Great Chinese bbq spot in China town. They have a good ventilation system and it’s not too loud so you’re able to talk. Food came out quickly and it’s neat to watch it on the spin on the grill. Cooking does take a bit longer for the skewers so it’s the perfect place for a date night or catching up with friends while you wait. The eel, beef and lamb were our favorites. Meat was well seasoned and vegetables were all very fresh. The eggplant was surprisingly one of the best things we ordered. It was loaded with flavor and if you’re a garlic lover, it’s a must. Really enjoyed the marshmallows at the end of the meal.

I had heard about this place before, and someone told me it wasn’t very good for various reasons (to each their own🤣). Still, I wanted to give it a try, and guess what? It was a pleasant surprise! They had a great variety of meats, vegetables, and hot food options. My favorites were the lamb skewers (both small and big), the mushrooms, and the tofu bowl. Honestly, the food was really good overall, and I would definitely come back next time. Our waitress was also very attentive. She noticed that I dropped my cooking tool(Idk what it called and how to use it tho) and immediately brought me a new one, even though I probably wasn’t going to use it anymore lol. Great experience∶D

Good food, good price and good service! Most food that came were already seasoned and just needed to be put on the rotating grill. It's very easy self cooking and everything comes out nicely grilled. Our favorites were the chicken cartilage, beef tendon but really everything was so tasty. We couldn't tried everything though as we were so full after 4 round.

It's a fun place to try. It was crazy though that we had to wait for over 30 mins outside in the cold for a table for 2 at 10:30 PM 😅 Once our number was up, we had to wait for the table to be cleaned. Not everything was good. I personally would focus on the sliced meats instead of anything on a stick. The fried fish was very good and a rare find! Wings and cauliflowers took forever to grill, and not worth the time and effort. The shrimp was not deveined, so it was very dirty. The grilled corn on the cob had a sticky/gummy texture - not fresh.... The grill wasn't the cleanest and was quite small. I feel that the size of the grill is not suitable for more than 2 people.... 🤦🏻‍♀️ The female waitress was way better than the male waiter... We weren't even given water to begin with, and the male waiter would throw the plate on the table. Things got better with the Chinese female waitress who tied her hair to the back; but still, not everything we ordered got to the table, and we had to constantly flag people down for water and things. I felt extremely thirsty after the meal - that's usually a sign of eating too much MSG.🤷🏻‍♀️

Great AYCE BBQ with lots of choices. $29.99 per person. Ribeye, lamb, pork belly, plus shrimp and squid — everything was fresh and flavorful. Fast service and good value for the price. Would come back!

Very unique and cool restaurant to eat at. It's all you can eat. You choose the meat and it comes out on skewers. Place the skewers on the rotating grill and it's ready to eat in 10min. They have many choices.

Literally the best Asian BBQ in Houston area. Their meat is fresh and well prepared, ready to be grilled on the fly. Modern interior design with awesome in-house environment. Great taste on music choice. Nice place to go with friends or family. Most importantly, 1) you feel no smoke! 2) your clothing won’t be smelly when you finish eating. Most bbq places fail on 1); most cook-your-own-food places fail on 2). Highly recommended before they get too famous and their waiting list grows too long… Call for waiting time before you come.

Fun place to have a meal! We are fans!! The food was tasty, they have a great variety of meats and sides, and the service was excellent. They’re very attentive and the plates come quickly! My hubs made a makeshift thing for the pork belly - so they wouldn’t catch fire on the grill lol. New fave!

Yay another Chinese skewer restaurant in Chinatown! We have so many Korean bbq restaurants in Houston already so I was happy to see that Golden Time BBQ was serving Chinese bbq. My boyfriend came here a few months ago during their soft opening when they were selling the skewers a la carte. We visited about a week ago and noticed that they've since transitioned to an AYCE format. It's now ~ $32 per person, which is on par with other ayce bbq spots in the area these days. As for the food everything was flavorful and tender. We especially liked their beef items! Service was alright. I would return but would try to come hungrier next time. We both felt like we did not get our money's worth. Each of us ate about 10 skewers each (they used to be under $2 per skewer when it was still a la carte).

We arrived around 6 PM on a Friday and had to wait for about 30 minutes. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed. We felt like we would have never been served if we didn't actively flag someone down. It took about five minutes of waving our hands just to get someone to take our order. The skewers came out very slowly, and the grill itself was slow, too. If you get impatient, you risk eating undercooked food and getting sick. My friend had an upset stomach the next day, which we suspect was either from this or because the raw ingredients weren't very fresh. The chicken wings, in particular, were just pure, artificial-tasting spice with no other flavor. The largest lamb skewers, which you have to grill fresh, were too sweet. The meat was okay at first, but after three or four skewers, it became way too rich and cloying to finish. Also, many of the skewers were so large they couldn't even fit on the grill at the same time. Throughout the meal, no one came by to clear our empty plates. The light at our table even went out, and we had to be the ones to find an employee and ask for it to be changed. Overall, it feels like they have way too many customers and not nearly enough staff. The service was practically non-existent. Be careful if you have a sensitive stomach, as you are responsible for making sure you grill everything to a safe, proper temperature yourself.

