Goldies - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"If you can’t find Goldies in the Kingly Court maze, first follow the scent of BBQ smoke. And when you see piles of golden chips that make you consider asking a stranger for a bite, know you’ve found it. The buzz at this BBQ spot in Soho almost verges on too loud, which makes Goldies ideal for a group that’s ready to share a bunch of skewers, a whole baby chicken, and a load of very good beef-dripping fries. Not all of the food is memorable, especially the skewers, which might leave you a little disappointed. But beef shin croquettes are so good you’ll want one each, and we kept nibbling on the aforementioned twice-cooked frites long after we said we were too full for another bite. So while Goldies may not be the place for a deep, meaningful first date, it's still a useful spot to know about when you need a last-minute reservation around Oxford Street. photo credit: Goldies photo credit: Goldies photo credit: Goldies Food Rundown photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Beef Shin Croquettes A lot of places serve croquettes that are mostly potato and a little bit of meat, but at Goldies, theirs are stuffed to the brim with tender beef. The pickled walnut and parmesan on top is a nice touch, too. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Lamb With Mint Chimichurri If you’re getting one skewer, make it this nicely cooked lamb with a pleasant, tangy chimichurri sauce. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Chicken With Pepper & Herbs De Provence This skewer is fine if you’re after some basic grilled chicken, but it lacks the seasoning to make it memorable. Skip. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Marinated Baby Chicken With Smoked Yogurt A perfectly nice, if forgettable, grilled baby chicken. photo credit: Goldies 38 Days Aged Beef Sirloin This steak comes in a sweet, almost toffee-like sauce that does no favours to the beef. So if you do get this, order the pepper sauce dip on the side, and eat the steak with that instead. Although you’re better off skipping altogether. photo credit: Goldies Hand-Cut Frites Cooked Twice These are excellent fries that you’ll want by the pile." - Rianne Shlebak

We recently dined at Goldie’s as a group of six and had a fantastic overall experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and very personable, making us feel truly welcomed. The staff took the time to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious, featuring a selection of small plates that were thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. While the portions were on the smaller side, the flavors were rich and satisfying, and we left feeling content. The ambiance of the restaurant also added to the experience, creating a cozy yet lively atmosphere that made for a wonderful evening. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Goldies and would happily return for another meal.

First time trying this new restaurant. The food is delightful and not too heavy on the stomach. Service from Beatrice was also super friendly and welcoming. The Ghanaian chef is also very handsome too. My favourites were the sweet corn and courgette chip starters! Would definitely come again!

Absolutely fantastic food. It was a really good culinary experience. The service was polite and attentive. Total standout was the grilled baby chicken. And the beef fat fries. Just perfect. That’s not to say everything else wasn’t excellent. The burger was very good but I don’t think their play added much. I would go with other dishes next time. My only negative is the atmosphere. Not a place I would want to while away the hours, and it was oddly very cold. But the food pulled it all through in the end.

Thank you to Top Jaw for sending us to this Soho hidden treasure! The food was delicious, our waitress Beatrice was fabulous, and I could eat ten of those parsley butter corn ribs to myself! Also - and an unusual but much appreciated fact - the best smelling bathrooms in London. The tables are very snugly squeezed in, which might not suit people who like a bit of space, but in such a central location it's just one of those things. Definitely highly recommended.

I rate them 5 star because we found the food really really tasty and we had a great time. Everything tasted like it’s made from the highest quality ingredients. I wish they had a bar and made the cocktails fresh. They tasted like they are made from pre-mix and we tried most.

Had a wonderful meal here sat at the counter, service was incredibly quick and it was an experience seeing everything being prepared for us. The chef made sure to explain what we were eating, how it was prepared and wanted to genuinely know our thoughts on the food. The waiting staff were excellent and the cocktails spectacular - smoky chilli margarita was WOW! My favourite dish of the evening was the Milanese and the open fire cooked lamb was ridiculously tasty. The chicken was so perfectly cooked it was dripping with juices not one dry bite and the prawns were lovely. The beef shin croquettes are a must. This was really well priced for fresh fire cooked food. Would highly recommend

Great food, but a few foibles of a newly opened restaurant. Seemed a bit odd for a chef to create a dish right in front of me to put it on a pass for 5 minutes to wait for a waitress to then bring it over to us. Our waiters were really lovely but a couple dishes were not put through so that meant we had a bit of a disjointed dinner but frankly I would have waited for the food if the only way to get it was for it to be thrown directly into my mouth. Margaritas were fantastic as well.

Walked in for a table of four before going to the theatre. It's beautiful inside and the staff are very professional and attentive (we had Beatrice)! ALL of the food was 10/10 and I would order all the same things again, plus more!! It was such a nice sharing picky dinner with a huge pile of fries in the middle of the table. The bathroom was also really cool 😁😁
