Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the appetizers, but the food was great, would definitely recommend and go back. We shared the Champagne Battered Oyster Mushrooms and the Duck and (I think it was pork) Meat Balls for appetizers. Both were great, mushrooms were crisply with a hint of champagne with the honey vinaigrette balancing out the dish. The meat balls were tender and juicy. For mains we had the Spicy Crab Pasta and Fennel Pollen Dry Brined Amish Chicken. Both were fantastic. The Spicy Crab was the perfect amount of spiciness, albeit I can eat pretty spicy so ymmv on the spice level, the ragu was flavourful and had nice body to it. The chicken was super tender and full of flavour. I can see why it is one of their best sellers. We also had the Chocolate Stout Cake and the Mocha Eclair Cake for dessert. We unanimously preferred the Mocha Eclair Cake over the Stout Cake. All in all we very much enjoyed our night there and would recommend to all visiting Milwaukee.

6 of us went for dinner at Goodkind. We ordered a handful of small and large plates (oysters, Caesar salad, fries, halibut, spicy crab pasta, pork belly, Amish chicken, and the chocolate cake). Overall, the food was excellent. Good portion sizes, well spaced, and delicious. The spicy crab pasta was the crowd favorite. We sat near the kitchen, which was a bit more crowded than I expected, but overall we had an excellent time and great meal.

First time here. And we were very impressed (mostly). Make a reservation and got in right away. It was early Saturday night and the place was full. It's an interesting layout and design. Has a hip, art-deco vibe going on. Nicely lit and lot of interesting items to check out (wallpaper, plants, vases, etc). What we also noticed right away was both the noise level and how close the tables are. Our server got to us right away, and did an amazing job the entire night, checking in, clearing plates, getting drinks, and hot water my the tea. Thanks Eric! We got the Brussel Sprout Salad, along with the Meatballs, and Trout. All were excellent. Lot of flavors, textures, and good portions. I would say that it is the best Pan Seared Trout that I have ever had. Didn't have room for dessert, but maybe next time. Would love to come back. But the crowding of the tables, and the noise level, was less than optimal. Felt like we were part of 3 different conversations. It was a little hard to ignore. We might try another night, other than a busy Saturday night.

I UNDERSTAND THE 5 STAR REVIEWS NOW. Must-try in Milwaukee!! Probably the best food I’ve ever had in MKE, and that’s saying something. We were hoping to wing it on Valentine’s Day and got seats at the bar after a 30-45 min wait (where we just wandered around Groppi’s Italian market). Staff was very kind, and the VIBES were incredible. That’s what you’re really paying for here. The decor is super cute and unique, the environment is very warm. And, sound does NOT bounce off of the walls, so you can hear your party perfectly clearly above the noise of other diners. 11/10 experiences and can’t wait to come back again.

Came with some coworkers for a post-work dinner, and we all loved our food! We walked in at 5:30, and we were able to be accommodated at the chef’s table despite not having a reservation. We had mussels and sourdough bread to start, and the broth the mussels was in was incredible! I had the carbonara, and while I wish it was a bit creamier, it was still absolutely delicious. I also had a mocktail that was tasty and exactly what I had hoped for. Our server was amazing, and we honestly wanted to ask her to join us for our meal — she just matched our vibe! Definitely will be back!

Google
The customer service was amazing. They were really friendly and attentive. I got the GK burger. The Picture looked better than it tasted. The green tomato added absolutely nothing to the burger and it was missing some seasoning. The burger does not come with fries. You have to order that separately. The fries are nine dollars. Overall the place is pretty expensive. I paid close to $40 for beer fries and a burger. I’m not sure if I will come back just because the food was underwhelming despite being pretty pricey. However, the drink menu looks interesting and intriguing. Also, the restaurant is pretty crowded and small. It seems as though they tried to squeeze too many chairs and tables in such a small space and it was loud, which is probably due to it being so many people crowded in such a small space

Google
Wow! Incredible food. We got the artichoke risoto, fried oyster mushrooms, spicy crab pasta, and the chicken. All were fantastic. The cocktails were good too and staff was very friendly. Cute vibes inside too. I will be back asap!

