We usually do to-go service but decided to dine in. Party of 6. The wait was short despite the busyness. The food was absolutely delicious. Waitress was on it in serving and friendliness. The owner personally came to our table to see how everything was, if we needed anything and was so generous to randomly remove 10% from our bill. Ordered dessert to-go. Great atmosphere and establishment. Recommended and will be returning.

Google
Golden Wok was just okay overall. The food came out hot and the portions were fair, but the flavors were on the bland side and really didn’t leave much of an impression. The egg roll in particular was disappointing—it was overly oily from the deep fryer and lacked the crisp, fresh taste I was hoping for. The main dishes filled me up, but they were missing that seasoning and freshness that makes good takeout stand out. Service was fine and the restaurant was clean, but the food itself felt pretty average. Not terrible, but not a place I’d rush back to.

Google
Tasty food, large servings, and our server, Arturo, was extremely attentive and on it through the meal. We've returned several times, and I've always had good service. I enjoy the food and love the style of their Sweet and Sour sauce. What keeps me from going to a 5th star is the fried batter items (like orange, sweet and sour, or sesame) are often tough and hard to chew but also have more gristle than I would like. Among the desserts, I prefer the more American style of sweets, so even though I don't typically like chocolate, the Chocolate Fantasy is my favorite. The Banana Spring Roll and Sesame Seed Balls have too much savory and uname flavors.

Google
As an authentic Cantonese, this restaurant is totally Mexican-style cantonese food. About the food,lol..Wonton soup has just 1 woton and half Expired vegetables. excuse me???what is it? The flavors are very unauthentic, the pronunciation of the menu is unauthentic, and the funniest part is the painting on the entry door, which is in Chinese-Fu Lu Shou Quan, means lucky and treasure, but the lady is even a non-Asian. What I didn't realize is that one of the two paintings in the restaurant is called Empress Dowager Cixi, a Chinese sinner, no one would hang her in a restaurant, the person who founded this restaurant is definitely not authentic Chinese,Just think of the flavor. The cups are completely dirty! The food was super slow.

Google
Bug found in food. Unfortunately will not be returning for in dining and also takeout. Manager offered refund, but super disappointing as food is consistent.

Google
First time here and I loved it food amazing great customer service.

Google
I Love Egg Foo Yung, it isn't on the hard menu but it is on line. ASK FOR IT, you'll be glad you did! It comes with white rice. Spicy Calamari is excellent, ask for sauce on the side & you are golden! Combination Fried Rice is Yummy! Mongolian Chicken, this was a first for me. Hunny-Bunch really enjoyed it. Comes with white rice. This place is a home run, slam dunk, go to for great food. Super glad we went.

Google
I don’t even know where to begin, but let’s start with the fact that I waited what felt like three presidential terms for my order, only to open the box and discover… EMPTY. WONTONS. Yes. You read that correctly. These weren’t wontons — they were air pockets wearing wonton cosplay. Whoever folded these little dough balloons must’ve been on a personal mission to ruin my night because there was not a SINGLE trace of filling. Not a crumble. Not a whisper. Not even the MEMORY of meat. I bit into one and heard the sound of my own disappointment echoing inside the hollow shell. I’ve had fortune cookies with more substance. And let me tell you — I didn’t just order this for fun. My cousin is literally sick in the hospital, STARVING, counting on this food like it was going to be their comeback meal. I thought I was about to deliver comfort… instead I showed up with crispy envelopes full of NOTHING. Imagine trying to explain to a hungry, sick person that the wontons you waited an eternity for are as empty as my soul after opening that box. Im extremely disappointed.

