The food here was excellent!! I visited here with my vegetarian friend and I cannot speak highly enough about the Pho Chay specifically-- BEST veggie broth I have ever tasted. Everything we had was fantastic The service felt homey, cozy and we were well taken care of by the kind man working there. He was attentive to details and made good recommendations for us. Next time I'm in San Francisco I will definitely return!

Delicious food at decent prices. Really enjoyed their Bird's Nest chow mein, paratha veggie wraps and the egg cake they serve on the side of the rice plates! Many vegetarian options. Great service. BTW, this Golden Lotus is unrelated to the one in downtown Oakland.

Came here twice and I tried the beef pho and the chicken pho and they were both very solid. The service is always fast and friendly, the only downside is the area is a little sketch.

Phonomenal pho. Unlike my puns, Golden Lotus is actually good. Large portions for cheap prices, cordial owners and the meatiest pho in Little Vietnam. And they accept credit card. Large pho came out to be $10.20 with tax. edit. Came back after years and the pho is still great. Ordered a #3 (rice roll with pork and herbs) as well and it was super good. Everything was very fresh. Owner(?)(the guy working the front) was very nice and started the meal by offering free hot tea.

Simply delicious! We actually walked by this place after picking up our usual Pho fare from Pho2000 next door last week. I think this may be our secret gem. It doesn't seem very busy and their menu is pretty much the same as the other Pho joints around but the difference is in the details. We ordered takeout: Pho Dat Biet and Bun Rieu. The ingredients felt more fresh and the soups are more flavorful. The phos before this place seem to be watered down or more bland in comparison. For the Bun Rieu, they put more ingredients like actual cooked tomatoes (so sweet) and shrimps (deveined and all). The minced pork is not just floating around; they are like meat balls and easier to eat. The wait is very short 5-10 min. Overall, great experience!

COME HERE. It is a no-frills restaurant. But, the moment you walk in there is someone to greet you and seat you immediately. The menu has a lot of options, and the portions were very large. I ordered a fish Pho large which was only a dollar more than the small. Definitely order the large, the difference in size is totally worth the extra dollar. This place is good, to the point, well priced, and great portions I recommend anyone come here to stop in for an authentic authentic Vietnamese meal.

I haven't eaten viet food in the TL since Turtle Tower closed, but my friend and I decided to come in while we were in the area and we were not disappointed. It's a no frills establishment in not the best neighborhood, but it was clean inside and the owner was friendly and welcoming. We each had a small bowl of pho dac biet (comes with all the meat options) and ordered the banh cuon to share. For a $15 bowl, it was a good portion that came with a lot of meat, especially compared to some other pho restaurants, and the broth was clean and didn't leave me guzzling water at the end of the meal. I was impressed by how tender the flank was and how flavorful the brisket was. While it wasn't the most complex broth, I definitely prefer it over those that are super oily and heavy. My one complaint is that the broth could've been hotter, but it was still good nonetheless. The banh cuon was also delicious - the texture of the roll was perfect, and I'm an absolute sucker for lemongrass pork. However, if you're a fellow cilantro hater, the menu doesn't say it but it does have cilantro. I was originally trying to pull it out and ended up just unrolling it to remove the cilantro, and the owner saw me struggling and asked if I wanted it remade which was so nice T_T thankfully there was no lingering flavor once removed so I declined, but I really appreciated that he offered. Considering the price point, portion, and quality of food, I would definitely come back to satisfy my pho cravings. The owner also greeted several customers who sounded like regulars, so you know others find it to be a reliable spot as well. Don't let the TL stop you from enjoying delicious food from a local business!

Best pho with fresh small flat noodles and the most flavorful broth. I always order the beef combo and the service is fast and staff are kind. I love that this location is locally owned and this business has funded the owner's kids through college. They are also one of the few pho places that open at 9am. Prices are standard and a little pricier than normal but it's legit and a no frills establishment. The area is bit sketch but worth the trek because the meal is always satisfying. If you come here, it will feel sketchy because there are lots of people around doing things that won't make you feel safe. However, once you get inside and eat your food, you'll realize this is one of the few places left that's homey and cheap. The pho was nice and large and actually had too much meat relative to the noodles. The owners are nice. If you set your expectations of this being a place where you can get good cheap pho and understand there's a reason it's cheap, you'll be happy