Remember being a nice atmosphere... just had a drink, think there was something on the menu which had came for but menu changed why only got a drink. Would come back for dinner looked good, but was just looking for a small bite that night

Yelp
Very tasty, great dining experience. The walleye was a favorite and the oyster mushrooms were a great app. Fantastic ambiance, we were able to talk as a group very easily. The service was top notch! Would highly recommend!

Yelp
We returned to Goodkind, and it will be our last time. Perhaps, Goodkind, had a new chef or our trip to San Francisco spoiled us, but our food was not good. I had two bites of my Skate dish and stopped eating. The fish had been drowned in assorted stuff, and I couldn't discern any distinctive flavor besides some innocuous sauce. My wife's Spicy crab pasta didn't have much crab, and the spice overwhelmed any taste of the pasta. It, too, was drowned out by the sauce. This isn't refined cooking. I had forgotten Goodkind does not offer any simple bar food. Even their burger is only offered once a week. Their menu items lean towards creative cuisine, but their creations need more technique and refinement. However, Goodkind is always packed with eager diners enjoying this kitchen's food. Thus, I'm not their target audience. Goodkind is costly, too. For two entrees, one cocktail, and one glass of wine, our bill came to over $100.00. Go figure. Service leans towards smug with a touch of Bay View down to earth.

Yelp
I was initially disappointed in my Burek, as it didn't look or taste like Serbo-Croatian Burek. But I gave it a chance and realize that it was very good. Their dishes are like that, unique, tasty, not exactly what you might expect from the name or even the description. Nice place, ambiance is pleasing and comfortable though sometime inside can get too loud. When weather permits this is a great place to dine al fresco. Competent cocktails, attentive service.

Yelp
We had an excellent meal at Goodkind. Intimate and raucous at the same time, the place had a great energy. Our server was excellent and the food was really, really good (as were the cocktails). We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I went to Goodkind to celebrate my birthday and I'm so happy I did! First - the place is quaint and cozy. I loved the vibe and eclectic decor. I also loved the bar seating in the middle of the space - adds a lively atmosphere. I ordered a beer (some nice local options on the menu) and a great tequila / charred corn husk cocktail. Super creative. We split a bunch of appetizers and my highlight was definitely the vegan mushrooms. Crunchy and flavorful. I also got the burger special (only offered on Tuesdays) and thought it was creative and flavorful! The fries were great too. Somehow....there was room for dessert! Get the basque. It's sooooo good. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to Goodkind for years but finally remembered to put a reservation in a week ahead of time. The Hostess was friendly. And we were very quickly seated. The volume, although minimal music is loud just through people talking in close proximity. The walkways are a bit cramped between the bar and tables and then to the bathrooms. I would bring a sweater next time the air was running when it wasn't needed and right above us. I couldn't hide from it. CJ was very sweet. The menu has all the ingredients listed but not specifically what the dish is. For example instead of shrimp Currie it may say shrimp, coconut milk, peppers, etc. This results in a lack of understanding of what the dish is and looks like. We started with the Bar harbor mussels and Manila clams $18. About equal number of mussels and clams. All parts, seafood, sauce, green tomatoes, and bread very good. The Spice Rubbed Wild Gulf Shrimp or shrimp and grits is very good $28. Savory, limey. I don't like that the whole casing is left on. I know that used to show freshness but now just makes a mess. And then there's not much sauce left; it's all on the shells. The shwarma squash, $20, I didn't totally think works. It was new American aztex. The squash was crunchy. Maybe on purpose but odd. The tofu was fun, crispy. Since it's plain without the sauce I could have used more sauce, both the tofu sauce and the squash sauce.

