Are These Seattle Restaurants Worth The Hype? - Seattle - The Infatuation

"With K-Pop videos blasting from every corner and accordion doors that open up to create a breezy sidewalk patio, this Capitol Hill Korean spot blends right into Pike Street’s raucous energy. Its menu of street food isn’t quite as thrilling, though—there’s mushy tempura, bland kimbap, and oddly plump tteok-bokki in a sauce reminiscent of Spaghettios (sans childhood wonder)." - kayla sager riley, gabe guarente, aimee rizzo

Golmok Korean Market Bar is easily one of the coolest Korean spots in Seattle! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a fun, nostalgic market-style vibe that feels like you’ve stepped right into a trendy alley in Seoul. The atmosphere is lively yet cozy — filled with neon signs, upbeat music, and a crowd that’s clearly having a great time. The food is absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was flavorful and authentic — from the spicy tteokbokki to the perfectly crispy Korean fried chicken, seafood pancake, and cheesy corn. You can tell a lot of care goes into how everything is prepared and presented. The drinks were also amazing — they have a great selection of soju cocktails and creative mixed drinks that are refreshing and not overly sweet. A big shoutout to our server, Stella, who made our experience even better! She was so nice, attentive, and genuinely lovely the entire night. Even though the place was busy, she made sure we had everything we needed and always checked in with a smile. Overall, Golmok is such a fun place to hang out with friends, celebrate a night out, or just enjoy good food and drinks in a unique setting. It’s definitely a must-visit if you love Korean cuisine or just want a cool, vibrant spot in Seattle. We’ll absolutely be coming back — and hopefully getting Stella again as our server 💌

Google
Great place to get Korean street food! Super friendly service and there was no wait at all on a Saturday evening. My favorite dish was the Kim Popp! If you don’t eat too heavy and want to be perfectly full, the chicken can be split with three people and we shared the oden and kimbap together. I highly recommend and would come back!

Google
The restaurant is very vibey, just a little small and loud music which makes it a little hard to have conversations. Mung Bean Pancake: love how crispy it is. But could use a little more seasoning/flavor Spicy Rice Cake: I like that it’s very thick, adding more chewiness to it. Fish Cake Soup: soup has a good black pepper kick to it, fish cake is yum Korean Blood Sausage: not a fan, flavor is a little gamy imo

Google
For reference this experience was on a Friday at 6pm Seating was quick, staff is really friendly, if you turn your head around and look like you need something they’re quick to help ☺️ For their fall menu 2025, the chicken gizzards are definitely a go to. They didn’t have rice, but it would’ve been 🔥 with a side of it. Tteokbokki was on point 💯 This is the day I learned chestnut makgeolli > soju

Google
It's made to appear as a street food place, and certainly has that vibe. The prices are of a mid range place in Capitol Hill, don't expect street food prices. The vibe is unique, so I guess you're paying for it :) . I love that they gave us a free tteokbokki. Only had the mung bean pancakes otherwise, which were crispy and delicious. Needed the sauce from the tteokbokki to add flavor. The makgeoli quantity was great for the price, though it wasn't very strong.

Google
Pretty great Korean classic food offered here. This place is a very welcoming addition to the Korean bar food scene in cap hill. The seating can be a bit iffy if you sit outside the establishment but the great food and service should make up for it.

Google
The portion size was honestly a joke. The chicken was just okay. They’re serving street food, but the price point is nowhere near street food level. I might come back if my friends are really into it,, but I’d still be disappointed by how little food I’ll get. Cleanliness: Pass Service: Pass Vibe: Pass Taste & Flavor: Fail Revisit intention: Maybe

Google
Golmok might have the best tteokbokki in Seattle! (Maybe the best anywhere?!) The sauce is the perfect balance of spicy-sweet-salty, and I appreciate that they offer you more sauce if you run low. Their twigim (fried foods), are all perfect: crispy, delicious, and not too greasy! We ate here on a late night, so they were sold out of the chicken...the food was so good we had to come back earlier the next day to try the corn-cheese chicken! And we had planned to just order the chicken, but we could not stop thinking about the tteokbokki, so we ordered it again...no regrets! Basically, if you come here, you MUST get the tteokbokki!! It's perfect for dipping twigim and kimbap. They totally nailed the Korean "alley market" vibe, so it had my friend and I reminiscing on our Seoul study abroad days. This will be my go-to spot when friends visit from out of town!