Located in the heart of the Tenderloin area, some may find it not that appetizing as you'll need to find street parking with parking meters that either don't work, or very dirty. If you are lucky to find parking you're greeted with a strong pungent unpleasant aroma created by humans and their by product. But once you make your way inside the restaurant, the environment gets lot better. The workers here are friendly and attentive with great food at great price that's unheard of in this era. This place had more than the traditional Pho with lot of good ol' Vietnamese comfort food. Didn't try all but the ones we tried are spot on. Their chicken wings are tasty but I prefer wingettes. Their pho was plenty and favorable. The Pho in this area is a dying industry. Although the exterior ambiance may be less than ideal, this place is worth the trip.

This was my second time here, and it was even better than the last. A really tasty broth pho with yummy fresh noodles and the service was extraordinary. He kept checking I was okay. Was $16 total with tip, which is fair for the area. Very clean and white background so looks nice, much nicer than outside. I would have like more veggies but probably could have just asked for more.

We came during lunch hours on a Saturday and were quickly attended to. The service was friendly and food arrived shortly after placing our order. I was pleasantly surprised to see they offered Cá Kho Tộ and Bánh Xèo on their menu, which I don't often see. The good was great and was the perfect fix for our Vietnamese food craving.

I'm often told by locals that there aren't any good Pho spots in the City. Key word Pho, so that's what we are focusing on. My go to spot, Pho 2000 right up the street was closed on Tuesday and I just needed a big bowl of Pho to get through the cold and commute. Conveniently I'm in Little Saigon for this. I dropped by here instead, looking for a large chicken pho. I'm simple, nothing too crazy. Just a nice large bowl of Pho. At first, they serve you a big glass of tea. Not a cup of tea, a big glass. That was a green flag already. The waiter was super chill, friendly, and fast with taking your order. I received my pho in less than 7 minutes. Place is spacious, has plenty of seating. Broth was what I needed for the night. Broth had a ton of flavor and I didn't need to add anything else to enhance the broth, but when I had the noodles; they were way more fresh than the spot I go to up the street. This surprised me because I would always pass by Golden Lotus. They used big pieces of chicken in the pho, and had a nice consistency to every piece. They did not skimp on the chicken, all pieces in the broth was consistently good! Definitely was blown away from the quality of Pho I got. Now I'm not Vietnamese to tell you if this was authentic or not, so I'll let you be the judge of that. I preferred this bowl over Pho 2000. It had a good ratio of everything. I paid $17.90 in total for a large Pho, and a sprite on the side. I will be coming back soon.

I love Golden Lotus! The pho comes in two styles- thin or thick noodles and the broth is always rich. My favorite part of the restaurant though is the man who runs it. He always remembers me and has warm greetings even though I don't go that often (maybe once a month.) He chases after patrons who left an umbrella or a jacket in the restaurant to return their belongings even if it's raining and generally has a warm, kind demeanor. Eating here sometimes feels like eating at a friend's place.

Forever craving pho when hungover so walked to this place near my new apartment. The area is a little spicy but manageable during the day on a Sunday with lots of people walking around. The pho was okay. The broth was good but I felt that the cut of meat was wrong and it was already fully cooked in the soup. Typically with pho tai you get raw slices of steak that cook in the soup so they're not over cooked. This meat had a bit of fat and muscle in it so didn't like that it was a different cut. Also, the noodles were the thick kind of pho noodles. I know these are used in different parts of Vietnam and are a regional thing but I like the thin noodles better. I need to learn the names for the different type of noodle so I can ask before ordering when going to a new pho place! The imperial rolls were amazing though. Super crispy and yummy and love when they give you fresh herb and lettuce to wrap in! The family that owns this restaurant was sooo nice with amazing service. They seemed to know and remember everyone that walked in the door which was very sweet. They definitely put in the extra effort to make their customers feel welcome and at home. Would come again just for the thoughtful service!

I found this place a few years back when my favorite place was closed. Since then,...I have not been back to my "favorite place". Golden Lotus is exactly what you want it to be. When you come to Larkin Street for pho, this IS the experience. Small clean space, authentic great food, always friendly service. Best pho in the city, IMHO. They open at 9:00, and I like to go early...My go-to pho is 特別牛肉粉 Pho Dac Biet -combination of Rare Steak, Flank, Brisket, Tripe, Tendon, and Meatballs. it is accompanied by a plate of fresh veggies: lots of basil, mint, leafy greens, bean, sprouts, lime wedges, and slices of jalapeño pepper. That along with a Vietnamese iced coffee...is something I will come back for over and over. My photos do not do this place any justice.