Yelp
Super well balanced cocktails and relaxed-cool atmosphere draw you in, good food and friendly service keeps you. Loved the small plates and really enjoyed the main I ordered. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
So glad I finally got to try Goodkind! Made a reservation for Sunday night - they're open until 10 which is nice especially as a lot of other restaurants in the area seem to close earlier. There were a couple of open tables when we showed up at 8, but knowing ahead of time we wouldn't have to wait was nice. There is also plenty of street parking around. We ordered the seaweed chips, 2 small plates (shrimp and a mushroom tartine), and 1 large plate (the lavender/anchovy rubbed leg of lamb), and it was more than enough food for 2 people. My favorite was the mushroom tartine, mostly for the sourdough. Would recommend anything that comes with the sourdough! Everything we ordered was pretty good overall, although the lavender flavor on the lamb was a bit too strong for our preference. We finished off our meal with the mini gateau basque which was delicious and light. Overall a nice spot for a date night or to take out of towners to with its intimate/cozy but still casual vibe.

Yelp
Tucked away in a bay view neighborhood lies Goodkind. An old and beautiful bar takes up most of the restaurant, but a few tables have been added to convert it into the restaurant it is now: small, intimate, a great spot for a date I ordered the Brussel sprout salad, which was fine, dressing was a little too creamy for my tasy. Table also had the crab pasta and lamb and burrata. No complaints on any of the other food!

Yelp
Great service, great drinks, fantastic food, pleasant eclectic atmosphere. Best service of my life, (Jamie H), as a matter of fact. Very attentive, without being overbearing. Mussels had a delicious vinegar dressing. Chicken liver was great, just the right amount of strong taste and saltiness. All the bread that came with our meal was phenomenal. Pork belly came with a fantastic sauce. My only criticism was with the Cesar salad- the first few bites were out of this world, I wouldn't even call it a Cesar because it tasted better than a Cesar in every way. But after a few bites, the garlic was just a tad too strong. Will come back again, regularly.

Yelp
The spicy crab pasta was pretty delicious. I was informed everything is crafted in house including the noodles which from the texture I could tell was more fresh than store bought. Of course more crab meat would be nice! I would recommend!

Yelp
I love going to Goodkind. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is cozy and cute but still definitely a great date night spot - not too casual. They have nice indoor seating options with a cute patio. On our latest visit the service was sadly a bit off, so I can't give it the five stars I'd like to. The service was pleasant, but not around much. After our food was dropped off, we didn't see anyone until the bill was provided. Unfortunately I'd maybe attribute this to being short staffed, so hopefully next time is better. We started off with the Puffball mushroom. Definitely a fun thing to be able to try and it was tasty! Maybe a little over-fried but still good. I wish the portion size had been better for the price though. I had the Summer Sangria which was delicious, and we tried a few beers. Their beer selection is nice but the prices are too steep. They are definitely more expensive than at the breweries themselves. There is only one option under $8 - High Life. It would be nice if there was something like a $5 or $6 Spotted Cow. For entrees, we went with the Tuesday night burger special which we had been really looking forward to trying, and the Wedge salad with caramelized onion & bacon pork sausage. The burger was good but I wish it had come out hotter, and was a little bigger. For the price point with no sides you definitely need to order an appetizer or another plate. The burger that day had chicken nuggets, beer battered french fries, American cheese, ranch, and BBQ sauce - a fun combo. The salad was delicious and definitely the star. The sausage was very nice but there was just something about the romaine, tomatoes, and dressing together that was magical. Goodkind is a great spot for dinner and we are happy to have them in Bay View. They are always worth a visit. Don't sleep on the champagne battered oyster mushrooms - an absolute favorite!

Yelp
This is by far the best restaurant in Milwaukee. A hidden gem in bayview with excellent cocktails and good.

Yelp
Every time I come to Goodkind, I am reminded again why I love it so much. The food and cocktails are fabulous, the atmosphere is perfect, and the staff is SO wonderful (especially Reagan!). I love that they have enough rotation on their menu to try new things but a few solid staples - the oyster mushrooms are 10/10. This visit, I had the Pea-ña Colada which was such a perfect summer drink - great to sit outside and sip! I also tried the pork belly cornbread waffle with creamed mustard greens which was so excellent (and a great serving size of pork belly). Reagan was super attentive and gave us excellent recommendations - not that there is anything on the menu that would be bad. I'm so lucky to live around the corner from this gem of a restaurant - looking forward to many more returns!

Yelp
Overall, an amazing date night. Everything was on point, with only a few small things that could have been better. I'm already thinking about the next visit oh and the outdoor gardens around the restaurant are lovely.

