Johnny Mañana’s Goes All in on Day of the Dead Decor in Callowhill - Eater Philly

"Johnny Mañana’s, which closed in East Falls in 2016 after almost 15 years, is getting a second life in Callowhill. Owner Tim Bonnie revives his Mexican-American eatery this week in its new home in the Goldtex apartment building. The restaurant features a kitschy look with Day of the Dead decor, an Aztec-style design on the wall, and offers Mexican and Southwestern cuisine including tacos, fajitas, burritos, wings, and nachos. The signature drink is a $5 classic margarita." - Rachel Vigoda

Avoid renting at Goldtex if you value transparency and fair utility billing. I lived there for four years, and while the utilities were always high, things took a turn for the worse in my final months. Management began adding a $60 flat utility fee on top of already excessive charges. For reference, I lived in a studio and was regularly billed around $168 for water, $198 for electric, plus the $60 fee—an outrageous total for a small unit. When I asked for a breakdown or proof of usage, I was told they couldn't provide it because "the utility system temporarily went offline, and the actual usage data was not captured until March." In other words, I was expected to pay hundreds of dollars a month with zero transparency. High utility costs might be tolerable if the building was well maintained, but that wasn’t the case. HVAC issues would go unresolved for weeks at a time, often during peak heating or cooling seasons, and residents were never compensated—even when the system wasn’t working. Only one elevator typically functioned at a time, and it was extremely slow. Moving out of Goldtex was a huge relief. I no longer dread opening my utility bill each month. However, it’s now been over a month since I moved out, and I still haven’t received my $1,000 security deposit—even though the property manager did a walkthrough and confirmed there was no damage. Bottom line: Save yourself the stress and money. Look elsewhere.

*Very High Utility Bills *Paper thin walls *Infested with roaches I lived at Goldtex for a year, and while I initially liked the loft-style space, the reality of living here was a huge disappointment. Jeff at the front desk was always friendly, and Rashawn, the building manager, did his best to help, but there wasn’t much he could do with higher management making all the decisions. The biggest issue? The paper-thin walls. I could hear my neighbor’s conversations clearly, like they were in the same room, and their dog barked nonstop all day. It was impossible to relax, let alone get a good night's sleep. Then there were the roaches. No matter how clean I kept my apartment, they still showed up, which made me constantly paranoid. On top of that, the place is nowhere near energy-efficient. My utility and water bills were absurdly high, even though I barely used anything. It felt like I was being ripped off every month. The move-in special was what got me in the door, but looking back, it wasn’t worth the hassle. The headaches far outweighed any initial savings. As for the amenities—sure, they’re nice on paper, but not worth it considering how little I used them. The "Instagram pool" is tiny and really just for show, not for actual swimming. The hot tub was relaxing the few times I used it, but not enough to justify the outrageous rent. The one saving grace? I did get my security deposit back. But honestly, I was just relieved to leave. If you’re considering moving here, think twice—there are way better options for the price.

Do not rent here! The building is gorgeous, the tenants are fun, and the on-site manager is amazing. Post Brothers, however, is the WORST management company I have ever lived in, from rude corporate staff, to billing issues where THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU. They are worse they Greystar iykyk.

