I ordered the house special fried rice and the #3 pork dim sum. My table also order the #2 and the walnut shrimp. Honestly the fried rice was pretty bad. Really dry and no flavor whatsoever, barely any meat, seriously do not order it. The dim sum #3 was ok I could see myself eating that again but the #2 was not good. The walnut shrimp was ok but I wouldn’t recommend it. Overall I would not come back here. We didn’t even finish the food.

I was here for a memorial service for a woman who made a big difference in the disability community. Easy to find- there is an English sign in yellow above the Chinese version visible high on the street level facing the street before you get there. Easy parking- street parking and valet are very accessible even on a busy weekend at around 11am. Food we received for the services was very good. As a Chinese American, I tend to have higher standards, and they were very good, fresh, and there was a lot of good service in spite of how many were being served at one time. A lot of our members had special needs, and everyone seemed happy. My only complaint was the closest bathroom was not easy to work with, though it was relatively clean. There was no lock on the door. Someone with problems lifting the chair to close the door in place would be easily walked in on by strangers. They did have a better bathroom at the front of the restaurant. However, for many of our guests with special needs, the walk was too far to make it worth the trip. If you are eating at the main restaurant area and not in the back banquet hall, or if you are less shy this would not be a concern for you.

Randomly stopped in because we were in the area and wanted dim sum. The good items - shu mai, spare ribs in black bean sauce (loooove the pumpkin or sweet potato they put at the bottom of the dish), and the tripe. The chicken feet were decent. The baked bbq pork baos would’ve been good but their meat mixture was too mushy. It needed more to their mix. The rice noodle rolls we wouldn’t order again. The shrimp in them were super fishy tasting like not fresh. So I didn’t even bother trying the meat one my friend ordered. Service was good. Everyone was very nice and attentive! Refilled my water, stopped and asked if we needed more items or wanted anything off the trays. Very nice service. Parking - it’s DTLA. You’re either paying for street meter parking or paying for a lot parking space. We luckily found a metered space open right out front of the restaurant.

Very special Chinese place with delicious dishes and courteous staff. Unique culinary experience in the center of China town. Highly recommended

I truly enjoy that this establishment is still going strong over the years. Ordered takeout here and was impressed by the large portions. My only complaint is that they go a little too heavy on the sugar / corn syrup. Chinese style eggplant with garlic shouldn’t be that sweet! The beef chow fun and fried shrimps were lovely. Otherwise though loved it here and order here regularly :)

A traditional old school location with a lot of character with a full selection of delicious dim sum. A fun place for groups

Google
Really fast to get food, important to know that whatever food they offer you they will charge you and they will come often to offer you many food, I really loved the dim sum and dumplings here. My friend ordered a soup and forgot to stir it before so she wanted salt but at the end realized it was at the bottom of the bowl, so stir before eating their soup.

6/29/2024 = 5 Star = Been here many times , still same very good dimsum , the only problem most of the time are parking spot, I still give 5 coz my family enjoyed it.

Yelp
Probably the best dim sum in Los Angeles. This place is a timeless establishment. The dim sum is pretty good, although they have pairs back their offerings in the last several years. But you will still get your traditional dishes. You have to order from the list and the wait staff goes in the back to get it. Service is like almost every Chinese restaurant / sometimes they are rude, some times they are nice.

Yelp
Sunday, Jan 19 '25, 1030 am. Valet parking free with validation, 2 hour max time limit or $10 charge as printed on the ticket handed out by the car valet team. Grade A on the door! Fantastic! Crowd factor... Not as busy. However, an hour later, it's busy in the dining room and noisy! My go-to dim sum items... My favorite are shu mai and the deep fried shrimp balls. They do not taste the same as they aren't pushing carts around. I'm an OG from back in the day and my theory is it's a change in management? A cut back in the labor force and food costs I suppose. I tried the egg tart and sesame ball... It's not as sweet as before. Cutting back on sugar? Or is it that you have a new chef or new recipe. My theories seems to make sense. The service seems to have to a step up? Just seems with less cart pushing, there's more waiters checking on the table to increase items added to the bill. The check total came to $180+change for a party of seven. The rear men's restroom... Clean factor is passable but not wheelchair accessible. It's definitely different now at Golden Dragon, cost cutting definitely in play here in 2025.