Yelp
This lace has an old speakeasy vibe. Quite a nice atmosphere and comfortable. It felt fun and lively especially when coming here with my colleagues. The food was pretty good and the only reason why I rated it 3 stars instead of 4 is because I found a piece of hair in my food. The drinks were pretty good. I had the beer which was decent but my colleagues cocktails looked great. Customer service was pretty as expected from what we heard from others.

Yelp
This evening I had an amazing dining experience at Goodkind in Bay View. Everything from the ambiance to the food was fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a special night out or even just a casual dinner with friends. To start, the GK Caesar Salad was delicious with perfectly crisp romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, and a tasty anchovy dressing. The Oregon Albacore Tuna Tartare was another standout dish with fresh, tender pieces of tuna mixed with avocado, cucumber, and a soy-ginger sauce. For the main course, we ordered the Linguini Alla Carbonara which was cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of creaminess to the sauce. The Spicy Crab Pasta was also amazing with a perfect balance of spice and flavor. Both dishes were so delicious and satisfying. To finish off the meal, I had the Mini Gateau Basque which was a delightful dessert made with almond flour and filled with pastry cream. It was the perfect way to end the meal. I also have to mention the beautiful location of this restaurant on a quiet street in Bay View, which offers a charming atmosphere. The service was impeccable, and the staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, I highly recommend Goodkind restaurant for a memorable dining experience.

Yelp
Words cannot accurately describe the taste experience at Goodkind. After many years of it being on me "must try" list, my partner and I finally made our way to eating there one evening sans reservation. On arrival, we learned you must make a reservation on the day we were there for a table, but we could sit at the bar or outside. We opted for the beautiful traditional wood bar and ordered some drinks. The bar seating was more than adequate for us - and we had a front row seat to the tenders mixing cocktails AND free reign to oogle other diner's food as they were delivered. We landed on sharing everything - champagne battered mushrooms, empanadas (hand pies), a chickpea entre (I wish I remembered what it was called), and dessert. We also managed two shared cocktails and a fantastic NA sour. Food was always coming, servers extremely attentive, and the ambiance was lovely. Darker, moody, boisterous but not loud. I truly cannot WAIT for my next opportunity to dine there.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The service was incredible. The ambiance was perfect. Just another date night, trying new restaurants. We received recommendations from a few colleagues. We made a reservation which I recommend. It gets packed quickly. There is a time limit at the dinner table. I believe 90 minutes. Our server knew the menu and every recommendation she made was on point. The food was well seasoned and the cocktails were 10/10. We started with 1/2 dozen of oysters. I had the lamb and light as a feather cocktail. My partner had the spicy crab pasta and her cocktail was the Blackberry Shiso Cobbler. I tried hers, it was good. It's been told to me that this place has the best cocktails! Give them a shot!

Yelp
We received a gift certificate for Goodkind and finally decided to use it. After viewing the menu for a while, my wife decided on the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken and I chose the GK Burger. We had never been to this establishment so we were a little hesitant to order the food for carryout. Upon arrival at Goodkind, The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. I brought the food home and the 1/2 Amish Rotisserie Chicken was still warm, flavorful and the vegetables that came with it were great. However, the GK Burger on the other hand was room temperature warm at best, the bun was greasy, the "Aged Beef Patty" had no flavor whatsoever and all I COULD taste was the garnishes that were on the burger. I took two bites and fed the rest to my dogs. I couldnt even eat it! Very disappointed for $17.00. Oh, and yes, we will not be going back to Goodkind in the near or distant future.

Yelp
Brunch done right! My friend and I enjoyed mimosas, poutine, broth, risotto, and an omelette. Everything was delicious. This is definitely a small place so space is tight. The waitstaff does an excellent job navigating the dining room. Our server was lovely and quick. Not for large groups or occasions when you want to spend a long time relaxing. Prices are fair but add up if you want to try different items.