Wait time was confusing so i asked for clarification from the host and he was extremely rude to me and my family. Was excited to try this place and now i'm immediately turned off. When he told us our wait time, my brother said "oh wow, really?" As a genuine question and he mocked my brother and said "yes ReAlLy"

Pretty solid skewer place. Service was decent but the place was packed and the food came out slow and before you know it two hours have passed and they cut you off from anymore ordering. So order a bunch to start... there's a mixed of grilled raw meats and meats that come cooked in the kitchen that come out. There's a big selection and it's AYCE. There are vents but you still come out smelling like grilled meats. They open late so that's a bonus.

Was really excited to hear that Houston finally had it's own cook yourself skewer spot, but was a little disappointed. The skewers were alright and weren't super flavorful. They also didn't have much other food options besides the skewers themselves. We did order a bowl of noodles, but it was not very flavorful or satisfying. The drinks were pretty good. Service was good and food came out in a timely manner.

It was right after midnight when I drove past Golden Times BBQ 那些年 last night. I was searching for late night snacks after seeing disappointment at Dun Huang Plaza. I saw the parking lot was half filled in front of the restaurant. I thought what the hell. Let me give it a try. I remember seeing the sign few months ago as this restaurant was about to open. I was thinking about coming here. Now it's the time. Not sure if the restaurant has been officially opened or still during soft opening. There were so many things wrong at the restaurant. My plate was dirty with black dusts. I'm curious if anyone noticed besides me. I waited 20 minutes for the soup. Okay, the dough drop soup 麵疙瘩汤 is a little labor intensive to cook. But it's easier than Gnocchi. I consider it as a perfect midnight snack from northern China. I was trying to see if I could have a normal vegetarian meal with their existing menu. There's no website or online menu. Once I scanned the QR code, it goes directly to the order form for my table. I can't share the link because it's specifically for my table, unless you want to pay for mine. The interior is decorated with modern Chinese decor and a giant monitor filled up the wall. A hidden dragon head is in the ceiling. I wasn't here to pose for Instagram but I wanted to eat something to fill my tummy.

My friends and I tried this place while in HTX for the weekend. We wanted to switch it up from other skewer places we've been and settled on Golden Time BBQ. The ambiance of this place is dark and relaxing in a way, despite it being pretty busy. We began ordering and tried an array of things. All the food was great. The seasonings and cuts of meat were perfect. There's also additional seasonings on the table for you to use. What really stood out to me was the eel. Without a doubt, 10/10. It had such a delicate texture and flavor and was surprisingly very moist. When eaten with the rice, I felt like I was having a meal from Japan. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to someone who enjoys skewers. The only down side might be that you have to actually wait for your food to cook, but it's part of the experience. We used that time to catch up with each-other and decide what we wanted to order next. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. I think the staff make or break a restaurant, and their staff was great.

This place has become a popular late-night hangout spot for good eats + drinks. Their prices are fair, and one thing I do remember is the outstanding service we got! They have a free membership that you can sign up for and get special pricing/deals which I found interesting. Compared to similar places I've been to, I think their skewer meats were decent, nothing above anywhere else I've had though, but I would come again. Their eggplant and oysters were loaded with garlic which I did not mind as a garlic lover, but something to note if you're wary of that. Overall no complaints about this place, and I think it's another good addition to the many late-night spots in Bellaire

It was 2 hours well spent here. My party of 7 spared no time getting right to the nitty gritty of the meat (literally). Lamb, beef, pork, veggies, even the bread were all chef's kiss. Trust me, don't skip out on the bread. The crispy, buttery, flakiness of it is such a treat in between the meat heavy bites. I loved the interactive aspect of this dining experience, being able to watch the skewers cook right in front of you, which doesn't take much time at all. The servers were all attentive: made sure our waters were filled, promptly cleared up all the used skewers, and checked on us multiple time. I also appreciated the little cart that was under the table; it held everything we ordered and allowed us to keep the table tidy. It does get busy during dinner time. We waited about 45 mins to be seated, but it was well worth it. There is happy hour past 9pm: buy 1 drink, get 1 free. They also give you a melona at the end to round out your meal. Such an enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. We got seated at 8pm, we only had a piece of lamb and mushrooms with water for the last hour. We had to keep reordering meat and everything else because nothing was being served to us. Not sure if it was because we're Hispanic but they were serving everyone else with BIGGER & FULLER portions. TERRIBLE service. Literally a 2 hour time limit just to be served food an hour and a half later to only have 30 minutes to SLOWLY COOK your food. HORRIBLE. All the boss could say was "I'll cover 1 Soju"

This place is such a vibe. They open 5pm-2pm specializing in skewers. We ordered a variety of beef, chicken, lamb, and veggie skewers and they were all pretty good. I love how you can just let the skewers rotate on the grill itself. The service is great as well. Food came pretty quickly after we ordered, and the servers were helpful in teaching and letting us know when some fully cooked. A special edition is we got Melona towards the end! I highly recommend coming here for some fun vibes with friends on a late night!!

