"GoodTimes Brewery is a brewpub in Lakeview serving OK beer, and food that’s an afterthought. The menu is primarily full of thin-crust pizzas drowning in flavorless cheese and watery sauce, plus sandwiches and burgers. There’s also BBQ with various smoked meats, like ribs, brisket, and wings that are overcooked and over-sauced. Ignore the food and focus on the beer instead—there are about nine beers on tap, some of which will probably be flat, but you can hedge your bet by ordering a $15 flight. The comically cavernous, 10,000-square-foot, warehouse-chic space is great for huge groups, so keep it in mind the next time your entire department wants to skip work to drink beer and watch a Cubs game." - Veda Kilaru

"Smylie Brothers Brewing Company has opened a new 10,000 square-foot brewpub in the Lakeview neighborhood. Despite not being listed on their website or social media, the location has been busy since its quiet opening. This is the second location for the brewery, with the first being in Evanston. The Lakeview location offers a similar menu to Evanston with some variations, including a ribs combo platter and brewery-specific beer. The venue features three separate bars and approximately 140 seats across booths and tables, with interior designs including shou sugi ban, a Japanese wood-burning technique. The brewpub aims to serve the local community with a focus on live music and craft beer." - aimee.levitt

Good times has really stepped up their game since they opened. The new Pats Pizza is phenomenal, and the craft beers keep me coming back. I hadn’t had an opportunity to try them all. Our server Rinku was great at helping suggest new flavors based on my taste. A great place for a weeknight pizza and beer.

We had an amazing dinner tonight! My husband and I have been here many times, and this was one of our favorite visits! Issac took care of us with having two rounds of drinks and dinner. He was extremely kind, patient and helpful. I was asking for his help to get a certain drink I had last time and he was able to get it for me. The drinks and food were absolutely anazing. We had the Burrata (my favorite in the city) and pulled pork with fries. Equally incredible. We love coming here and hope we have Issac every time! Caitlin and Sean

Google
Pizza is awesome, beer is solid and they have a lot of variety! Great place for good food and good beer. The staff is also very nice and helpful. Always a pleasure.

When you step into Good times, its like being transported to the burbs Rick and Morty portal style. Are you an older millennium or younger Gen x with no taste? Are you scared of bars that look too divey? Do you love sterile characterless establishments? Perhaps eating under a sound stage with or fluorescence lights? Or eating on an island of table in a warehouse setting? Maybe kids running around as you enjoy an okay beer brewed on site? Maybe you love a mid-2000s highschool girl music playlist? In all honesty, this place has the weirdest vibe in wrigley. The beer is ok. The cocktails I'm sure are good but look uninspired. The lighting really sucks with fluorescence coming from the brew area and bright lights pointed down at you. The service is nice but pushy when we just sat down. Prices are a tiny high but it's Wrigley Soo... They are very gay friendly which is cool. Would be a great place for business event. The pretzel we got was disappointing. Dry and small and didn't even taste pretzelish... More like bread covered in salt and butter. Won't be back. But the cleanliness is very high in bathrooms and main area. Pats pizza is great too.

Google
It's a good place to go with friends especially on game days, spacious place, variety of beer, good service, I ordered shrimp tacos which were delicious, I was a little disappointed with the cocktail, a lot of ice and little flavor, very weak , it looked like water with lemon. But I intend to go back!

I love this place! The food is excellent but the service is even better! I keep coming back for both! I’m moving but not too far and I will be back for sure. Give Good Times Brewery a try. You will not be disappointed!

Google
Great atmosphere, food and service. The brisket was great, as were the ribs and salad. Two of us ordered 2 different blonde beers from their brew. Both were very good. We will be back for sure.

Amazing place. Very warm host greeted us. The food we got was amazing and the whole aesthetic of the place is nice, cozy, and welcoming.

Yelp
Amazing drinks and great food. This is my second time being here and it has been wonderful experience both times. Lived the beer flight. Great way to try different flavors. Great service and desserts. Easy to find parking near by. The place is spacious and very nicely decorated Great ambiance.

Yelp
We came for a deal on Jumbo slices and beer but unfortunately it was take-out only for that deal. We decided to dine in anyway and everything was solid. Lots of different food and drink options. Very spacious and cool atmosphere inside. Seems like a great place to watch sporting events and grab some food and drinks!