Yelp
My wife wanted to try this Korean-style spot, and wow... we're so glad we did! As soon as we walked up, two ladies opened the door with big smiles and welcomed us in like family. They sat us down right away and started talking to us about their food and how everything is made -- such a nice touch. OMG... the food was unbelievably delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and made with absolute perfection. Every bite felt like comfort and love. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Expect about a 15+ minute wait, which is pretty typical for restaurants in Capitol Hill. The décor and vibe were great, but I personally didn't feel a welcoming energy. This might have been more about the hostess than the restaurant as a whole, but it still felt important to mention. The hostess was taking Polaroid photos of every group before and after us, but never offered to take one for our table. Maybe it's not a big deal to everyone, but it was noticeable. As for the food: it was decent. We really enjoyed the Kimbap - The Rossatite chicken with sticky rice, though, was a definite no for us. I wish the sticky rice had been placed more visibly.

Yelp
Golmok is a Korean bar serving street food that I thought was going to be overhyped but ended up being a pleasant meal. The kimbap, tteokbokki, and tempura were average. Nothing too special but the flavors were on par with any other Korean restaurant you could go to. I liked that they added some fried slice fish cake on the tteokbokki though, and that the rice cakes were chewy. I think you would be satisfied getting any of these. The stars of the show, for me, was the mala spicy chili rotisserie chicken and the oden pot. I thought the mala spicy chicken had a good amount of mala spice (kind of numbing to me) and was also garlicky. The chicken also was not dry.The sticky rice stuffing had the mala flavor as well and was an interesting touch. I had never had a dish like this before in a restaurant. For the size of the chicken, the price is a bit much though. The fish cake soup came in a little pot which was so cute. The soup was flavorful and they gave a lot of fish cakes. The drinks were also fun and delicious! I love highballs and I was so happy to see a lychee flavored one (my favorite!). The service here could be a hit or miss. I felt that it was hard to flag someone down when you needed something. They only have tables for smaller groups. I would say 2-4 is the ideal number to go with. I think it's a fun place to try once for sure.

Yelp
I checked out Golmuk Market Bar and tried the tteokbokki ($13), twi gim (3 pieces for $11), and the tonkatsu kimbab ($13). All of them were really tasty! The tteokbokki was flavorful and spicy--super good, but if you're sensitive to heat, maybe skip it. The twi gim was solid but felt a bit pricey for just three pieces. The kimbab was the standout for me--great flavor and fair portion size for the price. I also had two highballs: Like Jennie (cranberry + vodka) and Purple Dynamite (purple gin + grape). Both were fun and refreshing. Service was okay--I felt rushed to order even though I was waiting for a friend. When my friend arrived, the server still kept pushing us even after we asked for "a few minutes" a couple of times. It wasn't terrible, just a little too much pressure. The vibe is lively, music is blasting, and the place has a cool energy. There's bar seating and a few tables, so space is limited, but overall a great spot to hang out and enjoy some solid food and drinks.

Yelp
Was excited to check out this new spot. It took over the old Taku space right in Pike. Went on a Thursday evening and got sat right away at a high top. The server helped go through the menu and I ended up ordering a chicken and spicy rice cake for two people. The food was great although a little hard to navigate. The music was super loud so I was shouting over kpop all evening but the vibes are good. Overall a good experience and would love to come back and try more of the menu.