***** READ BEFORE THINKING OF RENTING HERE***** Goldtex is outstanding building, but just like most apartment complexes, it’s far from perfect. It’s like buying a brand new car with a ton of recalls on it, it’s breaking down every other week, same thing with this building, every other week something will break on you. Overall it’s a very modern place to live, but the amount of problems you’ll run into cannot match it. From the day I moved in, there was nothing but problems with the apartment, many things were broken and never fixed. Submitted a check sheet with management regarding the issues, lost the sheet and never had anyone check on the problems. From the day I moved in, the towel rack in the bathroom was on it’s last leg until it broke recently, the shower door leaked ungodly across the whole bathroom floor, there’s openly exposed wires in the one closet, some of the electric outlets don’t work properly, old AC air filters left under the unit, the refrigerator didn’t stay cold and the window didn’t close properly. Had to remind management many times about all the issues, and still till this day more than halfway through my lease, still haven’t had everything fixed. So if you loved frustration and fighting, this is definitely the right place for you! The amazing 14 feet ceilings are amazing, until your fire alarm starts beeping because the battery is dying, usually happens late night or on the days no ones around to fix it for you. Had to replace both batteries on my own, attempting to parkour on furniture to change it myself. The AC unit tends to break down frequently as well. The first time I had it happen, I waited until the next day in the late afternoon to go talk to management about it. Only to find the repairman near the office, ask him about it and he responds, “I know, I’ll be right up to fix it”. Apparently it was multiple units, not just my apartment, and on top of that they knew it was not working and took their time to fix it. Hope you get along with your neighbors well, because the walls are paper thin, you can easily near next door making breakfast in the morning time if you’re still trying to sleep in during the day. Prepare for the constant fire alarms going off as well. Whether it’s a drill or the real deal, it’s bound to go off at least once a month at a minimum. Of course there's positive things about the building everyone mentions, like the rooftop and beautiful kitchens, etc. But dealing with all this problems first hand, it makes it very easy to look past all the good aspects. Only reason moving into this building was to be a lot closer to work and to have my peace and quiet, but so far I’ve had the complete opposite of that. Keep looking for a different and more established apartment complex, this one definitely needs a few more years to get their act together!

6 months since moving out, and still haven’t received security deposit. Will adjust review accordingly once deposit is received in full. On top of that, amenities are not unkept, things break all the time, apartments are landlord special - there’s much better options in Philly.

I’ve lived at Goldtex for about a year and have had a good experience so far. The front desk gives me peace of mind as far as safety and packages go, and the amenities (gym, parking lot, pool) are vey convenient. In my time here, there has been a change in management and I’ve been happy with both property managers. The new manager Ray has been friendly and responsive to any issues I have in the unit. Would recommend!

Google
I lived in Goldtex for 3 years. The sole reason I am giving it a good review is because of the amazing staff. We had a previous Property Manager during our first 1.5 years and the situation was awful. However, when Lana took over, everything changed. She is very quick, responsive, and nothing is too much trouble for her to make the residents happy and resolve issues quickly. Additionally, Hakeem from maintenance is a great guy and always helpful and makes the complex feel like a community. Pam from maintenance is a sweetheart and always friendly to speak with when you see her around the complex. Jeff the concierge is one of the best concierges that I have seen and always made sure the complex was safe. There were many negative experiences that I could put in this review, but I feel as though the staff works their hardest and it outweighs all of those.

My husband and I had an incredible experience living at Goldtex. In particular, Lana Brown, the general manager, was fantastic. She was so responsive and went above and beyond for us. When I was 8 months pregnant , she made sure I didn’t have to walk on the ice/ snow to my car. When our daughter was born, she was so accommodating in helping us get settled. I cannot say enough about how great she was. We are going to miss living here!

Yelp
Cool place! Came here for a rooftop event they were having. The location has good highway access and decent parking given the proximity to Chinatown and Center City. On the rooftop there's a small pool and the openness of it all gives you great views of the city. The space isn't huge, but fits a decent crowd. There's technically two levels to the rooftop. You enter through the fitness center (after taking the elevator to the top) and you have a landing that wraps halfway around the building (and this is the level with the pool.) In addition, there's a small set of stairs that opens the space up for more views and seating. The apartments are a bit pricey, but it may be worth it given the location and the amenities. The building does host a few cool events, especially a killer Halloween party. The staff are also friendly, and seem to understand the needs of the residents. Worth checking out!

Yelp
Read reviews, do your research. DO NOT RENT a #Postbrothers, apartment. They are SLUMLORDS! They are dishonest and use substandard materials and workmanship. They do not maintain the buildings. Here is a list of their current buildings https://www.postrents.com/our-properties. Owners, #Michaelpestronk, #MatthewPestronk the building owners are absolute garbage. #YvetteStewartGlimp will lie to you in the same sentence she brags about being a preachers wife while describing herself as the "First Lady of the church". #Goldtex #PostBrothers

Yelp
Stay away from Goldtex and PostBrothers. Goldtex runs through managers constantly, and there is only one person managing the building. Requests for maintenance are almost never resolved, ex. No hot water for over a month despite repeated emails and messages to the GM. the amenities are never kept up well. The hotutb on the roof often dirty, lacks enough water, and tiles are breaking all over the hot tub. Management has harassed me constantly, and as endorsed tenants to harass other tenants. I was harassed by a fellow Tennant. When reporting to management I was told there is nothing I can do and if I wanted to file a restraining order, the building will sue me. Post Brothers will do nothing to help. the company does not care at all about tenants rights at all. Everything the building says about the complex is a lie. Do not trust them!! Stay away!