Yelp
We got our meal to go. I had the House Special Wonton Soup. The soup was very good & there also was a large bag of crispy wontons to add to the soup. My spouse had his favorite, the lunch special lemon chicken. It was tasty as usual paired with his favorite the pork fried rice.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was waaaaay too salty tonight. Super disappointed. We ordered the pot stickers as an appetizer and I ordered a wonton soup as my meal. The soup came out first and then my husband's combination fried rice came out. No potstickers to be seen. They finally brought out the potstickers after we were almost done with the meal. The restrooms were disgusting. What in the world is going on with Golden Wok?? It used to be so good! (Sad face)

Yelp
Came with family today, and loved it all! We were really surprised by the size of the daily special plates. Especially the pricing and sizes of the combo special plates. Great size & great deal. Nobody was able to finish theirs. Egg drop soup was delicious, and service was fast and courteous. The server kept our glasses filled and got all of our little requests fulfilled very quickly. The feel of the restaurant is elevated and elegant, but also is very comfortable without feeling "stuffy".

Yelp
I haven't really found my Chinese spot yet here since moving out here a couple years ago now that I've gone here it's really good. The fried rice wasn't bad the chow mein I wasn't really a fan of it has more vegetables than noodles and the noodles kind of different than what I'm used to. The beef and broccoli was amazing the sauce was great. The beef was tender and the broccoli was nice. The sesame chicken I really liked as well. The flavors were all there. Service was really good. You definitely feel that you're welcome. You know I didn't really get that Chinese vibe going into the restaurant but it's still really good. My family enjoyed their food. Had a great time.

Margie G.

Yelp
When I called un the order I had to repeat it a couple times. When I picked it up the sauce was leaking out. When I got the food home it was all wrong and tasted bad.

Yelp
First off - the waitress... LOVE LOVE LOVE - but did not get her name! They have a small lunch menu available but the regular menu is also available if you can't find anything suitable to your taste from the smaller lunch menu. I ordered the Sweet & Sour pork with fried rice and an egg roll that came with Egg drop soup as well - low low price of $9.99. What a deal! My daughter decided on Pad Thai with shrimp that was $13.99 and Won Ton soup for $5.45 (she always has to be the expensive one! lol) Both dishes were good. I enjoyed the fried rice actually had some BBQ pork and veggies in it. Many places now just add soy sauce and call it "Fried rice" - this was actually FRIED RICE. The Pad Thai had good flavor but we both thought the shrimp was a little off tasting. Not terrible but maybe cooked separately and thrown in at the end - not sure. $39.00 was our total ticket- (because she can't stick to the LUNCH MENU ) Not terrible - just not sure it stuck out as a WOW WE ARE DEFINITELY COMING BACK spot. BUT.. We loved our waitress!!!

Yelp
We gather her for work events. Today the music was very loud, we asked two times to lower the music so we can hear one another. Finally I asked to speak to the manager,he said he could not lower the music but he could move us, and we had already been served. So we stayed and had to talk above the music. As we were leaving the music was turned down. They (the managers) are rude. The food is ok, but not that great to have to talk above loud music.

Terrell C.

Yelp
Place should be closed! This is the second time we've visited them with dirty utensils, and unsanitary plates and dishes. As u can see they were failing on the news before for similar reasons.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
Place is either hit or miss. Last time we came their soda machine was broken so they only had water and unsweet tea but the food was good. The time before they had drinks but the food was too oily and did not taste good. This place used to be good back when it first opened but these last few years it's been inconsistent.
google avatar

Yelp
Sad to say Golden Wok is no longer good. This has been one of my favorite Chinese food places since a kid. They had the best sweet and sour pork. And the garlic pork they used to have was loaded with shiitake mushrooms. Now the food is bland. The sauces all have been significantly watered down. The food lacks any good flavor. The rice tasted just like oil with zero seasoning to it. The lemon chicken was so chewy and not done correctly. The eggrolls no longer have good flavor and taste like old oil. So sad to say Golden Wok will no longer be getting my business.

Zack S.

Yelp
Trash all around. Employees couldn't care less. Food took over 40 min for 2 togo entrees, after togo girl said a few more minutes. Better off anywhere else.

Chelsey J.

Yelp
Every time i come here, the food is top quality and the staff is friendly. Usually packed but worth the wait. Best beef and broccoli in the city.

Nsk N.