Yelp
I'm a fan of Tteobokki and I wanted to try theirs out! The Tteobokki rice cakes were made well. It was chewy and the sauce was flavorful, however, there wasn't an option to change the level of spice and the dish was definitely too spicy for me. There were also very little fish cakes, as it only came with 3 pieces. I added cheese corn dog (extra $5) because I was curious about it, and it was a let down as well. Nothing special about the corn dog, and it was not fresh at all. The service was okay. We were seated quickly, however, after we got our food, their service was essentially non-existence unless you grabbed their attention. The food didn't take that long to make. Their menu is a bit pricey so a heads up on that. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. A great place to hangout around capital hill, and there's indoor and outdoor dining.

Yelp
The vibes of this place was so cute!! Food was pretty decent, but definitely on the pricier side. I felt like the service was unfortunately lacking, I felt we were being rushed to order and leave even though we were only one of two tables. I'd probably come back with a bigger party

Yelp
Went on a Thursday night with a friend. Got there 15min early and got seated 5min before opening. No wait. We tried their very basic dishes (see photos) and we enjoyed them all. The crispy rice wasn't actually crispy and the pancakes were a little gooey in the middle, but all still flavorful and good. My fave was their fishcake soup. Good soup base and they had dduk, too! Probably not a good place for big groups, but 2-4 is doable. Would return!

Yelp
Delicious! This spot took over Taku, which had a similar vibe to here. We arrived at around 8pm on a weekday and still had to wait around 10 minutes or so for a table, but we got to sit outside which it was the perfect weather to do so. Between the 4 of us we got the tteokkbokki, tuna mayo kimbap, and mala rotisserie chicken which was the perfect amount. The tteokkbokki is gigantic which I love, and the sauce is the perfect sweet savoriness, and leans on the spicier end. The tuna mayo kimbap was good, but nothing too standout but was even better dipped in the tteokkbokki sauce. I will say though that the chicken was the star of the show - so juicy, perfectly seasoned, and the best part was the sticky rice stuffed inside! It was so flavorful and chewy and scrumptious. For what we got, the price was also super reasonable. I'd come back for more for sure!

Yelp
I can't get over how fitting the atmosphere here is with the loud K-pop music, colorful seating and all kinds of lighting inside here both dim and bright! My friend and I got here at around 5:30pm to their nearly fully seated interior, and I can see how there's a bunch of hype here; there's not really a restaurant like this in Cap Hill. It took the place of Taku and is opposite Honeyhole and therefore around the area of Doghouse Leather (lol). The menu is filled with Korean street food staples. We each got a Korean toast for ourselves, and tuna mayo and tonkatsu kimbaps to share. This was already a lot of food, but hey it's fun to go overboard! To add to that, our server gave us a free tteokbokki on the house too. My friend and I split this one the best we could. Thoughts on the food: - Just that one tteokbokki we had was amazingly tasty! I didn't want anything spicy when I ate here, but it was just so good! It was quite spicy, though it was easy to drown it out with all the other food we got. I might just get this on another visit here! - Both our kimbaps weren't as great as I wanted them to be. It's not to say they weren't good but the rice texture was slightly off for me, like it was too hard or too soft in some spots when I ate it. There wasn't anything too special about the taste profiles on either either. I prefer the ones at Moon's Kitchen's in Federal Way for now. - The Korean toast comes with ham, egg, cheese, mayo, ketchup, cabbage and jam all smashed into some lightly toasted white bread. Bread was soggy (probably because of the butter) but everything else fitted well. It's a pretty simple dish but I like that sometimes, especially when you pair ham, egg and cheese together. That's pretty standard, but just being in here somehow elevated my taste buds for a moment. Service was also prompt and quick though it was sometimes hard to flag someone down. Our server answered questions we had on the food and gave us her recommendations, refilled our water when we needed it and also checked on us every now and then. The hallways leading to the restrooms are very stylish too, along with one lit-up sign with some profanity that I don't quite mind at all. This isn't a place I'd go out of my way for but I did enjoy my time here regardless.

