The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: June 30 | Eater LA

"Gwyneth Paltrow’s “clean eating” ghost-kitchen chain that has quickly expanded throughout Southern California, serving teriyaki bowls, chopped salads, and chicken Caesar wraps on grain-free tortillas. The G-Potle Taco Crunch Bowl is true to its name, a Gooped version of Chipotle with adobo black beans and marinated chicken, while the miso salmon bento box was the star of the meal, with well-cooked salmon and a refreshing cucumber salad. Portions could have been a little bigger on each, but the quality was there, and the reviewer is already looking forward to trying more. — Rebeca Roland, editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest" - Eater Staff

I was so happy to hear that Goop was coming to the East Side. I've had it a few times for work when I was working in Weho and loved the salad offerings- everything was always so fresh. So far I've tried at this location, their seasonal chopped salad- my absolute favorite- lots of yummy crunchy munchies and the dressing is so good. The presentation and portion size is great. I've also tried the Classic Cobb (dressing was okay for me) and I just tried the Smokeshow Salmon (salmon was a bit salty). I haven't tried any of their bowls or wraps but will definitely do so if I don't keep going back to the Seasonal chopped salad (sucker for beets and dates). Atmosphere- not really applicable since there's no dine in, but a pick up- they have lockers you go to grab your food and when you join their Goop Kitchen Inside, you get nice perks like free delivery or a discount. Looking forward to trying more tasty food at Goop Kitchen- so glad you made it to the East Side (hoping there will be a Pasadena location soon hint hint).

I’m happy Goop is around to offer GF pizza and other dishes that aren’t normally available in this style at other establishments that do not compare by a long shot. I had some bad luck with the service via Postmates after 7 courier attempts my order was canceled after waiting over an hour. Goop kindly responded to the feedback after I reached out and I was happy with the solution. I order from them probably 4-5 times a month to show how often I order. My only thing about this particular location is the overall quality control and ingredient portions on the pizzas are hugely lacking or they are being severely rationed. In terms of cheese which in most pizzas and in the photos for their Potts pizza has a larger presence of cheese blanketed on top. I tried to illustrate in the photos how this Pepperoni Potts pizza is thinner than usual and has a huge absence of cheese. There’s such little pieces of cheese in it you look right into the sauce. This entire image of pizza is just red red red and not even talking about the pepperonis. It almost felt like the sauce was thicker than the crust for certain moments. And that imbalance of acidity just coats the crust like a ketchup. Not saying it tastes like ketchup but it’s an example. And I’ll call the cheese “pieces” act like the couple of Lilly pads in the pond of tomato sauce. But the flavor is great nonetheless. I’d just love to not have an entire mouthful of tomato sauce in my mouth like a soup and the thin crust and barely there cheese piece. I’d like to rate this type of consistent let down experience of lacking quality control 3 stars but I want to be fair due to their service and they don’t leave you hanging like some establishments. I just don’t know if I’d recommend this location unless you’re not bothered by super saucey cheeseless pizza.

I’m loving goopKitchen!! The food is great and they are so fast in fulfilling orders. The food including greens is all super fresh and pristinely assembled and presented. I love having the option of clean rotisserie chicken and it is delicious! I ordered a whole chicken and it comes cut up which I find really handy. The only thing is that it’s a bit pricey and the chicken is kind of small but still love the seasoning and it is roasted to perfection. Most rotisserie chickens you buy are injected with a solution with all kinds of bad stuff to make the chicken tender but this one was fine and natural without injection. I will be ordering this on a regular basis! I have also had the chicken soup - delicious!, the crispy Thai rice crunch salad - delicious! The Caesar salad was somewhat less successful for me but still good. I’m just so glad to have clean, delicious food which, for the most part, is reasonably priced for the quality you are getting.

Please review your gluten safety protocols for celiacs or give more warning on the menu. I suspect I was glutened by your coco GF chocolate chip cookie or brownie. I had side effects that I usually have whenever I accidentally have cross contaminated food with gluten. I’m celiac so even if your staff doesn’t change their gloves when working with GF vs non GF food it can be problematic for those of us with this condition. I really wanted to love this establishment but unfortunately it seems too risky for me and I’m too sensitive. I’m also reactive to oats unfortunately (a small percentage of celiacs are) so if you could double confirm neither of those truly have oats that would also be helpful. Goop has really negative reviews on FindMeGF app because so many celiacs have noted feeling ill after eating at this chain.

Yelp
Ghost kitchen delivery order was easy and quick via DoorDash. G-Potle Taco Crunch Bowl - 4 stars. A bit shy on the Romaine, but extremely fresh and tasty. The creamy salsa verde dressing works, and I really enjoyed the crunch toppings that came on the side to add texture to this "bowl." Garlic Roasted Japanese Sweet Potato - 4 stars. Is definitely better with a sauce, I used a tahini w a little hot sauce I had at home. By itself it does have a good umami flavor to it. Everything was packaged extremely well, and arrived looking good. Prices are on the higher side for the portion size, which I would expect from a "healthy" spot created by Gywneth Paltrow. Strong first impression, would probably do take-out from here in the future when craving something healthy and clean.

