Golden Years, a 1970’s-Inspired Cocktail Bar, Is Coming Soon to West Town | Eater Chicago

"Opened by Zach Rivera and Christina Chae in partnership with Georg Simos and Alex Tsolakides, this West Town cocktail bar takes over the former High Dive/Dante’s space at 1938 W. Chicago Avenue and channels a soulful 1970s rock-and-blues spirit. The 2,000-square-foot room — outfitted with brown leather seating, wooden furniture, and low, era-evoking lighting — will seat about 60 with ample standing room, aiming for a laid-back, music-driven neighborhood vibe inspired by artists like David Bowie, Joe Cocker, and Buddy Miles. The cocktail-forward menu reinterprets ’70s staples with modern balance: highlights include the Cactus Club (tequila-mezcal with an orange-juice verdita of cilantro, mint, and jalapeño), the Zombie Killer (rums, apricot, guava, coconut cream), the 23° Highball (lemon oil with Suntory Toki and Hibiki, served via a specially rigged freezer to avoid ice issues), and the Boricua Stinger (rum, brandy, Fernet Branca topped with a minty Maltaegg-cream foam reflecting Rivera’s Puerto Rican and Jewish roots). A concise, throwback food menu (wedge salad with blue cheese, a classic club sandwich, bacon-wrapped dates) complements the drinks. The team emphasizes a boozy, bluesy approach to the ’70s trend and has scheduled a debut for November 8." - Naomi Waxman

So glad we were able to finally come! Food and drinks were great. We got the burger, turkey club, onion rings, and fries. I would get all of it again! Service was super friendly. The owners came by multiple times to check and make sure we are good. Drinks were great as well! So glad we live close by so we can continue to come!

Spacious, yet intimate and upscale quality cocktail bar. Great place to catch up with a friend, and excellent date spot. Quality espresso martinis 🤌. The Florida is also a favorite.

We hosted an event here and would absolutely do it again. The staff were accommodating to our needs. Food was great and cocktails delicious. Everyone who came to our event commented on what a great vibe and atmosphere Golden Years was. Would highly recommend working with this bar and owner.

Great little spot. Cozy, excellent service, and a great list of creative cocktails. Not your everyday wiskey and coke type cocktails, but creative and sorta unique. Perfect addition to the neighborhood. I’m a sucker for a Tiki drink and they truly nailed theirs. Plenty of coconut milky pineapple vibes.

A great cocktail bar making the neighborhood even better. Rotating cocktail menu. Highballs, Boulevardier, and The Cardinal have all been great mixes. Love the vibe and service. Mack's the man.

I was able to walk in with a group on Saturday night & sit down immediately. Cocktails were creative with pretty presentations, can’t wait to come back to try out their happy hour!