Yelp
Food: 3/5 Decent sizes, peking duck wasn't a bit dry, chicken feet was well season. Service: 3/5 Servers were ok, didn't offer much input. A bit confusing when ordering dishes. But staff was nice. Ambiance: 3/5 Sat near entrance which was a bit odd in terms of table placement. Tables were large and open. Decor was mediocre.

Yelp
We've been to China Town many times, but I don't recall trying Golden Dragon Restaurant because we always go there after lunch. Golden Dragon Restaurant has been around in Chinatown for many years. We went there for dim sum at around 2 p.m. on Sunday, it was a bit late for lunch but it still had many people there. We saw a group of tourists just left before we entered the restaurant. It's spacious inside and they have many Golden Dragon decors on the wall because they are related to their restaurant name. We ordered 9 dishes of dim sum for 3 of us. They were Har Gow, Chicken feet, steamed spareribs with black bean sauce, turnip cake, egg roll, shrimp rice roll, shrimp & leek dumplings, beef stew, and mango pudding. The dim sum quality was not bad, we liked the shrimp & leek dumplings the most because they had a lot of shrimp & leek inside. Har Gow had big shrimp inside but the skin could be thinner. We also liked the shrimp rice roll (shrimp cheung fun), mango pudding, etc. I didn't eat chicken feet but hubby and my mom thought they were mediocre and could be more flavorful. The turnip cake was too thick and the top part did not pan-fried enough time so they were not crispy. The price was pretty good, weekend price item A cost $4.60/per order, item B $5.50/per order, item C $6.50/per order, and item D $7.50/per order. Overall, I would give it a B rating.

Yelp
Was in Glendale but the craving for dim sum set in. To satisfy my desire for these delectable Chinese small dishes, we drove back to Chinatown. At any rate, if you're looking for an authentic and budget-friendly Asian brunch experience, Golden Dragon is the spot. Don't be swayed by the negative remarks on the app. Everyone's experience is subjective, explore at your own risk. What you won't find here are rolling silver carts of steaming dishes. What you will find though, are tables purposely aligned for easy traffic. Waiters in their uniforms, taking drink orders and ladies efficiently bringing your chosen dishes from the kitchen. I ordered the faves: braised chicken feet, pork siu mai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, and fried shrimp balls. The addition of the cold seaweed salad was a good choice because it served as a palette cleanser in between the dishes. It was satisfyingly delicious, and no, did not miss the rolling carts. Unassuming and unpretentious, Golden Dragon is siu mai type.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for quite some time. This is one of the restaurants you see in the movies. Reminds me of the restaurant from the movie, "A Christmas Story." This place is opulent in its unique custom decor and ambiance. Love it. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was unbelievably fast. I got the Mongolian beef and it was everything! I was most impressed. The waiter was super friendly and sweet. I love how they bring you a pot of tea immediately. I'll keep coming back for the good food and the decor that really gets my imagination going. Really love the chandelier. These types of restaurants are jems!!

Yelp
Still one of the last surviving banquet-style Chinese restaurants remaining in Chinatown. Going through many management changes over the past years this place remains the same with decor and the hard working staff. With plenty of space, Gold Dragon continues to be a popular place for catered events in the Chinese community. With a small semi-private space in the front and a large back sectioned area this is a good venue for many private parties. The menu is consistent with Cantonese-style dishes. Served banquet or family style the menu is an array of flavors, proteins, and vegetable options. As a banquet-style Cantonese restaurant, there is also Dim Sum available daily, but they do not serve Dim Sum with the traditional carts everyone has come to love. There is a limited Dim Sum checklist sheet that you can fill out after you tell your server what kind of tea you prefer. Dim Sum on average is above $5 per order, and the quality & freshness are not what they used to be. The limit in options and chef creations is a disappointing mention as this was once a got-go favorite for many patrons. Dinner entrees are on par with your average Cantonese restaurants with a slight edge above the rest who don't offer seafood options. Limited parking is available usually with dinner hours requiring a small parking fee or tip to the valets on weekends.