Yelp
This property is managed under post brothers. Couple years ago I lived in another apartment, presidential city, which at that time was also managed under post brothers. I currently have over 700$ deposit that post brother did not return to me. Corporate is not responsive on handling this issue. I have been contacting them for more than a year and it never got resolved. Now planning to take legal actions. Please, everyone, run away from Post Brothers. I am feeling so disappointed trying to get my money back and I don't really know if they are giving back my security deposit or not.

Yelp
for the price they want they need more space. it's a cramped up Bachelor pad. this should be for students more than actual career people.

Yelp
Goldtex has many admirable features. There's nothing like dipping into the hot tub - which is perched atop the roof - on a chilly evening, exercising in a gym that affords such a nice view of the city, or relaxing in a living room saturated with natural light. What I can do without: a non-stop clanging noise that permeates the entirety of the unit. This is a noise that 1) sounds every second of the day, afternoon, and night, 2) is so loud I can hear it while simultaneously washing and drying clothes, watching tv, playing music, taking a shower, operating two floor fans on their highest settings, exercising, or during virtually any activity. I cannot say that I enjoy being clanged awake throughout the night - every night - even after taking mitigating action [operating two floor fans and the ceiling fan every night] in attempt to mask that darned unrelenting clanging. What's more, I first addressed this noise with Goldtex management in September 2019 - which only led to management serving a series of excuses - including 1) the noise is the trash compactor, 2) there's nothing Goldtex can do to fix it, 3) it's too expensive to fix, and 4) the part - that would presumably correct the issue - won't arrive for an undetermined amount of time. When, in late February, discussing the possibility of moving to another unit, the manager believed it appropriate to tell me Goldtex's policy does not usually allow tenants to transfer until the lease ends. I found that comment peculiar considering Goldtex has knowingly allowed the nuisance to persist for, and let's count, eight (8) months. The prospect of moving was not an altogether attractive option, even before being scolded by Goldtex management, considering 1) I moved into the unit in July 2019, 2) Goldtex has not offered assistance with moving furniture or any form of compensation whatsoever, 3) no units were immediately available, and 4) I'd end up paying a higher monthly rent to resolve a problem that Goldtex has allowed to abide. After exhausting all available resources at Goldtex, I emailed Post Brothers' SVP of Property Management on May 6 and received a mere one-sentence response three (3) days later. The response: "I will find out what's going on". I followed up with the SVP on May 11 and have not received a response. In addition to being clanged awake every night, I now have to deal with vermin being a roommate.

Yelp
RUN from Post Brothers!!!!!! I lived here for 2 Years and we are on our 4th Manager. They only have 1 person ( manager) that works in the office. Our HVAC was not working for over 2 Months and they gave us $200. My utility bill went from $150 for a 1 bedroom to $420. How is that possible? I heard from a previous employee that lives in our building that they treat the residents who are " of color" different, They gave my neighbor half a Month discount and only gave us $200. So if you value your money pick a place that values us!!! I have been waiting for their "VP" to call me back, yet to date crickets!!! And the worst of it all there are mice everywhere. In the hallways, you can hear them through the walls. It's no surprise the trash chutes are dirty. The lobby smells like mice droppings. Post Brothers do not care about their tenants. I complained of how dirty the place is and suggested a new cleaning company but I was told that the VP's husband is the cleaning Company. Shouldn't that be conflict of interest??? You should be able to get people that can actually clean!!! This place needs help its dirty and HVAC breaks every other week!!

Yelp
WATCH OUT for the utility bills!! I am renting a 1 bedroom unit, 750 sqft and have gotten bills ranging from $150 to $450. This building is NOT efficient and it's appalling that they choose to advertise as such. The staff is very friendly and the amenities are great. I wish I could have given a better review but the lack of action by management to resolve this issue makes me think it will not be fixed in the near future.

