Been to Good Time Charley's a couple times now, for lunch during the Ann Arbor Art Fair, and for drinks during a pub crawl. Good Time Charley's is known for their infamous colossal fruity fish bowl drinks. They are huge at 64 oz served in a giant mason jar and have over 20 different varieties of fishbowls to choose from. You have the option of ordering any cocktail as a 22 oz glass for $8.75 or a 64 oz fishbowl for $16.75 but the fishbowl is definitely worth the price because you will be sipping it all night. The fishbowls could be split but we usually end up each ordering our own. Some varieties of fishbowls are much more potent than others. Our bartender told us the blue varieties seemed to be heavier on the booze with a higher alcohol content. The Blue Balls, and Blue Baracuda are some of the more potent fishbowls. Our bartender was very friendly and helpful and offered recommendations. He suggested the Fishbowl fishbowl as his favorite which was raspberry vodka, Island Blue pucker, lemonade, and sprite. It wasn't overly sweet and tasted like a blue raspberry sweet tart. My friend ordered it and I had a sip and it was very good. I ordered the Pink Cadillac fishbowl which was dragon berry rum, pinnacle blueberry, strawberry pucker, pineapple juice and sprite. They were unfortunately out of pinnacle blueberry but the bartender subbed it for Stoli blueberry for no extra charge which was very nice. The Pink Cadillac was good but probably a little too sweet for such a large drink. The Pink Cadillac was also probably less potent than the fishbowl I had the last time I stopped in. Another friend got The Darkness which was lemon vodka, peach schnapps, strawberry liquor sour and sprite, also on the sweeter side. I think the other time I came here, I had either the Shady Lady or Liquid Lucy and they were good too. The fishbowls basically taste like Kool-Aid and you don't even notice you are drinking alcohol until you are halfway through them, so they definitely sneak up on you, lol. Dangerous yet delicious. Good Time Charley's also offers boozy iced teas, beer and premium fishbowls which cost a bit more than the traditional fishbowls. We most recently came on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. We had 10 of us and they were busy but easily accommodated our large group. The host was very nice and suggested us taking a seat at a large wrap-around booth by the bar. Service was slow initially and it took awhile to get waited on at first so a couple of us ordered at the bar but once the sever did come over, she was great and brought out pitchers of water and was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. They have a ton of shot and shooter varieties at Good Time Charley's and for my friend's birthday they brought out a shot topped with whipped cream and a candle and the whole bar sang happy birthday to her. Atmosphere is fun here with a pub-feel, low light, and tap handles around the ceiling and fun music playing.
Their food is also very good and they offer traditional pub fare. When I came for lunch during the Ann Arbor Art Fair, I had the California burger which came with melted swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado on a brioche bun. The burger was very juicy and delicious. The burger came with fries and I upgraded to sweet potato fries which were very good. The burger and fries were $11.99 and most menu items are affordable at around $11-$12. They also offer tacos, wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, nachos, wings, and more. Always have fun here! Great atmosphere, excellent friendly service, delicious food and drinks. One word...fishbowls! They are famous for them! If you stop in for no other reason, the fishbowl is a must!
