All the Restaurant Closings in Austin, May 2025 | Eater Austin

"An Austin chocolate shop announced closure of its North Austin location on May 31 and the end of curbside pickup at its South Austin spot on June 20, citing severe climate-related disruptions to cacao-producing regions that have led to crop losses and steep price increases, compounded by delays in kitchen construction; the brand is exploring a return by finding a new kitchen and restructuring its business model." - Courtney E. Smith

Best New Austin Restaurant Recommendations From Eater Editors | Eater Austin

"I ordered a themed box tied to Taylor Swift’s new album and Golden Eye’s chocolates are gorgeous, colorful, and delicious — the Lavender Haze tasted like a tart meringue pie in chocolate form and the nutty Tortured Peanuts Department was inventive and fun; these are great treats for yourself or others." - Nadia Chaudhury

Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings

"You might recognize the Golden Eye name if you’re a chocolate enthusiast—they’ve been offering custom orders and doing pop-ups in the Austin area for a while. And now there’s a retail store on West Anderson Lane. This is one of the few places in town to get premium, handmade chocolates that look like they could have been set pieces from Wonka, minus the magical side effects. " - nicolai mccrary

New Chocolate Store Golden Eye Chocolates Opens in Austin | Eater Austin

"Opening at 3010 West Anderson Lane, Suite E in the North Shoal Creek neighborhood on Saturday, January 27, Golden Eye Chocolates is a new retail shop from former Chocolaterie Tessa staffers Lynde Mitchell and Jess Morrisey. I found the shop is all about decadent chocolates in classic and fun flavors made with European and American chocolates—examples include pumpkin bread, aged eggnog, passionfruit caramel, the banana-rum “There’s Always Rum in the Banana Stand,” Champagne Problems, and classic chocolates in varying dark percentages. When developing flavors Mitchell encouraged Morrisey to "go wild," resulting in tricky confections like Mitchell’s Coconut Club (her take on a Mounds bar that required a longer-lasting ganache) and Morrisey’s three-layer raspberry cheesecake with carefully balanced raspberry jelly, cream cheese ganache, and graham-cracker crust. Chocolates will be available a la carte and boxed, and the shop will also sell spreads, barks, lollipops, and chip-style takes. Golden Eye started in 2021 making pickups at Ghostline Kitchens; the McKinney pickup location will remain open when North Shoal opens. The name references a Central Texas flower and the goldeneye duck. Future plans include a production-room window and build-your-own box sets by October, and they’re considering offering ice cream scoops by Merry Monarch. Hours will be noon–6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and the opening day will feature a noon–6 p.m. party with tastings, music, and drinks." - Nadia Chaudhury

We ordered about 90 three piece boxes of Golden Eye chocolates as favors for our wedding, and guests raved about how delicious they were - not to mention beautiful! They have so many flavors to accommodate different dietary needs and tastes. The staff I interacted with were lovely too.

Went in to snag a couple of after dinner bonbons, wound up talking to the owner Lindy for 20+ minutes. The entire experience is incredible. From the moment you walk in the decor and music is all a buildup the most sensational bite of chocolate. Local businesses like this deserve all the praise, someone who puts their passion into a treat that is truly special.

I got a seven piece dark chocolate box and was super impressed with all of the flavors, particularly passion fruit and the mint. The mint tasted like truly fresh mint, so good!! I will definitely go back. This will be a great spot to buy gifts

Google
The place looks exquisite. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately they were sold out of what i needed so I have yet to taste their products. Next time I'll call ahead because it was a 45 minute drive.

Hidden gem. The chocolates are beautiful, delicious, and make a wonderful gift. High quality and worth every dollar. Golden Eye has the best bonbons in the area.

Yelp
What a cute chocolate shop! I ordered a build your own box online and got to pick the exact flavors I wanted. They do have the option of premade boxes as well. The person I spoke with over the phone to inquire about the process was super friendly! They turned around my small order in a day. I was able to visit the shop when I picked it up. It's small but cute, and the person at the counter explained their plans to expand. I'm looking forward to being able to see the chocolate made live! I'm not sure how I first learned about the place, but where it is situated back in the corner is a little hard to find, so I would understand if people are also not aware it's here. I will definitely be coming back for gifts for others and of course treats for myself.

Yelp
Fantastic! Delicious works of art! And the presentation is first-class. Excellent for gifts. I ordered 30 boxes for a special event and the Golden Eye team delivered them. I will be back!

Yelp
First the chocolate: there is nothing wrong with it, but that's about it. This place does make the best presentation out of chocolate. They are all gorgeously painted with I guess, colored sugar. So if you want to impress someone with a gift of chocolate, this is the place to go.

Yelp
I came here today which seems to be the opening day for this location! They had free chocolate tastings and free drinks/beer which I thought was really nice! I had a chance to try their matcha latte, coconut, and chai chocolates. They were all SO smooth and lovely; they have a very smooth creamy texture with flavors blended all the way into the filling and shell so that they taste extremely rich but VERY much taste like the flavors they represent. The folks working at the shop were also very nice! What I do want to point out are the prices... these chocolates are some of the most expensive I've seen in a long time ($12 for 3 pieces, $42 for 12 pieces, $96 for 30ish pieces). I was pretty floored by that; I was thinking about buying a box of 12 before I saw the price but then decided to hold off since I felt that would be too expensive a gift for the person I was looking for something for. However, though they are expensive, these chocolates are LOVELY. Like some of the prettiest and tastiest I've seen - plus they're all hand made here in Austin (to give credit where it's due). So while I do think the prices are pretty high, I definitely think anyone that likes sweets/pretty things would be thrilled to receive a box of these chocolates.

Yelp
Cute shop tucked away in the plaza. But don't miss it! Super nice staff, locally made, quality and really uniquely flavored chocolates. We dropped in on a whim, but will be back when we need some chocolate gifts or treats! PS my kids were obsessed with the chocolate bats and oreo truffles