Yelp
This place is very much a mixed bag. It looks nice inside and we were seated quickly. The staff was very nice to my guest and I. So, nothing to complain about there. However, the rest of the experience was very average or below. I didn't want pizza or a burger - so, I went for the Pulled Pork BBQ plate. It was kind of gross actually. First, it basically tasted of nothing. I could taste no smoke or anything that would qualify it as BBQ... my friend had the ribs and he definitely tasted the smoke. I told him mine had nothing and told him to try to make sure it wasn't just me. He agreed - there was no smoke, no flavor. There was a very small side of BBQ sauce on the side, which gave it something. Then the meat itself was mostly fat though. I kept biting into fat and got so grossed out I just stopped eating and spit it back onto the plate. The tater tots were ok - but maybe a bit overcooked. My friend thought his ribs were passable - but were kind of tough. He was more used to ribs that kind of fall of the bone. Not these. But he said he did like the smoke and the sauce. So, that was ok I suppose. Neither one of us had any of their beers. In all, probably won't return. Not impressed by the food. My friend has had better as well. And the prices were stupid high. A burger with fries here was AT MINIMUM $26 (the fries are a la carte). Want some bacon? +$4. Change the fries to Mac and cheese? Add $2 more. So, $32 for a bacon cheese burger and a side of Mac and cheese...?! lol - and you thought Five Guys was expensive!! TLDR; the service was good and friendly, drinks were kept filled, and the ambiance very nice. The food was mid to below average. Prices were super high for the quality. No one bothered to ask how the food was which I thought they might - given most of what I ate was spit back onto the plate. I Can't comment on the beers as I didn't have any that night. I doubt I'll return. But the people serving and hosting seemed very nice even if the food was poor.

Yelp
One of the many restaurants/bars near Wrigley Field. Had a blast on our visit after the Cubs game. Great service staff (the place was jammed) and the food was excellent. Fun atmosphere.

Nancy S.

Yelp
great friendly place, great wine and hard alcohol too. Extensive menu..pizza is excellent

Jo S.

Yelp
Overall I really like having this place close by. During the weekdays it can definitely be very quiet. When I went on a Thursday for dinner there weren't that many people so the bartender was also doing the role of our waiter but I did not mind that at all. He was great and very welcoming. Had the nachos and fish tacos and both were delicious. They have a huge space that you can rent for events so highly recommend looking into that if you want to host a birthday party or another celebration.

Wayne D.

Yelp
Good place for a night drink or quick food Typical bar environment Pizza is reasonably priced and lots of meat. I customers the pizza and they put way too much cheese. Wish less cheese and more of the pesto sauce. Kinda too cheesy at the end of it. Texture's ok. Good for the price Wisconsin Cheese curd: ok but wish a bit more crispy on the outside and soft inside Beef brisket plate: really tender meat. Love the balance between fat and lean meat. Good flavor as well Price is good for this amount of food

Maddie E.

Yelp
Delicious food, drinks, service, and wonderful workers! This is our local neighborhood pick for just my husband and I, or if we have friends in town. We love how they always decorate for the holidays and host trivia night and fun events frequently!

Charles B.

Yelp
Discovered this casual little place after the cubs game. Great choice and amazing prices. Their salads and pizza were great -- we were able to choose between deep dish and tavern style. Not many places have that option. Great cocktail and beer selection too. Perfect place to watch the game. Service is fast and friendly. I'll be back with the fam.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I had a fantastic time at trivia on Tuesday night at 7 pm here. The server was incredibly attentive to our drinks and food orders. We enjoyed the Pat's pizza very much. My husband and I are big fans of good thin crust pizza. The restaurant is spacious and abuzz with activity on Tuesday trivia night. My husband and I will be returning--with friends!

Derek M.

Yelp
Great place to meet up with locals and play trivia or hear an open mic. Good beers and getting better with each visit.

Kurt K.

Yelp
Issac is the bomb, great beers and i like the music/the aux. the food is also good - good portions

Marissa M.

Yelp
I happened to be walking and saw this place! Great interior. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Great variety of beer. Down to come back and try food!

Amber B.

Yelp
Good service (from Dana!), very good tater tots and ranch, fun ambiance. Usually a good amount of seating. Definitely recommend!

