"This semi-hidden Highland Park cocktail bar tucked behind Arroyo Club always seems to have the right amount of people inside—crowded enough to classify as a social scene, but not so packed that you have to stiff arm someone for a seat. There’s a nightly DJ spinning records in the corner, and the cocktails are all impressively nerdy, with ingredients like vegetal chartreuse, green salt, and honeysuckle-washed gin. "Located in a small building off Figueroa in Highland Park that can only be accessed through a back alley, Good Housekeeping reads like another high-concept speakeasy bar you were tired of two years ago. It’s just the opposite. Inside you’ll find a warm, tiny room filled with comfy banquettes, a casual crowd comprised mostly of locals, and tremendous cocktails. "Despite being semi-difficult to find, this backroom bar behind Arroyo Club in Highland Park always seems to have the right amount of people inside (busy, but not overcrowded). This intimate brick-walled bar has a nightly DJ spinning hip-hop and early 2000s R&B records in the corner, and the cocktails are all geeky in the best way, made with things like green salt and honeysuckle-washed gin. "You like fancy cocktail bars, you just don’t like waiting 35 minutes for a chicken to lay an egg in the back so the bartender can put egg white foam on your drink. Go to Good Housekeeping in Highland Park. The small cocktail bar in a standalone building behind Cafe Birdie has some of our favorite cocktails on the Eastside, but without the big crowds and wait times you might have experienced at other spots. The place only has a handful of tables, so while it’s not great for big groups, it’s a perfect nightcap spot after a dinner date." - brant cox