Yelp
I went here with my family. The service was amazing, and the waitress was attentive while not being overbearing. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely -- gorgeous bar and booths which feels comfortable and nice but not pretentious or too fancy. We got the shrimp scampi, the crab pasta, the lentil dish, and the risotto with peas. All the dishes were amazing, but the risotto was my favorite. We also got a bottle of kava which was amazing -- light and refreshing. Overall, I was very impressed with this place. Such good quality for the price. 10/10 can't wait to come back!

Yelp
It feels good here. The decor, the smells, the staff, the vibe. It's the kind of restaurant you want to take photos in. I have been here many times over the years for that delicious brussels sprout salad. Today was the first time to brunch. I like the small menu. It has a little bit for everyone. I had the French omelet and it did not disappoint. It was rich and creamy, just the way it should be. My friend enjoyed the Restorative broth and felt enriched. Our server was attentive and we enjoyed our meal. The only drawback to dining was it was very hard to hear one another. It is extremely loud and there is nothing to absorb the sound. The food is so yummy so it didn't slow our roll. We walked afterwards outside to talk and catch up. Next time I will request a spot outside. Be sure to get a reservation when eating here. And if you can share some items that's the best way to go.

Yelp
#veganoption Popped in here on a Friday night. Sat outside. Staff was VERY KIND. The drinks are fancy, some a very weird mixture, and oh so strong, I had a headache the next morning. I got the vegan cesar salad... I am glad they had an option and it was good just nothing spectacular, the most basic of lettuce and dressing with a piece of garlic bread.

S.K. V.

Yelp
Went in on my own to try a few dishes: chicken liver mousse (delicious), asparagus with stracciatella cheese, chili crisp and friend lemons (the lemons were amazing and added a necessary tangy acidity to a very oily and rich dish. I wish there were more lemons), and the basque cake ("candied fennel" was the Indian after-dinner breath freshener (sugar coated fennel seeds.) All solid. Bar/wait staff was nice. Small space so loud talkers definitely make themselves heard.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Cocktails were delicious. Service was fabulous. Every dish was phenomenal, unique flavors. Cannot recommend enough

Yelp
Hold up. Wait a minute. I've been here three times and I haven't posted a review yet!? Shame on me! Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! We went on Super Bowl Sunday for our Valentine's dinner (schedules wouldn't allow for the 14th but who cares anyway right? This is wayyyy better) Drinks: Fools Gold, blackberry shiso cobbler, and my darling Amadeus Small plate: Pork foie gras Large plates: Jerk pork shoulder and Eggplant steak Dessert: Chocolate stout cake Drinks were amazing. Pork foie gras was not our cup of tea, but both entrees were fantastic. I NEVER send food back for temperature reasons, but I just had to. When I got it back it was perfect and plated fresh. The cake was good, but didn't send us over the moon. The waitress was very friendly and comped our cake for the hassle which was unexpected, but appreciated. We will return without a doubt.

Yelp
I have only been here for brunch and it is soooo good. This past weekend I went and tried a new (to me) entry that was like a breakfast hot dish slash biscuits-and-gravy but on tater tots instead of biscuits. Man it was good! My go-to is usually the breakfast sammie - homemade sausage patty and perfect mix of spicy and sweet. You can make a rez or pop in to sit at the bar. I've also sat outside which is great on a day with nice weather.

Yelp
This place is very charming. Neighborhood feel with great cocktails and food. The service was wonderful, the servers were very knowledgeable and drinks/food were served quickly. Their pisco sour was one of the best I've ever had!

Yelp
Good kind is hands down one of my favorite restaurants. I can guarantee any dish from their menu will be delicious! The drinks are always good and the service is great! The restaurant has a nice intimate vibe to it and if you are a plant lover you will enjoy it even more they have beautiful plants all over.