This was not our original destination as my friend sought a quick bite before we caught a lecture in the area. The two more popular places were closed, one permanently known for their chicken pho and the other corner spot was closed for that week (learned after going to their website). We walked in shortly before 6 pm and there were two occupied tables. We sat towards the middle of the dining room close to the cash register. The owner/manager was on the phone having difficulties in taking an order as the caller did not describe what he wanted clearly. After studying the menu, we both ordered pho, being a typical chilly and windy Tuesday night in May. I used the provided Sriracha and Hoisin sauce in dipping the chicken pieces for more flavor diversity. My generous friend paid for my meal but, from my memory of the menu, the prices are wallet friendly. We were asked for our drink preference and both of us opted for cold water prior to the meal. As we left, a couple more parties came in and dined and there was a steady flow of solo customers picking up takeout orders. Solid choice if you're looking for a quick, economical meal in the area.

Golden lotus has become my go to pho place in sf. Prices are decent and the pho is pretty good. The one appetizer you HAVE to get is the banh cuon thit nuong, aka rice rolls with lemongrass pork. It's soo good I could eat just this. I get the beef ball pho and my boyfriend gets the pork & imperial roll vermicelli bowl. The pho noodles are thicker than normal ones, but it's still really good. The broth is really light, sometimes a little too light but it's still worth coming back to. Service is always attentive and helpful. Always ask for the chili sauce and they'll give you their homemade chili sauce which is so good with their pho. Pro tip: ask for their chili sauce. They don't keep it on the tables so you have to ask for it. It's a lemongrass chili oil kind of sauce. So good!

Just north of the Tenderloin, this is a cleaner place in the area. The raw beef pho I had was very nice; both the raw beef part & pho part. The father is Cantonese, mother is Vietnamese and the son only speaks Vietnamese and English.

This is legit an amazing bowl of Pho I've had in a very long time. Veggies are fresh, simple, and flawless as well. Ambiance: 4.5/5 - A small mom-and-pop shop located on Larkin in the Tenderloins. The interior is a bit smaller than expected, but bight, spacious, and well-kept. The restroom is sparking clean and no bad odor or smell to it either. It beats most of the Vietanmese restaurants located in the Richmond district. There's a lot of pictures of food dishes from the menu on all sides of the wall. Golden Lotus is right next to Pho 2000, and I think this place is better in terms of atmosphere and vibes. Price: 4.5/5 - My boyfriend and I both got the large Pho Dac Biet for $12.50 each. The total came up to be around $27 after tax. The portions are great with top-notch ingredients and broth. This is straight up one of the best value Pho you can find in SF overall, definitely getting that bang of the buck here. Service: 4.25/5 - Our server was friendly, kind, and attentive; our water glass is always full. Although, I think there's only two staffs, the food came out really fast, like within 10 minutes after we place our order. Server was nice, down-to-earth, and she let us know that the default noodles was the thicker kind, and I was able to switch it out to the standard pho noodles. Overall, experience was seamless and easy, exceeded my expectations for such a hole-in-the-wall place. BLUF: My new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SF. No-frills restaurant with lots of options, delicious food, great portions, fantastic people, and reasonable price points. Also, this may be in the Tenderloins, but inside is so clean; I almost forgot I was in the sketchy part of SF. Please come to Golden Lotus and get yourself a bowl of the Pho Da Biet, and you will appreciate every single bite of it. I recommend anyone in the area to stop by for an authentic Vietnamese meal and experience.

Update: finally came here in person. One of the best Bo tai chanh but also the grossest pho and bun Bo hue in San Francisco. The broth for the pho had zero pho flavors and seems like it was just water and msg. The pho noodles were not real pho but some weird wide flat noodles. The bun Bo hue had the right vermicelli but the broth was also water and msg. There wasn't a hint of bun Bo hue or any spices. It's weird how the Bo tai chanh was so good and yet both these signature dishes are misses. Come here for Bo tai chanh but DO NOT order pho or bun Bo hue. It was offensive how it was made.