Yelp
I moved back to Goldtex recently and the building is just as great as when I've lived here before. The front desk staff is awesome and Dave has taken care of any maintenance request in a timely fashion. I love the rooftop and the gym.

Yelp
I lived here for three years because I use to work at the closed Hahnemann Hospital nearby. I enjoyed my time here overall, made many friends, and the maintenance and front desk staff, particularly Felicia and Alexa. The old management also use to throw large parties on the roof that were really fun and always a great time. However, management has had ups and downs. I did like my apartment, the view, pet friendliness and amenities, but there were significant flaws. Several times I found dead mice in the grill on the roof. The elevators broke down often, and for several days (I lived on one of the top floors). I might have stayed if they did not keep trying to raise our rent despite over 40 units being empty. I could just no longer justify the price for what we were getting. Probably the lowest blow was that after moving out, a significant amount of money was taken out of my security deposit after pouring about a hundred thousand dollars in rent over the course of living there. We had a cleaning service and left the unit significantly cleaner than how we found it. When we moved in, our unit was infested with fruit flies and we had to live with that for several weeks. Even more egregious, before moving in we were told that utilities would be "no more than $65.." I have the emails. Our first utility bill was over $300 and I have not had one less than $150, despite not turning on airconditioning or heat. My roommates car was also broken into three times in the lot across the street, owned by the goldtex which they charged about $200 a month to park at. Security was awful. I'm bittersweet about leaving, most of our friends in the building were happier after moving out. Like many things in life there are trade offs. But overall, it's way overpriced for the small space, location, finishes, and amenities. I have many happy memories at the Goldtex, but the cons outweigh the pros...

Yelp
Living here is a total financial drain. I am a current 3rd floor tenant. They showed us a beautiful 2BR2BA unit last year, and gave us a great "promotional deal" to lessen the rent, but it was nowhere near worth the hassle we incurred as tenants. 1) Expect to pay up to $300 worth of utilities due to the building's constantly malfunctioning HVAC heating system. For the last 5 months, we've been complaining about the heating system turning on and off spontaneously without corresponding to the thermostat. For ex., there have been many nights where my roommate and I have woken up to a 55 degree apartment, when the thermostat has been set to 70, & the drastic temperature changes drive the heating bills up. The manager has done nothing but make excuses, saying the HVAC system is 8 years old and that everyone on our floor is experiencing these issues. They refuse to fix the HVAC and refuse to compensate us for the outrageous bills. Also the window is sealed so poorly that you can literally feel the outside draft when the window is closed. We've also complained about this, yet nothing has been done. There is nothing "green" or "eco-friendly" about this place, and you can expect to pay the price for it. 2) Goldtex is located next to High End Vine Street Car shop, one of the most popular and loudest stereo shops in town. They test out new stereos on weekday and weekend mornings, so loudly that car alarms go off and I-kid-you-not the apartment walls SHAKE from the stereo bass. 3) Goldtex is located next to NOTO night club, which attracts the loudest party-goers in the city. Be prepared to be woken up at 2 AM by drunk people yelling in the street. 4) The building had a fire on the 3rd floor and didn't notify us tenants via email, phone call, elevator signs or anything! I realized there was a fire when I returned home to the sprinkler-soaked 3rd floor being vacuumed. I rushed to my room in panic only to realize that my unit had luckily been spared from water-damage, unlike the other floor tenants who had to move and replace all their water-damaged belongings. 5) Our freezer stopped working, and we had to complain literally 10 times before it was fixed. We had a similar issue with our "brand-new" touch-screen stove as well. As a result, we couldn't store any perishable goods or cook anything till both issues were resolved. If anything breaks expect it to stay broken for weeks if not months. This, in addition to the malfunctioning HVAC heating system, made living here a total financial drain.