Yelp
Here's all you need to know: Ni. Wong. Bao. If you are a fan of the most amazing baked (not steamed, ugh) dessert bun, this is your place. Flaky, fresh, warm with the most delicious yellow yolk inside, it's hard to find at most dim sum places, but here it is! 奶黄包! OK, I'll jump off the ni wong bao soapbox. Golden Dragon is an old school dim sum hall. The carts are gone, but 50 workers are there, running around collecting your menu slips and refilling your teapots. Parking lot right next store. We usually judge our dim sum places by the har gow, and Golden Dragon gets high marks -- the shrimp are big and the skin not too thick. Total cheat meal? The calamari is a hit. I'm not a chicken feet person, but everyone at my table gobbled them up. Pre-Covid, there were two other giant dim sum halls -- Empress Pavillion and Ocean Seafood -- both gone. Show Golden Dragon some love! No wait here, as this places seats about 10,000.

Sarah K.

Yelp
- Yummy dim sum! I thought the sweet custard bun and sesame red bean were both delicious! Otherwise, the rest were very classic dim sum dishes that came out quick - Large seating area, so there was no wait during lunch time (11am-12pm) when our party went - Parking: metered street parking if you're lucky or valet parking in the back of the restaurant

Maggie C.

Yelp
Their dim sum variety was actually pretty limited.. We came in on a Friday morning, and it was pretty empty. We weren't given a full menu, just the dim sum menu. Everything tasted ok. Morning spectacular.. nothing stood out. Their bathroom in the back was atrocious.

Tammy S.

Yelp
Came here for a banquet style gathering and the food was great. This is one of the original Chinatown restaurants that I know that made it through the pandemic. There is valet parking right next to this restaurant or meter parking in the street. There may be other parking lots nearby too. We had pork, walnut shrimp, vegetables, steamed chicken, bbq beef, steamed fish, lobster, fried rice, and for dessert was mango pudding. All of this food was seasoned and cooked well. It was a very delicious and filling meal and a good time with relatives.

Yelp
Why did it take me so long to return to Golden Dragon? This is a very well established restaurant in Chinatown. It is old school, the cook is on point. Food came out piping hot, plenty to choose from and they had superb service. I love whole fried fish and it's getting harder to find. They had it here and it was by far the best I've ever had. We also had a killer salty fish and chicken fried rice which I highly recommend- it sounds exotic and different and it is- my husband who hates seafood loves this dish and he said it's so complex in flavor and delicious, nine out of ten of my non Chinese friends (friends who aren't familiar with the heart and soul of Chinese food) love this dish. The gailan or Chinese broccoli is very fresh and delicious here. My husband loves beef chow fun (flat noodles) and they definitely make the best one. They use high quality meat and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Compare this to SGV, but I think that's kind of silly because this is Chinatown and not SGV. Also it's not fair to compare restaurants since each restaurant is a completely separate business with different talent and offerings. I digress. We like going to Mama Lu's for convenience, they have a free parking lot, however I don't mind paying $5 for parking / searching for metered parking and walking.. actually I'm pretty spoiled with walking, I love it. Nice and air conditioned on a hot summer day. Plenty of seating inside, comfortable 4 seated tables for even a party of two. Expert tips: parking $5 available in the back, or there's plenty of metered parking just read the signs of course! Promenade nearby at the Chinese plaza and different stores nearby, everything is so central. Just make sure to bring a hat and water as it can get really hot.

Yelp
Wow! This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in LA. I was nearby for an event and noticed their advertising immediately. The service was a little slow and for how busy it was I highly recommend hiring more servers for the evenings/week nights. I am so curious to try their squid here. Literally everything ordered was amazing in taste and portions. The ambiance was elegant but deserved more TLC amongst the team.

Yelp
When I go to or through Los Angeles Golden Dragon is a stop I like to make.  After my parents and brother moved from China to San Diego there were no places in San Diego to get dim sum.  Fortunately the drive to Los Angeles wasn't bad.  Golden Dragon was one of their favorite spots to get dim sum.  Much has changed since our first visit in the 1970's but the Golden Dragon is still here. Siu mei had a mild flavored won ton wrapper and a mix of pork and shrimp as the filling.  Loved the flavors. Baked bbq pork bun had a sweet honey glaze on top and inside was delicious bbq pork filling.  Very good. Egg roll was crunchy on the outside and the filling full of veggies.  Good. Bbq pork pan fried noodles had crunchy egg noodles and I loved the egg based flavor.  Bbq pork was tender and full of 5 spice powder based flavor.  Bok choy was fresh and crisp with an earthy flavor.  Mushrooms had a nice flavor.  The brown sauce that covered the noodles had a delicious flavor.  This is one of my favorite bbq pan fried noodle dishes. Chinatown has changed alot since I visited with my parents but I'm glad the Golden Dragon is still here. Golden Dragon was our 1st stop on our Spring 2024 road trip to Yosemite + King's Canyon National Parks.

