On our 11th date, my sweetheart and I stopped at Goldies to grab a quick meal before going to hear a jazz jam at the Barnes Foundation. Being new to Philly, my sweetheart had not yet had a chance to try Goldies. In an effort to eat healthy, he makes plenty of his own hummus. It's a heroic effort, but I had to show him the humus by which I compare all other humus -- Goldie's. He didn't disagree with me that Goldie's has a uniquely velvety texture and taste. He also approved of the falafel and was tickled that he could get an interesting beer. True to fashion, he felt we needed desert and came back with an array of baked goods from the market. I chose to buy half a dozen extra pitas from Goldies. I like to cut them in half and freeze them. That actually get better after going from freezer to toaster and then lathering all of the little nooks and crannies with butter.
The concert was disappointing. The ticket information from Barnes was confusing and we arrived well into the program when the band was finishing its wild exuberant finale. I know the band to be good, but the acoustics of the hall did the music no favors. My sweetheart was a good sport about it.