Yelp
Goldtex is not an "energy efficient" building. I moved in August 2017 and was told prior to move-in that the average electricity bill was between $30 and $100. The electricity bill is consistently over $200/mo even when using no heat or air conditioning. We have complained multiple times to management and nothing has been done to rectify this issue. I would not recommend living here because they mislead you. I have other friends living in the building with the same issue. It is a scam to get you to move in based on a lie then force you to pay an inaccurate bill. Other than the high electricity bill, Goldtex is a decent place to live. The amenities are nice and front desk security is great. Although, I will not be resigning my lease or recommending Goldtex to anyone due to the electricity scam.

Yelp
Avoid if you like some peace and quiet at 5am in the morning or 12am at night! The walls are thin (maybe???) and the neighbors were LOUD (definitely!!!). The building manager never resolved the noise issues either. Also what is up with frequent false fire alarms? I paid way too much to put up with the bad building management and the loud people living here. In my opinion, you might love it here if you are a twenty-something year old who wants to party but not if you don't fit into that demographic. You've been warned.

Yelp
I have lived in a 1 bedroom since September, starting from the beginning: I moved in about halfway through the month, upon signing the lease which spelled out how much needed to be paid at move-in (pro-rated first month) the lady who was working the front office attempted to charge for an entire month. I have lived in several apartments in different cities, and that is never the policy, and even if it is the policy, why was it not brought up before? Then the Goldtex refused to accept my personal check for move in which caused me to use a credit card which incurred a hefty service charge 3% since I showed up with my truck and u-haul trailer. After the first month they will accept a personal check though. Next thing is that they will only let you use the loading dock during normal business hours on weekdays only, so forget about getting some furniture delivered on the weekend for you normal working types, this policy can be annoying, although the bldg manager agreed that if I were not able to be present for a furniture delivery that he would/could allow the company deliver the furniture, but that takes away the possibility for me to refuse delivery if it shows up the wrong product or damaged. Next is the hassle I have had with neighbors and noise. I feel that the insulation in the shared walls is completely inadequate for a building so new and "green". But the worst part of this is working with management on a solution to your neighbor playing extremely loud music at 11 PM on a Monday night, or 4:30 am on a Thursday morning. I was never followed up with when complaining in writing or verbally. And lastly is the issue I have had over the past couple weeks with parking, Goldtex does have 1 level of underground parking in an extremely cramped area, and 1 small surface lot with some spaces, which causes a waitlist, which I can deal with, but what I can't deal with is being told that a spot is available during the last week of a month (so I don't have to pay the other lot come first of the month) and then being told upon query at the first of the month after I returned from a business trip that "I'm not sure how many spots are available, and that I need to contact the other people on the list and I'll get back to you in 2 days", which is still perfectly reasonable, but then not following through with the deadline, and extending the deadline, then missing that mark as well. In this instance I believe there was a change in staff, but it does it does not excuse everything. I think all of these complaints can be fixed easily (except for the lack of insulation between units) by a complete change in management. However, not my entire experience living here has been negative: The building in general is really nice. Verizon FiOS is available and offers blazing speeds, all the fixtures are new, and the gym is adequate for most exercising needs. The people that work the front desk are certainly friendly and will get on a first name basis with you if you chat with them a bit on your way in/out. They also sign for any packages you get so not worrying about 'package capers' in Philadelphia is good. The neighborhood is generally quiet without a ton of foot traffic, but yet there are a few dining/drinking options in a couple block radius without going into the tourist bustle in Chinatown or convention center area. BUT, if you want to go there it is only a 5 minute walk away. I live on the north side of the building, and while I do not have a view of city hall or the Comcast building, I also do not get any street noise from Vine street. I rarely hear sirens from Police/Fire/Rescue which is great since I have been in apartments on busier streets and the noise from emergency sirens goes on all night long. All in all the Goldtex is a decent place to live with a few drawbacks that are going to make it hard to renew my lease when my year is up.