Yelp
Nice small place to have soju. Service is good. It'll be great if they had more food options especially more meat.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
The food was tasty and thought the number of options is a little smaller, the ways you can customize those options makes the menu feel bigger (ie pick your proteins or toppings). The service was friendly and speedy and we were seated right away at the bar. The format is the same as Taku was inside but the decor is updated and fresh, which gives it a nice vibe. I would definitely go back for snacks and drinks and they do have vegetarian and even vegan options. Be aware that all their gimbap seems to come with sesame seeds, even though the menu may not reflect that.
google avatar

Priscilla K.

Yelp
Kind and attentive staff Food overall is nothing special but is on theme to the retro/bar food and tastes good. BUT the chicken was new and something I had eaten in Korea only. Would recommend as a fun place to try with friends! We went on their opening weekend, got there 10minutes before they opened, and waited 1 hour. It would've been about a 45min wait but we wanted to sit at the table.

Yelp
Just went for their first day of soft opening. Super chill vibe inside - gave me a lot of Korean pojangmacha (street food) feels back from Korea! There was a long line for the soft opening weekend so it seemed a bit hectic for them, but the food was delicious! Tteokbokki: they use thick rice cakes and I liked the sauce. This has a true old-schooled street food taste from Korea. Twigim (Korean tempura): we ordered squid, veggies, porked stuffed pepper, and seaweed rolls. We really loved the fried seaweed rolls (김말이) - I saw a lot of other Korean stores just use frozen ones from Korean grocery stores but here, I could tell they made them fresh and that's so much better! Loved the porked stuffed peppers and squid as well. All of these pieces are huge! We had to ask for a scissor to eat them more easily. Odeng pot: fish cake and rice cake sticks come in pot, which looks pretty cute. The soup was super deep and flavorful. Boochimgae (fried mungbean pancake): this is a thick Korean pancake made with kimchi and pancake. My husband really liked it. I thought it was a bit too thick and wished it was more crispy, but I think that's just a personal preference. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars yet is that the service had some mistakes, although we understand this is their first day. The Odeng and fried dishes came out way before Tteokbokki. As someone who was born and raised in Korea, I'm used to dipping the twigim in tteobokki... but we realized they had forgotten our tteobboki order so we got it much later. By then, the twigim had gotten cold. It was still tasty but would've been much better if they had come out together. They had also forgotten some toppings on tteokbokki, but they were prompt in bringing them out when we mentioned it. I think our non-Korean server had some troubles with the menu item names which were in Korean. It was a bit of a struggle to place the order. Overall, we loved the food and I'm sure things will run more smoothly over time. Probably the closest thing to authentic Korean street food in Washington! I love this concept and I've had great experiences from the owner's other ventures like Chan, Meet, and the Cheese Room. Golmok did not disappoint and we are excited to come back after their grand opening!

Yelp
Im giving them 4 stars cus the staff was so nice! This wasn't what my friend and I were expecting when we stopped by here haha. We thought it was a restaurant with entrees but when we got here we realize it was bar with Korean drinking food. We were not really drinking otherwise this place would be great! Haha. We got tonkatsu kimbap and the onsen pot to start. I also ordered the matcha lemonade highball and that was really! I was curious about the tteokbokki but didn't want to order it if the sauce was sweet. One of the cooks heard me cus he gave us a piece to try. Loved the rice cake but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. We'll come back another time to hang out. The staff was too nice !
google avatar

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, especially when they open the doors to outdoor seating during the summer. It is pretty expensive and there is no formal process to be on standby. Was told to wait outside without a number or dropping a name. A bit strange...but I guess it worked out for our small group? Rotisserie chicken is juicy and delicious. It wasn't dry at all for us. Also quite like the twigim as well. Not sure if it's normal to have that much batter but it was tasty!! I don't know authentic korean bar food, so that's the only reason for not giving 5. Would still come back.