Yelp
Ok I have been to so many places in milwaukee but hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. So many good things about this place Cocktails - beautiful presentation, delicious, and airy and refreshing Staff - kind and good ;) see what I did there! But seriously nicest gal, so fun, lots of good energy and appreciate her positivity. She was so sweet Atmosphere- beautiful inside and outside - patio is nice and big for a large group friends to enjoy a good time! Located in the heart of bay view neighbourhood which is adorable and gives a cozy feel. Food - not a bad thing we tired! Starting off with crispy mushrooms ( kind of remind me of a cauliflower tempura for taste and flavour so good) + salad with the honey mustard sauce and just wow! Both pasta dishes amazing for size, sauce was creamy on my carbonara but not over filling! Spicy crab was the right amount of kick! Then we ended with a sweet potato biscuit + peach clobber amazing for summer and ending the meal well. Would recommend this place to anyone!! Will be coming back soon!!! Obsessed

Yelp
Came in tonight unexpectedly and had one of the best meals I've had in years. Max took splendid care of us, recommending the beef tartare and Alaskan halibut cheeks. My counterpart ordered the 1/2 chicken. Though I didn't photograph the presentation of the halibut cheeks, I'll be thinking about them for quite some time. We finished dinner with the mini gateau basque. Looking forward to another meal here soon

Yelp
Bomb dot com meal at Goodkind, they are most notably known for their creativity, and unique take on everyday lunch/dining items. Their menu changes every week , but some staple items eg. Trout are there to stay More on Instagram @midwestmunching We had the privilege of enjoying brunch there the day after a beautiful baby shower. Our best friend from London flew in and WOW the food was amazing! Biggest highlight is the SEARED TROUT, nice and soft yet crispy on the outside with simple pairings fennel, potatoes, bibb salad + thousand island dressing. Literally melts in your mouth every bite second highlight is BEEF CHILLI POUTINE - they recommended it and they always change the toppings/pairings for the poutine every week. With the chilli, + egg, + beer battered fries & curds, you had every texture & richness bite by bite without losing the structure & role that each ingredient played Others included BRUNCH RISOTTO - had cheddar + bacon, nice & creamy with the poached egg on top DANISH PANCAKES stuffed with Gouda & raspberry chocolate jam. Soft & fluffy, + well balanced AVOCADO TOAST - with sourdough RESTORATIVE BROTH - wheat noodles with a spicy meat broth & chicken. Broth I think uses fresh chillies and had lots of depth (bone, basil, etc). Would love this if I was hungover haha Overall a FANTASTIC meal. I usually don't focus too too much on service but they are just amazing - very attentive, kind, typical Midwest +more you can book on @exploretock and ensure you have a seat/booth (given the space is smaller & bit more intimate). Would love to go back again especially for dinner & to try their summer menus

Yelp
I love love this restaurant. Everything about it is perfection. The inside is so cool and comfortable to be in. From the light fixtures to the wallpaper, fantastic. The wait staff and bartenders are wonderful, knowledgeable and attentive. The menus is exciting! It changes often so you may be pleasantly surprised when there's something new you want to try. I've had the mussels multiple times and although not the same, always amazing. The spicy crab pasta is super yummy! Our friends fought over the carbonara, they said it was so good. The champagne battered oyster mushrooms are not greasy but addictive. We always order the seaweed chips, even people who don't think like seaweed will like these. Have I mentioned the cocktails? Wow. Beautiful and delicious. Unusual parings that only a magician could conjure up, they have magicians behind that bar people. The wait staff always nails it when you ask questions and tell them what you like, the suggestions for food and cocktails are always spot on.

Yelp
We visited Goodkind last night for a late night date night without a reservation so we were happy to see plenty of room at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and provided great service. The ambiance is really chill, dark and cozy, just casual environment with really good food. We started with 2 apps - the crispy brussel sprouts and the champagne battered oyster mushrooms which were both delicious. For our entree we shared the crab pasta which my husband really loved. We also got a side of fries and the sauce that came with was super good. For drinks my husband had a cocktail that was delicious and I had a sour beer that was on tap. We had a really good time and the bartender told us about their burger night so we will definitely be back to check that out!

