"I find Golden as bare-bones as a pizzeria can be, yet it has been feeding its Bronx neighborhood for around 65 years; the standing-only dining room and single slice on the counter belie how good that slice is—trim, nicely clotted with good cheese, not quite thin-crusted but crisp and tasty—and you can add pepperoni if you want, though it’s not necessary, and prices remain low." - Robert Sietsema

Really, the plain cheese slice accounts for most of its traffic, with pepperoni an optional addition. The crust is of medium weight, with middling cheese and a zesty sauce. The dining room is standing-only, and the counter routinely displays only one kind of slice, yet what a slice it is. Trim, nicely clotted with good cheese, not quite thin-crusted but crisp and tasty nonetheless. You can have some pepperoni thrown on top, but it’s not necessary.