Yelp
Was so excited for a new Korean bar in Capitol Hill Seattle, but left feeling disappointed. Cute, cozy pojangmacha-style vibe, but food didn't live up to the look. Tteokbokki was flavorful but mushy, kimbap veggies were overcooked with a strange taste, and beer was lukewarm with only bland Korean options--Seattle's local craft beers were sorely missed. The Nurungji chicken was overpowered by butter, though the odeng soup was the night's saving grace. Friendly but slow service. Hoping they improve, because the concept is great.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Ambiance is fantastic, and Golmok really livens up the street! Service was attentive and friendly, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food fell short. I was most excited for the crispy rice rotisserie chicken, my absolute favorite in Korea and something I haven't been able to find here, but the chicken came out dry, and the rice was drenched in oil instead of being light and crispy. Honestly, I've had better rotisserie chicken from a grocery store for a fraction of the price . I didn't get to try any drinks, but they all sounded delicious.

Marysia K.

Yelp
Cute place and good food, but a couple notes - Music is really loud, make it hard to have a conversation and this seems to be a place for first dates and casual chats so music shouldn't be overwhelming - Y'all should provide more dipping sauces! Especially with the tempura. I'm not super familiar with Korean sauces, but I think anything would be good- some ideas my table agreed on (lol) are sweet chili sauce, peanut sauce, or some sort of aoili.

Yelp
Truly impressed!! Delicious food! Great hospitality by Juan and we really can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
Came in 2 weeks ago and left feeling uncomfortable. The space is fine for a casual Capitol Hill market bar, but the service really took away from the experience. There didn't appear to be assigned sections, with servers rotating between tables. Even so, service felt bare minimum. Food and drinks were dropped, we got one quick check-in, and then nothing. Our water bottle ran empty and was never refilled, I ended up grabbing water from a nearby table myself. The food itself was just okay. Nothing memorable, nothing terrible. While a couple of staff members were friendly, one server we interacted with multiple times felt consistently cold. That same server also handled our payment, which made the checkout experience especially awkward. When closing the tab, the server hovered closely and watched as my partner selected the tip on the handheld device, clearly watching the screen the entire time. Using a handheld POS is normal but hovering during tipping is not. It felt pressured, uncomfortable, and honestly overshadowed the rest of the visit. Between the minimal service, the awkward atmosphere, and the checkout experience, we probably wouldn't return.

Yelp
Was excited to try this restaurant as it's brand new in a good spot. Overall I wasn't impressed and just thought things were expensive and just average. The tteokbokki tasted fine and I did note that the rice cakes were much larger than I was used to so it was chewier but it only came with 4 rice cakes and a few fish cakes -- for like 12 dollars idk if 3 dollars is fair for one rice cake. I was pretty disappointed in the kimbap as well, we think it had been prepared or something bc the meat wasn't warm and was hard by the time we ate it. Maybe we picked the wrong kimbap but it was mainly the tonkatsu for me and I didn't feel like it was evenly distributed with the veggies. The service was really nice and friendly and prompt and I really liked the decor and the outside seating area and I liked the dishes a lot, looks like Colby jack cheese.