Yelp
the food was very lack luster. we paid $140 for this and we will not be coming back. the honey walnut shrimp was not good so was the spare ribs. there was not air of meat on the ribs ashe's there wasn't any sauce on it either. just wasn't great for the price.

Yelp
I stopped in this evening (Saturday) to pick up some chicken fried rice & sweet & sour chicken to go and it took over 40 minutes to get my order. There's a small area where one can wait for orders which was getting crowded and uncomfortable so just be prepared to either wait in your car & it's probably best to call in your order. The food itself is tasty- still doesn't compare to my NY food. Bronx chicken fried rice isn't as pale and it has more flavor. But this will have to do for now. The restaurant was really crowded so obviously people like their food.

Yelp
I seen someone post on facebook about this place and thought let me check my review of them to see if they responded. Nope they never did. Have not been back since my ordeal with their poor customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is always fresh from the stove and portion and quality never fails us. We love dining in here for dimsum, one of the good places for it. We didn't order their lunch menu but we saw that a lot of customers have it and for the price it was really good portion. The service is always fast and staff is always approachable and smiling. The place have indoor seats only but they offer boot, high chair or bar table.
google avatar

Lillian S.

Yelp
I ordered the Hot and Sour soup; it was very salty. I also ordered the Spiced eggplant with tofu; it was very good. The service was a bit slow, even though there were not too many people; it was well after lunch time. A guy sweeping the floors sneezed two or three times near diners. He didn't attempt to cover his sneeze and he didn't turn away from the tables. We ordered spring rolls, they are huge--more like egg rolls; they were very greasy. Not a great dining experience: soup, spring rolls, entree, $28 for one person. It was not good value for money.

Yelp
What happened to Golden wok! We used to eat at this place every Sunday. I called to place an order and the phone line had a reply that the number had changed and not available. Then i get there and the number is as accurate and I saw the rep answer, say please hold and never got back the customer. Lastly, my food had a long curly HAIR the rice! Wow, thats never happened before. We all lost our appetite and couldnt finish our food. $40 down the drain.

Yelp
Our waitress was super sweet & quick! The ambiance was relaxing and the food was on point! My husband got the shrimp & broccoli & it was cooked to perfection. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for authentic Chinese food, they also have Thai dishes. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
My go to for Dim Sum on the weekend. Large enough for huge families like mine. Table for 25 plzzzzz.

Linda V.

Yelp
Always good food! The daily special with lots of choices is certainly a great buy if you can get there by 2 pm... but if you miss I it, prices are still very reasonable... Whatever you order is delicious and serving size is big! We always have to take home leftovers! Golden Wok is reliable for their great dishes!
google avatar

Kristen A.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! We go every year for my sisters birthday, and just if we're craving something yummy. I always get the pad Thai and I can't even begin to describe how yummy it is! We ordered a side of fried rice for a 7year old & 4 year old to split. They got full and we still had leftovers. They loved it. Picky eater approved! I would recommend this place to any and everyone. Only complaint is they don't have sweet tea. They have unsweet and offer sweetener, which just isn't the same to me.
google avatar

Rita M.

Yelp
The food is decent and the service was great. I sat at the bar and the bartender was super! I had the lemon chicken with fried rice but forgot to take a photo. I love their egg drop soup with the fried noodles. So, so good! This place is always packed so obviously they're doing something right. You should definitely check it out!
google avatar

Budbud F.