Yelp
Came here based on the ratings and I'm so confused. Our visit was not a great time and the food was horrible. We came here on a Saturday morning and it wasn't busy at all. They offer a parking lot to the side but we ended up paying for parking around the corner in a lot with an attendant. We were seated immediately. Based on the dated decor we were excited to be eating dim sum there but nothing we ordered was great. We got all the usuals. We ordered spare ribs, chicken feet, ha gow, shu mai, tofu skin wraps, and XLB. All the dim sum came out fast but none of it was hot. It was more room temperature. Some of the dishes you could tell was sitting for a while because it was mushy and the texture wasn't great. The XLB did not have much soup inside and they were pretty much rock hard. Both the spare ribs and chicken feet had been sitting because it was gelatinous and started to get a funky texture/taste. Also the interior has an old building scent. It's pretty powerful when you walk in but goes away the longer you eat there. Not sure how the reviews are so high for this place but maybe because it's located in Chinatown? If you travel towards SGV there's some better options to try.

Cassondra C.

Yelp
The food didn't match the pictures and really lacked flavor. The Mongolian beef was super salty, the cashew chicken was bland & had really large chunks of celery in it which wasn't in the picture. The tangerine chicken was plain no spice or real flavor over battered. I would not order from here again. I spent over $100 for mediocre food. My kids liked the shrimp fried rice and chow mein. But I was surprised with all the food I ordered there was no steam/white rice. I ordered 3 entrées: Mongolian beef, tangerine chicken, cashew chicken and shrimp fried rice, chicken chow mein, and four egg rolls. I would think there would be rice separate for the main dishes.

Yelp
I grew up going to Chinatown and suprisingly this was my first time in here. Now I know why my parents never took me here, the food is substandard. Service was non-existent as well. We were pretty much ignored any time we tried to wave someone down. My family and I came for dim sum after the Firecracker run, and we ordered a bunch of stuff off their paper menu - no dim sum carts here except for the porridge lady. Half of our order came out and we ate through it. But the quality of the food is not great. Sticky rice with chicken had soggy rice, not sticky. Har gow skins were mushy. Dumplings were still cold inside. Actually a lot of the food that was supposed to be hot was not really hot. I would stay the buns we got were the best of what we had. We waited...and waited... and waited for the other half of items we ordered and they never came. I asked them to follow up on our food, nothing came. We eventually gave up and decided to leave. My hubby said it was ok we never got the rest of our food (about another 8 dishes) because it probably would be just as bad as what we were already served. When the lady closed out our check, I told her the other half of our food never came. She ignored me, proceeded to ask how many boxes we needed to pack our food and left me with our check. I have low expectations of service at Chinese restaurants, but this place hit a new low. Everything about this experience was bad. Unless you want to dine in the restaurant where they filmed Netflix's The Brothers Sun, I would say skip this place.

Sonya E.

Yelp
Located in Chinatown of LA, this place has been around (as I was told by the owner) for over 35 years. The wait on a Saturday late morning was about an hour. Grab a number upon arrival and wait inside or outside, but be prepared to wait especially if you have a party greater than four. The dim sum is actually pretty good. Flavor and texture were good -- presentation not so much. There are items you can order that are not on the standard menu so if you have a specific dim sum favorite -- google the image (if you don't speak any dialect of Chinese) and flag down someone down to show them to help you place in the order. Average prices -- not expensive but about market rate. The owner who is an older gentleman walks the floor and attends to as many tables as he is able to. For his age, I give him kudos for being as active and as engaged as he is -- a man with great humor and pride for his restaurant. Support local minority owned small businesses y'all!

Juliet T.

Yelp
Decent dim sum for a quick and budget friendly meal. There is valet parking available on the side of the restaurant, and you can get it "validated" if you tip the workers doing valet. My group of 8 was quickly seated, and checked our dishes on a paper menu (no dim sum carts around). My table was really surprised for our food to be immediately served within a minute or two of putting our orders in! Felt a little suspicious that it came out THAT quick. I thought the dim sum was okay- nothing too notable about the flavors or quality. Definitely not the best dim sum I've had, but not the worst either!