Yelp
I moved here in July and have had nothing but a great experience with everyone and everything involved with Goldtex from the beginning. Despite ongoing construction, the entire Goldtex/Post Bros staff have been extremely accommodating. They go above and beyond expectations. I've spoken to other residents and they have told me the same. The apartments look amazing! The pictures really don't do them justice. I'm huge fan of the giant ceiling and windows. Being pet friendly was a must and having eco friendly features and functionality were added bonuses. I use my car for work so having multiple parking options provided by Goldtex was great. The rooftop is hands down one of the best in the city. The view is incredible and definitely picture worthy. Whether you're in the fitness center or out in the pool or hot tub, you get the same great view. The neighborhood is up and coming. You are in walking distance of everything you need in the city but far enough away where you aren't in the heart off all the traffic, clutter, and noise. Let me just say again that the staff here is awesome! I seriously could go on because there is more to be said... but I suppose that's how it should be if you love where you live. I hope this review helps anyone who is looking for a new place. My only tip is to check it out for yourself and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Yelp
Brief stay here, overall it was quite nice. Parking is offered I believe but since I was short term, we did not park on premise but it does exist. The city of Philadelphia has horrible traffic logic and I don't plan on visiting nor driving in Phili anytime soon. About Goldtex, nice building with upscale amenities. Two elevators that require a fob to operate and the halls have nice color and decor. The units are quite spacious and have tall ceilings. We were in a 2-bedroom and without the loft of the 1bedrooms you are awarded a mighty amount of space. The views are quite. The main bathroom had a nice deep non-jetted jacuzzi tub. The doors are frosted so light does shine through and not a ton of space but a king worked in our unit. Security is good and that is good because Phili requires good security -- the worst homeless population I have ever experienced with experience in Washington DC, Cleveland, and Los Angeles.

Yelp
AN ACTUAL VERBATIM EMAIL I WROTE TO MANAGMENT: Hey, Crystal! I hope you don't mind me reaching out. My name is Anthony and I just wanted to take a quick second to let you know that we recently had the absolute pleasure of working with Brett and to just make you aware of how truly helpful he really was. If all goes well I am soon to be a resident of the Goldtex apartment building(to which we are very much looking forward to and it quite literally wouldn't have been easy, if not impossible without the help of Brett. I make a large portion of my salary "off the books" for lack of a better term, and I typically have a few hoops to jump through to prove that I am more than able to handle the rent. As I'm sure you can attest it isn't always easy getting that point through to people on your side, understandably so, and very often I'll choose an apartment based on the hospitality of those in the position to be understanding than dismissive. Without Brett working with us the way he has done for the past week (and with no means for exaggeration to this point) we would have just as easily gone somewhere else and given another building our patronage and money for the next 14 months as opposed to, happily, coming to live in your residence! I have worked in customer service pretty much the entirety of my adult life in one form or another so I understand what it's like to have things fall by the wayside; only here from people when there was a problem... I won't take up anymore of your time but I just wanted to let you know how wonderful he was in both execution of his job and far beyond that. Have a great week, I appreciate you taking the time to read this as well!

Yelp
Where should I start ?? I am a strong believer that Good things come to those who waits......... I was transfered to Philly for work (from Texas) and had literary (2) weeks to find a place to stay; After viewing almost (10) buildings in the City, my boss and I finally choose Goldtex; I have to say that we were a little concerned about the timeline on when the apartment would be ready; My move in date was moved once, management was very honest and keep me in the loop at all times; They even had me stay at the Aka in Rittenhouse sq; which was very nice of them; So anyway, I am FINALLY home and let me tell you it was worth the wait; I work long hours, coming home to a brand new state of the art apartment makes me a happy person; Thanks to all staff, including the contractors for making us feel right at home; Special Kuddos to Yvette, Josh and the security team that even helped me move some of my belongings;

Lera M.

Yelp
Move in to Goldtex, if you like to live under constant construction noise. Management promised, that all the work will be done by April. Here were are. April 22nd, construction is not anywhere near to be done. What can get pretty annoying, because they do work even on Sundays. BE PREPARED. Your utility bill will be around $200 for one bedroom apartment. That's a lot to pay to stay "green". (I do laundry couple times a week and take a shower twice a day).

I have lived at the Goldtex for the past year and I couldn't speak more highly about my experience.. The staff there are like family to me- Felicia, Wally, Jonathan, Hakim.. and more! They go out of their way to make you feel at home and taken care of. Beyond that, the amenities and location are top notch!! And beyond that I've met some really cool people also living in the building... Very sad to leave and I wouldn't be if my new job wasn't taking me to LA! I miss you Goldtex!