Katie N.

Yelp
I stopped in here on my walk to Wrigley. This place was super packed. I sat at the bar, and they were slammed. I tried 3 of their beers on my visit, and all were tasty (double ipa, ipa, and hazy). For something to eat, I ordered the caprese sandwich. Although tasty, it took 40 minutes for me to receive my sandwich. My friend was going to order food, but since it took so long, we just split it. Friendly service behind the bar from both bartenders working as well as the bar back. I would recommend their beer, but if you are in a time crunch, food may not be your best option.

Kimmy G.

Yelp
Such a cute spot and really tasty beers! Got a flight for $15 and almost went for round 2 because was so good and so many other ones I wanted to try. Great and speedy service. Have trivia and good happy hour too! Will definitely be back.

Edward E.

Yelp
We've been to Smlileys and hesitated to come here. We're so glad we did. The food is so so much better!! We had burgers and pizza, both excellent!! The pizza is the best in the neighborhood. So much better than the bar in Buena Park. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Service was excellent too!

Micah Angelina S.

Yelp
great playlist on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Chicago - grabbed a THC infused beverage at the bar with a side of let the good times rolls and cheese curds. friendly bartender which is always awesome! not far from the Riviera so stop by before your next show for a drink and bite to eat!

Daniel S.

Yelp
New brewery that last year opened up in the spot where the Lakeview Smylie Brewing used to be. I'm glad something was able to go into that space so soon, and a brewery at that, as it's a great space, lots of room inside with ample bar space and tables, and multiple bars throughout the place. Plus it's in the heart of Lakeview, so near a lot of things, including Boystown and Wrigley. They have a good beer list, lots to choose from, I got 3 different IPAs, all really good. Dynomite may have been my favorite. For food, me and my friend split the chips and guac and then a montrose meat lovers pizza. It had soft crust and lots of meat, very tasty. They also had several sandwich options to choose from, from BBQ to burgers to chicken, that I'll definitely want to try next time. I'd happily come back, both for the food and the beers that I didn't get to try. Nearest L stop would likely be the Sheridan red line, or you can meter park on Broadway. Happy to see another brewery open up in the city!

Melanie V.

Yelp
Solid wings-- they are very sauces and hot from the fryer! Great pulled pork and French fries. Max and cheese is really bad...there is something weird about it, even my child would not eat. Chicken sandwich was pretty dry but we could power through with the beers. Fast service, clean bathrooms, dogs allowed, and plenty of space. We would likely come back.

Daria B.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and beers! Love the vibe and the space! Great space for kids to play and run around.

Adam W.

Yelp
The service was fast and friendly, but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. We started with cheese curds, which at $14 was alot for the average-sized portion. I got the brisket sandwich for $19, and got only 2 small slices of brisket. The mac n' cheese side (not included) was huge but when you order a brisket sandwich, the brisket should have been the star of the meal. There was more pasta and even more bread than brisket. The beers were decent and what you'd expect at a brewery. I got the Hefeweizen, yummy! I'd have left 3 stars because they were so friendly but when we got the bill we couldn't believe that the $18 burgers (also not that big) and $19 sandwich didn't come with sides! Admittedly the menu didn't say if sides were included or extra, but our waitress didn't ask us if we wanted a side. She asked, "what would you like for your side?" so we all assumed they were included. $3 extra for (an average amount of) onion rings and $3.50 extra for (a big) mac and cheese. And these were not big sandwiches to begin with. At least one of our party got the pizza which he thought was pretty good. And the fountain sodas were $4. I went to Smylie a few times during their brief tenure in this space and enjoyed their creative and diverse menu. But this new place overcharges and underdelivers. Maybe they have to charge more to pay the rent in such a big space? Either way, I don't expect this place to last very long.

Minh P.