Yelp
I have wanted to eat here since moving to Milwaukee three years ago. It has taken me so long because this place is always crazy, insanely busy. Now I know why! The food and cocktails are divine. Artistic combinations that you will not find elsewhere and excellent portions for sharing with a few or many. I ordered the puffball schnitzel (listed under "large plates"). I had no idea what to expect but having never seen such an item on a menu before, how could I resist? They knocked it out of the park. Excellent presentation (insert a #chefskiss here). The beer battered fries came with a great dipping sauce - a tahini poblano concoction that I would buy in bulk. The only dish that lacked a bit was the plum tart. Would have been better with a sweeter side - like straight up vanilla ice cream. The prices are reasonable, and the service fantastic. Laidback but on top of their game. The place is also tiny. We called ahead to reserve a table around 7pm on a Monday and had no problem getting something reserved immediately. Monday evening seems to be a nice time to get a table here. A cold, October Monday ;) The vibe comes off as eclectic, hipster. The crowd is younger. There is a large bar in the center space, green plants, some taxidermy and two gender neutral bathrooms. It is the sort of place you would expect to see and experience in Bay View where the culinary scene is vibrant and more off the beaten path. They chose a great part of the city to put down roots and call home.

Yelp
We had a first visit up here with the son and his friend, and had dinner in this cozy and historic neighborhood of Bay View. Apparently this community is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and from our experience, Goodkind looks exemplary of the quaint and high quality restaurants in the area. The small restaurant space and bar is housed in a charming and colorful historic house on a corner in a residential area. The food and drink choices are excellent and it looks to be one of those places where you can't go wrong with anything here. Their menu changes every day also. Our party of four split these three delightful appetizers, and which comprised their whole selection of "bites": - seaweed chips - fried chickpeas - chicken liver mousse The mains that we tried were: - jerk roasted pork shoulder with side of Parmesan polenta (my dish) - Alaskan halibut (wife had this) - lavender and anchovy rubbed leg of lamb - braised rabbit leg with side of cream sherry mushrooms My pork shoulder was very nice - a fatty and generous serving and similar to Chinese char siu. The polenta was a bit creamy-soup-like but nonetheless delicious. I also had a delectable local beer - a Central Waters Rift IPA (6.5% ABV), and they have a pretty nice draft beer list as well as a varied wine list. The space is tight and we were lucky to grab the last table - a high top table next to the busy and vibrant bar as well as the the open kitchen view. Staff was friendly and attentive and for whatever reason virtually everyone was female and it sort of made me think of the Netflix series Godless! Anyway, great place and a nice taste of this historic part of Milwaukee.

Yelp
Since my first time at Goodkind I have been back a few more times. This meat cheek donut with raspberry chocolate sauce literally blew my mind! That was for brunch. This place is always a solid choice. I even really loved the bloody Mary I had for brunch the only thing there wasn't any garnish of any kind. But the drink itself was very good. Which, is my problem with a lot of the "so called" great Bloody Mary places in Milwaukee, they put too much garnish and the drink itself I often cannot even drink. And there's usually a great tap beer selection here, as well.

Yelp
I'm a night owl and I always appreciate a kitchen that stays open late. And with incredible food too! I've been here a handful of times. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. There are warm colors, potted plants. It's the same vibe I'd love to have in my home. Bonus points for two nice, gender free restrooms. A nice public potty is always a great find. Seriously, true story. Customer service here is usually very good. Personable, friendly, conversational at the bar. Once recently I had an experience of less than stellar customer service which is unusual here and has never happened for me here before this time. It's my belief that no one person or business is perfect and we're all bound to make mistakes from time to time. The hallmark of good customer service isn't the absence of imperfection but rather the way that a business receives to and responds to the customer feedback of a poor experience. Recently, I sent Goodkind an email providing feedback about a less than stellar experience. I received a prompt, humble and kind reply that invited me back and offered a complimentary beverage and dessert. Thank you Goodkind for being kind and good. See what I did there? Ohh, yes. Most importantly this was the best burger that I've ever eaten in life. The burger waa cooked perfectly and the toppings were an absolute joy. And owww were, these french fries honey! So unique and so, so good. I may have yummed out loud. But, I'm not sure. The Tuesday burger special is different each week. So, you could eat dinner at Goodkind every Tuesday. You would have a delicious burger every time. Every. Time. And, it would be uniquely different each week.