Yelp
Golmok has been creating quite the buzz since its summer debut in Seattle. The restaurant is always packed whenever I pass by, so I was especially excited to finally score a table this past Sunday. Golmok is a Korean eatery located in the heart of Capitol Hill specializing in bunsik which is Korean street food. The building is very beautifully decorated and there is Kpop music playing which makes the atmosphere really fun. We got several items to try: Corn Cheese Rotisserie Chicken: ABSOLUTE MUST GET! This is the kind of dish you find yourself daydreaming about. The chicken is perfectly tender, falling right off the bone and covered in rich, creamy corn cheese. Inside the chicken there is steamed sticky rice and slices of garlic that add the perfect touch of flavor. My table was literally fighting each other to get the last few pieces of rice and garlic haha! This might be one of my favorite chicken dishes I've ever tried in Seattle and would highly recommend getting this when you come. Tuna Mayo Kimbap: Classic kimbap dish with tuna and an array of Korean veggies and steamed egg. Everything tasted really fresh - wish there was some sauce to accompany the rolls but still enjoyed it nonetheless. Mung Bean Pancake: A surprise favorite for us from the menu - these mung bean pancakes were crispy, comforting, and came with a side of pickled radish that added the perfect crunch. The portion sizes are huge and comes with four big pieces of pancake. Fish Cake Soup Oden Pot: This dish was super unique because it comes in a little teapot with broth inside that you can pour into your cup and drink. It really reminds me of the small food stands in Korea where you can purchase sticks of Fish cake and drink the broth. The broth was very umami and flavorful while the fish cakes were perfectly chewy and soft. Milkis and Strawberry Milkis Drink: One of my favorite asian drinks! If you have never had Milkis, it is a milky creamy carbonated drink that comes in a variety of flavors. You can mix this with soju for a fun cocktail or drink by itself. Overall, I'd say Golmok absolutely lives up to the hype. Every dish we tried had its own charm, but that Corn Cheese Rotisserie Chicken alone is worth the trip. The atmosphere is lively, the food feels both nostalgic and elevated, and it's clear why this spot has become one of Capitol Hill's newest hot spots.

Yelp
New korean spot that just opened up next to salt & straw. Maybe it'll redeem cap hill asian food, maybe it won't. Its ambiance is strikingly similar of the previous restaurant it replaced: Taku. It appears they're going for a late night korean street food with alcohol accompaniment vibe. The tteokboki's sauce was pretty typical, but the rice cakes were anything but. They resembled engorged but edible versions of the michelin man and the texture was overly chewy. 3 out of 5. The oden pot broth, however, was very very good and this was a sleeper. The perfect amount of salty, savory, spicy, and a deep flavor profile. The tuna kimbap was quite typical and there a prevailing tuna taste. It is canned though, so don't get caught off guard. The korean toast was also very standard, except the jam really messed up the chaotic amalgamation that korean toast normally is. It was overpowering and sour and really diverged attention away from the other flavors. I think that menu item would benefit a lot from keeping the jam in the jar, so to speak. I think cap hill's asian food remains where it is. This restaurant was fine but doesn't move the needle.

Yelp
I had the greatest dinner here! We were treating some friends for catsitting and this was a fantastic place for a shared meal together. The staff was so friendly even with how extremely busy it was - there was a line out the door and some. We waited a while for a table and they were so thoughtful they gave us free milkis when we were seated. And of course the food was gooooood. The rotisserie chicken in particular was a standout. The corn cheese treasure trove that sat above the sticky rice made my day. Put sticky rice in anything and I'm guaranteed to love it. And it came with pickled daikon and cabbage. So much food and so worth the cost. The toast, tteobokki, oden, and kimbap were also all great - although if they hadn't run out of the soondae or pancake we probably would have gotten that over the kimbap. Love the structure of the restaurant too. It's a small space but feels so open. My boyfriend mentioned he's glad that even though Taku closed, the space has been taken over by a great alternative.

Leah Z.

Yelp
The food was perfect. Simple menu, small sides come with the chicken that really bring it out! Also tried their chestnut Korean drink was refreshing and delish! Did not plan on going here but was incredibly surprised

Yelp
This place where you can find real Korean food. 100 percent recommend this place. Nice service and nice vibe too

Yelp
Best vibe, rotisserie chicken (mala) is the best! Excellent service from the staff! Kimbap is a must try.

Yelp
I was excited to go to try this new restaurant, but left disappointed. While the ambiance and vibes were great, the food was bland. The Bindae-tteok (pancakes) lacked flavor and the Tteok-bokki (rice cakes) were alright. The tonkatsu kimbap was the best dish there.the dishes are extremely pricy for the quality of food. The servers were all very attentive and nice.
