"Something about Golden House feels super familiar. The first time we visited we couldn’t quite put our finger on it, so we just pondered over our breakfast until the lightbulb went off. This place is actually Patsy’s Pies from Shameless. So come here for the pancakes, but stay for the Gallagher flashbacks. Golden House is my favorite breakfast restaurant in Chicago. I’ve been coming here since I lived around the corner a block east of the Aragon Ballroom. The same family has owned it since the mid-1980’s and are a staple of the community.

Food is great and down to earth. I love their omelets and the pancakes are fantastic. The service is also incredibly fast regardless of how busy they are. I'll continue to come back and explore their menu.

Came here in honor of the show Shameless. The food was great and the worker was friendly. They are a cash only business and have an ATM inside. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast. The hash browns were the best part! It is on the cheaper side as well.

We came here looking for something relatively simple but good nearby, but never expected based on the reviews how basic the food is. I can only describe it as sort of minimal effort. Service is friendly and it's fine that it's cash only since they have an ATM available, but not a place I would choose to visit again based on the quality of food.

Great place to get some cheap and delicious breakfast. They work really quick here and food usually comes out in 10-15 min after ordering. They are a cash only business and they provide an atm up front as well. I got their French toast and was satisfied with how they tasted - they do offer regular slices french toast if that’s your preference. Their hash browns were a bit on the moist/wet side and were closer to chunky mashed potatoes than the regular hash browns that I’m used to.

Nice staff, great atmosphere, delicious food. We got the potatoe pancakes, a waffle A-La-Mode, and a coffee. Great meal. The inside is a great break from the city and brings me back to my childhood. I love it. From the authentic diner couches and bar stools, to the mirrored walls, this place is great for pictures too, and it just feels so warm. Also, they've got bathrooms.

I had the pineapple pancakes and the Pork with mashed potatoes, gravy and bread. The pancakes were so yum! The pork though was very hard and not tasty. The service was good, and you get free coffee refills. The booths are very close to each other, so you kinda have to talk very softly. The also only take cash, not sure why. I did-not like that at all. But they do have an atm inside, according to the signs. We just walked to a chase bank atm close-by.

The soup, pancakes, and French toast here? So good!! Awesome vibes, and the service? Top-notch. I'm part of the Buena Park community board and work in real estate locally. Honestly, this spot really amps up the neighborhood. It's smack in the middle of Uptown, making it the ideal go-to for a quick breakfast or lunch. 10/10!!