Yelp
This was our third visit, and again, GK didn't disappoint. Our favorite waitress Marisa wasn't there today, but we still got great service. I love the great variety of flavors in their dishes and that the menu changes seasonally. They usually have a few dishes with fresh mushrooms in them, and those never disappoint. This time, we got a dish that was beet-based. My husband hates beets, and got it for me, but he LOVED it. This is a miracle! If they can make my hubby like beets, they are just hands down amazing. I love this place! Do yourself a favor and try something new that you haven't had before. We have never been disappointed by that strategy. This advice includes the cocktails. So great!

Yelp
Goodkind offers up impeccable cocktails and delicious eats in a cozy and comfortable environment. Came here for dinner and was immediately struck by the atmosphere. Goodkind has the cozy corner tavern vibe on lock. We sat in a booth and began our experience with cocktails. I ordered the "Call it a Night," which is Goodkind's version of a traditional Manhattan. It was absolutely delicious. One thing to note for purists: it comes with orange peel garnish rather than the typical cherry. But, worry not, you'll be so enthralled by the amazing flavor, you won't even notice/realize until you're writing a review the next day. For dinner, I got the sea scallops. They were perfectly seared (an uncommon feat, it seems) and came served on a bed of diced butternut squash, cannellini beans, spinach, and caramelized goat yogurt. The blending of slightly sweet and savory was just perfect. My dining companion got their burger (which he generously shared a bite of), which came topped with bratwurst gravy, swiss cheese, and spinach. It had a beautifully rich flavor. While delicious, it might not hit the spot if you're looking for a more traditional cheese burger. The service was friendly and prompt throughout our visit. One amazing note for night owls: They serve their full food menu until 1am! This is definitely my new late night dinner spot. Get to it!

Yelp
Wow wow WOW. Truly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. It's been awhile since I've been to a restaurant where I was blown away by every.single.thing. The cocktails were SO flavorful & pungent (we got the strawberry thief & nostromo). For food we had the Caesar salad, linguini carbonara, and the spicy crab pasta. Each dish was packed full of flavor and the portions were generous. Cannot wait to go back to sample more cocktails and a different menu as it rotates frequently!

Yelp
Goodkind is a very cozy bar and restaurant! I am so happy to live so close to it. This is honestly one of my favorite places in Milwaukee to grab a drink. Call it a Night is my favorite, it is their version of a Manhattan. It's awesome and strong, and you will probably call it a night afterwards. If not, and you are hardcore, give the other drinks a try as well. The bartenders are amazing at making unique drinks. I have been here a few times for dinner late at night. The menu changes once in a while based on the fresh food that is available. The food has been good, but not always consistent. I really have enjoyed the scallops and the pasta dishes. On Tuesdays, they have Burger night which changes every week. It's delicious! You can see what Burger they will serve if you follow them on Instagram! The ambience hear is very cool, with great bartenders and excellent drinks. Maybe I'll see ya here sometime! Check it out!

Yelp
Asking yourself if you should come to Goodkind for brunch? Pull up the menu and scroll through. Pork Cheek Donut, Breakfast Poutine, Breakfast Corn Dog, Falafel Waffle, Bacon & Cheddar Risotto...the question you should be asking yourself is why shouldn't you be brunching at Goodkind this very second? (PS. The Bacon & Cheddar Risotto is off the chain.)

Yelp
Brunch or dinner - Goodkind is a delight! As vegetarians, my husband and I don't consider this a restaurant with endless options for us. However, the options they do have are wonderful and never fail to impress. We especially love coming here with family and friends that do enjoy meat entrees, as we recognize they have a lot to offer in that department. And the brunch has a couple of solid options - the aebelskiver pancakes as a starter and the whipped tofu as a main - that we keep coming back for. One of the other reasons we love our dining experiences is the ambiance. The space has a comfortable and cozy feel while feeling unique and intriguing. The wallpaper on the back wall of the space is gorgeous and there are numerous other charming details - the hanging lamps, the bar itself, the live plants all around. And of course, the cocktail menu has to be mentioned. Thy have inventive drink options that seem to change from time to time. I've never been disappointed. Nor have I seen the same kind of craft in many other places. Some tips - make reservations by phone in advance and save a few minutes to find parking on the street.