Yelp
We had a big order, and everything was great except for the dim sum squid. The squid was spoiled. It was slimy and had the consistency of soft tofu. Squid should never be soft like that. That can make someone very sick. I have ordered the squid many times before, and this never happened. Other than that, everything else was good.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, great tasting asian food... i love the Basil chicken and fried rice... the asian spice ribs and great! We always enjoy going here.. good tasting food, nice environment with very reasonable prices.
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
I love coming here. I got my usual pan fried noodles with beef. I tried their green beans for the first time and they were so delicious. I will definitely be ordering again. The egg rolls were so good too! Usually the beef has more of a smoky flavor, but it was still really good. I usually go to the other location, but was by this one. Very good!
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Ordered combination fried rice, General Tso's Chicken, Chung Bo Steak and garlic spinach. Our server, Jose was very nice and very attentive. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
First when I walked in, the hostess was very welcoming and had a pleasant attitude.(5)Star for the Hostess. For the food . I got here around 2:15 they still had there lunch special, I order the sweet and sour, and ask her that I wanted the rice on a separate bowl or plate whichever they decide. The waitress ask if I would like the crispy for my egg drop soup and of course I said yes as it goes great with it. I received my soup and the crispy and the soup was so good and hot which I was very happy about, the waitress bought the crispy and they were not good they were cold and saturated with oil and I asked the waitress that I did not want them and she said they are always like this, I said to her that it must have just started happening as the last time I was here was 6 months ago. She was not happy that I did not want it replaced, when I ask her is it the same batch she said yes and then I said no thank you. When I received my plate my rice was in a bowl and very hot I have always had it hot and was happy that it come this way as it should have. My egg roll was saturated with oil and not even warm, my sweet and sour sauce was actually cold and the pork was hard and just warm, the vegetables, (onion, carrots and green peppers) were not even medium cook a big crunch, I am so disappointed that this is what they are serving after their lunch rush. I thought coming at this time would have been the best time to come here. The portion was less then before but I just could not even eat it due to the pork being so hard. I sure hope that this place is not really going down as Sweet and Sour is so pose to be stir fry together with the sauce. It was just poured on top of the hard pork . I still gave my 20% to the waitress. Please do better!

Yelp
Tasty vegan options! We ordered vegetable fried rice and asked them to add tofu. The garlic spinach doesn't sound all that appealing but it was too delicious! My bf isn't vegan but he loves the egg drop soup (not pictured) and sesame chicken.
google avatar

Adrian G.

Yelp
I came here for happy hour an sat at a table to the left side waitress was great no issues there Food great like always but..... I can't I enjoy happy hour at a table??? I was told I had to sit at the bar to get those prices what BS is that the sign outside didn't say that an when greeted I wasn't told Just thought that was petty of them so I had a tea not what I wanted but oh well

Shundra B.

Yelp
This restaurant has been a go to for lunch for my coworker and I. The last three visits have been mediocre at best regarding service, cleanliness, and food quality. We raised our concerns to the manager yesterday after receiving dirty utensils 3 times. She did not express any concern for our experience, just shrugged her shoulders and brought back more utensils. We will not be returning!
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
Great food! Make sure to order ahead as this place tends to get busy and can lead to longer than 30 minutes for to-go orders placed in restaurant! Plus their Yelp needed some updated menu photos so I added those!

Catalina A.

Yelp
I've been there before food's not that bad. It's OK sometimes when they cook, they put too much soy sauce. Service is great.
google avatar

Selina G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was great. Everything was fresh five stars plus. First time there and definitely will be going back again.!
google avatar

Arleth A.

Yelp
Food delivery took an hour for tofu pad Thai. Can work on wait time but the food was great.
google avatar

Christina T R.

Yelp
I've been coming to this restaurant since it was on the other side of Marbach, no windows and had a koi pond. The food is still as delicious as it was back then. My go to is the shrimp stir fry and it's my fave. The fried rice is good and so was the egg drop soup. The server was attentive and always filling up our water/drinks. My boyfriend ordered the orange peel chicken and it was a big plate. We took home leftovers.
google avatar

Paul P.

Yelp
Ordered the pork fried rice and chicken fried rice for delivery by Uber Eats. The rice was good, I totally will order again.
google avatar

Bianca L.

Yelp
Our go-to for dimsum here in San Antonio, the hot and sour soup - not so much; this past weekend, they were really busy and service was slower than usual. But would still def order dimsum in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Place is . Decided to try this place that I passed every time I drove into SA. My daughter and I tried a few items. Egg drop soup was 10/10. We had combo fried rice and Lo mein as well as orange and sesame chicken. All were great. Sesame was better than the orange. We also had an order of spring rolls and egg rolls. Both were amazing! We had plenty of leftovers as well.

