Goldies - Review - Soho - London - The Infatuation

"If you can’t find Goldies in the Kingly Court maze, first follow the scent of BBQ smoke. And when you see piles of golden chips that make you consider asking a stranger for a bite, know you’ve found it. The buzz at this BBQ spot in Soho almost verges on too loud, which makes Goldies ideal for a group that’s ready to share a bunch of skewers, a whole baby chicken, and a load of very good beef-dripping fries. Not all of the food is memorable, especially the skewers, which might leave you a little disappointed. But beef shin croquettes are so good you’ll want one each, and we kept nibbling on the aforementioned twice-cooked frites long after we said we were too full for another bite. So while Goldies may not be the place for a deep, meaningful first date, it's still a useful spot to know about when you need a last-minute reservation around Oxford Street. photo credit: Goldies photo credit: Goldies photo credit: Goldies Pause Unmute Food Rundown Beef Shin Croquettes A lot of places serve croquettes that are mostly potato and a little bit of meat, but at Goldies, theirs are stuffed to the brim with tender beef. The pickled walnut and parmesan on top is a nice touch, too. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Lamb With Mint Chimichurri If you’re getting one skewer, make it this nicely cooked lamb with a pleasant, tangy chimichurri sauce. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Chicken With Pepper & Herbs De Provence This skewer is fine if you’re after some basic grilled chicken, but it lacks the seasoning to make it memorable. Skip. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Marinated Baby Chicken With Smoked Yogurt A perfectly nice, if forgettable, grilled baby chicken. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak 38 Days Aged Beef Sirloin This steak comes in a sweet, almost toffee-like sauce that does no favours to the beef. So if you do get this, order the pepper sauce dip on the side, and eat the steak with that instead. Although you’re better off skipping altogether. photo credit: Goldies Hand-Cut Frites Cooked Twice These are excellent fries that you’ll want by the pile. photo credit: Goldies" - Rianne Shlebak