Kevin E.

Yelp
Had dimsum on 8/31/24. Little early at 10:30 but seated quick. Ordered by checking off the paper menu and things arrived quick. Everything was good however one dish, the fried shrimp balls was not hot. More room temp warm. The steamed chicken bun had the smallest piece of chicken. All the other dishes were excellent and service was great

Mic G.

Yelp
Good food and have valet parking for free just give tip to attendant this place is big and good for events

Karen L.

Yelp
I haven't been to Chinatown for food in a looooong time and set low expectations. I was actually here for a banquet. And surprisingly, the food was solid. Its got the OG Cantonese LA restaurant vibes, with fresh ingredients and solid cooking. For example, the chicken actually reminded me a bit of Hainan chicken. The pepper beef was very tender too. Parking is difficult in this part of town. They do validate for the valet parking next door. Tips only for first 2 hours. Then $10 after 2 hours.

Amenda L.

Yelp
Came here with my partner randomly on a Thursday evening to eat dinner and wait out traffic. AMBIANCE It was fairly empty and quiet at this time. The interior is a classic Chinese decor that we found very charming and wish we could have taken moody photos in. SERVICE TOP TIER! We found our servers to be extremely attentive, kind, and quick. They weren't super personable as you could imagine in an authentic Chinese restaurant but despite that they were charming the way your asian grandparents can be both stern yet adorable. FOOD We really enjoyed our meal. 1. The skin on the Har gow was thick but that is actually how my partner prefers it as he likes the chew. The shrimp was plump and juicy. I wouldn't say it was remarkable compared to other dim sum restaurants but we still enjoyed it. Especially considering we ordered it for dinner and not at the typical brunch time 2. The shui mai was also juicy, porky, and filling. Just like the Har gow it was not remarkable but we enjoyed it and it really hit the spot 3. Fried salted calamari - was perfectly flavored, crispy, and not too breaded! Would order again! 4. Scallop in black bean sauce - there was a generous portion of scallop. Each scallop was large, juicy, and surprisingly extremely fresh! My partner was super impressed and enjoyed this dish 5. Not pictured but we also received an order of sesame balls and it was perfect way to end the meal. Not too sweet, warm, and deliciously chewy. We would definitely come back!

Yelp
My family and I ate here for breakfast this morning. The entire place was truly packed since the LA marathon was ongoing in front of the restaurant. The ambiance was spacious and nostalgic with semi-dimmed lighting. I could tell this restaurant is an institution in LA's Chinatown. We came at approximately 9:30AM, but were fortunately seated in the back before many marathon participants arrived. I tried to order a Tofu Bean Curd dish, but the servers said it was not yet available until lunchtime. Instead, in the morning, we can only order from their dim sum menu. It was quite confusing when we tried to order because my family didn't know there was a difference between their servers and waiters. It was not clear how to distinguish the two kinds of staff on duty, but we just did our best to be patient and try to flag the right person. Like many dim sum places, the staff would mark your table's piece of paper and determine (internally) if your order has been marked or not. They provide a separate sheet of paper where you could mark any additional items. There aren't many vegetarian options for dimsum, but their egg rolls are vegetarian friendly. Although not pictured, their egg rolls were filled with carrots, bean sprouts and were crunchy and not greasy. Their taro cake was fluffy and flavorful. Perhaps on my next visit, I would love to try their entrees (including those that are vegetarian friendly) during lunch or dinner, along with their staple dim sum menu.