David C.

Yelp
Tried Golden Wok again after our last visit several months ago and after their not-so-good inspection. I have to say the dinner was as good as it once was during their hey-day. The food was delicious and the portions were plenty. I noticed the wait staff making the extra effort to service the tables after people left. We will definitely return again.

Lisette V.

Yelp
They are very wasteful I didn't want rice and asked if they could substitute it for some type of noodle they told me no which is fine. But then I asked for no rice because I wasn't going to eat it and didn't want to waste it and they said I had no choice but to get it anyway. Such a waste when someone else who actually wanted it could've had it.

Yelp
Visited the restaurant after a round of golf at Lackland AFB, the eatery on the frontage road , east side of loop 410, just north of Marbach road. Plenty of parking fronting and siding this contemporary building. We visited after 2:00, the restaurant with many available tables. We were immediately seated. (I understand that the restaurant can be quite busy over the lunch hour). Lea was our waitress, a lady of extremely good cheer, very attentive to our table. She could probably teach a master class in excellent waitressing. Two in our party ordered the Pacific Sea Harbor, a medley of shrimp, scallops and fish, sitting midst a str fry of vegetables. Brown rice was served on the side. Unhappily for my mates, they preferred a different side, and were told '"Sorry, substitutions not allowed". They considered the dish...OK, with a rating between 2.5 and 3 stars. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, again sided with brown rice. In truth, the entree was one of the least flavorful of this pork dish I had enjoyed elsewhere. The batter was extremely crusty, that is to say, dense and hard on the palate. The pork was overcooked, very tough and chewy. I would rate the dish 2 stars. Egg rolls were ordered as appetizer, but they actually were delivered after the entrees had been served. The portions were definitely Texas oversized, no one in our party able to finish their entrees: takeout bags for everyone. Would I recommend this restaurant on my one visit? Only if one is in the area, dying for any kind of Chinese food, and wanting elephantine portions. I have enjoyed superior Chinese food in our city at other restaurants and would personally visit these other eateries.
google avatar

Antonio M.

Yelp
Food was over cooked. Shrimp Lo mein tasted burnt. Eggs rolls falling apart. Very poor quality of food

Chatoya J.

Yelp
Tried this place because I've always seen several cars parked outside, and I wasn't disappointed. Despite it being located off of Marbach it was clean, food was good, and prices were reasonable. Thanks for the experience.

Yelp
It was my first time at golden wok since I was visiting San Antonio and I was really surprised throughout my entire experience! Knowing that the service industry is struggling right now I think it's important to give grace against the staff since they are often short handed. This led to pretty long wait times in getting water, apps, food, etc. our waiter was running around trying to service so many tables that we understood. First off I have to say that their dinner portions are pretty large. I started with the egg drop soup that is probably the best I have had in a good while! We got the egg roll appetizer that only comes with two, however, they are huge and can easily be split in two. My entree was the sesame chicken and again I was so impressed with how crispy and fresh it was! The one downside is that the dinner entrees only come with white rice and if you want fried you have to pay the $12+ portion which is a meal in itself. Loved the food and wish I had one close to where I live!

Mazi G.

Yelp
We make a stop here all the time whenever we are on this side of town. Food is great, hot, and authentic. I'd highly recommend this place. Servers are knowledgeable in the menu and always friendly. The reason for missing a star was that on 5th of March between 1-130p, We decided to have a table at the bar. The bartender on duty was completely rude and did not acknowledge us. He only served his tables and no one else.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
This place gets pretty packed in the evenings. Wait times can vary due to party sizes using tables. The food is good with a variety of dishes to try. Service sometimes will walk by without checking in especially if you're needing their attention. They tend to larger groups.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Chicken fried rice I'm holding the chicken. Only veggie is onion. Soup had two wontons.

Ricardo C.

Yelp
Nathan is the best server in the world, he made the ambiance more than worth while and was extremely charismatic. I will define coming back here cus the food is awesome too! PROMOTE NATHAN!!!
