind since you might need to circle around a bit. However, on a weekday night, we were able to find parking and managed to get seating for a party of 7 before it got too busy. Whew!
Service was super efficient and friendly, even with my severely broken Vietnamese, I was glad that the waitress was quite patient and kind.
For our party we ordered the:
1) Golden Delight Pho - Pho Dac Biet:
-This is the deluxe pho. Comes with filet steak, fatty brisket, tripe, tendon, beef ball, green and white onions, and cilantro. Love that this comes in a stone bowl. Aesthetically pleasing and allegedly holds the heat longer than a regular bowl.
-Perfect texture for noodles and the broth is flavorful. They don't skimp out on the meat either.
2) Spring Rolls:
-Comes with 3 pieces and all of the fixings (lime, chilies, peanut sauce, etc.).
-Filled to the brim with ingredients inside and it's not super dry either. Solid spring rolls and they're pretty sizeable too.
3) Vietnamese Steamed Rice Cake with Dried Shrimps:
-Comes with 12 pieces.
-Love the slight crips on the edges. Put a little bit of shredded carrots on top and add on the fish sauce. Delicious burst of flavor in each bite. I don't get banh beo super often, and getting it here is a must.
4) Chicken Curry with Baguette:
-This became my friend's brother's favorite. It's now his staple dish to order here. Very flavorful curry. It's Vietnamese style so it's more watered down and not as thick, making it perfect to slurp up or dip with the baguette.
-Delicious boiled veggies in the curry that absorb the flavor wonderfully and you get a generous amount of chicken in it too.
5) Bun Rieu:
-This is ground shrimp, egg, tomato, and soup with vermicelli noodles. This was the least favorite of the things that we ordered. It became SUPER salty after adding in the ground shrimp and even with mixing it, it was almost impossible to eat. I wouldn't get this again. Might have been the worse bun rieu I've had as a Viet. The only reason I'm demoting the review.
The banh beo was super addicting and yummy. I've only been here for one visit, but I'm glad it's now a staple for my Cantonese friend.