Yelp
Golden Dragon Restaurant in Chinatown offers an authentic Hong Kong-style dining experience that is both heartwarming and satisfying. As I stepped into this old-school Chinese establishment, I was immediately enveloped in a certain opulence, marked by crystal chandeliers, intricately carved wood furniture, and charming fu dogs at the entrance. This setting perfectly complements the traditional Cantonese cuisine, particularly the dim sum offerings, which are the highlight here. The menu features classic dishes like xiao long bao, steamed cheung fun noodles, and coconut purple rice cake for dessert, each presented with an attention to detail that speaks to the authenticity of the fare. It's worth noting that Golden Dragon has adapted to the changing times and no longer uses carts for serving dim sum. Instead, dishes are brought from the kitchen. While the restaurant has been facing slower business, a common challenge for many local establishments in Chinatown, the food quality remains high. The pricing is fair, making it an accessible option for those wanting to enjoy a genuine taste of Hong Kong without leaving LA. It's a poignant reminder of the importance of supporting local businesses, especially those that are integral to the cultural fabric of areas like Chinatown. The absence of carts may be a subtle nod to the loss of customers/foot traffic in Chinatown after the pandemic, but it does not diminish the culinary experience. The food at Golden Dragon continues to delight with its flavors and authenticity. Golden Dragon Restaurant is a choice destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in traditional Cantonese cuisine and support a local Chinatown business. Ignore the negative reviews others are posting. If you look closely, it's mainly because they were disappointed that the food carts weren't offered anymore. How embarrassing of them to strike a local mom-and-pop business for not having carts. Sad.

Chan Y.

Yelp
Real Hong Kong style Dim Sum here in Chinatown Los Angeles. It's harder to find places that still do the traditional carts anymore, but the Dim Sum here is good, and the food still comes out quick. I love taking people who have never had a real Dim Sum experience for the authentic feel that the Golden Dragon restaurant still provides. You can come in and order to go, or have a seat and eat your fill, then pack up the leftovers to go, but either way you will not regret it. Every time here I'm ordering with multiple meals in mind.

Carlos C.

Yelp
my dad brought us here when we were kids. so many memories. Gradutations and casual lunch dates. My mom loves it here too

Zean C.

Yelp
Went for Dimsum here after 8 years. It's been a while. Chinatown has gotten so ghostly. Not much people around and most shops are now closed. Good restaurants are ow closed. They no longer have the carts. You have to order and they bring it out from the kitchen. Our Dimsum came cold. The tarp cake was even frozen in the middle. The Har Gow was also old - the skin was so thick. Shumai was ok. The other stuff we got were so unsatisfactory. We didn't even ordered much and the bill was $200. 18% tip was mandatory. That's probably my last trip in that place. Too bad. I've been going there since I was a child.

Max S.

Yelp
We went to the Golden Dragon because the dim sum was brought around on carts for us to see and choose from. They no longer have the carts. We won't go there again.

Frederic S.

Yelp
My go to dimsum and other entree for seafood, beef or chicken and noodle selections. My to go order today of seafood tofu hotpot and spicy salt cod fillet was as usual so satisfying, never a disappointment. Will have dimsum in the next few days as my wife and I hardly cooks and our to go orders normally are more than suffice.

Liz N.

Yelp
Busy place with decent dim sum. We came from OC where dimsum is actually so much better. The front definitely needs more help with taking people in & managing groups. We were waiting for forever and could hear the phone ringing repeatedly with no one picking up. Restroom is also SO TINY. I was shoulder to shoulder with my friend. Parking is validated but they make you tip? It was kinda weird... For food, the hargow was big and juicy but the skin kept RIPPING!!! The xiumai is also huge and juicy! Rice rolls were standard. $165/8 people wasn't bad at all! We were stuffed.

Sally L.

Yelp
Good food & service for our dinner party last weekend. We had the whole back dining room to ourselves -- party of 40! We had Peking Duck, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Diced Beef Steak, Sautéed Broccoli, Fried Rice, Baked Pork Chops, Seafood Soup, Mango Pudding, more duck! and Deep Fried Sole. A feast for one and all!

Max S.

Yelp
SLIPPERY- not just the noodles but also the staff (it's hard to get their attention). We went for dim sum on a Sunday at noon and were seated immediately. Service was not great. You have to flag someone down and we never knew who our actual server was. Food comes out quickly once you do order. I would say service was much less than satisfactory. The food was fine however the steamed buns were skimpy on the fillings.

Grace T.

Yelp
Came here with my friend to try the dim sum. We ordered porridge, pork siomai, chicken feet, pork ribs and jelly mango with coconut milk for dessert. Everything was delicious and the price was decent. We didn't order much but we got full and wasn't able to finish All the food, so we ended up taking them to go. There is a valet parking in the back, no charge for the first 2 hours, just tip, and if you exceed 2 hours, you pay $10 flat rate. The place is cleaner than the other restaurants out there. And service was fast. Will definitely recommend!