Searching for a pho spot since I moved here. Decided to give this place a shot since it was only a few minutes away from . I ordered the imperial rolls and number 21 Pho bowl which included a combination of meats. The imperial roll was excellent, so tasty. The pho was okay, it wasn't as rich in flavor as I expected. The service was excellent and the vibes in the restaurant was chill. They give you a cup of tea which is exactly what I needed since it was cold out.

Placed a huge dinner order the day of for a party. They did a fantastic job wrapping everything and serving it to us in party trays. Amazing food at an affordable price. with many pho restaurants nearby this restaurant is amazing the customer service is great the food has immaculate flavor and it's pretty affordable if you are around the tenderloin this is the spot my favorite dishes are banh cuon thit nuong the fried calamari and of course the beef pho.

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SF. The rice rolls are so good! I've never had anything like it. The meat is perfectly cooked and not dry. Packed with herbs and spices. It's also very clean tasting and pairs nicely with fish sauce. The pho is also very good here. They don't jip you on meat or noodles. It's actually fairly good sized. The soup is very good and warms you up. The people here are so nice. I absolutely adore the staff since they are so nice and welcoming.

Been here plenty of times before and might not be as old as some of the other Viet spots in the TL but can say this is the best spot for pho in the city in my opinion. The owner is always super nice and makes me feel at home. Sometimes I'd walk by and he'd be smiling and welcoming us to come on in to enjoy some good food! Depending on how I feel, I always get bun bo hue or pho dac biet but you really can't go wrong with either. Everything else was delicious. Bun bo hue broth is amazing and rich in flavor. Perfect for a chilly day and just enough meat and toppings for every single bite. Cha gio( imperial rolls) were perfectly fried and filling was delicious. Served with mint, lettuce, cilantro, vermicelli and fish sauce. Banh Uot was super refreshing. First time trying it and it comes with sliced cucumbers as well.

My favorite beef pho place. The broth is rich and a great star anise hint. The workers are always awesome. Love the guy behind the counter! I knew this place was a gem cause there was I week I ordered food here 3x+ within a week lol. More after. Had to stop myself. Even had brought my nit picky dad here n he enjoyed it. ** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** If I have a go-to place in Little Saigon for pho, this must be it. That wasn't always the case because I was an early Turtle Tower fan, but they close at 4PM so that doesn't work for me. Turtle Tower used to be in this space until they moved to their current space about eight years ago. Initially I wasn't that impressed, but I eventually figured out what they did best and haven't strayed from that order. I start with the $6.99 Goi Cuon because their fresh spring rolls are stuffed with shrimp and pork and wrapped snugly in the familiar translucent rice paper. It just hits the spot, especially as I dip them liberally in their thick, sweetened peanut sauce (photo: https://bit.ly/34WgFgn). I've been lured by the owner to try the $7.75 Banh Cuon Thit Nuong, a much thicker rice roll with just pork, but they end up on my hips if you know what I mean, and I don't like that. Big $ 12. Beef. Sliced thinly. Tender meat, some tendons, some tripe but not much, a slicer here and there. Broth has anise and very fragrant. Lots of green onions and bean sprouts. If you don't like green onions tell them ahead of time. They bring out a plate of bean sprouts, chili, and lime. Next time tell them just one slice of chili. Kind of wasteful. They bring a glass of tea, not fragrant at all. The server was friendly talking to every customer. Place looks clean, right at the corner alley.

My friends and I stopped by for a quick snack and got the egg rolls and spring rolls and both were so delicious. Restaurant is run by a little Asian man and he was so so so sweet and friendly, who genuinely made the experience better. I would return to this restaurant for sure.

As I was entering I was met at the door by the waiter and questioned as to my intentions. I said that I would like to order to go. I had to ask for a menu. I was not treated well and felt like I was in the deep south 1920 and yes l am a Black Man. I WILL NEVER GO BACK

Pho dac biet large. Plenty of meat, side of steak was a good portion as well, larger than normal pho Dac biet dishes. Broth lacked depth in beef and typical aromas of Star anise, cinnamon, msg, etc. was actually a bit salty. Could of used a little more noodles.