Yelp
I think I would want to give it a 2.5 stars. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out to me. I think the prices are a bit steeper than they should be. Service wasn't bad, and the ambiance wasn't bad either, but again, nothing was exemplary. I got the grapefruit radler which was a bit bitter for my taste. I think they made it in house, which is cool, but I prefer ones that I've gotten in cans. We also tried two pizzas (Belle Plaine BBQ + Belmont Pesto) and the cheese curds. All of the food was solid, but the pizzas and curds were a bit pricey at $22 and $14 respectively. I would've liked to have more and bigger curds for that price. Between the two pizzas, I preferred the BBQ one. Again - not bad, but nothing to write home about. The space is very large with tons of seating. It wasn't super filled up when I went on a Thursday evening, so I imagine it would be easy to walk in. There was constant dance/house/EDM music playing, which was an interesting vibe for a brewery. Take that for what you will. I did not have a bad experience here, but I would probably want to try out some other breweries around town before I came back.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Great food and drinks, especially the cookie skillet! No complaints Mostly came for trivia and it was challenging but fun

Colin B.

Yelp
Today I tried the new owner's pizza. I was lucky enough to sample the Veggie, Cheese, and Pepperoni pizzas. The cheese pizza was my favorite, unadulterated thin crust goodness. The crust was able to come through as the main character, as it should as their pizza is known for their cracker like crust. The pepperoni was nice as well. Not too heavy and it didn't detract from the thin crust and sauce that shined through. The veggie pizza was my least favorite of the three, but still very good. For how thin the crust was, it cannot have the veggies making the undercarriage so soggy. Overall, I enjoyed my pizza experience and the new owners were very welcoming and enthusiastic to make sure I enjoyed my food and experience. If you are looking for a nice brewery with a great line up of beers and a great pizza, then I highly recommend this joint!

Davina S.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot. Everyone is very welcoming. I enjoy the bartenders and the master brewer. This place recently went under new management and a huge turn around with the food menu. Come check them out and support. Lunch times are opening soon.

Joshua W.

Yelp
The beer and food were both fine. Easily would have put my review at a 3, maybe a 4. My issue was that I was charged for a food item that I didn't order or receive. They use those Toast POS systems, so I wasn't able to review my bill before paying. I was just presented with the option to tip. I emailed myself the receipt and when I got home I noticed the extra charge. I tried emailing them but was never responded to.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Awesome new brewery in the former Smylie Brothers space. The beers and seltzers we tried were delicious, and the bartender was knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Food menu is huge - they offer BBQ, tacos, pizza, salads and sandwiches/burgers. Good luck deciding! Will certainly be back to try other things.

Chris W.

Yelp
Let me tell you. If you want a good time you go to Good Times Brewery. They are just as good now (if not better) from when they opened. Me and my friend went for a late happy hour (btw they half half off beers for it too) but we stayed for the company. Our server was so kind. The service it literally impeccable. The Mac and cheese pizza is to die for. Our food was running a little late and without asking they comped an appetizer for us and apologized for the wait. But the beer is so good we didn't even notice. I can't tell you enough how much I recommend this place. It's definitely turned into my go to brewery in the area (and they have something for everyone, even home brewed seltzers!). 100/10 recommend!

Molly K.

Yelp
For just opening, this place knows what they're doing! Food was good, we had the chips and guac with the Belmont pesto pizza. To drink I started with the Chicago gold, it tasted light and refreshing. A great beer to enjoy on a summer day. For my 2nd, I tried the Bizmark Gardens. It's DELISH. The notes of banana make it super fun and a great dessert. The brewer, Ray, came and stopped by our table to introduce himself and he was very kind and excited to share his knowledge about the beers. Definitely a nice local brewery. We will be back! Side note: The music is amazing. Good vibes here for sure.

Marci D.

Yelp
We've been there twice. The pizza is the only thing that's good. The wings taste like rubber, the pulled pork was passable, the brisket was dry and hard, the cheese curds were boring, the tatter tots were dry and hard and the ice cream on the brownie had a layer of ice on it. The service was lacking as well. Though the waitress was nice, they didn't bring us water and spoons to eat our dessert with. We probably should've learned our lesson the first time we went, very disappointing

Nick M.

Yelp
Confusing setup & no FOH engagement. Second time here. Terrible service both times. Ended up walking out without a single person greeting us after 10 minutes on the 2nd attempt in an almost completely empty room with un-bussed tables. There seemed to be plenty of staff on so not sure what the issue is. Cant weigh in on food because we never had the opportunity to order it. Went to 2 other spots on the same stretch that day. Greeted & served within 5 mins in a packed place. Hope you can get it corrected but hard pass for me.

Falon M.

