Get to Know Boston’s 2019 Restaurant Openings, One Neighborhood at a Time | Eater Boston

"This Jamaican chain originated in the Bronx borough of New York City in 1989 and has expanded to include more than 100 locations — including a few in Massachusetts — and a frozen food brand. It specializes in Jamaican patties, which are like flaky, golden turnovers filled with savory ingredients. Also on the menu: braised oxtail, jerk pork, curried goat, and various pastries. This brand new location opened in December in Dudley Square (which is being renamed Nubian Square)." - Terrence Doyle

The lady cashier has anger issues. She speaks to customers very poorly . I have been visiting this place for almost a year now and been very observant of her. She needs to be enrolled into anger management class and some customer service training. You cannot be the first point of contact with such a poor demeanor. On the positive side the food tastes great and I haven't had issues with all the food I have bought over the period.

1st time eating these from the frozen aisle in H-E-B Houston, TX and there was a foreign object in this patty. It resembles rubber. 1st & last time eating Jamaican food. Now I know why people say Caribbean food is trash. Nasty.

Returned again on March 20, 2025. Ordered the black chicken, cabbage and mac&cheese. As usual I enjoyed my meal! The service was great by a gentleman who was upbeat, humorous and very polite! Returned October 4, 2024 for my after doctor treat since I lost some more weight. I got the BBQ Chicken and Oxtails both with the Calalou, Rice & beans, and plantains. LOVED IT! Returned on April 23, 2024. There was a new woman there who greeted me with a pleasant smile and demeanor. We chatted for awhile. She brightened my day. This time I took pictures before I ate the Jerk chicken and oxtails! I was there December 1, 2023 10 AM. Ordered the Jerk Chicken and Oxtails, both with collard greens and peas & rice to go. It was all good, seasoned well, the Oxtails fell of the bone and were tender. The Jerk chicken could have been spicier for me, but I enjoyed it. The young lady there was polite, asked me what I wanted and how I would like it. I was able to get my order quickly, but not rushed. I was living right because 2 minutes after crossing the street my bus came! I ate half of the Jerk Chicken for lunch and half of the Oxtails for dinner. Thank you for the good food and pleasant service. I truly appreciated it. Going back tomorrow and trying something different. I'll try to pause to take pics, but I can't promise anything.😆😂😉

Inconsistent, Service is decent Food is up and down. For example, they didn't bothering rendering any of the fat on the oxtails. So it's covered in fat and hard to remove from the bone. Normally when you're very hungry anything tastes good but I'm disappointed. Other days the food is decent but I will be trying other locations.

My sister and I ordered a few things, from oxtail with rice, shrimps, mac and cheese, and fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The rice had a spice. I was not a fan. Coco bread with beef patty was delicious. I am usually not a fan of coco bread but serve warm it changed my mind of coco bread.

My problem is that you can't call ahead, they move around at a distracted snails pace and is not cheap. Also no dine in. I'm a personal shopper and I like to get in & out quickly but this establishment doesn't allow me to do so. I have several clients who order here, so I guess it tastes good, though I have never eaten anything from here before.

The store has just been renovated. This review is based on their new renovated store. The store looks nice and new but I did not like the price increase. Med Curry chicken went from 9.25 to 10$ a few months ago now they raised the price to $12.50! I can't afford to eat here now more it's sad. The food was absolutely delicious! The curry chicken was best in the Bronx and possibly all of NYC! Amazing freshness and amazing flavor! I will recommend this store but it's a bit pricey. Food was excellent!

Yelp
They have renovated the place. The Menu board is now electronic. You can pay with credit/debit cards and Apple/Andriod pay. The layout has been changed as well. Even the food items are more. I like the jerk chicken. I would recommend the shrimps. The patties are always spot on. New staff and they are all amazing, two have been there for a long time. The bbq chicken is so yummy. Also, they have more side dishes now.

Yelp
Man I had a large chicken soup today and got 4 damn potatoes, 3 pieces of chicken carcasses and 2 small dumplings. It's my fault I keep going to this damn place for some soup. One thing I did realize though is if you not Jamaican or don't have a vagina you not getting shit. Like the lady below said the cashier keeps flirting around and when he sees a dude his smile turns into a frown. No more, today was the last day. Avoid this place people, except the ladies...y'all can get whatever you desire in this place. Please take advantage.

Yelp
This location is awful! I was overcharged for a small Jerk Chicken and mac and cheese. I barely got jerk chicken, it was ALL bones. The cashier kept flirting with the girl in front of me, you can tell she was uncomfortable. She even tried to tell the guy to take my order to divert his attention, luckily my husband popped up on me before this guy can even start his I'll attempt at flirting. Golden Krust should really train their staff on harassment and work place etiquette before they get sued.

Yelp
I haven't lived in the Caribbean in a few years, but having a place that sells Tropical Rhythms and Bigga, near work, fills me with nostalgia.

Yelp
Thank you chef's and servers at this wonderful food chain. I frequent here whenever I crave true Jamaican soul food, which is about once a week. The oxtail, cabbage and rice and peas are my favorite. The curry goat is to die for. The beef patties are always delish. The rotti is exceptional. I can go on and on and on. Everything is fresh, and if you desire a spectacular soup, this is the place; you'll hate yourself if you don't order a large one. I'll never make that mistake again. lol In fact, I don't usually eat there, I prefer to stock up, and eat mine's in the comfort of my home. The staff are warm, friendly and are extremely helpful. Can't say enough good things about this place. Whether you're familiar with Jamaican's finest foods or not; this is the place to be, you will not be disappointed. Be sure and ask for extra napkins.... lololol

Yelp
Golden Krust makes decent Jamaican Beef Patties. My favorite from them is their spicy patty, which although it isn't too hot, it has decent flavor. They also have more exotic filings (ox tail), but I'm not that adventurous to try those. If you want to try Golden Krust, but don't want to travel to the Bronx, try their stand in the Lower Level of Grand Central Terminal, right next to track 105.

Yelp
ATTITUDE, ATTITUDE, is the only thing you get at this place. The food is horrible. Rice is dry and hard, like it has barely been cooked. The chicken patties made me sick on two occasions. I don't know what is the difference between this location's ingredients and that of the Original Golden Krust on Gun Hill Road. Only those who don't know real Jamaican food go to Golden Krust.

Yelp
I love JA food but the rice isn't the best here, everything else was, when I say everything I mean everything. I tend to drown the rice in oxtail sauce. Oh also the patties are only best in Brooklyn
