"Everything Rolf Hekeler and Christopher Oelkrug are doing here makes sense, and tastes great. The cooking is down-to-earth and based on high quality fresh produce. The many (regular) customers enjoy international dishes alongside tried and tested classics such as Wiener Schnitzel with potato and cucumber salad." - Michelin Inspector

To tell the truth with such a German name we thought it would be serving the usual schnitzel and roasted potatoes. But we needed a table on Easter Monday and it had good reviews as well as a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I had to say we enjoyed the food very much, from my pancake soup to the lamb on peperonata and wild garlic polenta - knowing that I usually do not like polenta, but this one was tasty. I was glad they served the lamb rosé without my having to ask for it. Service was good and friendly and they had a small but pretty good wine selection.

Although the quality of food leaves no doubt, it was not extraordinary or "mind-blowing" for me. But the prices are on the higher side. Price/quality/taste ratio is not the best. Local dishes are usually quite served in big portions, and that's why me and my wife often prefer to share a main dish. In this place, they basically didn't allow us to do so. Literally said they will not give us an extra plate to share a dish. Never happened to us before. But these are the rules here, so be aware. The waitress was super nice! without her, our experience at Goldener Adler could have been much worse

We were very much looking forward to dining here after reading the reviews and Michelin accolades. The space is cozy and great for a date night, or for a nice dinner with friends or colleagues. I was underwhelmed by the seasoning of the food as much as I wanted to love it, the dessert was the best part. We had reservations and were immediately seated. I started with the Asian pork belly and spicy kohlrabi kimchi. The kimchi was very good and had a nice kick, but the pork belly was lacking much flavor, even with all the sauce. I then had the zwiebelrostbraten with spätzle. The steak was cooked perfectly and tender, but I still found it lacking much flavor. The onions were full of flavor and took over the dish, but seasoning outside of that was minimal. The spätzle did taste like it had the nutmeg in it and was cooked perfectly. Split the chocolate dish for dessert and it made the whole night better. The mouse portion was so creamy and delicious, while the brownie was warm and just melted in your mouth. The ice cream had some type of crunchy chocolate as well. The strawberry and rhubarb were both nice additions, as was the mint cream. Update: tried it again and adding a star for the food! The steak was good, but the smoked trout appetizer was surprisingly delicious! This time the dessert was white chocolate creme brulee, plums, and ice cream.

Tricky to find a table without a reservation but was kindly seated at the bar with all outside tables reserved. Wiener Schnitzel was excellent, as was the service and drinks. Highly recommended!

Wonderful dining experience, exceptional service with warm welcome. We are sharing dishes and the waitor kindly arranged for food to be divided before they arrive. The wine list was good and reasonably priced. Very yummy food with large portion. Value for money. Recommend the octopus dish.

My wife and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary here. I had a lamb dish that was excellent. They have a very good wine selection. On the downside, my wife was not impressed with the chocolate mousse. Overall, we had an enjoyable outing.

Had a great experience last night! We got stuck at work and missed our reservation (by a lot) and had the nerve to show up 20 minutes before closing. Even though they weren't serving the full menu, they were gracious enough to take care of us and we are glad they did. My steak was phenomenal and my friend loved the ravioli. All the staff spoke English and were extremely polite.

Yelp
KK (H? ;))-- I've been here a number of times before, so I can comfortably speak to its quality of fare and service, top to bottom. Just ordered. It's a little more expensive than some places, but the friendly and casual atmosphere with high quality and well thought out dishes more than justify the price points. Interesting cocktail choices that you'd absolutely love. A little too much pork and fish on the menu for your liking, but the rest you'll find ausgezeichnet! One day, I hope you'll let me show you the Germany that *I* know. I'm absolutely SURE I'll change your mind. You and me. TPYFB. Catch up soon. Please.

Yelp
Great food, good service, prices are a bit too high for what you get. The wine was delicious. The only negative I had was the stiff and quite cold atmosphere. Get the scallops, they're amazing!

Yelp
Consistently an incredible meal. If they have lamb on the menu get it - it is always amazing. It is a very comfortable restaurant to enjoy a very good meal at a very good price. Well worth every Euro spent.