I came here on a late Monday evening and it was surprisingly packed! My table ordered a variety of skewers, oysters, eggplant, eel, and a cold vegetable salad. They use a large amount of garlic on the eggplant and oysters. I'm a fan of garlic but the garlic they used wasn't particularly good... I couldn't taste any of the actual eggplant or oysters. The eel tasted standard; nice crisp and glaze. The skewers themselves tasted mainly like cumin as you would expect. Nothing here particularly stood out to me, but their prices are fair.

Delicious skewers! Love that we have this in town now after seeing it in S. Korea, and China. Keeps the food fresh and hot without having to worry about the meats getting cold. Ordering is very easy through barcode scan that pulls up the menu as well as checking out without having to wait on them to bring you the bill. They also provide perfectly mixed seasonings for customers to choose from at the table. Our favourites are the lamb skewers, pepper beef, Korean pork belly, and boneless beef short rib. The only concern is that the grill can feel really hot on the face even though they have the pull down vents...just did not feel strong enough. We brought electric hand fans to keep us cool. Definitely recommend coming with a group of friends to try different kinds of meats.

I love chinese bbq. This is grilled your own temperature you like. The meat and vegetables cooked right in front of you. You choose your own style. My husband and I don't need to fight for temperature any more. Fast and friendly service Restaurant is nice and clean. Corn cheese was a little bit too sweet but I add little bit salt. It was perfect. Highly recommended

Check in around 6 p.m. and get seated 35-40 minutes later. The food is delicious, but the service is simply inadequate. No one greets us for 15 minutes, and while the table seated at the same time has already received their orders, I have to wait for my food, which is always missing. To make matters worse, the table next to us, a group of four, gets their order right away and everything they ordered. I have to wait 30 minutes for a plate of beef I ordered, and I have to ask to see what's is happening, and guess what, the table of 4 are enjoying their second order of beef already.

Such a fun & casual concept. I checked this place out after hearing about their happy hour through some friends. They offer BOGO on ALL drinks - Beers, Soda, and SOJU (!!!) after 9pm. It's similar to Gaos which is another kabob place down the street in chinatown, but it stands out because you get to see your skewers get grilled in front of you, and all to your rare or well-done desires. The skewers also are discounted during happy hour, so I was definitely enjoying myself! I'd recommend trying out a couple skewers just to see what you like, but I personally like the Pepper beef skewer and the tongue. The grilled oysters were also huge and it was a thai garlic flavor, very spicy if you eat a chili though. All around our servers were so nice and sweet and they took really good care of us, great spot for bar eats and drinks with friends!

Amazing! Absolutely in love this place! The food was so sumptuous and had a lot of options. Service was on point. The place was filled with happy people. We came to celebrate my 45th birthday with my favorite people. We left with a full and happy belly. The concept is so much fun!

The BBQ skewers were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. Everything was beautifully presented, and the service was fantastic with great recommendations. Can't wait to come back!

Great atmosphere with a great happy hour after 9pm. Half off soju bottles and beer. Only downside is if you go with a group, cooking might a little longer.

Great concept on cooking your own skewers but just not for me. I saw a lot of great reviews so I decided to try for myself You scan the barcode with your phone and you have a variety of dishes. Each skewers were cheap $1 if you become their member and about $1-2 and change if you decide to skip out from being a member. Pretty cheap on price but you can definitely tell the quality and portion. In my opinion I didn't have a good experience. As side dishes we got: Edamame - over cooked where the pods and the membrane would fall apart. It's boiled w some herb which for me it tasted weird Spicy cucumber - good chucks of Persian cucumber and boy they are spicy!!! It also came with whole pieces of garlic which I don't like to eat raw garlic Ramen noodles - bland as hell - noodles were cook perfectly just the way I like it but the broth didn't have much taste Pickled radish - it was ok - I prefer the Korean white radish We were told for beef, lamb and chicken, eel, beef tongue skewers would take 8-10 and other dishes would take about 3-5 mins to cook and for that tiny piece of meat - all the skewers were marinated the same way. All with heavy herbs like dried oregano, thyme or rosemary. Only had 1 dipping sauce and some fried spicy condiment. Both didn't have much taste. We also ordered the lamb chunks that is served already cook and I was excited as the portion were about 1' chucks of lamb meat however both skewers had chunks that were not chewable as they served the tendon part and was marinated the same same as the other skewers. Our serve was somewhat tentative and we had to ask her to refill our water carafe I would say the $90 dinner we got for 2 best dishes was the eel and the free ice cream other than that don't think I would come back to this place

Restaurant was cute vibes. I went for happy hour drinks after 9pm. They did buy one get one free for beers and sojus. The hallasan lychee soju was so good and by far my favorite. I didn't order food this time but my friends did and they said it was good so I will definitely be back to try the food. Service was decent.

So happy that they have come and opened one in Houston. They've got so many different options for skewers. Definitely tried most, they were seasoned pretty well. Items that would have required more time to cook actually came already cooked. All you have to do is just cook it to your liking, the longer you cook it, the crispier. Food and skewers came out fast. Staff were very attentive, they came by to check several times. It's a pretty cool set up, they've got multiple booths for small or large parties.