Yelp
I LOVE the food at Goop and am so glad to have it nearby. But we need to talk about the app and digital store. I order lunch here almost every day, but now half of the time "Delivery is not available to your area" at random intervals and I cannot order food. The app experience is arguably the worst of any restaurant I've ever used. If you are able to order your food without it asking you a minimum of three times to reselect Delivery and another three times to re-enter your delivery address (using an account with your delivery address already filled in) you got lucky. But then you may get "Delivery is not available in your area." When you go on to Doordash to order the same food from the store (they use Doordash to deliver from their site/app) everything is available, just with Doordash's massive markups. A pretty app means nothing if it does not function. Delivery and online ordering mean nothing if you randomly shut down to addresses that are within your delivery area. Please get it together. Also please put more cheese on your cheese pizza - no one wants tomato pie. Otherwise love you!

Yelp
Thank goodness for Goop! This is now my go to lunch delivery Monday through Friday! I love the seasonal chopped salad with the apple cider vinaigrette and the chicken teriyaki I tend to alternate between those two. I hope this salad becomes permanent! Food is consistently amazing and it's helping me trim down - bonus. There isn't anything like it as far as clean and organic options. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My new favorite local option. Love the food! Fresh and reasonably priced. Just as good as Erewhon, if not better. The mushroom pizza was delicious, all gluten free. My favorite is the smokeshow salmon salad, with fresh greens, smoked fish, a perfectly cooked egg, and a delicious mustard vinaigrette. The wraps are fantastic, including the curry chicken spring roll. Don't sleep on the bento box! Very consistent here. Delivery is reasonable and I'm definitely a fan. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
I live for any affordable healthy options! This option was up to par so far!! It's an all gluten free based for all the peeps who are allergic to gluten or prefer not to have it! I placed a delivery order to my job via uber eats. I ordered the taco crunch bowl and decided to grab some cookies. Yep! Both were exactly what I expected it to be...just good and no issues with delivery. It delivered fresh! I look forward to checking this place out in person. I need to experience more and see more :) I will update this review when that time comes. Go ahead with your bad self and try this place out!

Yelp
Bomb! I was super skeptical of this restaurant because most celebrity affiliated spots are just garbage (due to licensing and or the celebrity not really being involved). But knowing Gwyneth Paltrow and her commitment to the goop brand, I decided to give it a shot, especially when there was a discount on DoorDash and I needed to eat on the healthier side after binging junk for a few few days! I ordered the chipotle dupe bowl and their dark chocolate brownie. Both were excellent and exactly as described. Thoughtful packaging, although a little bit too much and discreetly branded, which was classy. Didn't have any rice and was anchored by some delicious black beans and other things and everything was fresh. The chicken was clean no complaints whatsoever, but note a little spice kick. The dark chocolate brownie was just described delicious not too sweet. Portions was perfect size not too much not too just as a portion should be which I appreciate because I have no concept of portion control if something is good haha. I definitely order again and appreciate this restaurant!

Yelp
Recently found out a Goop opened in echo park and I was super excited to try because I've heard so much about Goop. Surprised to learn that everything is gluten free and the pizza was actually really tasty! I didn't know this before I went in but the Goop in EP is a ghost kitchen so I recommend placing an order in advance to takeaway and eat at the park. The takeaway orders are very fast and you can also order on the kiosk in person.

Yelp
People are so picky and unappreciative. I'm so happy that Gwyneth had this idea and felt passionately about bringing healthy food to people. I order from here about every other day and I absolutely LOVE their salads! I actually crave them... so fresh, organic and consistent. Tracy's Green Goddess Salad is my favorite but I also like every other kind I've tried. Their gluten free pizzas are surprisingly delicious, as are their soups and bowls. Oh and their gluten free brownie is a 10/10! I order through postmates and delivery is usually fast and efficient. You go Gwyn, don't listen to the haters

Yelp
Ordered delivery for the first time and enjoyed both the chicken bowl and Chinese chicken salad. Lots to choose from on the menu. Look forward to next time

Yelp
We ordered the bbq chicken pizza and it was delicious and service was super efficient. One star off even tho the pizza was delicious, no exaggeration there was not even a full 3-4oz serving of chicken on the entire pizza. Each slice had anywhere from 0 to 1 piece of chicken. Wild.

Yelp
I got Goop Kitchen with my granddaughter for lunch. She said they had good fresh healthy options so i thought why not! What's the worst that can happen? News flash- it was a NIGHTMARE. I got the Spring Salmon Bowl. The fish was incredibly dry and the veggies were so bland. I could not finish it. My granddaughter got the pesto pasta which was soggy, overcooked, and tasted like it was made with rotten basil. For dessert we each got a maple pecan cookie- they were hard as rocks, I nearly broke a tooth.

Yelp
The food is extremely mediocre and overpriced, why is this Brentwood celebrity franchise in an Echo Park (they're pretending this is their Silverlake location) ghost kitchen that is supposed to be - venue for small business owners?

Brandy A.

Yelp
we got the brentwood chicken salad, the montecito wrap and the brownie. honestly everything was really bad and it was really pricey. the chicken salad had a weird soapy flavor and the wrap came apart. the brownie was really dry. also really strange that they call this their silver lake location when it's without a doubt in echo park. i wont be back and don't recommend.

Sue Ellen E.

Yelp
I don't usually leave reviews, but I use Yelp a lot to see where to find good food. I'm literally in tears about how blessed I feel to have GOOP Kitchen in Silverlake. The incredibly lovely and helpful staff served amazing, delicious and healthy food. I couldn't be more impressed and grateful that you're close by to keep me healthy! You even included a wonderful guy making sure we can pull up and not get parking tickets! Thank you so much!!! Xoxo

Yelp
The tortilla used for the Ceasar wrap is objectively awful. And the Calabrian Ceasar dressing has a weird taste.