Yelp
Standard selection of Dim Sum and they tasted decent. Dim Sum was served quickly after ordering. They were reasonable warm and not lukewarm. Serving staff were friendly and they refilled your water. There was a free parking lot at the back. The decoration made you travel back in time.

Yelp
When one typically thinks of finding good dim sum in the Greater Los Angeles area, most would assume the best restaurants are in the San Gabriel Valley. And although this is true for the most part, I was curious about the Chinatown area and how those restaurants compare. I heard from a family member that Golden Dragon was running a weekday special where items marked A, B, or C were priced at $4.60 each. And of many factors, the price was the main motivator to give them a try. I dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and was seated inside immediately. Looking around, about half of the dining room was empty. The other half had mostly elderly Chinese folks having a weekday dim sum lunch. The dining room was well decorated with small wood accents, lantern-like lights, and even custom carved chairs. With a lot of tables for 12-14 people, Golden Dragon is definitely a banquet seafood restaurant in addition to a dim sum place. **It's worthy to note that they have parking in the back of the restaurant. Definitely check that lot first before putting money into a street meter. Also keep in mind that Golden Dragon charges for tea. At the time of this review, this was $1.80 per person. Finally, remember that the $4.60 item special only applies for weekdays (Mon-Fri). On the weekends, the prices are different: A: $4.60/order B: $5.50/order C: $6.50/order D: $7.50/order But from what I've heard, this restaurant gets packed on the weekends, meaning it might be better to come on the weekdays for price AND waiting time. ** Reviewing every single item I had would take a long time. But from the items I had, the quantity was just as good as the best dim sum spots. And at the price of $4.60 for pretty much every item ordered, the price to portion was a steal! If on the more frugal side looking to get some dim sum, definitely check this place out! Dim sum items will start at $6-7 at most places in our high-inflation world, making this place very competitive. The dim sum was some of the best I've had in the surrounding area. And from everything I tried, there weren't any bad dishes in particular. I personally liked the Spareribs with Black Bean Sauce for the sponginess of the meat, the Beef Tripe for the chewy texture, the Chicken Feet for the rich and sweet flavor, the Shao Mai for the soft pork, and the Beef Noodle Rice Rolls for the flavorful beef and moist rice noodle. The Beef Balls, Shrimp Rice Rolls, and Steamed Tofu Skin Rolls were great as well, but just not the best I've had. For a Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown serving up dim sum, the food is no question five stars out of five. The weekday special price is by far the BEST in the area when looking from a price to portion perspective. In addition, the food tastes as authentic as you can get it in. And as I always say: If you are questioning if a place is good, look for the amount of older Asian folks in the restaurant. They'll more than likely know where all of the great places for authentic dim sum are. For those who aren't familiar with Cantonese restaurants, come prepared for passive service and not very clean restrooms. But really, you're coming for the social dining experience and great food. In all, I'll definitely be back at Golden Dragon in the near future! Great all around!

Yelp
Food was somewhat bland, but came in good proportions. Service was quick and professional. Could be spicier.

Yelp
Haven't been to China Town in years. But I heard it was a great chinese restaurant, a locals favorite. The food was excellent. You can bring your own wine. Parking was easy and you get validated for the first 2 hours.

Yelp
Food is delicious . Service not so much. Sometimes plates and cups look dirty. So be on the look out. And don't be shy to ask for a clean one.

Yelp
This 100% wasn't the cleanest restaurant (can't say much about the kitchen) floors were dirty, outdated, bathrooms (don't even bother). But upon entry there were decent amount of people I. Here so we decided to try it. Service was not bad we were seated instantly. The only reason for the 3 stars were the house special lobster was AMAZING!!! The dim sum was standard nothing crazy. The pork chop was so soft it felt uncooked but I'm no expert. But decided to not eat it anyway. My partner ate it and said he was fine. Overall not the worst Chinese I've had but not the best. Great place to come for fast food if you're hungry