Yelp
It's imperative to start with this: MOST IMPORTANT PLEASE READ: Check out the "loading dock" before your move in and prepare to pay for a moving company. I made the mistake of taking Michelle's (a very nice helpful young womanexcept for this part) word that is was just a regular loading dock. The fact is, there is no ramp or anything and it is essentially a 5 foot high medieval wall with gravel, dirt at the base that you must lift everything up on to get into an elevator to get in your apartment. If you're not a young strong male, with strong friends who are easily paid in beer, wings and pizza... THIS WILL BE A MAJOR ISSUE and reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 Now to the apartment and building Goldtex is a great apartment with brand new everything, lights in the closets and the whole shabang. The kitchen and appliances are great, albeit without a manual. There is a washer/dryer in the place, the washer washes better than the dryer dries. The shower is EPIC, best hotel shower I've ever experienced that wasn't in a 5 star tropical resort. The loft is very useful as a dressing area, if that's something you're interested in. You can throw an inflatable mattress for your friends to sleep on or do yogo, it's a cool addition. Gym is nice, and the rooftop pool, though small, will be open this summer. I don't have a dog yet but the building is dog friendly. The concierge is friendly and helpful wherever possible. Like everything there are a few downsides. The walls separating the living room and bedroom are thin, so if you live with someone that could be an issue. It gets cold in the apartments because the ceilings are very high. I'll check back when I get my first heating bill. Any little issues we had were handled quickly and professionaly by the buildings manager. Overall, the building and everything about it is great. It's a few minutes from Reading Terminal Market, 20 minute walk to the Good Dog/Misconduct/Ladder15 part of Philly and another 5 to Rittenhouse. There are a few places within a couple blocks where you can eat, drink and be merry. Goldtex is a great choice but CHECK THE LOADING AREA FOR MOVE IN

Yelp
The pool and hot tub are officially open and fabulous. The rooftop is one of the best spots in the city. The gym is convenient and has everything you need. The staff is friendly and very personal. I would definitely recommend Goldtex, especially in an area that is up and coming.

Yelp
I absolutely hate this place went in to look at an apartment price was very high for the small size of the place....the staff was very rude and the one of the staff members smelled like marijuana....not to mention I almost got mugged on the way in.....I could never live at a place like that

Yelp
Been looking at spots for a while and this place was not at all what it was hyped up to be. Much smaller rooms than I expected and the neighborhood is certainly not what I call upscale for the prices. Bummer!

Yelp
Yesterday I was fortunate enough to meet with Brett and tour the property. The property is beautiful and the amenities are amazing. The floor plans are well laid out and the finishing is nice in the apartments. Brett was extremely personable and friendly. From the moment we arrived we were well taken care of. He answered all of our questions and showed me literally every floor plan available. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the building and the neighborhood. I will be honest with you, all though the building is beautiful, I may not have chosen to lease there without the customer service experience Brett provided. He is a phenomenal leasing agent and I felt comfortable working with him the entire time. He was friendly, professional, and very honest with us throughout the process. He went above and beyond as we worked with him for several hours. I appreciated his kindness and exquisite customer service. 5 gold stars. I'm looking forward to leasing with your management company and living at Goldtex due to all his hard work.

Yelp
This place is paradise. It's like living in a hotel. Everyone who works there is so courteous and helpful. The facility is always immaculate, and is always being cleaned. I lived in a 2 bedroom on the 3rd floor. My only complaint is that the master bedroom was really cold last winter, but maintenance had devised a plan to make it warmer this year, had I stayed. Unfortunately, I just had to move out b/c my commute to the suburbs for work is too long. Utilities were fairly expensive in the winter to heat the place, but I was running a space heater in my room all the time. The spare bedroom and main living area were nice and toasty. Pool, hot tub and gym on the roof are icing on the cake. Location is a little strange, but it's totally safe. There are a lot of homeless people around the neighborhhood, but there are several public assistance offices and services nearby. Local restaurants Prohibition Taphouse, Lift Cafe, Llama Tooth, and of course Brick and Mortar give you good dining options. You are walking distance to Reading Terminal, and even Whole Foods on Callowhill is not a long walk or bike ride.