My partner and I had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Food was bomb - we shared the imperial rolls, which were huge and delicious, would definitely order again! My partner got a huge bowl of bun bo hue, and I ordered the bbq pork vermicelli bowl. Both were to die for, and we had leftovers given the large servings! Wish we lived in SF so we could frequent Golden Lotus more often! Highly, highly recommend :)

Stopped in for some vegetarian spring rolls and Bun Chat (lemongrass tofu, shiitake mushrooms, onions, and imperial rolls) - all was tasty. Kind of a rough hood. Tasty chow. Good inexpensive place to go before your show at The Regency Ballroom.

My boyfriend and I love this Vietnamese place when we're in the city. The first time we went, I was going to order egg rolls because we were craving them, but the waiter very forcefully said, "No, you don't want that. You want banh cuon thit nuong" and gestured to a post on the wall which indicated it was an award winning dish. He was right. It was amazing. Now we go to this place whenever we're in the area to order that specific dish. Go here! Great staff, atmosphere, and food.

Golden lotus never disappoints. Every time we go there, we have the best service. They are currently doing indoor dining which I very much appreciate since taking pho to go is just never the same as eating it at the restaurant. Golden lotus is my favorite place to have the lemongrass pork rolls. They are so amazingly delicious and the sauce it comes with makes it that much better. We usually order two order because we like to have leftovers for the next day. I usually order the rare steak pho and usually get another pho order with either a combo of everything or rare steak and meatballs. The broth is so flavorful and warm and the noodles are perfectly soft. They really know how to make a good bowl of pho. Their location is not great as it's in the tenderloin, but I can't tag them for that cause the food is always top notch.

I love their Cha Gio (Imperial Roll)! # 2 in the menu. comes with glass noodle, lettuces, fresh mint leaves, and fish sauce. so you wrap the spring rolls with lettuce, add the noodles, fresh mint leaves, dip it in the fish sauce and Mmm .. delicious! and then, Pho Dac Biet (# 21 in the menu). I ordered large which was true, it was large. comes with meatballs, rare steak, flank, brisket, tripe, tendon in the bowl and bean sprouts and fresh basil on the side. broth was a bit under seasoned and kinda bland. but the bowl itself is definitely a pretty satisfying soup that I think for the money that you spend here you will absolutely get some of the best value in term of the amount of food you will get. and for dessert, I got the sweet drink with jelly, mung beans, grass jelly in coconut milk. eating here is like ordering food at a Circus. while you eat, you can also watch the clowns, junkies, and crazies on the street outside dealing drugs and screaming to the wall. a soul shattering lunch.

This is almost right next door to Pho2000 and we've been coming back here since trying our luck. We ordered Pho Dac Biet and Bun Rieu. Compared to Pho2000, the soup is just way thicker and there are actual shrimps (deveined and everything) in my Bun Rieu. How do I know the soup is better? Well, we always order large and never finish the soup so we keep the leftover soup in the fridge and the next day, the soup is jelly-like and that is a good indicator of a thick soup. That did not happen with the leftover soup from Pho2000. We've been ordering takeout and they are usually done making everything in 10min. The location might feel sketchy but the parking situation is very well organized by volunteers who will let you go through the blocked street for food pickup during street closure hours. Let's just say I hesitated to share my review of this place because I wanted it to be our little secret but they are never busy so I better play it safe and have them prosper and stay afloat during this difficult time.

This spot feels like a little tuck away in a busy street. Run by what seems to be a family, this spot had a couple of options for vegetarians. I tried the vegetarian pho which had an amazing broth, great tofu, and fresh vegetables. I really enjoyed this place and will be coming again.

COME HERE. It is a no-frills restaurant. But, the moment you walk in there is someone to greet you and seat you immediately. The menu has a lot of options, and the portions were very large. I ordered a fish large which was only a dollar more than the small. Definitely order the large, the difference in size is totally worth the extra dollar. This place is good, to the point, well priced, and great portions I recommend anyone come here to stop in for an authentic authentic Vietnamese meal.

This broth is so flavorful and this is something you should get if you love beef! The beef texture was so soft it was perfect and the amount of noodles as well and the viet ice coffee is a must but most of all THE SERVICE WAS AMAZING I'm so glad I chose the right place to go! I always come here for their pho, and today I tried their vermicelli noodle bowl. It was delicious and a generous portion for the price. The service is good, the server is attentive and kind as always. The ambience isn't the best, but gets the job done for the price.