Yelp
The smoked wings are so yummy! They also added pasta and pat's pizza to the menu which I enjoy! We are bar folks. The bartenders ( Dinero, Karen and Nate) are very welcoming!

Jacob H.

Yelp
New spot that has similarities to brewery it replaced. The Beers I had were solid and they were kid friendly. I'd recommend if in the area!

Sanjiv N.

Yelp
We went for Trivia night which is held every Tuesday. Great event and our party of four enjoyed it. We ordered the Baja and the Bang Bang Tacos, both of which hit the spot. We followed up with a vegetarian pizza (Pat's) which was also delicious. The new cocktails are a great value for money and taste on par with any "fancy" bar. Recommend the Bardstown cocktail or the Negroni. We also tried the flight of beers which all tasted fresh and good. Service was efficient and the overall ambiance was peaceful.

Bernadette R.

Yelp
The beer is not good. As a Chicago brewery I expected much better quality. The service was TERRIBLE and they tried to charge us for for things we didn't order after waiting 39 mins for a server to take our order. The ambiance doesn't fit Chicago brewery atmosphere and is way more online with a chain brewery. Though I would rate some of those higher than this place. No stars.

Pamela B.

Yelp
Great food; chicken sandwich on focaccia to the chicken nachos and the pizzas are amazing; love the caprese

Davy P.

Yelp
Always great beer rotation and food here! They even have their own seltzers that are brewed

Will J.

Yelp
I was excited to visit the new spot that Smylie's took over. I enjoyed the atmosphere but that is where it ended. We ordered beer, ribs with coleslaw and a burger. If you have read any of the other reviews, it should not be a shock at this point - the place is $$$$ for a neighborhood "pub". The service was amazing and our server was attentive and intuitive. I enjoyed my ribs but if you have had ribs from Panino's or a Windy City Gyros - you have had Smylie's ribs and because I enjoy those places, I enjoyed these just the same. My partner got the burger and took one bite and asked me to try it. The burger was strange - it was rubbery and tasted like a frozen hospital cafeteria burger. So mixed experience is the best way to describe it - the service and drinks were great but the food was not, I hope they can switch it up some and get their food as good as everything else - I want to come back but it may be alone LOL...

Jon G.

Yelp
I really want to like this place because they're a fun addition to the neighborhood, but.... Why did I just pay $25 for that pizza? $14 for iffy cheese curds? Why was my pint of beer $10? The food was very underwhelming. The brisket on my boyfriend's sandwich was obliterated. Service was shaky but understandable given they just opened. The interior is well finished thanks to Smiley Brothers, the restaurant that previously occupied the space. Good Times added some trendy-ish selfie wall neon signs. I want this place to work, there's so much potential here! At the moment they're a snack bar, I hope they can do better.

Alessia W.

Yelp
I had a great time here! I went for trivia and had some great food and drinks. 10/10 would recommend

Patrick G.

Yelp
Good food - great service. Loved the names of the dishes. A really cool space! I really liked the Kenmore street salad. Wings were great!

Danyelle T.

Yelp
Beers and drinks are great. Great place to relax and hang out. Appetizers are good. Brisket nachos are great but the pulled pork plate is mediocre at best. Definitely not somewhere to go for the BBQ.

Grant J.

Yelp
good service and decent food. venue is really nice for events. Nothing wrong with place, very solid selection, food could be a little better but no complaints.

Nick H.

Yelp
Much improved from previous brewery that occupied the space. Pizza was good, friendly staff, and the hazy was great!

Bella C.

Yelp
Very solid food and service. Great with my brothers allergies. Quick service and very nice. The waiter checked up on us a perfect amount. Cool vibe. Large portions.

Geryl C.

Yelp
The brisket was dry and cold. Grateful that they served BBQ sauce with it so I could swallow without choking.

brenda s.

Yelp
This review is only for the wings which we ordered to go. They were really good- smoked, not breaded or fried, and really tasty even without sauce. We got buffalo sauce and bbq sauce on the side. The buffalo sauce was very good, and the bbq sauce was too sweet for me but my daughter and my husband liked it. Would definitely get again. Also they were ready before the quoted 20 minutes which is something as this place has only been open for about a week.

Eric U.

Yelp
Came for a good time, had a great time. The drink selection was great but do not recommend the pulled pork.