Yelp
Wanted some Dim Sum in LA Chinatown and recognized this restaurant from my childhood. This place appears to be unchanged from the 70s, it's one of the larger restaurants still able to hold large banquets, it's low ceilinged, has wooden ornate decorations, and an old style charm with employees speaking primarily Cantonese and English. We went on a Monday and ordered off a checklist menu, just mark and turn it into the waiter. All Dim Sum plates in the A, B, and C categories are $4.60 Monday thru Friday, and no charge for tea. Probably higher for both food and tea on the weekends. We had: - Chicken Feet which were plump and surprisingly tasty. All of the digits property fell apart meaning it was correctly prepared and not under cooked. - Fried Meat Dumpling which was thick skinned and had plenty of tasty filling but we wish it was hot out of the fryer. - Siu Mai that was steaming hot and had good flavor. - Seafood and Chive Steamed Dumpling which was stuffed was tasty although the skins stuck a little to the was paper in the steamer. - Pork and 1000 Year Old Egg Jook or Porridge, where else can you get a bowl in a large dim sum restaurant for $4.60? Not many places and we got at least 4 full servings from the bowl. Best comfort food ever. - Baked BBQ Pork Bun, three to an order and has a very sticky exterior with sufficient filling. Overall, we didn't expect much going to this old school Dim Sum restaurant that's been around forever, the place was relatively quiet, not loud like a Monterrey Park or Arcadia Dim Sum house, but the service was very good, all dishes had the correct flavor profile, and weekday prices were fair and affordable. Parking in the rear is a plus.

Yelp
This is an amazing dim sum spot in beloved Chinatown! Service was very good and they are responsive. Didn't have to wait long on a Sat morning for dim sum. The food was delish and shu mai size was on point. Dip it in the yellow mustard and chili and oh my! Heaven! The environment was spacious and very Chinese. Loved the atmosphere with the rosewood and Asian art! Parking was easy too! Come try you'll love it!

Yelp
Dim Sum at this spot left me with more disappointment than satisfaction. The food was average at best, with the shumai being the only highlights of an otherwise forgettable meal. I had high hopes for the shumai, but they were just "mid"--nothing special. To make matters worse, the service was rude and unapproachable. After taking our initial order, our waiter vanished, leaving us without a chance to try dessert. Quality and flavor are what I seek in a dim sum restaurant, and this place delivered neither. For the price, I expected much more. The blandness of the dim sum here doesn't even hold a candle to the spicy wontons at DTF, which is saying something since that's the only thing I'll order there.

Yelp
The food is always amazing here ! The service is very quick. We usually just go for dim sum express order and pick up as they usually get very busy for lunch and dinner. Though the decor can use a little TLC we never shy away because it adds to the authentic environment and feel good homey feeling.

Yelp
The place is a dump so don't come here if you want fancy. BUT, the food is delicious and highly recommend. Loved the shrimp dim sum on the appetizer menu and the pork dim sum. Everything we had was delicious so can't go wrong.

Yelp
WTF Golden Dragon Restaurant??!! Seriously, WTF??! After hours of exploring Chinatown my family and I were in dire need of some refueling. I hop on Yelp & stumble upon GDR. At 3.5 stars and well over 900+ reviews, i definitely thought I found a winner. Upon entering you hear a whole lot of clinging, clanging, & chatter. Typical noise and feel you would get at your average Chinese restaurant. Nobody was manning the front and I took it upon myself to enter and flag one of the employees. A lady finally comes out and tells us to wait some more before finally seating us. We are seated with plates and chopsticks but no menu. We sit around some more, thinking someone was going to return and they didn't. I request for a menu from one of the dim sum ladies and she walks away mumbling something in Chinese. A menu is eventually brought out and no one is available to take our order. **At this point I'm pretty irritated because nobody has their ish straight and i'm melting away in an uncomfortably hot restaurant** We, AGAIN, have to flag someone down and ask them if we can place our orders. I cut back our items to simplify our order: fried rice, 2 kinds of dumplings, & chicken feet. Food eventually comes out. Fried rice was good, the dumplings were okay, but the chicken feet flavoring was gross. There was also a delay in our sodas being brought to the table. 1 star but I wish I could give NONE!! Customer service is nonexistent until the bill comes out. That's when you get the "thank you very much" and the "everything okay??" Golden Dragon is not recommended in any shape or form. Spare yourself from grief, wasted calories, & sitting in uncomfortable heat. This place is an absolute disaster!

Yelp
Feels like a restaurant out a movie and that I have been transported to the 80s. Great place to coke and dine alone or with friends. The service is super fast. Food is delicious. Servers also come to your table with other food items and ask if you would like to try. Such a cool experience.
